Calling a bean in weblogic 4.5 from a servlet which is in Iplanet webserver4.1
while Calling a bean in weblogic 4.5 from a servlet which is in Iplanet webserver4.1 sometimes the servlet is not able to call the bean. There is no error logged in webserver. This is happening very rarely and when it happens I have to shut and restart IplanetWS.
Can anyone tell me some solution or reason
Regards
Nitin
We did receive a 4.5.1 / 5.1 interoperability patch - but it wasn't quite 'seamless'.
We never tried to use it.
SOAP? Isn't that around 50 times slower than RMI?

We ran into this issue last fall and got some feedback from weblogic
support. They originally said that it could be done (as well as different
versions talking to one another via JMS) but it turned out that they
were
incorrect and ended up saying that it is not possible. Before 6.0 went
GA,
BEA said that there would be a interoperability patch to do this, but
I've
never seen nor heard of anything regarding it. As a workaround, we
implemented 4.5.1 / 6.0 communication via SOAP.

I have the same question - and more. Last year we were told that wecould
not use
RMI (and ejbs) between 4.5.1 and 5.1. Which seems kinda weird becauseI've
heard
of people using WL ejbs from Tomcat. This issue has caused us to avoidusing
WL ejbs in any future development which has any chance of ever beingused
by any
app server (WL included) that is not under the direct control of thedata
center.
I've been trying to convince the Architecture team here that we canuse WL
EJBs
and we can call them from other app servers - but can't seem to getany
supporting
statement from BEA (maybe I haven't tried hard enough).
Anyway, a response from BEA would be appreciated.

Calling rmi running in Weblogic 6.x from Jboss 4.0.5GA
Hi all,
Recently i have a project that needs me to call a remote ejb which is running in Weblogic 6.x. It is using Weblogic's proprietary protocol known as "t3". If i include weblogic.jar (i believe this version of weblogic doesn't deliver its client lib wlclient.jar) in my war file's WEB-INF/lib, i get this error:
2007-06-30 17:32:33,462 ERROR (GqsClient.java:93) - TestProject: Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory
javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory [Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory]
I've tried to put it in server/default/lib but that throws another exception.
My test code:
Properties jndiProperties = new Properties();
jndiProperties.setProperty( Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
MY_INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY );
jndiProperties.setProperty( Context.PROVIDER_URL, MY_PROVIDER_URL );
Context initialContext;
initialContext = new InitialContext( jndiProperties );
Object homeInt = initialContext.lookup( MY_EJB );
objectHome = ( SomeObjectHome ) PortableRemoteObject
.narrow( homeInt, SomeObjectHome.class );
objectRemote = objectHome.create();
Have i done anything wrong in the codes?
Where should i put my weblogic.jar?

How to Create an XML document from XSQL servlet which follows a particular DTD struct
how to Create an XML document from XSQL servlet which follows a particular DTD structure.Could anyone send me a sample code for this.
You'll need to associate an XSLT transformation with your XSQL page that transforms the canonical result into your DTD-valid format.
For example, given an XSQL page like:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="rss.xsl" ?>
<xsql:query max-rows="3" connection="demo" xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql">
select title,id,description,url,to_char(timestamp,'Mon DD') timestamp
from site_entry
order by id desc
</xsql:query>and an "rss.xsl" stylesheet that looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0">
<xsl:output method="xml" indent="yes" doctype-system="rss-0.91.dtd"/>
<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:for-each select="ROWSET/ROW">
<rss version="0.91">
<channel>
<title>Do You XML?</title>

<description><xsl:value-of select="DESCRIPTION"/></description>
</item>
</xsl:for-each>
</channel>
</rss>
</xsl:for-each>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>You produce DTD-valid output against the rss-0.91.dtd DTD that looks like:
<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
<!DOCTYPE rss SYSTEM "rss-0.91.dtd">

Calling EJB deployed on Weblogic 10.3 from WebSphere Application Server 6
Hi,
We are trying to call an EJB(2.1) deployed in Weblogic 10.3 from WebSphere Application Server 6.
The problem is that the jars containing Weblogic's initial context factory are compiled with JDK5. (Client jar was built as per [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/wls/docs103/client/jarbuilder.html] .)
WebSphere is still running on JDK1.4.
Therefore when trying to get the InitialContext to lookup up the bean we get major/minor version errors because of the compiler level mismatch.
Has anyone faced a scenario like this and come up with a solution?
Are there 1.4 jars for Weblogic 10.3 out there?
Any help?
ThanksHi Dan,
Yes I am using EJB 3. I saw this thread earlier also but :
1. In my case I am not calling the EJB 3.0 methods directly. I am using a java client (Cataloged as a Java Class Library) which does the lookup and calls the EJB methods. (I am not cataloging and calling the EJB 3.0 methods directly).
2. It is working perfectly fine when the EJB is deployed in Weblogic 10.0 or 10.2.
I am very much new to this so please bear with my small and silly questions! Thanks a lot for you help !
Cheers !

How to get response from a servlet which depends on cookies?
guys,
i have a servlet which behaves differently based on the presence of a cookie or not. If cookie A is present in the machine it shows the the home page and if not it shows the login page.
now i want to get the home page HTML content from a program without using the browser. i am aware this can be done by using java.net.URL but how do i simulate the cookie given that i know that's the cookie name and value it expects?
Unfortunately i cannot paste the servlet code as it is a servlet of a product and i don't have the source code for it.
Thanks
SI believe you use URLConnection.setRequestProperty(), with the key being "Cookie".

Error in Calling Weblogic EJB's from JRun servlet engine
I am using servlets in Jrun engines to callEJB's running on a WebLogic Server. I have included "c:\weblogic\classes" in Jrun classpath. But i am getting the following error. Does any body have any idea what this may be??javax.servlet.ServletException: com/sun/java/util/collections/ArrayListjava.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sun/java/util/collections/ArrayListat weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactoryDelegate.getInitialContext(WLInitialContextFactoryDelegate.java:193)at weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactoryDelegate.getInitialContext(WLInitialContextFactoryDelegate.java:148)at weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory.getInitialContext(WLInitialContextFactory.java:123)at javax.naming.spi.NamingManager.getInitialContext(NamingManager.java:668)at javax.naming.InitialContext.getDefaultInitCtx(InitialContext.java:246)at javax.naming.InitialContext.init(InitialContext.java:222)at javax.naming.InitialContext.(InitialContext.java:198)
First off, wrong forum section.
Check if your JNDI name is correctly placed for the bean you're calling -- check j2ee-engine.xml for that. Check the EJB container if the ear file you deployed is there and updated.
Try placing "localejbs/JNDI name" on your lookup parameter.

How to call my own class in package B from a servlet in package A?
Hi, I am trying to call a class in my serlvet, but the class is in a different package than my servlet, i.e., my servlet is in package A, and the class my servlet calls is in package B. I created a .jar for all files in package B, put the jar file in %JAVA_HOME%/jre/lib/ext, and set classpath to %JAVA_HOME%/jre/lib/ext. I can compile my servlet, but when I run it with Tomcat 4.0, it says that the class in package B is not defined (NoClassDefinitionError).
Can anyone help? Thanks a lot.I set JAVA_HOME to c:\j2sdk1.4.0.
All classes in package B are in one jar file, and all classes in package A are under CATALINA_HOME\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes. Do I need to create another jar file for package A or should I put package A in the same jar file as package B?
I tried to put the jar file under WEB-INF\lib, but it still failed.
The project is the first time for me to use servlet, so I am not very familiar with it. I am wondering if there is any configuration file I need to modify for the servlet I wrote?
Thanks for the help. -
How to send response from a servlet to a page in CQ??
hi.. i have this servlet from where i need to send a string array or list array to the CQ webpage?? and this need's to be populated into a dropdown list on that page??..
Hi,
Unless if there is a specific need to use a servlet, you can implement the same logic(to generate dropdown list) inside a java bean. Use a getter that returns dropdown list and use the bean inside jsp and call the getter to populate dropdown list. In case, if you have to use servlet, you can use HttpClient inside bean getter to obtain response from the servlet and return the list or array.

There is no specific API for this, call the method of the servlet which returns the required value in your JSP page.

I know normal Java applications can use the Runtime to run an executable. Can a servlet do the same? What are the security implications, considering that the servlet will be accessed from a browser?
Thanks for your help.A servlet is executed on the server, not the client. The client receives a response from the servlet which is usually plain text formatted as HTML and/or javascript.
So can a servlet use the Runtime class? Sure, but on the SERVER, not on the client. Hence, the executable will need to be on the webserver, not on the client machine and it will execute on the webserver, not on the client.
Maybe, your HTML formatted response can include an <applet> tag to trigger the browser to download an applet that may have access to call an executable. Maybe a trusted applet? -
Can CMT Session Bean call BMP Entity Bean in WebLogic 6.0?
Hi
Does anybody successfully use CMT Session Bean calling BMP +CMT Entity bean in
WebLogic6.0? I have the following problem.
Any idea will be appreciated.
--Winston
Let's say we have a Session bean SB, it uses container to manage the transaction.
A method of SB will call an Entity Bean EB which adopts bean-managed persistence.
Both SB and EB use CMT and all of their methods use "required" in the descriptor
file.
1. If the connection con.getAutoCommit() is true in the EB, then the transaction
within SB cannot be rolled back as the ejbCreate() has already commit into the
database.
2. On the other hand if Connecton of EB con.getAutoCommit() is false, then container
cannot successfully commit the transaction from SB's method, as EjbCreate and
EjbStore() in EB are likely using the different database connections, which causes
EbjStore() fail and the following error message will be sent to the Console:

We did receive a 4.5.1 / 5.1 interoperability patch - but it wasn't quite 'seamless'.
We never tried to use it.
SOAP? Isn't that around 50 times slower than RMI?

We ran into this issue last fall and got some feedback from weblogic

incorrect and ended up saying that it is not possible. Before 6.0 went

How to call a bean method from javascript event
Hi,
I could not find material on how to call a bean method from javascript, any help would be appreciated.
RalphHi,
Basically, I would like to call a method that I have written in the page java bean, or in the session bean, or application bean, or an external bean, from the javascript events (mouseover, on click, etc...) of a ui jsf component. I.e., I would like to take an action when a user clicks in a column in a datatable.
Cheers,

How to call a bean method from html component in jsf
hi all
i need a solution for this problem of mine.. actually em working on a jsf application with contains a jsf-jsp having a span containg html button inside my javascript. i want to call a method on click of this button and fetch some data which i have already populated in my bean.how do i do this??? i hv attached a piece of code of d same...
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
function test(form){
var Title="DEBIT, gift, Request, TICK";
var Span=document.createElement("Span");
Span.style.position="absolute";
Span.style.left=(parseInt(110)-5)+"px";
Span.style.top=(+parseInt(274)-5)+"px";
Span.style.backgroundColor='Red';
var next=document.getElementById("forImage");
next.innerHTML="<img src='http://127.0.0.1:9000/action=clusterserve2dmap&sourcejobname=myjob_clusters' />";
Span.innerHTML="<[input type='button' >";
document.getElementById("forImage").appendChild(Span);
any help is highly appreciatedHi,
this gonna be a hack, but here's how it could work
- you create a Servlet that accesses the FacesContext to obtain a managed bean
- you issue a XmlHttpRequest from the button to your servlet to obtain the payload
- show the retrieved values in your HTML
see http://www.thoughtsabout.net/blog/archives/000033.html for the middle part

Calling a WebLogic web service from a WebLogic web application
We would like to call a WebLogic web service from WebLogic web application. The current architecture looks like:
LoadBalancer--->iPlanet-1/iPlanet-2--->Firewall--->WebLogic-AppServer-1/WebLogic-AppServer-2
The web application and web service are in the same WebLogic cluster. We would prefer that the web services do not get published externally.
Does the WebLogic web application need to make a call back outside the firewall to the load balancer?
Is there a way the web services can be called locally with load balancing?
Can web service calls be made over the t3 protocol?
Thanks,
MikeI think one solution is to use a Java proxy to call the Web services.
In the Java proxy you can have a method that accepts the user/pass and sets them correctly for the Web service.
Then you expose that Java proxy as a data control (right click, create data control) - and then create a page that invokes that method.
(For the basics of working with a POJO data control see: http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/2009/07/java_class_data_control_and_ad.html )
