Zpool wont import: /var/cluster/run/HAStoragePlus/zfs not a valid directory
I have this two-node Solaris 10 x86 cluster that refuses to fail the HASP zpool over to the second node.
On node 2, log complains that /var/cluster/run/HAStoragePlus/zfs is not a valid directory:

In fact, on node 2 this folder is missing, i.e. the /var/cluster/run/HAStoragePlus folder isn't there.
If I create that folder, and the zfs folder inside it, then switchover works flawlessly both ways, but if I reboot node 2, that folder
gets cleared and the problem is back again. Looks like a bug to me, but I perused sunsolve without finding anything.
This is Sun Cluster 3.2 update 2 with latest patchset, running on a Solaris 10 x86 update 7 (latest).
I already tried removing and recreating the HASP resource, no way.
Any hint will be greatly appreciated.

After many sleepless nights looking at this problem, I ended up solving it by myself right 30 minutes after posting here!!
The problem was due to ZFS plugin not being configured in /etc/cluster/eventlog/eventlog.conf !!
I think this happened because I installed HASP on node 1 before node 2 joined the cluster for the first time.
Should be marked as a bug IMHO...

iPhoto suddenly wont import photos from my iPhone.
Keeps sending me error messages... wrong format.
anyone know about this?There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key ) -
Virtualbox & zpool export / import
Hi guys,
I am trying to use the zfs export / import feature to move a zpool from one virtualbox to another.
Host: windows 7
VB version: 4.2.10
Guests: solaris 10 u10
So, I created a zpool on guest1, exported it using zfs export, stopped guest1, start guest2, added the same disk, and when I issue zpool import nothing gets printed out.
Is there something wrong that I'm doing? Or zpool export / import is simply not supported on VirtualBox?

I just installed iTunes on my computer, where I already have all my music. I went to Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and changed the iTunes Media Folder Location to where I have all my music, in the "Local Disk." But iTunes wont import all my music. Help?
Have you looked in the Music App on your iPhone? On the iPhone music is played by the Music App not iTunes.

my pictures from my i phone 4s wont import from auto play. a message keeps coming up saying there is an error and a device is not working properly. also i have tried going into the internal storage to copy and paste them but that wont work either. the page either stops responding or the picture simply dont copy. does any1 have any idea why this is happening. it has never happened before and only seems to be happening since i started using i cloud storage instead of synching my phone with the lap top.
I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.
are you freaking kidding me Apple? I mean REALLY?!!!! who the heck designed this?!!! I want to know. I want his or her name and I want to sit down with them and have a long chat. and then I'd probably splash cold water on their face to wake them up.

I read about showev4 but I have two problems:
* this executable is only for SPARC system and we have x86 systems
* I transfer the file to a SPARC system to try to analyse but I get a core.

Emilio J.Transferring a SPARC binary to an x64 system will not work. They are completely different chip architectures. I think the eventlog file is for support staff only. It is not documented in the SC manuals as far as I can tell.

my itunes 8.1.1 is having major problems, it wont import any music files, Quicktime 7.6 opens them fine but not itunes, no error message or anything, it shows the normal green "+" sign when i drag the song over the itunes window but when i let go it does nothing, ive tried mp3s aiffs and wav files, it wont import music i purchase from the itunes store either, it gives an error stating:
"There was a problem downloading "song name", an unknown error occurred (-50)"
i tried using pacifist to go back to v 8.0.2 but it says it cant use the music library files because they were created by a newer version of itunes, i re-installed 8.1.1 install was successful, but still wont import anything.
i tried repairing permissions on my HD but still no luck, what do i do?
-Jon DI had this problem with iTunes 8.2. It refused to import any .MP3 or .AIFF files either by dropping the file on to the iTunes icon or by using "Add to Library". No error messages, just did not import the file. OTher media players played the files just fine.
I've just solved my import problem, but I don't know if my solution is a general one.
When I looked at Preferences / Advanced, the iTunes Music folder location was showing as blank, (though despite this iTunes was using my library OK, it was just import that was not working). Simply trying to change the location using iTunes Preferences / Advanced had no effect on the import problem.
I use an external drive for my iTunes library, with the music folder location set using an alias on the internal hard drive pointing at the library on the external drive. The alias was pointing at the correct place, but for some reason the alias was not appearing in the iTunes Preferences / Advanced / iTunes Music folder location window.
My solution was as follows:
- I re-selected the original that the alias was pointing at using "Select New Original" in the File / Get Info window.
- I then "reset" the location of iTunes music folder in iTunes to the same old alias file I'd been using all along.
This seems to have solved the problem. Files import fine now.
Hope this helps somebody, it was a real pain not being able to import anything.

Add Node to Hyper-V Cluster running Server 2012 R2
Hi All,
I am in the process to upgrade our Hyper-V Cluster to Server 2012 R2 but I am not sure about the required Validation test.
The Situation at the Moment-> 1 Node Cluster running Server 2012 R2 with 2 CSVs and Quorum. Addtional Server prepared to add to the Cluster. One CSV is empty and could be used for the Validation Test. On the Other CSV are running 10 VMs in production.
So when I start the Validation wizard I can select specific CSVs to test, which makes sense;-) But the Warning message is not clear for me "TO AVOID ROLE FAILURES, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ALL ROLES USING CLUSTER SHARED VOLUMES BE STOPPED BEFORE THE STORAGE
IS VALIDATED". Does it mean that ALL CSVs will be testest and Switched offline during the test or just the CSV that i have selected in the Options? I have to avoid definitly that the CSV where all the VMs are running will be switched offline and also
that the configuration will be corputed after loosing the CSV where the VMs are running.
Can someone confirm that ONLY the selected CSV will be used for the Validation test ???

The validation will test the select the CSV storage, if you have guest vm running this CSV it must shutdown or saved before you validate the CSV.
Several tests will actually trigger failovers and move the disks and groups to different cluster nodes which will cause downtime, and these include Validating Disk Arbitration,
Disk Failover, Multiple Arbitration, SCSI-3 Persistent Reservation, and Simultaneous Failover.
So if you want to test a majority of the functionality of your cluster without impacting availability, exclude these tests.

help! imovie media browser only has one option, "Mobile". other videos had option for medium and small. mobile option wont import into iDVD. other videos gave me the Medium option, why not this one? need answers ASAP!
That is your answer then.
Large is 960x540
Medium is 640x480 (or 720x480)
Mobile is probably 480x272.
It is offering you the sizes that make sense given the size of your source material.
As a trick, you might try this. In your project, put a short 640x480 clip in the project as the first clip of the project. Then keep the rest of the project as is. See if it will let you share now in Medium. It will not look as good, because there are not enough pixels to cover the Medium size, but it might work. -

Update your QuickTime to 7.1.3. I tried to use 7.1.2 and got dialog box that to play the TV Shows previously purchased that I needed to update.

well, the bad news for you is that the specs do indicate that it will not run on your computer.
Why, you ask.
If you look at the TurboTax 2012 specs for Mac, it states that for Mac OS X 10.6.8, one needs to run 64-bit.

your spec list above states that you have an Intel Core Duo. The Apple kb article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3696) shows a list of which processors are 64-bit and which are 32-bit. Unfortunately for you, the Intel Core Duo is 32-bit. This is why TurboTax 2012 will not run on this computer.
The next processor, Intel Core 2 Duo, is 64-bit, as are the later Xeon and "i" series.

OWB wont import new FKs from Designer
After importing a model from Designer and validating I found a couple of tables with FK constraints that had been defined with no columns. No problem there, went back into Designer and fixed them up.
Now though, for those tables, OWB will not acknowledge the existance of any foreign keys for them. Not even newly created ones!
I have tried many things including deleting the tables from OWB and reimporting new but they still show no foreign keys despite the fact that they are clearly defiined in Designer.
Any ideas?OK, I figured out what's going on. Things are worse than I first thought.
I appears that whilst the tables are coming from a physical model, the relationships come from the logical model (perhaps via the "relationship" attribute of the foreign key constraints). That suggests that if you have created a physical model from scratch, or have changed the model generated from the logical model (as I have) then importing from Designer into OWB is not a suitable approach.
Looks like I will have to generate DDL from Designer, run it into the database and then reverse engineer from there into OWB. -
