Zooming in on a clip

Ok so i dont exactly know how to explain what i want, but is there some way to make the camera zoom in on a part of the film? Like when working with a clip can i have it zoom into the upper left corner of the screen? I tried different things in motion working with 3D but none of it really looked right. Is there some way i can do this in Final Cut Pro 6. Thank you.

This is pertinent for video too.

  • Different zoom levels for different clips in the same project?

    Hi
I am making a movie with videos from two different cameras. As a result some of the clips are cut down in size to a small portion of the screen. This can be solved if it is possible to use different zoom levels for different clips in the same project. I have not been able to do this. Is it possible?
    kind regards
    Soren

You can scale the small clips up to the same size of the larger one... but you will get a quality loss.
Using Motion or Scale to Frame Size commands
Better to scale the large ones down to a Sequence that matches the smaller clip dimensions.

  • Zoom in on video clips???

anyone know of any plugins that allow zooming in on video clips?
sort of like the ken burns effect for still photos?
    thanks

They MIGHT have what you need. Too many to browse today. This is easily done in FCE or FCP. If it is a still shot you might try zooming in in iphoto and adding a disolve between the original and the blow up.

  • Easy way to do smooth motion pan and zoom on a video clip?

    Howdy..
As a recent convert from Vegas and Premiere Pro, I'm very happy with FCP6, with 1 issue: Easy moves on video clips.
It's very easy to setup a move with the motion filter, but the problem is that zooming with moving on the clip with 'ease-in' is problematic.
The scaling and motion seem to accelerate at different rates, making it very tough to achieve a smooth pan and zoom at the same time (either one by itself is easy).
I've tried using anchor points, but that's difficult when doing several moves on a clip.
Basically, is there ANY way (either native or via a plug-in) to set up simple pan+zooms on a video clip, with smoothness turned on without having the 'slingshot' effect that you get? I know I can mess around with the acceleration points, but this is tough to do with 100 of clips that need adjusting.
I'd appreciate any help you can offer..
    Thanks...
    Best,
    Ben

    Howdy...
Usually I set easy-in/out on the canvas window (for center) and then 'smooth' on the keyframes (for scale) in the motion window.
Can you actually set smoothing for center in the viewer? I think you can only set easy-in/out for center in the canvas. (could be wrong on this one).
I wish it worked like in Motion. Much easier and more intuitive, but one shouldn't have to jump to a different app just to do a simple pan and zoom...
    Any other ideas?

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC Timeline automatically zooms in when moving clips around

This is an issue that keeps happening. It has been an ongoing problem with Premiere Pro CC and now 2014.1. It would start after working for a while on a project and become more frequent as the project gets larger. The only way to rectify the problem is restarting the computer. I would be working and I go to drag a clip around on the timeline and the timeline will automatically zoom in and thus place the clip in the wrong location. This happens when I am not holding down any keys. It will continue to zoom in every time I move any clips on the timeline and once it starts it happens on all sequences. While restarting the computer seems to help I have to do that 5 or more times in a day which can be very frustrating. It doesn't seem to be related to any OS, computer, hard drive/storage. Deleting preview files, flushing PRAM, trashing preferences doesn't help either. I usually work with Quicktime files AppleProRes Codec or H.264. Any help or insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Here is a video that demonstrates the bug:
Premiere Pro Version: Every version from 7.0.0 to 8.1
OS Version: Every version of Mavricks and Yosemite including version 10.10.1
The footage I most use is H.264 and ProRes 422
The problem occurs randomly throughout the day, nothing seems to trigger it. When it starts the only way to make it stop is to restart the computer

    Hi Patrick,

  • Best aproach to zoom in on a clip

What would be the best apporach to zoom on a certain area on a clip? Is there a plugin to do this automaticaly?

There is no need for a plug-in. Each Video Clip automatically has several fixed Effects applied to them. First, Select your Clip, and then click on the Effects tab, choosing Edit Effects (lower-left of that Panel). This will get you to the Effects Control Panel. Look for Motion, and there you will choose Scale to Zoom. You might also want to Pan, and that would be done with Motion>Position.
One can adjust these Effects to be static for the entire Clip, or they can be Keyframed to change over time. To start the Keyframing, you need to toggle ON Animation with the little "stopwatch" icon.
    Good luck,

  • Is it possible to zoom of pan a clip?

Before I had my Mac, I used Sony Vegas on Windows, and for pictures (such as slideshows), I could make the picture or clip pan across the screen, or zoom in or out from a certain point. How would I do this on Final Cut Express?
    Thanks

  • Fram junp/zooms on start of clip

Hi, Yes i 'm looking for help but I think this is a hard one sorry about that.
Ok I have two tracks of footage where I have a cap between two clip on track 2.
when I move my player head over the start of a clip I can see on the tv that the fram zoom for that first fram just a little but you see it jerk/zoom just uneven if you have come across this you will know what I mean. I have rended the project but dose not help. any ideas as to what I should do. pleased for your help.
    Trevor

Hi , And thanks to you all this has not been to get across.
    v2 ------------- --------------- -----------------
    v1 ----------------------------------------------------
when player head get to the gap start or finish the fram on track v1 moves up or down dosen't hold still as if the start or ed of the gap is making this do this is a strange,it's just at the end fram or the first fram of the gap. I have closed the gaps and it's fine, but as you know it's cheating it shoud't happen. it's not praitcal either.
Now the same thing happens if you turn the whole thing the other way around.
I think I saw you had dell montors are you Happy with them?
I have to invest in 2 products which would you say I should spend most of my hard cash on a screen or a montor.
It's late and time for bed here in the uk. I thank you for your help may be I can send you a personal mail tomorrow.
RT is set at unlited and play back at dynamic.

  • Zooming out during a clip

    Me again.
I've shot a video using an autocue and because of this i was unable to zoom out during filming. Using premiere pro how can I can give the effect I'm panning out of the shot to reveal what is on the subjects desk?
    Thanks

There you will be able to scale and move the clip around
But that will only work if there is more of the clip to reveal when you scale it down or move it. That's unlikely in most cases, so animating motion will only reveal black around the image when you downscale or move it. You'll probably need to re-shoot the footage and zoom out if possible.

  • PrE 9, zoom out of a clip?

im making a video and i want to make the clip start zoomed in, and as it progresses, to zoom out. i know of the zoom out effect, but that remains the same for the entire clip (no motion). i have a transition on it already, so i can't use the zoom transition. are there any other methods to do this on PrE 9?

Because of the power of Keyframing (not only can you Keyframe the Fixed Effects>Motion>Position and Motion>Scale, but also many other Effects, that you would wish to add), every moment spent learning the ins & outs of Keyframing will pay dividends. Steve does one of the best jobs of explaining Keyframing, that I have seen.
Also, initially it will seem like a lot of work, but it gets easier, and easier, and the "power" of Keyframing can be "intoxicating!"
    Good luck, and happy Keyframing,

  • I am making an iMovie (HD 6.0.3) using old photos. How can I stop the zoom in on some of the clips?

How can I stop the zoom in on some clips of old photos? I am using iMovie HD 6.0.3  I don't want to take it off of every picture.

Select the photo in your timeline you wish to change, then with Meda/Photo tab open, click the Show Photo Settings button.
In the new window that opens, uncheck Ken Burns Effect.

  • New problem/bug when I set in and out points on a clip. Unwanted automatic zoom in on clip timeline.

Playing clips to log and set in and out points for scenes I will use later.  Something changed with the new update and I think it is a bug.  When I hit the I and O keys to set in and out points on a clip before dragging to the sequence, it zooms in on the clip timeline.  I cannot see the full clip time line unless I zoom out which is a pain to do time and time again.  How do I get it back to the way it was before?  It did not used to zoom in and out, it just marked your in and out point as it played leaving the clip timeline unchanged.
I am using windows 7 with Premiere Pro CC

    Hi,
Thanks for your post. I think you are using Premiere pro CS6 as the Project option is included in the file menu and in the video there is an option of project available and visible. Please update your CS6 with the latest 6.0.5 update and the issue will be fixed. The link is provided below. Please update once issue is fixed.

  • When I drag a video clip into the upper region, it zooms in, cutting off part of the head of the subject

I have a movie clip imported from my DVD video camera.  After importing, I drag it to the Project library.  However, it then zooms in and cuts off the head of the main subject, besides making things blurry from zooming in.  I would say it almost doubles the zoom.  I have gone to all the options... took of the cropping effect, etc.  Nothing works.   Any ideas?  I saw something else about it on here, but no answers.

This can happen if you have image stabilization turned on as it zooms into the clip to compensate for the camera shake. It can turn it off or control the zoom factor in the Clip Adjustments function. If you reduce the zoom factor too much you'll see black around the image.

  • Marking Source In Point Zoom the clip since update CS6 6.0.4

Since I updated Premiere CS6 to 6.0.4, the source clip (in the source window) zoom in each time I mark an in or out point. I have to drag the little grey bar to zoom back the entire clip in view.
I tried changing keyboard shortcuts to default Premiere CS6 and others but it's doing the same thing.
What's up? Am I the only one with this behavior?

...I generally find that I take my best footage from the middle of clips. I get everything set at the beginning, and let it run long to make sure I get everything. But the center is usually the sweet spot of the clip.
Steven, I am afraid you have completely missed the point.
In the above images I have a one minute and fifty one second
production music audio file loaded into the Source Monitor.
The Source Timeline is zoomed out to include the entire clip.
The Playhead is parked at one minute and fourteen seconds.
After marking an in point, only the first thirty six seconds of the
audio clip is visible in the Source Monitor, and the marked in point
has completely disappeared out of view.
It would not be as bad if at least it zoomed in to center
the marked in or out point in the Source Monitor view.
Try dealing with that for a couple of days of real editing.
    Or, use CC7.
