ZVM - Classical Mu

Hi all?I suspect this is a problem not many people will have, but I am finding the cataloguing/menu system on the ZVM?frustrating for storing classical music. The most logical way of cataloguing classical music is under Composer, then Work, then Artist?- which doesn't really fit in with the Artist/Album/Song menu system. Does anyone know any way around this or is this a firmware issue?Thanks

Nope, creative have simply gone on the most common way of organising music. If you want you could change the track information to change the artist as the composer etc. Or, you could make playlists for each composer. You will find this with every player you use, i myself have a similar problem with Bach's cello pieces, it put down the artist who had recorded rather than the composer. This is also to do with who/where the program you're using to get the track information from is, and how the organise their music.

• IPod classic no longer being recognized by iTunes

iPod classic version 2.0.4 is not showing up in my iTunes anymore. I can see it listed in my device manager under Other Devices as iPod with a yellow exclamation point, although I've followed the instructions in this article iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows and I get an error stating "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. The system cannot find the file specified."
I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes already. I also have an iTouch 5th gen which is being recognized fine, the same iPod classic is being recognized on my laptop fine but my pc is what has all my music is.

I am having the exact same problem. My ipod has been stuck in disk mode for over two hours and now itunes is frozen.

• Unable to synch itune movie to my ipod classic

Hello -
I recently bought an ipod classic, but it will not sync my purchased movie. I've noticed the movie has an exclamation mark beside it. When I checked my itunes file; the movie downloaded to a "Downloads Folder", is there something wrong?

Yes, it should be in your iTunes folder. The ! next to the song indicates that iTunes has lost track of where that movie file is located.
Move it to your iTunes folder and you should have no trouble syncing it.

• How do I use ipod 5th classic with new itunes

how do I use my old ipod classic 5th generation with the latest itunes software?

The same way as before...
If the new look of iTunes is confusing, it may look more familiar to you if you show the sidebar. It is hidden by default to streamline the look and feel.
From the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. With the sidebar not hidden, iTunes mostly works like it did before.

• I have an old ipod classic that will not show up on my mac or itunes?

i purchased an older ipod classic, my cousin bought it for me for my b day. he even put songs on it from his computer for me. it gave him no issues. but my new mac book pro does not recognize it. it does not show up on the computer or on itunes. i don't know what to do! it shows up on all my cousin's computers but mine. i feel like mine must be missing a file that allows my mac to see it. when i connect it to my mac it says the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.

Hello there, bayoudure.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for trouleshooting issues with your iPod not being recognized by your Mac:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X - Apple Support
Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
If you haven't connected your iOS device to this computer before, unlock the device and tap Trust. Learn more about the Trust This Computer alert.
Restart your iOS device.
Restart your Mac.
Make sure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Install software updates on your Mac.
If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.
Check USB connections. iOS devices need USB 2.0 to work properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, check the computer's specifications.
Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
Try another USB cable.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

• Classic report - Condition evaluated for every row

APEX 4.2.2
I am seeing something strange in a classic report region. A report started to fail at run-time with a strange error about bad syntax. When I run the page in debug mode, I see the following
print column headings
rows loop: 30 row(s)
...Execute Statement: begin wwv_flow.g_boolean := '' is not null;
end;
......Result = false
...Execute Statement: begin wwv_flow.g_boolean := '' is not null;
end;
......Result = false
...Execute Statement: begin wwv_flow.g_boolean := 'string with a embedded ' single quote' is not null;
end;
......Result = true
Looks like the APEX engine is evaluating a boolean expression after rendering and each and every row in the report. And for some strange reason, it is using a piece of data from my query's resultset and failing because of the bad syntax introduced due to the single-quote in the string.
I have never seen this before. Any idea what is going on?
Thanks

Howdy Paul, sorry should have provided all the details. No, this is a standard generic column template. Ah, you are right, drat I should have looked closer. The template has use a condition to show either a highlighted row or normal one. Sorry for the false alarm, I can take it from here. Enjoy your flight :-)

• Can't play game with multiple CD's in Classic

I am running OS 10.4 on my iBook G4 (one that cannot run OS9 native).
I successfully installed and played for about an hour a game called "Obsidian" (1996). About an hour into the game, I was asked to "Please insert Disc 2." However, Disc 1 was not automatically ejected, and manually pressing the eject button also did nothing.
I have heard that some OS9 applications do not run in Classic very well, especially those expected to interact with the hardware (like the disc drive). And this problem is posted to the support page here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22250 . But the only solution listed is starting up in OS9, which I can't do on my iBook.
Is there ANY way to get this to work? The game is old, mostly before copywrite protection, and I have had success getting the data from other old games' CDs onto my computer, but they still look for the information in the disc drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello Dr. Ace,
I would start by checking the Extensions Manager to see if you have the proper CD/media extensions enabled. Also, if you could access the CD from the Mac OS X desktop and drag it to the trash to eject it by using Exposé or using control-click/eject or Right Click/eject to get it ejected.
There may be some preferences you need to apply for this game or special set up settings that need to be altered.
good luck!
-Mike

• How to set the number of rows displayed in a classical report at runtime?

Hi,
Our customer has several standard client hardware configuration and would like to enable end users to choose their 'display profile' at login time. This 'display profile' would contain predefined values for these hardware configurations and supposed to set various paramters that should define the number of rows displayed in a classical report region.
I tried to provide parameters on the report region but it refused to accept anything but numerical values. Is it possible to do this?
Regards, Tamas

The link is to the closest linkable point in the documentation to the description of the Number of Rows (Item) attribute.
It sounds like you have been trying to enter—unsuccessfully—an item name or substitution string into the Number of Rows attribute. The Number of Rows (Item) attribute is the one that actually allows you to do this. Click on the flashlight icon beside it to get a list of items from the application.

• How can I sync my iPod Classic with iTunes 11.1.4 and Windows 7 64-bit?

After assistance from ‘b Noir’ (and losing--then finally regaining--my DVD/CD reader in the process), I finally installed the iTunes Version 11.1.4 update on my Windows 7 64-bit PC. So I am again able to import music from CDs, play music on my PC with iTunes, and burn CDs as I could do with previous iTunes versions. Then, however, I purchased some new music and tried to sync iTunes with my iPod Classic for the first time since the update to 11.1.4. So far, I have been spectacularly unsuccessful. Can anyone help me?
With previous iTunes versions, sync was automatic when I connected iPod to a USB port. Now when I connect iPod Classic to PC's USB port (I've tried two different ports), iPod’s screen says “Connecting” but iTunes doesn’t open. And while iPod is connected to the USB port, I can't open iTunes by right-clicking its icon and selecting “Open.” (ITunes, however, always opens OK if iPod is NOT connected). With the iPod connected to a PC's USB port, I opened Windows 7 “Devices and Printers.” Devices shown included both (a) the “Apple iPod USB Device” and (b) “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.” I right-clicked each of these device icons in turn and selected “troubleshoot.” Both times, the report was “Troubleshooting couldn’t identify the problem.”
I am also unable to properly “eject” the iPod. I tried ejecting (a) from the Windows taskbar's Notification Area, (b) from Windows “Devices and Printers” and (c) by right clicking the iTunes icon and selecting “Eject.” Nothing worked, so I reluctantly pulled the cable out of the iPod without ejecting. That causes a yellow triangle with an exclamation point to appear in “Devices and Printers” for my PC—which disappears after shutting down and rebooting the PC.
If I start iTunes and THEN connect the iPod Classic to the USB port, iTunes does nothing and almost instantly freezes (shows as “not responding” in Windows Task Manager and I have to close it via Task Manager).
Suggestions, please, on what I need to do? My iPod Classic continues to work just fine, but I can't put any of my newly purchased music on it and I guess it will become an expensive paperweight if the battery happens to run down. If nothing else, is there an old version of iTunes I can download somewhere that likely will work with the iPod Classic and my PC setup? Thanks so much!

Hi turingtest2,
Thanks so much for your response--yes, I've seen the TS1363 document.
I was able to open iTunes, start the iPod Diagnostic Device Connectivity Test, and connect the iPod when prompted to do so. The only problem reported by the diagnostic program was "No iPod, iPhone or iPad found." So it does seem as if the TS1363 document should apply. But I have tried connecting the iPod after executing each of Steps 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 shown there and nothing has worked so far. Details follow:
--Went through the iPod Classic troubleshooting assistant--except I did not "reset" the iPod (because having all my "old" music available on the iPod has value to me).
--Restarted iPod Service.
--Restarted Apple Mobile Device Service.
--Verified that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed. There is no down arrow or question mark or other indication of problem with it.
--Tried two different USB ports (I assume that is what is meant by "change your iPod's drive letter"?).
--Temporarily disabled Norton Antivirus.
For some reason, there are 368 files and 60 folders in the Temp folder under my user name, and it looks like at least some are "read-only." Windows wouldn't let me delete or move the folder, even after I turned off Norton AntiVirus and closed the programs in the "Notification Area" that I could figure out how to close.
I'm very reluctant to get into messing with Config files or registry keys. And I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes 11.4.1 so many times. I'm not sure what to do but am considering uninstalling all of the Apple products (again) and try installing an older version of iTunes. Or maybe I should try to install iTunes 11.4.1 on our Windows 8 laptop and see if the iPod will connect to that (although I really need to be able to sync to my desktop PC). Probably won't have time to do either for a few days--too many other things to do. But please let me know if there's something more that's relatively simple and low-risk I could try. Thanks again!

• My Ipod Classic will no longer sync with my MAC.

The message says that for it to sync with the new library, it will have to remove the old one. I don't want to loose my songs, and don't know what to do! It shows that I've purchased the songs on my itunes library, but it doesn't show on my ipod classic!

Syncing is iTunes keeping your iTunes library (or a defined portion of the iTunes library) "in sync" (the same as) the library on your iPod. And iTunes syncing of content generally goes in one direction only, from iTunes library on computer to the iPod. That's why, if you want to sync it to a NEW iTunes library, iTunes is warning you that the existing library on the iPod will be replaced.
So, you cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library. Once your iTunes library is consolidated with ALL of your songs, you can sync your iPod to it.
NOTE: If you have songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store on the iPod, you can re-download them at no cost, from the iTunes Store Purchased screen. The link to Purchased is on the iTunes Store Home screen, under QUICK LINKS.

• Windows Vista not recognizing my new 160GB ipod classic

I'm having a terrible time getting Windows Vista or itunes to recognize my 160GB ipod classic (ipod software version 1.0.3 PC). I've spent the last two days going through the 5 Rs (4 or 5 times, now)... updated all the USB drivers... reassigned my slave drive letter to make sure there's no conflict... nothing is working.
The ipod is seen in the Device Manager as an "unknown device", but that's it.
The "USB Mass Storage Device" and "Apple ipod Controller" are listed under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and all drivers are up to date.
When I try to update and install the driver for the "unknown device", it automaticly searches windows and the internet, but finds nothing. When I point it towards my C:\Windows\System32 folder (as suggested elsewhere) it locates a driver... but encounters an "unknown error" when installing.
Absolutely nothing works! I'm not new to itunes, ipods or working with Windows Vista. This is terribly frustrating as I now have a $350 paperweight! Ironiclly, I just sold and sent off my 5g 60GB (WORKING!) ipod, too!
Ugggggghhhhhhhh!!!
Please, please, please help!

Update: (Not that anything is fixed yet)
Deleting infcache1 (as suggested elsewhere) had no effect... nor did moving around the usbappl.inf files forom the file repository as described here: http://teknobabble.wordpress.com/200...er-a-solution/
Vista just keeps asking for a driver and when I point it towards one... runs into an error when intalling. The hotfix provided adressing this exact issue (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940199) hasn't worked nad I get an error saying "This update doesn't apply to your system". O Rly!?! Hmmmm... Windows Vista 32... exact same error when mounting my ipod. Sure SOUNDS like it SHOULD!
Tried this fix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925196/en-us but actually found the CD/DVD upper and lower filters in a different key: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. Still no joy, though. Starting itunes just gives an error message saying it requires the registry entry to burn CD's and asks that I re-install itunes. Attempts to connect prior to reinstalling (since it still runs) have no effect.
Tried restarting itues service http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307078 but it just hangs. Reinstalling and restarting has no effect.
It just kills me that I can see the ipod connected in the Device Manager ("unknown device") and in Computer Management/Storage/Disc Management ("Rmovable Disc 1" with 148 GB).
So frustrating. This is the first problem I've run into with Vista that has stumped me for more than 24-hours and has really got me feeling stupid.

• Windows Vista, Itunes 10.7, ipod Classic, scan and fix message - why?

I am trying to connect my wife's Ipod Classic to our Windows Vista computer. I get a Scan and Fix Message for the Ipod from Windows. I don't let it scan and click continue. Itunes is frozen and won't recognize the ipod. This has happened since upgrading to Itunes 10.7. Also Itunes is choppy in playing all video content since upgrading to Itunes 10.7.
I have checked system requirements and driver upgrades. So far I have no fix. One site recommended turning off WiFi sync for all devices in Itunes. But of course the device must be connected, and mine won't connect. All my itunes video is languishing. :-(

Wi-Fi sync won't apply since you have an iPod Classic and it doesn't contain any Wi-Fi hardware.
To get rid of the Scan and Fix error, see this page: http://www.yourlocaltech.com/resolve-vista-scan-and-fix-error-when-plugging-in-i pod-or-other-devices/

• Windows Vista can't recognize Ipod Classic

I bought an Ipod of a guy yesterday. It's a classic. I did a lot so bare with me here.
It doesnt show up in Itunes.
When I turn off the ipod and turn it back on.
it says the device driver can't be installed and is unrecognized.
I'm installing Windows Servce Pack 2 as we speak in hope that an updated driver is in there.
Someone told me Ipod classics don't work with windows 7 period.
Someone help me!
Is the updated driver in a service pack?
Or what?
I just want to listen to music!
I uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes multiple times.
I don't want to keep doing it because it takes forever.
Do I have to download a older version of itunes?
What do I do?!?!?

Do this 5Rs first and tell me what you see on the iPod Screen, after charging the iPod and Reset
To do a Hard Reset
Charge your Ipod for at least 2 hours
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the Red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.

• Blue screen when re-opening iTunes 9.0.3 w/ iPod Classic already plugged in

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or something similar.
I have already reported this as a potential bug to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
This is regarding iTunes 9.0.3.15 for Windows
Potential bug: Windows blue screen (SYSTEMSERVICEEXCEPTION) when re-opening iTunes with iPod Classic 120GB already plugged into USB port.
I have been able to replicate this problem twice now. Here are the exact steps:
1. Plug iPod Classic 120GB (bought new in November 2008) into a USB port and iTunes opens and syncs (I have it set to manually manage my iPod).
2. Use iTunes for a bit, then click the eject icon next to my iPod in iTunes (when it's not syncing) but leave iPod plugged into the USB port (to charge).
3. Close iTunes and use Internet Explorer for a few minutes and close Internet Explorer (with no other apps running).
4. Open iTunes. iTunes connects to iPod (iPod screen shows "Connected").
5. Scroll through the iTunes Music Library in List view, click any music file and a Windows Blue Screen appears (SYSTEMSERVICEEXCEPTION), does a memory dump and then forces the computer to restart.
So far, the blue screen only occurs under these specific circumstances. I do not know if this problem existed before iTunes 9.0.3.15 as I have never tried the above steps in earlier versions. I just happened to be able to retrace my steps to notice the blue screen problem in 9.0.3.15
This is the first time I have ever encountered a Windows Vista blue screen error in the year and half I have used Vista.
I am running Windows Vista SP1 64-bit on an HP Pavilion dv7-1014ca notebook.

I've gotten the exact same error message and problem... When I connect my iPod Nano 3Gen, iTunes comes up -- syncing begins -- and then immediately triggers a blue screen with the SystemServiceException error and a crash dump is generated. I have been unable to find a resolution in 3-4 weeks of searching, including HP Technical Support, trolling the Windows 7 Support sites, and now, here. The Advice given by HP was to uninstall all USB drivers and let reboot reinstall them. That didn't work. Then they asked me to reboot my PC, hit F10 until the BIOS came up, and then find and disable the "enable legacy USB" capability -- except that no such setting is available in my BIOS. Obviously it's a driver issue, and just as obviously it's a Windows 7 / iTunes issue -- but no one is offering a solution, yet.
