Zooming Options in Diadem View Window

How can I make it possible to zoom all plots in different sheets (View Window) to same range on x-axis (all plots have same x-axis)

Hi Vasista,
If you put these two attached VBScripts in the same folder somewhere, then run the "Cursor Memory.VBS" script in the DIAdem SCRIPT panel, it will declare that the callback function in the "Cursor Memory Functions.VBS" script should run every time you switch between tabs in DIAdem VIEW.  This function sets the new tab's cursor properties equal to the old tab's cursor properties.
I believe this will give you what you want,

  • DIAdem VIEW zoom improvements

I'd like to propose a few improvements to the zoom functionality in DIAdem VIEW that are sorely missing usability-wise:
Vertical band zoom: This would allow one to zoom in on a specific part of the y axis without touching the x axis. We have the horizontal, why not vertical?
Sticky zoom button: When I want to zoom in to a specific part of a graph in successive steps, I have to click on the zoom button each time. It would be great to be able to click on it once to activate the zoom tool and to be able to zoom several times. (Not sure what the best mechanism is, but maybe a click with modifier key? Ctrl+click on zoom button keeps it active?)
Zoom stack with undo: Following on from point 2, when I zoom in in successive steps, it would be nice to be able to go back to the previous zoom level. Right now I can only do a generic zoom out or cancel all zooming. It could simply be an extra button in the zoom palette that goes back up one level in the zoom stack (like an undo. It could even be integrated into a more generic undo functionality if it ever comes about.)
I think that for points 2 and 3 there are several ways this could be done. I think the focus should be on usability. The user needs to be able to navigate the data as quickly and as efficiently as possible and the current zoom implementation is clearly impractical for many users.

    Hi jtagg,
I like your suggestions.  For your 2) above, try right-click + drag, that will re-zoom based on whether you have band zoomed or frame zoomed last.

  • How do I set the default x-axis scale in DIAdem View?

    Hi everyone:
I look at large amounts of data (i.e. many different data files every day), and I am trying to load and view them quickly and efficiently. Currently, when I have data sets loaded in the "Structure" tab, and I click and drag a numeric channel over to the 2-D plot, DIAdam automatically scales the x-axis from 0 to 60, when the numeric channels can be anywhere from 50 000 to 100 000 entries long. I now use the roller on my mouse to zoom out for five minutes before seeing the entire data set. My question is is there a way to re-set the default x-axis scaling so I do not have to zoom out each time I plot a numeric channel?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Peter!,
The DIAdem VIEW windows will always auto-scale to the full range of the values on the X-axis when you drag data into a new window.
You have several options on how to quickly get to the range of data you wish to see.
Right click on the LEFT edge of the data you wish to zoom into, HOLD the mouse right mouse button and DRAG the mouse to the right side of the section you wish to zoom into. DIAdem will automatically show the section you have selected in a zoomed view in that same window
    Result:
Alternatively, you can double click on the VIEW window and check the "Manual X-Scaling" box and then enter the exact values you wish to zoom into
Also, you could use the Band Cursor from the toolbar, move and resize the Band in the VIEW window and then use the "Scroll in Cursor Range" icon to zoom into the area of the curve you are interested in.
These are just a few ways you should be able to accomplish what you have described in your post.

  • ReportViewerBean window zoom options

We built a report viewer that uses ReportViewerBean to run reports that happen to have an automatic data refresh.  The report will be displayed on a fairly large wall monitor, so we're working on report-in-window sizing and other formatting.  We appear to need more zoom options than are in the viewer by default: 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, ..., Whole Page, and Page Width.  How can we add zoom options, for example, moving the scale by 5% instead of the default?   Or, to make the zoom option also a type-in field, where the user could enter something like 96%.
    Thanks!

Never mind I figured this out.The inconsistent behavior had to do whether resume was enabled or not. Duh !
    Thanks

  • View Options defaults to "All Windows"

I've seen other unresolved posts. Maybe this has been corrected in newer versions of OS X. Is there a plist setting that will configure the "View Options" to default to "This window only", instead of "All Windows"? I don't know how many times I've changed the size of my icons in a folder, only to find that I've changed them everywhere. Any one know a way around this?
    Thanks,
    Alfredo

What we were referring to is what happens when you create a new folder and bring up View Options: at the top the default that is automatically checked is All Windows. If you unthinkingly set various view options for that folder, without checking the This Window Only, then those options will be applied to all new folders, and all folders that do not already have settings of their own. However, folders that you have at some point selected and checked the This Window option, then set custom view options for it, will be unaffected.
I suspect the problem that you are running into is that folders you have previously worked with will not be changed. Try this:
    1. Create a new folder, bring up View Options, leave the All Windows checked
    2. Run through List view and Icon view and make some settings
    3. Leave the View options window open and then start opening some folders that you are unlikely to have ever opened before
    4. Those that you haven't worked with should show the All Windows box checked, and display your new settings when you change to the various views
    5. Windows you have set before will have the This Window Only box checked, and display whatever options you previously set for them
While this can all be confusing, and frustrating, it works for people who use different options in different folders for different purposes. If you could inadvertantly wipe out all the choices you had made for special purposes with one forgetful moment people would be even more distraught than they are now.
To accomplish what you want leave the settings you want check for All in a new folder. Every time you open a folder that isn't that way, and it has This Window checked, you'll need to change it to your preference. Eventually all the folders you use will be what you want, and all new folders will inherit the All Window settings you have chosen.

  • Anyone?... Set View Options Default to 'This window only'

I came across this discussion (below) that I could not find a solution for. Why does the View Options window always default to 'All Windows'? Usually when you are changing a window setting, you are doing it for that window. Obviously you should not have to change the All Windows settings that often right?
There has got to be some plist settings (which I could not find) that will automatically set the View Options to 'This Window Only' rather than 'All Windows'.

Subject: Change Show View Options Default to 'This window only' ??
Message: I find it very annoying that the finder's default in show view options goes to 'All Windows' rather than 'This Window Only' -- i end up constantly chaning the appearance of folders, much to my chagrin. Is there any way to have the default be on 'This window only" ??

Yes, I too find the default maddening and know of no way to change it. AFAIK the behavior is hard coded into the Finder. I would be delighted if that were not the case... You can always send Feedback on the issue:

Of course, considering the number of Finder problems I doubt anything much will come of it, but you never know.

  • Is there a way to zoom out the viewing window of mac applications?

Is there a way to zoom out the viewing window of mac applications? I know for sure in safari I can zoom out, but it reverts to the original size as soon as I close out the window. I would really like to do this in safari and mail.
    Thank you.

    Try system Preferences/Accessibility/Zoom.

  • Enlarge a section of the screen or at least vertical zooming option

Isn't there in FCE the zooming funcionality of Logic (Zooming to enlarge a section of the screen to fill the whole window)?
And if no, is there at least a vertical zooming option?

I'm not sure I understand what you need.
In any case if you want to enlarge a section of the clip, you can use the Motion tab of the viewer: open the clip from the timeline into the viewer, open the Motion tab, change Center and Scale until the section you want is centered in the window and zoomed as required.
If you want you can also keyframe both Center and Scale to move them as you like.
As another possibility you can activate Image+Wireframe in the canvas, and while the clip is selected in the timeline you can drag the image in the canvas window to move its center, and drag one of its corners to change its zoom.
I hope this answers your question

  • What's with the limited Zoom options?

Just switched to Pages about a month ago after seven years of using Word for Mac (and 7 years of trying and discarding alternatives, OpenOffice, Scribus, etc).
Now, I have to say, I'm impressed. I could stick with this but for one thing that's really interupting my workflow: the limited zoom options. Why is there no way to specify the exact amount you want (like say 175%), and why can't you zoom in and out like you can with Preview using the trackpad?
Both these functions are standard in Apple progs and use regular OS-defined routines (right??). Is there any way to enable them (partic' the trackpad dynamic zoom), say in Terminal?
I can't live with no options between 150% to 200% on my screen. Please don't tell me I'm going to have to go back to Word again...:(

Not an error, a design choice.
And in Numbers the choice is more drastic because there is no way to apply a factor which isn't predefined.
In Pages it's really easy to edit it.
I do that for months in my scripts.
Here is a short script doing only that.
    --{code}
    --[SCRIPT set_Pages_zoom_factor]
Enregistrer le script en tant que Script : set_Pages_zoom_factor.scpt
déplacer le fichier ainsi créé dans le dossier
    <VolumeDeDémarrage>:Users:<votreCompte>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
    --=====
    L’aide du Finder explique:
    --=====
Save the script as a Script: set_Pages_zoom_factor.scpt
Move the newly created file into the folder:
    <startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
Maybe you would have to create the folder Pages and even the folder Applications by yourself.
    Open a Pages document.
Go to the Scripts Menu, choose Pages, then choose “set_Pages_zoom_factor”
    Enter the wanted zoom factor.
    --=====
    The Finder’s Help explains:
To make the Script menu appear:
Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
Select the “Show Script Menu in menu bar” checkbox.
    Under 10.6.x,
go to the General panel of AppleScript Editor’s Preferences dialog box
and check the “Show Script menu in menu bar” option.

  • "Self-View Window" Disappeared in Video Chat

Hello all, I hope you can help me out.
When launching a video chat tonight, I noticed that the self-viewing window that usually sits in the corner has disappeared. I closed the chat, restarted it, and found that the preview of myself that appears before the chat is connected zooms into the video of the person I am chatting with as soon as he connects, disappearing.
I have scoured the 'net looking for any documentation about this, and have found nothing. I've tried quitting iChat, and restarting my MacBook, both to no avail.
While in the video chat, I have ctrl-clicked, cmd-clicked, and hit every key on the keyboard and nothing brings it back. I imagine there is just some simple cmd+ stroke that'll bring it back, but I can't seem to figure it out.
    Anyone know? Thanks in advance...

Do you have any add-ons for iChat, such as Conference Recorder or Chax? They have options for hiding/showing the picture-in-picture.

  • In Mail, I can not open a viewer window

I just had my hard drive replaced on my 27 inch imac.  It came back with a new operating system (OSX10.7.5)  Along with that it had several software updates. One of which was Mail.  It is now at version 5.3.  When I went to open it, it asked to transfer over all the old to the new.  So it did but once that was over it never opened a viewer window.  I then went to FILE to "Open viewer window".  That didn't work either.  I right clicked on the Mail icon in my dock and it said it wasn't responding so I had to force quit.  Same results happen everytime I open MAIL.  Please help.

With Mail open press Command + Option + Esc to force quit the Mail app.
Then restart your Mac and try Mail.

  • How do I open with one click all the windows that I have been minimized? When I right click on the lower bar Firefox icon, I only see the option to close all windows.

It is used to be that I could right click on the Firefox icon on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen and I would then be given the option to open all windows. Now I only see the option to close all windows. The ability to open all windows is very useful. Have you eliminated this capability? It was a very helpful feature because I often have more than 15 windows minimized at one time. On a regular basis I like to open them all and keep only the ones that I still need. I know that it is possible to see the name of each window that is minimized by moving my cursor over the Firefox icon, but this does not provide enough information. So I have to open each window one at a time to look at it and then decide to close it or keep it - this is a frustrating, time-consuming process. Is there another way to open all the minimized windows at the same time, instead of one at a time?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
    * Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
    * Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.

  • Mail won't display the viewer window, and it will not close (force quit does not show in menu bar).  Can't shut down to reboot because the open mail program prevents it.   Any advice?

Mail does not show the viewer window even when new viewer window is cliced.  I tried to close mail and reopen, but it will not close, and force quit option does not appear in window bar.   I tried to shut down the computer and reboot, but it cannot close because of open mail program it says.    Help!

Many thanks.  Once I was able to close mail, it reopened and behaved quite normally.  Thank you.  I'll remember the option quit for force quite!

  • New Pages no longer allows SECTIONS (in thumbnail view window) to be re-arranged like before?

New Pages no longer allows SECTIONS (in thumbnail view window) to be re-arranged like before? You could drag and drop sections within your document the same way you could drag and drop pages in Preview's PDF documents. So how do you re-arrnage your document now?
    ALSO
You used to be able to duplicate/copy a section/page by draging it with OPTION-LEFT-CLICK to a space below or above in the thumbnial window. The same way it works in PREVIEW in a PDF document. Did I miss something or is this also a bug?!
These were extremely helpful to me and I hope many others. Can anyone help!?

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.
