Can i use US iphone4 in india?
my uncle have bought a iphone4 for me...he is in US and he brings for me to india ..how can i use it? any solution? because i dont want my iphone useless ..i want it to use it in india.. pls help...
No US iPhone can be officially unlocked, thus it will not activate or work on any carrier's network where you live. Tell your Uncle to return it and get his money back. The ONLY way it will work where you live is to first activate it on AT&T's network, pick a plan, activate International roaming...would cost a small fortune. Save yourself a lot of grief, have your Uncle return it.

Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can authorize it's unlocking. Contact the carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.

<Edited By Host>First, the iPhone would need to be unlocked. That would depend on where you bought it. Next, the North American phone would not work with all of the networks outside of the US. Also, the warranty for the device is only good in the US, so if you have a problem with the phone, you would need to bring it back to the US to an Apple Store. Where did you purchase the phone?

Check your Settings > Network Connections > Mobile Network > Network Technology to tell me what are your network choices listed as? 2G, 3G, etc?
You may need to get a new SIM card from Vodafone.

That will depend on how you buy the iPad.
If you buy it from an Apple Store directly at full price it will be unlocked, and can take a sim card from any compatible GSM carrier.
If you buy it directly from T-Mobile under a subsidy(at a discount price tied to a service contract) Then it may be locked to T-Mobile for at least 40 days of service with them. -

Not with a local sim, no. All US iPhones are carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked. If you want to use your phone in Italy, as a phone, you will need to contact AT&T and have international provisioning activated for your account, then pick a plan.
