When using the iPod touch on the web, how do u zoom in on the web page? How many times do u tap the screen?

Hi Gadgetgirl: Try this: Thumb and forefinger together on the iPod screen, spread them apart. Zoom until it looks large enough. Use opposite direction to un-zoom.

It really isn't a well thought out 'gesture' when a normal scroll action can result in an unwanted zoom but disabling SmartZoom wasn't an option for me—one of those with eyes that tire easily when reading very small text on a 27" display.
For a while I used command-+ and command-'-' to read small text but that isn't supported in some apps and for Safari it often leaves the browser in an less than perfect state when moving to the next page. I also tried option scroll to zoom the whole display but that was not desirable, either.
I finally settled on leaving SmartZoom enabled and remembering to double tap with one finger whenever the undesired zoom happens. It happens so often that the double tap is almost a reflex action for me.

Sorry, you can't downgrade. Look: Settings>General>Accessibility...things like Bold Text...see if any changes here will help.

How can I get just the text to resize, rather than the entire web page?

I used to be able to re-size just text on a webpage by typing Ctrl + +. Today, the entire webpage re-sizes, and when I move to another page it reverts. (I see this mostly in Facebook.). Why did this change, and can I go back to having just the text re-size?

Hi Thanks for 4.0. It runs much faster on my Mac, however, it no longer works to zoom in all of my web pages. I use to be able to use my finger pad to increase the size of all of all pages. Thanks again.

How do I Keep the "zoom" size setting the same each time I open Safari and from web page to web page?

I have a 27" iMac when I open Safari the web page is only 1/3 the size of the full screen Safari window. I know how to ZOOM in on the web page! My question is, How do I keep this ZOOM setting for all web pages and each time I open Safari up?

Sorry, but that's not possible.
An alternative might be to use Zoom in System Preferences > Accessibility
Or try a different screen resolutioin in System Preferences > Displays > Scaled

IOS 5 bug: Cannot zoom some web pages

After the upgrade to iOS5, I cannot pinch zoom web pages designed for mobile devices any more. Normal HTML pages still work.
This bug was present in iOS 3.1.2, but was gone by iOS 4. Now it is back.
Please fix this, as it is an accessibility issue.

As a workaround, does the attachment from this thread help?
It starts the native platform-browser and allows you to go for any URL you like.

Web page auto-zooms on orientation change in iOS 7

I had a web page that worked perfectly well until Apple came out with iOS 7 today and it broke the layout when screen orientation is changed.
Basically, when I have focus on a text area and rotate the screen to landscape view, the entire page zooms in. If focus is taken out of the text area and turned back to Portrait, things are back normal.
Rotation also works well when the text areas does not have focus.
I already have the following meta-tag in place (to ensure we block zooming):
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, minimum-scale=1.0;;">
Any ideas what's causing this awkward behavior?

You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages:

Web pages too big to view without zooming out each one.

I have to zoom out each new web page manually to see it all on the screen.

I lose the percentage +/- buttons at the bottom right that make it easier to zoom out. The oversized pages do not change. Thanks.

Safari 5.1.2 cannot zoom in on entire web page

I upgraded to Safari 5.1.2 the other day and ever since, when I zoom in on a web page, only some text enlarges while the overall page sizing remains the same. This is quite annoying since zooming in at certain levels will cause some text to overlap other, fixed text. Is there any way I can go back to a previous version of Safari or fix this defect?

Are you using Command + to enlarge the entire page, not just text?
And check your setting in System Preferences > Universal Access - Seeing
You can Zoom Text Only from the Safari > View menu.

Google maps Pan and zoom icon removal from a web page.

I need to display a web page using mx:html tag which has a google map in it. Is there a way to remove the pan and zoom icons from the webpage using Flex. I tried to access the div elements of the map through Javascript methods in flex . But I find that the divs have been disabled by some javascript function.

When I print a web page, the font size is always the default (which is good for screen reading, but too big for printing), even when I use Text Zoom to make it smaller.

When you zoom in, it is like using a magnifying glass - the underlying image remains unchanged, as you have found out.
You may be able to enlarge the bird to some extent without distortion and without pixilation by resampling.
Go image menu>resize>image size. Be sure that "constrain proportions " is checked in the dialog.
