Hi and Welcome to the Community!
This error has been discussed hundreds (thousands?) of times in this forum...a quick search of the site might actually provide you with an answer much quicker than awaiting a reply.
Also, there are several public KB articles on that exact error...I recommend you go there and search as well:

Since each has a subtle difference from the other, I cannot tell which might apply to your specifics.

Can't connect to Facetime or messages on iPod touch. When I try to sign in, message says to check network connection and try again. I have tried multiple times with both apps with the same result. There is nothing wrong with my internet connection as I am able to check my e-mail and all of the other apps that require wifi so I can't figure out what the problem is. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I am trying to sign into iMessage. Error--Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again.
Any other thoughts, mario49?
I've no trouble connecting to or using iMessage on my iPhone or my iPad; and no trouble accessing iTunes, the iTunes Store, the (iOS) App Store from my iOS devices, the (OS X) App Store from my MBP. So, my Apple ID is still functioning just fine, thank you very much and my network connection is not an issue.
My hosts file has not been tampered with, and I'm not blocked by any firewalls--the failures occur where ever I am.
This issue has been happening only for the last 2 days, but I'm completely locked out of Messages from my MBP.
So, what's the deal? -
Face time will not connect error message "Please check network conections and Try again" message appears but I'm connected to the internet?
Hey sergioo9,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are having trouble signing into Messages on OSX. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

I repeatedly keep getting notified: Could Not Sign In. Please check network connection and try again. When trying to log into FaceTime. Also note that click FaceTime on bar that Preferences is not highlighted by light gray. I can log into my apple ID okay and log in to write this comment without any problem. I am trying to talk with my Grandkids in England from Arizona on the iPads that I sent to each of them from my iMac. What am I doing wrong - have been repeatedly trying for past three hours.
Grandpa is needed!Hi RVBob,
Sometimes firewalls cause trouble with Facetime, iMessage and other Apple apps - please try to open these ports from your router firewall (or ask somebody to do it if you don't know how).
Enable port forwarding on the following ports to use FaceTime and iMessage on a restricted network.

On my Ipad Revel is giving me the following error:
"there was an error contacting the server. please check your network connection and try again."
The Ipad is connectd to the internet and it's the only app not working. This has been going on for 6+ months.I'm having the same problem on an iPhone and an iPad, while another iPhone and iPad are working perfectly, all on the same account. The Mac app is also working fine. I've reinstalled the apps on the iDevices and checked to make sure the region is set (it is) and all apps are up to date. What seems to happen is the app syncs perfectly, the blue progress bar shows the sync is complete, but the app continues to try to snyc, periodically flashing the connection error. If I quit or force quit the app or even force a restart of iOS 7.04, then open Revel, it immediately begins to sync, updates with no problem, but the sync icon continues to spin until I quit. Each time I activate the iDevice, I'm greeted by a message from Revel that the sync was interrupted. I open the app and it's back to the endless syncing and error messages.
Update: The problem continues. Message was edited by: lumierefl -

I am currently receiving this error message when trying to log in to iMessage on my MacBook Pro (Mavericks), "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
I have never had an issue until the past few days as I have been setting up my new iPhone 5s. I used to have an iPhone 4.
When I go to the 'Messages' App., Preferences> Accounts> the iMessage account is set as "(Inactive)".
My Apple ID appears to be working fine in iCloud, the App. Store etc.
Thank you for your help.Check Enable this account in Preferences. Try logging in again.

I installed viber on my iPhone 5s. After entering my number, it says:"
No Service
It seems to be a problem connecting to viber's service.please check your connection and try again"
Nevertheless I have connected to the internet.
Could you please help me?Hello!
Using a cradle with the Tungsten E2? Tried bypassing the cradle and just use the hotsync cable? Tried a different computer yet? Somehow, the PC is having problems getting a signal from the device. I assume you have the laptop charger plugged into the laptop during this? Not going through a docking station or port-replicator.
One crazy thing you can try is unplug the charger from your laptop, remove the battery from the laptop and leave it out for like 10mins and put it back in and reboot the laptop. This should not cause side effects but still contact your OEM to make sure that nothing else is needed after leaving the battery out for extended period of time. Keep me posted.
