Can I install Adobe Media Server - AMS 5 standard unto Linux Centos 6?

I would like to know if I can install AMS 5 standard on Centos 6? And if so which version would be best?
I see that Amazon EC2 runs a Adobe Media Server 5 version on a Centos 6.3 OS. So it must be possible right?
I have tried to install AMS 5 on Centos 7 but have not been able to get HTTP Dynamic streaming to work properly, so don't want to stuggle again, but I also don't want to be stuck with Centos 5 anymore as I cannot run Lavarel on there or the latest version of PHP.
Can someone please explain whether this is possible?

Yes AMS works on all CentOS 6.x...Centos 7 is not supported...You are always encouraged to use latest version of AMS which is 5.0.7 as on date.

it should work, according to this (rather old) discussion: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=2291517#post2291517.
Apple says in [this|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1461] support article:
    Requirements
A full, single-disc version of Windows 7 (Mac OS X v10.6 or later only), Windows Vista, Windows XP Home Edition or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later. Boot Camp does not include Windows. You must provide your own properly licensed installation disc. Important: A Windows XP installation disc must include Service Pack 2 (SP2). You cannot install an earlier version of Windows and upgrade to Windows XP, nor install an earlier version of Windows XP and update it to SP2. _*Media Center, OEM, and upgrade versions of Windows XP are not recommended*_.
but they don't say it's not possible.
    good luck !

  • RTMFP LIMITS ON ADOBE MEDIA SERVER 5 EXETNDED ????

hi everybody first of all i'd like to apologize for my english . it's not perfect because i'm still learning .thanks in advance.
well i have a question and until today i didn't find an exact answer even with google and in forums.
in the adobe media server comparison  ( http://www.adobe.com/products/adobe-media-server-family/buying-guide-comparison.html )  it is said that adobe media server 5 extended has a limit of 15000 RTMFP P2P INTRODUCTIONS.
i'm not able to figure out what does that mean ?????????
    * does it mean that only 15000 users can connect to adobe media server via  rtmfp and after they can connect each other  ? or
      * does it mean that only 7500 couple of 2 users can be connected   ?
i'd like to know exactly what this limit stands for ??????????
me and some friends are making  a real time chat with webcam and audio and we plan to buy adobe media server 5 extended even tough the price is expensive !!!!!!!!!! that's why we want to know to take this limit in consideration.
wa made some tests but just with adobe starter and it works great.
    thank you .

i can only find the AMG installer "installAmg.sh" in "AdobeMediaGateway_5_LS1_linux64.tar.gz" from the original AMS 5.0.1 starter download bundle.
i do not see the installer for AMG 5.0.3 anywhere in the AMS 5.0.3 linux update download.
    thanks!

  • Adobe Media Server Installer does not run

I am trying to install Adobe Media Server 5 on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit on i3 logged in as an administarive user over RDP.
The installer simply does not run - a very short hourglass then nothing.  Not logs in applicaiton, system of setup logs.
The bundled Adobe Media Gateway installer runs just fine.
Tried a machine restart, and still no go...
    Any ideas gratefully received
    Simon

ok, got it...  go properties on the file and 'unblock'
This was because I downloaded it on another machine, and then copied it over.  Windows 2008 knew it had not been made locally and silently blocked execution.

  • Automating install of Adobe Media Server 5.0.1

Hi, everyone!  I'm making an installer that is going to set a machine up for use of a piece of software.  Adobe Media Server is one of the software requirements.  I'm wondering if there's any way to automate the installation of it.  I can, of course, open the wizard through a command line, but at that point, the user needs to be there to continue installation.  I'm really looking for more of a "set it and forget it" type of solution.  If anybody knows of any way this is possible, please tell me.  I'm not finding anything online so far.

It's probably less to do with GPU. While the video size is fairly small you're actually asking for 60fps video. You're giving 1 second 2000kbit and want it compressed down to 60 quality (fair to poor, more importantly, expensive to compress). Compressing 60 frames that fast stresses your camera.
For each frame you're giving the video 33kb to display. Setting quality and bandwidth higher (say double that) for 60FPS might be necessary to reduce the systems need to compress.
Honestly I think you should simply reduce your framerate to something a bit more standard at the same other settings, such as 30fps or 24fps. But it depends on what the videos purpose is.
Lastly while FMS trial works fine on my Win7 install I'm pretty over-jacked on hardware. I also have cameras that internally encode themselves offloading that chore from the CPU. I can stream up to 1280x720 @ 60FPS but I need to crank up the bandwidth to about 12000 and keep quality above 70 or even I start seeing some serious bog, and my usage is ~1%. This just means my camera is innundated. I change it to 30fps/5000kbit 1280x720 70Q, it's smooth as glass.

  • Possible to install and configure adobe media server with existing apache

    Hi All,
I am wondering if you know whether or not there would be an issue installing AMS Pro on a server that is already running a Moodle installation (2.4) with Apache 2.2?
If I opt to install AMS without installing apache, can I manually configure the exiting apache to enable iOS support, etc?
    Any information is most appreciated!
    Cheers,
    G

You better post this question in the correct forum: Adobe Media Server maybe the moderator can move it.

  • I can't seem to find any books to purchase on Adobe Media Server 5 or even tutorials.

I can't seem to find any books to purchase on Adobe Media Server 5 or even tutorials, is there a reason for this? Is AMS gone by the wayside?

I can't find my photos that I've just downloaded.
    Look in Last Import
I can't find my photo information (i.e. shutter speed, aperture, etc).
Click on the circled "i" in edit mode
There is no histogram.  I can only find about 3 sliders to adjust color, tint, etc.
In edit mode click on "adjust" then "add" and check the options you want to see
The crop function is difficult to use.
Ok - that is a personal opinion - I like it better
I cannot geotag my photos any longer.
That is correct - hopefully it will be added with an update - for now you have to do it prior to Import - HoudahGeo hopes to be able to do it directly to the Photos library later also and is a good solution for Geotagging
Right now, I feel like I'm being forced to use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to get the tools I need to edit my photos.
Forced? Someone is there with a gun? You are not being Forced to do anything - you can do what ever you want including continue to use iPhoto - or even post invalid winning complains instead of acting to resolve your concerns - your choice - do what you want
