I have a MacBook Pro and have problems using my Facetime. Last time I used it without problems. Now I am trying to use it, and it is asking that I enter my Apple ID. When doing so, it comes up with a message that says, "The server encountered an error processing registrion. Try again later." What does this mean, and how do I fix it? Thanks.

I'm having trouble logging into facetime. We do not have a new account. I've changed the password and still cannot get in. The message that pops up is "the server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." I want to talk to my granddaughter but can't. Can someone help me. Thanks
I had to same problem. I found forums about adding the DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in System Preferences - Networks I did that and it still didnt work. Just found another forum saying to go into System Preferences - Time and Date and check the Set time and Date automatically. And it worked for me. Hope it works for you too.

Hey radyslav,
There's an article that applies to your situation, I'd follow the steps within here:

I've used Facetime on my MacBook Pro a bunch of times but today it's not connecting. It is giving me this message: "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." Has anyone encountered this same error and come up with a fix?

The Facetime can not process the registration of my Apple ID, I've tied several times, and it always says " The server encountered an error processing registration."
I had this problem and also was unable to directly access the App store and could not get iMessage to work. I disabled the firewall protection on my third party virus protection software, rebooted and was good to go. iMessage also works and I can directly access the App store, rather than enter via iTunes.

Hi,
As the Other threads suggests I would check the Date and Time settings on the Mac and compare that with the settings in the router.
Messages (and iChat before that) send Time stamped info to Login and to send IMs.
Obviously most people set their Macs to their Time Zone and nearest city/town.
What people sometimes forget is that their Router/Modem device(s) have to be set correctly as well.
EDIT
Also Add a Public DNS server to your System Preferences> Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab
A Google one such as 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8 seem to work well for most people

IMessage & Facetime log in error - The server encountered an error processing registration.
I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Both my iMessage and Facetime was working fine until yesterday when I get logged out all of a sudden. I tried signing in to my iMessage & Facetime and all I keep getting is an error saying "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."
My Apple ID is active and working on my iTunes, iCloud, Macbook Air and iPhone but it's only on my iMac that's giving me this problem. Both my MBA and iMac are running on Mountain Lion.
I tried deleting the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imessage.plist method as suggested by others. It did NOT work. I tried setting my date/time automatically. It also did NOT work. I'm just puzzled as to why my MBA is able to log in to Facetime and iMessage but not my iMac.Hi,
Try booting into Safe Mode and if successful reboot and use Messages normally.

I just bought my iMac yesterday. This is my first Mac since I have always used Windows PC so I am still trying to familiarise myself with OS X. Everything else seems to work except Facetime. Each time I log in to Facetime, it is giving me the error message - "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."
I have tried checking the web for possible solutions but none seem to fix the problem. My date and time are already set automatically. I also checked the hosts file under /private/etc/hosts and it looks like this which seems to be OK.
# Host Database
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 locahost
fe80::1%lo0 locahost
I also checked the Keychain Access for login Certificates and it is empty.
I'm not sure what else to do. Any suggestions please?While this may be a work around for you, it is most certainly NOT the case that you need a seperate, unique Apple ID for every Apple device you own. There is clearly a bug in FaceTime that is causing problems for users, but creating multiple Apple accounts will only lead to complications later — especially if you use different accounts to purchase apps or other content from iTunes.
I suggest you take the offending device(s) to your AppleStore and get someone to help you out. This is (usually) a free service offered by Apple.
Meanwhile, Apple might lend a hand by focusing on ironing out the bugs from their network services. Network / web services have always been an Achillies heel for Apple, which has consistently had problems with its web / cloud-based services. At hardware solutions Apple is pure genius, but at web and cloud services it truly *****! Lets hope they eventually wake up to the fact that this is detrimental to users' experience of their lovely hardware.

I have downgraded to 3.6 and both work again, so the problem is definitely related to version 4. IETab2 will work for the Telus site, but not for the CIBC site and neither works with Roboform.
