Vielen Dank

Welche GarageBand Version hast Du?

What does "Analyze audio for flex time editing" in Garage Band? It's taking so long(3 days)! and I can't shut down my pc.

Did you ever figure out what was going on? i've got the same issue.
I record 2 hour choir practices then edit the talking out to make more useful accompaniments for personal practice. During my editing process my MacBk Pro (0r GarageBand) decides it needs to "Analyzing audio for Flex Time Editing". It will finish doing it and immediately start over again. I can not cancel it so I just have to force quit Garageband and lose eveeryrthing I have editied since my last Save. I've shut my mac totally off and rebooted and to no avail. Any suggestions?

  • I can't find a plug in that i downloaded and put in the library/audio file when I'm in garage band

I can't find a plug in that i downloaded and put in the library/audio file when I'm in garage band?

In GarageBand 10.0 and GarageBand '11 are the plugins (Audio Units) installed in
    /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
What is the GarageBand version? Not all plug-ins are compatible with the newest version GarageBand 10.0
The version number is shown in the "About panel" in the main menu bar: GarageBand > About GarageBand
If you are having the newest GarageBand 10.0, the Audio Units will show in the panel in the Smart Controls of the Track you selected.
Scroll the "Info" pane down all the way or enlarge the Smart Controls pane by dragging the dividing line to the track area upward, until you see theAudio Unit Brick.
Most panes in GarageBand 10.0 can be scrolled.  If you do not see the scroll bars, they will appear automatically, when yous start scrolling. Or enable them permanently in the System Preferences > General > Scroll Bars. This is useful, as long as you do not know yet, which panes have hidden items that will need scrolling, to make them visible.
The Smart Controls need to be enabled in GarageBand Preferences >Audio Midi.
Some Audio Unit plug-ins will no longer work, since the new GarageBand 10.0 is a 64-bit only application; the 32-bit plug-ins are incompatible.

  • Importing Garage Band Dialogue into iMovie 09?

I would like to import voiceover dialogue created in Garage Band into an iMovie project, but haven't been about to figure this out and also haven't been able to find any tutorials or other information that addresses this particular subject. I saw one comment about saving the Garage Band dialogue as a different kind of file, but I can't figure out how to do that. Can anyone offer some easy to follow instructions about how to do this?

I would suggest that in GarageBand you use SHARE/TO iTunes or SHARE/To disk.
You can either use no compression or use Compression and choose AAC encoder.
Start iMovie. The track should be available from within iTunes through the Media Browser in iMovie.
If you shared to disk, you will have to locate it in the FInder and drag it into your iMovie Project from there. I do not recommend this, because if you ever move your file to another location, your project will not be able to find it.
That assumes you want to continue editing in iMovie.
Alternatively, you could finish your iMovie, then SHARE/TO MEDIA BROWSER. Then in Garageband, bring the video file into your project from the Media Browser in Garageband, and continue audio processing in GB. Then you Share the finished product through GarageBand.

  • Do I need an audio interface between my roland keyboard, garage band/MAC and Alesis 8.0multitrack mixer, or should I go direct into the USB of the Alesis with my keyboard into the mixer?

Do I need an audio interface between my roland keyboard and alesis 8.0 multitrack mixer when interfacing with Garage Band? Or can I just go direct USB MAC into the Alesis Mixer with keyboard directly into the Mixer? ie, is the interface overkill?

First of all the Alesis 8.0 is a usb audio interface so you already have a interface. Next you could go from the Roland into the Alesis into the Mac. You could also go from the Roland headphone or line out into the Mac Pro audio input. And depending on what Roland keyboard you have, you may be able to use Midi (usb) and use the Macs Midi voices.

  • Cannot hook up my mic with M-Audio Solo Firewire: Final and/or Garage Band

I have Final Cut Pro 5, a new MXL V67 microphone, and an M-Audio Firewire Solo Interface and I cannot record my voice.
I'm not sure if I have everything hooked up right: I have a firewire going from the Solo to my computer, and the mic is plugged into the Solo. I think my settings are correct. Should there be another cable going from the Solo to my computer? I've tried going through Garage Band too...no luck.
The other strange thing is that when I click on the M-Audio Solo Firewire icon on my hard drive, (to set up the settings) it keeps telling me that the firewire device is not showing up. BUT..it IS showing up in Garage Band and Final Cut...it's just not picking up any audio. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program too...it also made my computer crash a few times.
    Help please!!
    Thanks
    Quad G5   Mac OS X (10.4)

I use the M-Audio Firewire solo and it works like a charm. But you need to make sure you have the latest driver from M-Audio -- they update for nearly every OS X upgrade, including the minor upgrades (e.g., from 10.3 to 10.4). And you need to start the M-Audio software (from the System Preferences pane) BEFORE you open the Voice Over tool in FCP. Hope this helps.

  • Does anyone know how to separate a movie track from an audio track on the new Mavericks Garage band. It used to be very easy on the iLife 11 version. If anyone could respond ASAP I'd be grateful. I need to make an audio file from a video.

I urgently need to make some audio tracks from videos using the new 2013 GarageBand. In iLife11 Garageband, this was very easy. However, I cannot see how to do it in the new one. The alternative might be to revert to the iLife11 version, so does anyone know how to do this. It's extremely urgent since I need to produce these for a court custody hearing which will take place at 0800 GMT UK time on 31st October 2013. Please help.
    Thank you.

When you drag a movie from the Media Browser to the Time lIne in GarageBand, you will see a pop-up "Extracting Audio".
The Movie and the audio file will appear in separate tracks. You can copy the audio region from the sound track to a different track to keep it safe and then hide the Movie track.

  • M-Audio Fast Track Ultra Problem with Garage Band

GB is not recognizing my Fast Track unit. Sometimes it does, other times it doesn't. I uninstalled and reloaded drivers as well plugging it in before/after starting up, before/after opening GB. I even tried changing my USB cable. It is very erratic. Any suggestions or anyone else have similar problems?

M-Audio's Fast Track Ultra appears to have some serious issues with the drivers. The unit does not like to stay connected or communicate with your PC. See this thread on the M-Audio site http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?t=1174
I would NOT recommend this product until they get their problems figured out. You quickly will pick up on the thread that M-Audio's solution to an acknowledged hardware issue is to have the customer start messing with their system to see if it corrects the problem. Then if it doesn't, you have the privilege of calling their technical support. One poor chap from Costa Rica was put on hold for 41 minutes and was still waiting. Poor guy is probably still waiting.
I have read through many of the postings and did not find one person who was able to get their problem resolved; not one. Some of the folks had incredible patience with all of the "fixes" that M-Audio staffers were tossing out. They dutifully followed all advice but to no avail. I have to admit, M-Audio must have integrity because they are showing the postings on their website.

  • M-Audio Fast Track and Garage Band

    Grettings, friends.
Does M-Audio Fast Track work well with Garage Band? I understand there may be a spread of opinions on this, but any feedback would be appreciated, particualry from those who have experience with both.
And for those who have had problems with Fast Track, can you recommend anything better in roughly the same price range?
    Thanks in advance,
    DPL

    Hi David,
    The Fastrack works fine.
More money buys better converters, preamps, etc.
There's a certain class of "competent" interfaces around the same price as the Fastrack that all offer good bang for the buck, OK audio and "work well."
    Popular USB interfaces:
    http://www.sweetwater.com/c695--USB_Audio_Interfaces
I've had decent results with M-Audio. Not in the same league as higher end stuff from RME or Apogee, but I use both, depending on the circumstances.

  • Podcast export in Garage Band 10.0.3

    Hi out there -
I have used older versions of Garage Band and even iMovie in the past - meaning over 4 or 5 years ago - to do audio podcasts for my site.  These are generally 30 min. in length average.  I am only occasionally doing this now as others have picked it up.  I only have Garage Band on my mac, and find that the newer version is harder for me to figure out in exporting smaller files.  What I am doing is taking a pre-recorded audio file, editing it for volume consistency and cutting out a few things, and then exporting so I can upload to my site.  The problem with GB is the file sizes are large - in the neighborhood of 20 MB.  I want them to be about 10 if possible.  With older GB and iTunes I could achieve this, but now it seems I cannot get smaller than about 15 MB or so.  Could anyone help me out here? I am probably doing something very off here, and I am open to whatever in order to fix it, including ditching GB and getting something else altogether.
    Thanks -
    Craig

The problem with GB is the file sizes are large - in the neighborhood of 20 MB.  I want them to be about 10 if possible.
Have you tried all options in the "Share > Export Song to Disk" panel?  You can only reduce the file size by using lower quality settings.
With older GB and iTunes I could achieve this,
Do you still have your older  GarageBand version installed? GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5 is working well with Yosemite, and the GarageBand 10 installer does not uninstall GarageBand '11. You could still use it for your podcasts.

  • How to transfer Garage Band to new computer with all selfmade stuff

I just got myself a new macbook pro with of course garage band preinstalled.
I transfered all my .band projects from my old macbook and the loops i made too.
i put the loops in the same directory as they were on my old macbook hd/library/audio/apple loops/user loops/ but garage band didn't find them so i manually mooved them into the loop browser in garage band.
only problem: i have to mark them all as favorites again and whenever i open an old .band project for the first time gb has to search for each one again.
can you tell me how to do it better next time?
but now to the more important and current problem:
where do i find my selfmade software instruments on my old macbook and where do i have to put them on my new one?
and is there anything else i might need from my old gb that i didn't think of?
    thanks,
    paul

The best way would have been to use the Migration Assistant - it would have moved your whole user folder and your personal stuff over to the new computer.
About the instruments: There could be two Instrument Library folders, under HD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand and User/Library/Application Support/GarageBand (depending on whether you made the instruments available to all users.) If the other GB is a standard installation of the same version, you can just replace the folders on the new computer with the ones from the old machine, and all your instruments should be there. (The "if" refers to the fact that by doing this you lose all custom instruments you might have made on the new computer.)

  • Flip Mino-Garage Band-iMovie Syncing Issues

I'm recording video on a flip video while simultaneously recording audio with a lapel mic through garage band. I am then uploading the video to iMovie and attempting to match up the audio from garageband to the video. Somewhere along the way they are getting way out of sync. How do I fix this?

While it seems to download the videos and create the project, the videos are not viewable in iMovie?
There should be no doubt as to whether they were imported to the named_Event folder. Simply open it and see if the file(s) is/are there. If there and they don't show up in the iMovie '08 Event window, this I would suspect that either the thumbnail or cache data is bad. Since the normal work flow appears to be import, thumbnail, build cache movie, I would jump to the cache movie, open it and check to see if the "missing" content is included here. If not, I would likely close the application, trash both the thumbnail and cache folders, and then reopen the application to see if re-thumbnailing and re-caching the source files remedies. If it does well and good. It doesn't then I would likely do a test conversion if the file or files the "don't take" properly and see if this changes the results. As I do not own such a device, these are only logical "gueses" as to things I minght try in an effort to isolate the base problem area.

  • Help please: I edited an 8 min song in Garage Band to 2 min but iMovie sees it still as 8 min????

I have a new MacBook Pro with Garage Band '11 and iMovie '11 that came with it.
I edited an 8 minute song into 2 minutes to use in iMovie BUT iMovie isn't reading the newer version of the song; it reads the original.  I tried renaming the file, remixing the song, and still iMovie plays it as the original 8 minute song.  In fact, four renamed versions of the song show up in iMovie under Garage Band and yet they are all the same.
Oh, I also made sure the little purple line was right at the end of my 2 minute sound track and not left where the original song was before I started cutting it.  Still, the same problem.
What am I doing wrong?  Any insights would be most helpful!  It's been about two years since I've used Garage Band - and even then I only used it about ten times -  so treat me like the rookie that I am, ok?
Thanking the Apple Support world-at-large in advance,
    GG

Anyway, Leonie, you did give me one little jeweled piece of information that confirmed what I vaguely remembered from the last time I was putting together videos - once the file is in iMovie, any changes I make outside of iMovie need to be imported back in once again.  That's why I instinctively kept renaming the files.  Thank you for that.... each little piece of info helps, no?
That is on of the irritating aspects of iLife application integration - one would expect, that changes do sync, but they don't.
I'm using version 10.01 andyou two are using the previous generation.
Actually, I am using both versions. I assumed from your first post, that you would be using iMovie '11, version 9.0.9 and not the current version 10.0 - you wrote:
Garage Band '11 and iMovie '11
The version numbering is not the best effort on Apple's part.
But you are right - version 10.0 is not yet as robust as iMovie '11 has been. For serious work I am still mainly using  iMovie '11; I am more or less only paying around with the new version 10.0 to explore it. Final Cut has not yet given me any trouble, but I only use it for effects that are not available in iMovie '11.
    Regards
    Léonie
