Zooming in on thumbnails

While working on my iDVD thumbnails to sort, etc, I can barely see them.
None of the Apple Accessibility features for zooming seem to work while I am in IDVD.
Does anyone know how to zoom in on the little thumbnails of my project and of the photos in the "Media" pane?

Control (right) - click in on one of the thumbnails and select Show as Icon in the contextual menu.
which will give you slightly larger thumbnails:

  • Where is the zoom slider for images in Finder?

    Since installing Lion, I have noticed that I can no longer make the thumbnails in a Finder window larger using a zooming slider (as is found in iPhoto). If I remember correctly, when I used to open a folder full of images in thumbnail format, I was able to use a slider at the bottom of the window to enlarge image thumbnails. Is this function no longer available, or am I missing something?

    Hi Captfred,
    Your answer help me a bit.
    However, in SL, I could zoom in the thumbnail / or resize the icon inside the Finder window by 2 finger pinch gesture, just like what we usually do in the Safari window.  Now it seems this gesture feature is not avaliable OR we need to do something in the setting in LION OS?
    Thank you.

  • IPhoto doesn't show thumbnails anymore

    I actually figured this out- I am posting this as a solution, not a problem. It frustrated me but I figured it out.
    THE PROBLEM:
    You click on an "event" and it brings up a picture from that event, however you can only see one picture. Clicking left-right on either the buttons or the keyboard move you to different events, not to different pictures. You have tried to go to "View -> Thumbnails -> Show" but it's all gray, meaning theoretically you ARE in thumbnail view, even though you can only see the one picture.
    THE REASON & SOLUTION:
    The possible reason you are having this problem is the magnification slider in iPhoto on the bottom right. While in thumbnail view, apparently, you can zoom all your thumbnails in to a point where it's only showing one picture- but you cannot browse the rest of the album or event this way. If you are having the problem above, then your magnification slider should be all the way to the right. Move it to the left, and other thumbnails should start to appear. Eventually you see all your thumbnails again. You can still scroll through all the photos using the full-screen thumbnail view by clicking/scrolling up and down, not left to right. There should be a scroll bar visible on the right. Its not obvious like on these discussion boards, but its there.
    Hope that helps. I would like to have Apple change this behavior- it will deffinetly frustrate a lot of people.

    this is a known bug (or maybe a "feature" - who knows)
    Please provide feedback to Apple re this to be sure they understand users view of it - iphoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback

  • Anyone know how to change the size of PDFs in the iBooks library?

    I was wondering if there was a way to increase the size of the thumbnails for PDFs in the iBooks library on your iPad. It's hard to read them at this default size and just about every other app in creation (several of them modeled after OSX's own file folder display system) will allow you to zoom in on thumbnails or change the orientation so that they are grouped in a way that makes them easier to see. My kingdom for a slider-majigger at the bottom of the screen!
    Anyway, does my request make sense? Also, am I missing something, or is that feature just not available?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You can adjust the time of each slide in the slideshow settings, which you'll find above the thumbnails of the slides when you open the photo album on the Apple TV.
    Note, not all of the slideshow options have time settings.

  • Standard preview size? 1024  or2048

    hi
    i have a question
    which setting is better 1024 - 1440 -1680 -2048
    i have a 17 monitor
    thanks have a nice day

    For a 17inch display you don't really need much above 1024. Also note that these values relate to the Standard-Sized Previews. A full-sized (1:1) version is generated when you click and zoom on a thumbnail or preview.

  • How to prevent downsampling of images?

    Hello,
    My issue is that some of my images are getting blurry. I have created an example to explain it. Check out: Home
    Is there a way to get the image in all the circles to appear the same? With no downsampling?

    Hi mac_heibu, I really appreciate the time you are spending.
    I don't use any widget, I decide to compose the grid on my own because I have more flexibility.
    This is what I mean with “zoom”:
    In this site, for example, when you zoom on the thumbnail the image conserves (in a limited way) its quality: http://www.ohbarrett.com/
    When you zoom on mine (it’s a preview of the page), the quality decreases  tremendously:http://172.20.10.2:33333/Preview/sito-web-1/index.html
    I attached also some image of what I’m speaking about:
    This is proved also by the asset panel, where you can see that after published the site, Muse resamples the image basing on the page size. So, if my image has the size of a thumbnail Muse always adapts its "quality" to the page size: page size (smaller resolution) = resampled size (smaller resolution). What I'm trying to obtain instead is to have page size (smaller resolution) = resampled size (bigger resolution, almost the same as the original size), as happens in the example site.
    Also using the widgets, Muse applies the same "downsampling way", basing the downsampling on the page size.

  • 2 iWeb formating questions..

    Hi,
    I am trying to figure out how I can edit the different pages on themes. I like the general layout, but as for the color highlights and borders, I would like to change or delete them.
    Also, how do I insert photos small and have them open large when someone clicks on them?
    Thanks

    I haven't tried FancyZoom, but the author says it is "so easy to add to a web page." And FancyZoom provides "a smooth, clean, truly Mac-like effect, almost like it's a function of Safari itself."
    FancyZoom is totally free for your non-commercial website. Click below for more info:
    Here's a simple web page using FancyZoom:

    ...To see the HTML code required to zoom the three thumbnails there, in Safari click on View > View Source.

  • What's up with the Preview panel.

    This is the way my screen looks:
    and here's the way that I think it should look based on wha i've seen.
    Is there some way to able to switch between artboards in bridge?

    You are just not getting the concept of Bridge.
    Forget "artboards" – it's a false analogy. What you are seeing in the second example is an enlarged Preview panel in the centre and a Content panel on the right. This shows the contents of the active drive as thumbnails. You select what appears in the preview by clicking on the appropriate thumbnail. The preview can be zoomed and the thumbnails can be sized to taste with the slider at the bottom.

  • When previewing images by clicking on the thumbnail in an Event for example, I've been finding that many images preview in a 'zoomed in' way so only a small part of the photos is previewed in a highly magnified view.

    When previewing images by clicking on the thumbnail in an Event for example, I've been finding that many images preview in a 'zoomed in' way so only a small part of the photos is previewed in a highly magnified view.
    Initially I could find no cause. Then I tried right click - Edit and on the affected images, always get this warning:
    "Image Cannot Be Edited - This photo was previously edited with another application or with an early version of Iphoto. Duplicate this photo to edit it." and a "Duplicate To Edit" Button is displayed.
    The external Editor defined for iPhoto is Adobe Photoshop Elements.
    Now, I reckon the MUST be others out there affected by this same apparent Preview bug, yet my searches have not revealed any answers.  Also seems impossible to find a contact number for adobe???
    Thanks

    Start '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web Link} by holding down the '''<Shift ''(Mac Options)'' >''' key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

  • Why does clicking on the Firefox button or right-clicking bring up either a very small thumbnail or a zoomed in view of the menu options?

    Whenever I click on the Firefox menu button or right-click on a hyper link within the broswer, instead of a menu of choices, I am presented with either a tiny thumbnail of the page I am on and the menu expanded (also very tiny). After moving the mouse, the thumbnail disappears and becomes a hyper-zoomed display of the menu that should have displayed. The zoom really looks like what an assistive-reading display would look like.

    hello, please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]] (this should be the right link for your model & system:
    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx), or in case this doesn't solve the issue, disable hardware acceleration in ''firefox > options > advanced > general''.

  • Upon opening a thumbnail to view full size image, it often spontaneously zooms to only display bottom left quarter of image.

    When double-clicking on the thumbnail image of an iPhoto album, the full size image will often spontaneously zoom to only display the bottom left quarter of the entire photo when it displays in full size. I can easily work around this by clicking on the right arrow to go to the next full size image (which will display properly) and then click on the left arrow to go back to the initial affected image (which will also then display properly). It does not do this when full-sizing all images from their thumbnails - probably less than 10% of the time; but still often enough to be a pian. I cannot find anything in the preferences which would appear to cause or correct it.
    It is a recent problem. I have been using iPhoto extensively for many years without any problems. I cannot recall for sure, but it may have started after my update to version 9.4.2.
    Using an iMac with plenty of RAM, latest version of iPhoto 11 and Mountain Lion version 10.8.2.

    What is the format of the PS photos and are there any alpha channels in them? You might try to re-edit them with PS, making some insignificant change and then saving.  See if the new edit will display properly.  Are you saving as jpgs with the Baseline format?
    I may be preaching to the choir here but this may be of interest:
    Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
    1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
    2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
    3 - however, if you get the navigation window
    that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
    This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
    NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
    I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
    Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Thumbnails do not display in Organizer unless zoomed in

    iin organizer, can't open thumbnails, only look like egg timers, unless  I only zoom high and open one at a time?' How do I fix this ?
    Message title was edited by: Brett N

    Try building the thumbnail cache again. This can be done through:-
    1) File->Catalogs
    Catalog manager would open up
    2) Select the catalog and click Repair
    A message box would open up
    3) Select option to Re-index Visual Similarity data and click Repair anyway
    This option will re-build the thumbnails and it would take time to re-build thumbnails depending on number of images.

  • Cant zoom into thumbnails in safari browser

    I want to upload images to a website, however the thumbnails are too small to clearly see the image. I thought there was a slide bar to zoom in and out, I can find this on the finder.
    But when in safari, firefox or chrome, when I click browse there is no option to zoom in on the thumbnails.
    Can anyone please help?

    Me too I have this problem, if I want to upload a picture to the web the thumbnails are so small I often mistake and upload the wrong one. I have been looking for a solution with no luck. it's incredible they put the size slider in the finder but not in the safari browse window where you actually really need it! you can't even right click the thumbnails to open them with another aplication and browse them form there...the only way is to create an alias on the desktop and browse the folder from there than remember the name of the pic you want to upload go back to safari and search for it in the safari browse window...any better idea? did they fix this in lion?

  • [SOLVED]Nautilus not "zooming" video thumbnails

    Hi!
    When i set Nautilus to more than 100% "zoom", the icons of video files get bigger but the thumbnails drawn on them stay the same size, so the video files look like a big white rectangle with a small (regular sized) thumbnail in the middle of it.
    Setting Nautilus to less than 100% zoom has video thumbnauls scale down correctly. Inside the .thumbnails folders, the png's belonging to videos and other files look both ok and exactly the same way, but the ploblem only occurs with actual video files.
    I noticed, that pictures in big folders first show the same way, shortly after the thumbnails are generated - but they are shown appropriately after a few seconds and video file icons stay that way permanently no matter what.
    Any idea how to solve that? thx!

    Found inside: abs/extra/libgnomeui
    File: gnome-thumbnail.c
    changed:
      size = 128;
      if (factory->priv->size == GNOME_THUMBNAIL_SIZE_LARGE)
        size = 256;
    ...to:
      size = 256;
      if (factory->priv->size == GNOME_THUMBNAIL_SIZE_LARGE)
        size = 256;
    compiled, restarted nautilus: WORKING FINE NOW
    But i don't think this is like it's supposed to be (and I've got no idea what else I changed by doubling that value). So, whatever that part I altered does - shouldn't there be something like...:
      size = 128;
      if (factory->priv->size == GNOME_THUMBNAIL_SIZE_LARGE)
        size = 256;
      if (factory->priv->size == GNOME_THUMBNAIL_SIZE_LARGEST)
        size = 512;
    or something?
    Well, I've got got big thumbnailed video icons again, so I'll leave all the sourcecode I don't understand alone for a while now. I'm not marking this thread as "solved" yet, as the method I used to get where I want is most likely very, very, very wrong.
    (edit: jupp, still working after reboot. source messy, thumbnails big, me happy. )

  • Enable pinch zoom in finder. We need this feature to resize icons, thumbnails etc.

    Enable pinch zoom in finder. We need this feature to resize icons, thumbnails etc.
    We just need it.

    Better Touch Tool does the snapping as well and with gestures too! so you can probably get rid of that other one.
    I agree, it's something that seems to not make sense. on the other hand I didn't realize you could do it until the second year of using my mac. of course after finding out about it I would use it to shrink or enlarge the icons on my desktop when I wasn't using them so it wasn't cluttered.
    I think one of the fun things about having the mac are the little easter egg abilities that aren't necessarily written out for you to know but you have the expereince of figuring them out on your own through using it or finding it out as a secret tip to quicken your workflow. Getting rid of this is similar to having a dream that you won a billion dollars and then waking up knowing you don't.
