Aperture Starts-up when connecting iPhone or iPad

Aperture starts-up when I connect my iPhone or iPad to the computer. I do not want this. How can this be controlled. Computer is MacBook Air with OS X 10.6.6. Thank you in advance for assistance.

Set it not to open when a camera is connected from the Image Capture, iPhoto, or Aperture preferences.

  • Automatically starting iTunes when connecting iPhone

I have tried searching the community board but I haven't fouind an answer that fits my problem.
    I am running Win 7, iTunes 11.03.42 with a iPhone 4S.
When I open iTunes, Preferences, there is no option to check that says open iTunes on connection.  I remember that from older versions of iTunes.
What do I do to make iTunes start upon connection of my iPhone?
    Thanks, everyone

    Howdy Westslope,
Here is an article outlining a preference that would prevent iTunes from opening automatically.
iTunes 10 for Windows: Prevent unprompted syncing of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH1677
To prevent unprompted syncing for a specific iPod, iPhone, or iPad:
Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer.
In iTunes, select your device (below Devices).
Click Summary, and then deselect “Open iTunes when this Device is connected.”
To prevent unprompted syncing for all iPod, iPhone, and iPad devices:
In iTunes, choose Edit > Preferences.
    Click Devices.
Select “Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.”If this checkbox is selected, any connected iPod, iPhone, or iPad won’t sync without being prompted.
To sync your iPod, iPhone, or iPad when unprompted syncing is disabled, connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer, and then choose File > Sync “Device Name” in iTunes, or click your device (below Devices) and then click Sync.
In the second part of that snippet
"Select “Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.”If this checkbox is selected, any connected iPod, iPhone, or iPad won’t sync without being prompted."
It will also prevent iTunes from opening automatically.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • SOLUTION (Potential) iTunes Hangs when Connecting iPhone or iPad - Win 7 64 bit

Ever since upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit, I have had an issue with iTuneshanging EVERY TIME when I connect my iPhone 4 or iPad 2 (iTunes Version on myPC is 10.2.2.12) - it will not respond until I disconnect the device theniTunes works again, until a plug in a device..... very frustrating as I can'tsync my devices.
I may have found a solution online and present it here in hopes that ithelps others with this issue (And based on a Google search, there are MANY,MANY others having the same issue).
"Run iTunes "As Administrator" every time you openit. - To do this, right click on the iTunes icon on the desktop and choose"Run As Administrator" - you should only need to do this once and itwill remember the setting."
I did this and now when I launch iTunes from the Desktop Icon Windows givesa pop-up saying "Are you sure you want to run this program asAdministrator" - I just say yes and iTunes opens, it recognizes my devicesand syncs without any issues, I have been running like this for 6 days nowsyncing both devices multiple times without issue.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks, it certainly does.
My iTunes has this exact problem with my 3GS, which only started since the last itunes / iOS upgrade.
Initially I got it working by changing the sync cable's usb port, but this isn't very reliable.
    Your solution however works perfectly.

  • ITunes won't start up when connecting iPhone

My wife has been having this trouble for awhile, and now I started having the same trouble too. She has an iMac G5 running latest versions of Leopard and iTunes. I have a Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet model) running the latest version of Tiger and iTunes I also have a USB 2.0 PCI card which has already been tested and is operating properly. Both of our iPhones are the original model running iPhone 2.0, but this problem was happening on her setup before the 2.0/MobileMe fiasco.
Basically, iTunes won't start on her machine when she sets her iPhone into the iPhone Dock, even though it does show that it is charging. When she clicks iTunes, it syncs new data from her iMac to her iphone, but new data on her iPhone doesn't transfer to her iMac (remember, this is BEFORE the MobileMe/2.0 update). I've tried different sync cables, plugging it in to different USB ports, and always it's the same- it may work properly when I unplug the cable and plug it back in again, but after I remove the iPhone from its dock and set it back in, it malfunctions the same as I just described. It initiates a sync if iTunes is running, but not if iTunes is shut down. The crazy thing is, her syncing was working perfectly both ways until about two months before the MobileMe/2.0 switch, so I know it has nothing to do with that.
Today, my Power Mac and iPhone started displaying the same symptoms, but with a twist- I put my iPhone into its cradle, and nothing- no charging screen and tone, no syncing startup, nothing. I turn iTunes off, pull the iPhone out of the cradle, and set it back in again- nothing. iTunes won't even start up; and when I start it up myself, it still doesn't recognize the iPhone is there. I plug the iPhone into a wall charger using the same cable I sync with, and it starts charging with no problems. I plug my iPhone cradle back into my external USB hub, connected to one of the USB 1.1 ports, and the syncing/charging works flawlessly. The weird thing is, my 4th Generation iPod Photo is on a different dock with a different cable, plugged into the same USB 2.0 card, and iTunes starts and syncs with no problems with that iPod every time.
I've taken my wife's iMac, her iPhone, and her iPhone dock and cable in to the Apple Store's Genius Bar, but they weren't able to figure out the problem. They tried to redirect the syncing issues by trying to demonstrate iPhone 2.0's wireless push/pull capabilities, but they couldn't get that to work properly, even though all the settings on the imac and the iPhone were correct. All they could suggest was that I must have had a "bad upgrade" when I upgraded to Leopard (6 months ago?!?), and that I should try an "Archive and Install" of Leopard again to see if that sorts out the issue- something I do not really have the time to do (and my wife can't really be without her Mac for that long since she uses it for work).
I see a lot of similar issues on Apple's iPhone support pages with iTunes not recognizing iPhones when they're plugged in, or not charging when plugged in, etc. I've spent a lot of money on our Macs and our iPhones based on the idea (from Apple's own marketing) that Apple's products "just work". And darn it, with all the money I've invested into these products I just want them to WORK- EVERY TIME, without fail! These are the kind of problems I left behind in the Windows world, and I don't want their ugly heads to surface here too.

  • Is there a way to prevent iTunes from starting up when connecting an iPad to my Macbook?

Is there a way to prevent iTunes from starting up when connecting an iPad to my Macbook?  We use Apple Configurator and would love to be able to set up the MacBook to open Apple Configurator when we  plug in an iPad.

When you connect the device open iTunes and select it from the sidebar. Click on the Summary tab in the main window. Uncheck the option to automatically connect to iTunes. You will find it in the collection of options near the lower part of the window.

Hi all, I have an iPhone 5 running ios 7.0.2 and iTunes lastest version installed on Windows 8. The problem is, every time I try to connect my iPhone to my computer, iTunes crashes. • ITunes freezes and doesn't respond when connecting iPhone 4

Well yesterday I had the two of the most common problems that a lot of people seem to be having with iTunes after the latest update- opening iTunes and not getting my iPhone 4 to be recognized. I solved the iTunes problem last night and iPhone is now being recognized on my computer but when I connect it to my computer iTunes automatically freezes and stops responding. When I disconnect it and restart iTunes it responds again and runs smoothly like nothing happened.
When it freezes beside "iTunes Store" it says "iPhone" and it seems like it freezes while it's trying to sync my phone. I've tried restarting my computer, leaving it connected before starting iTunes, waiting until iTunes comes up to connect it, but whatever I do iTunes just won't work with my iPhone connected. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Hello cn12,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

My MacBook Pro, running 10.7.3, does not recognize when my iPhone and iPad are on the same network, thus it does not synch.  Any ideas?

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.
Research Knowledge Base for network problems that pertain to the OS that is currently installed on your computer.   See these basic networking KB Articles:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1401 AirPort troubleshooting guide

  • When connecting iphone to computer iphoto always loads

When connecting iphone to my computer iphotos always loads on top. how do I stop iphotos from loading

When there are photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll, your iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer. Although photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Not a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup alone for these photos, and deleting the photos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete will improve your iPhone's backup time. If you want any of the imported photos available on your iPhone for viewing, you can add the photos to an existing iPhoto album already selected to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync, or create a new iPhone album for the recently imported photos, select the new iPhoto album under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync.
