ZPM 6.4 to ZCM10 migration

I've been looking around the documentation and support, but cannot find anything related to a Patch Mgmt on ZEN7 to ZCM 10 w/ patch managment migration path. Currently have a stand alone ZPM 6.4.x server and thousands of machines being managed, looking to migrate to ZCM10.3 Enterprise, but not sure how to go about migrating the current ZPM installation to ZCM. Is is just a matter of rip and replace? Will the ZCM agent install take care of uninstalling the old ZPM agent? What about the existing patch deployment / groups / etc data on the current ZPM server?

If it is an issue, I'm sure that Novell would be able to work with you
to get a different code for use. They can handle that on their end.

Sean is right. It's a major migration.
For starters, ZCM doesn't run on NetWare. You can only choose Windows or SLES for you Primary Servers.
ZCM doesn't live on top of eDirectory. It uses it's own database (you have several choices, including SQL and Oracle). You CAN integrate ZCM with eDir or AD for user authentication, association, and management. Workstations are no longer eDirectory objects though, and Remote Control is handled through the ZCC in ZCM. You have almost no management capabilities through ConsoleOne... except adding users to eDir groups, if you use them for association in ZCM.
All of your objects have to be migrated. Applications: if you have ZEN sNappshots in eDir apps, you have to convert them or rebuild them as MSI packages. If your applications are already MSIs, migration is pretty clean. Policies: most policy packages migrate pretty cleanly. Old school "Desktop Preferences" do not. I suggest just recreating most policies (unless you have hundreds?) simply for the learning opportunity. (Frankly, I suggest recreating applications if the number of apps isn't too large, for the same reason: acclimation.) Images: I always dump images down from ZEN7 and recreate images to get them to ZEN10. If you have the ZEN7 agent in your image, you have to remove it and follow the process for imaging and the ZCMagent...
If you run ZAM, you have to decide when to eliminate the ZAMagent and use Asset Management in ZCM. Same with Patch Management. Most clients have maintained ZEN7 ZAM and ZPM until the ZDM > ZCM migration is done, just because there's a lot to learn in ZEN7.
For a few client, ZENworks is the last product reliant on eDirectory. If File and Print services and DNS/DHCP etc are already on Windows, your ZCM migration may end with decommissioning eDirectory entirely. :(
If you check out the ZCM forums and the documentation and knowledgebase, there is pretty extensive documentation and conversation about the process. Depending on the size of your environment, a migration may take weeks or months. I know of one organization that's been "piloting" ZCM for two years now...

ZPM bundle scheduling

Hi,
I'm trying ZCM10.3a, I try to deploy a patch to a workstation that need it scheduled on device refresh . After the deployment wizard I see that a new bundle "ZPM Assigment on Date/time" has been created but in his relationship there is nothing. I try to refresh agent a lot but nothing was installed
Somebody have encountered same issue?

I believe it has to do with the fact that you cannot control the schedule of the DAU bundle that runs.
So even though "next device refresh" it doesn't really mean that you can right-click the ZAA icon and do a refresh.
I think you have to wait for the next day (24 hours) for the DAU bundle to run again.

Training for ZCM10

Good day everyone.
I have been handed the task of migrating from Zenworks 7 to 10 while working a help desk. And,...wow, what a huge difference. I have been given a manual from the 2010 online class with no labs to get this migration done live. I am finding this to be truly difficult. I have been using Console One for years in creating app objects, and the zcm10 interface is leaving me lost.
Is it not realistic for me find this frustrating and is a training course a reasonable request?

However, I would recommend ZCM 11 SP1 instead of ZCM 10.
Some new features in 11 SP1 may make the move much easier than the ZCM
10. In particular, the ability to use Network Shares is greatly
enhanced in ZCM 11 SP1.

How can I Migrate/Split itunes/icloud account for a large family now that they have family sharing

Ok, now that Apple has finally come out with family sharing I need to get things sorted out and I think it is going to be a mess. I have 6 family members (my spouse and 4 children) all sharing/using one itunes account. For parental reasons this made perfect sense. Now with the the advent of family sharing and such we have alot of sorting and migrating to do and I am very unsure how to go about it. Here is what we have.
Myself - I have a 64GB iPad 3 and a 64GB iPhone 5
Spouse - 64GB iPhone 5
Children - x4 16GB iPhone 5C (pink, blue, green, and a yellow)
We have had one itunes account now for several years, we used to have x4 16GB iphone 4's and a 16GB iPod touch 4 so we needed it to be shared at the time. We all have different Game Center ID's and Facetime/iMessages are all setup to the phone numbers (aside from mine which also uses the itunes e-mail). We currently have 1 upgraded icloud account with 200GB of storage on it (love the new tiers). So here are the questions.
1) How do I go about using and isolating all the devices so they can all use the iCloud storage? Right now if I try and setup backups by device under the what to backup there is no simple "Full Backup" option, they have all the categories separated. I cannot backup my daughters contacts without forcing a merging of them and so on. Same thing with Documents and Data. Would I need to setup a different iCloud account for each device now?
2) iTunes Music/App purchases. Now that they have a family sharing function I am assuming it would be a good time to separate all the devices (aside from my personal iPad/iPhone). If I understand correctly we need to setup a new itunes account for each and link them with family sharing, does this then allow us to disperse/move items from a singular to the multiple account (at least a one time option to move around) or would it simply be shared off the original account? My daughter for example will be 18 next summer and as such no longer under our care. How do we move her items to her account? She has a lot of purchased Music. Now keep in mind I am talking about an account for someone who was 12 when she had her first device and as such needed to be under her parents.
I just want to state that repurchasing things is NOT an option, and to be frank, according to Canadian laws pertaining to *licensing* we actually own the product if we paid for it and have the right to transfer the ownership thereof. This issue went through the courts regarding used copies of OEM editions of Microsoft Windows several years ago and they closed the legal *license* vs ownership separation.

Go to appleid.apple.com to manage the ID, sign in and select to the Name, ID and Email Addresses section, then change the birth date on the bottom right. At the present time you may not be able to enter the correct birth date, but others have had success changing the year to 2000, or the date to 1/1/2001, both of which will have child ID status.

AR Open/Closed Invoices Migration Help

For more Info goto SWO1 transaction -> BUS2032 --> DIsplay --> Execute --> There SELECT the method which you want to perform... There you can fine the MANDATORY parameters also....
Or in DISPLAY mode PLACE Cursor on the Required Method and CLick the PARAMETERS button on toolbar...
That will show the MANDATORY parameters...

Migrating open POs and GR/IR clearing account balance

Hello gurus,
I've got the following problem concerning migration of open POs:
For example: In my source system there is a PO for 10 pcs. of some material. There has been a goods receipt for 5 pcs. (200$ each).
Now, when I import this order and the corresponding purchase order history into my target system (using LSMW), the target system creates the order, a material document for 5 pcs. and an account document.
But of course, our FI-team also has to migrate the balance of the 'old' GR/IR clearing account.
So, the balance in the source system is <> 0 (e.g. 1000$), because the 5 pcs. have been delivered but there has been no invoice receipt yet.
This balance is imported into the new system and then the open orders are migrated, generating an account document and thus, the balance is 2000$ afterwards.
This obviously is not correct, so I am sure that I am missing something, just what?

Hi,
1. There will be an open PO uploaded for 5 qty and price 200$ each
2. Opening Balance of Material - 5 qty and corresponding value to Stock A/c - 1000$
3. Also there will be Vendor Balances uploaded in the system as 1000$ against the invoice. (If the invoice is still expected then chec with FI Users if they can get invoice form vendor)
if no then do not upload initial stock entry of step2, create a PO of 10 qty and then do GR in system (SAP).

[Migrating from 6i to 11G] HTML viewer

There used to be a program to display the output of a report in 6i. When the report was displayed, it used page breaks (ESC characters) to allow the user to view the next page and print a range of pages from a report.
In 11G, these control characters are not interpreted by Internet Explorer:

So how could I migrate the printer definition files in order to get after page control in 11G?

As my old college profession used to say - "The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked!" Forms 11g only supports web deployment. This means you will need the OAS with the Forms and Reports Services installed as well. Typically, the setup is three tiered ( 1 server = Database, 1 server = Application Server, 1 server = Infrastructure server ). You don't have to set up the technology stack multitiered - all three could reside on the same server or you could have the all three on the same machine but is not recommended. I would at least have the database on a server seperate from OAS.

I've seen this question asked several times before, but have not seen an answer!
So, with as many details as I can muster:
I have, on my computer, 4 user accounts: my admin account, my user account, my boyfriend's user account, and our business account... All separate, keeps things nice and tidy (sort of!).
I have a new and separate project that I'm starting to work on which involves lots of images, and new websites, and new and different stuff that's necessary for the project, but just clutter in any of the other accounts.
Because this project started out as something my man wanted to play around with, all of the beginnings of this are in his iPhoto and his iWeb, and they're well organized. I've not had luck so far moving the iPhoto and iWeb libraries to a new/blank user and maintaining the organization that I've spent time and attention making right.
He's not so great with technology, and gets very frustrated (and unproductive!) when anything on the computer doesn't work exactly like he expects it to. (When Lion came out and the scrolling went "the wrong direction" he was afraid to use the computer at all for a week, because "everything changed, I don't even know how to use it anymore" that's between us though, personal issure ). So I'd like to keep the user experience the same for him. I'd like to duplicate his settings, preferences, etc. into a new user for him, and take over his current account to isolate this project.
So, in summary:
I want to create a new account with the same user experience as a current account without having to find and reset all of his settings.
OR
I want an exact copy of the iPhoto and iWeb from this user account to another one, on the same machine.
I am currently running OSX 10.7.2, iPhoto '11 9.2.1 and iWeb 3.0.4

That's easy, if you have Time Machine or "bootable clone" backups. (If you don't, you should anyway. Post back if you need info on them.)
Use Migration Assistant to transfer just that user account from the backups; it will put up a screen saying it can't transfer it under the same name as the existing account, and allowing you to rename it.
Other than having a different name, the transferred account will be identical to the existing one. Then you can modifiy them separately as necessary.
EDIT: see Using Migration Assistant on Lion for detailed instructions. Be sure to un-check the boxes for eveything except that one user account.

How do I find a photo file in the Finder + future migration question

Being a recent Mac convert, I am just getting used to the 'complete control' approach to photo management that iPhoto has. I'm used to knowing where my photos physically reside on my computer - this is useful for doing things like uploading photos to a website for example. How do I actually find a particular photo in the Finder (or even give photo files recognisable names, as opposed to whatever automated naming system iPhoto uses)?
A followup question to this is, what happens if I ever want to migrate my photos out of iPhoto one day to another application or even back to a PC (God forbid - just my paranoia about being forced to use a particular system forever kicking in here!) - is there a way to do this, and keep photo modifications etc? Or once I start using iPhoto, have I made my decision for life??
My apologies if this has been asked before, I couldn't find anything in the forum when searching.

I hope you've a notebook and pen, but you've asked a lot of questions:

You photos are stored in the iPhoto Library at your Pictures Folder. This is a Unix style Package Folder that very easy to see inside: right click on it and choose show package contents. A finder window opens with the library exposed.
Here's how the library is laid out:
In this folder there are various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
iPhoto always preserves the original file, all operations are carried out on a copy.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
And here's a warning: It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss.

No it's not. Don't surf the iPhoto Library. The idea with iPhoto is that you do everything via the iPhoto Window or media browsers:
So, to access pics use one (or more) of the following:
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser. Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
iPhot doesn't name the files, those names are given by your camera. You can add titles in iPhoto and if you use the File -> Export command there's a facility there to name the resulting file (it'll be a copy - remember what I said about all operation being done on a copy...) with the title.
Do not rename files in iPhoto, That comes under the heading of making changes in the iPhoto Library Folder and alters the path to the files. If you do, iPhoto will lose track of the file. But the truth is there's simply no need to. However, you can rename the files before importing them if you like.
Migrating is really easy. You've seen the layout of the Library above. The originals are all there, in the originals folder, the Modified versions in their folder. If you want to have only the most recent versions of pics, then export them from iPhoto to a folder on the desktop.
By all means post back if you need more.
