Creating Web Service from R/3 system in Web AS

I'm trying to find out how to create a Web Service from a BAPI running on an R/3 System and have the Web Service hosted on Web AS.  Is there anything in the SAP Developer Studio which facilitates this.  I've looked into the enterprise connectivity perspective and been able to generate java from the BAPI's.  (when this process occurs, a message during the process states that a WSDL is generated.  Where is it located?) The xx_PortType class that is generated is not availible for a web service because the input and output types that are gen'd for it are not serializable.  Not to be lazy but I could code a frontend and gen a web service from that, but I'm suprised that I can't find anything in the tooling to do this for me.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thx in advance...

Hi Casey,
you can follow Thomas Jung's Weblogs: <a href="/people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/11/15/bsp-150-a-developer146s-journal-part-xiii-developing-abap-webservices ABAP WebServices</a> and <a href="/people/thomas.jung3/blog/2005/01/05/develop-a-web-service-that-sends-an-email--in-abap a Web Service that sends an Email - in ABAP</a>.
Try to use the SDN Search in future. :-).

  • Calling a Web Service from R/3 4.7 (Web AS 6.20)

    Hello,
    I would need to call a SOAP Web Service from an R/3 ABAP Transaction. In particular, by clicking on a button a should get a set of data coming from an external Java application exposing a web service for that. I also have XI 3.0 in the middle. What is the best scenario I could implement? Thanks a lot. Luigi

    Hi!!!
    I would do this scenario as a synchronous one:
    [SAP R/3][ABAP proxy objects] <-> [XI]<->[SOAP Adapter]<--->[external java app]
    In your ABAP transaction you will have to execute ABAP proxy method to send a message to XI. If it's not your transaction, you can use user-exit.
    BTW, I have an experience with XI 2.0, not with 3.0, so I used a XI 2.0 terminology.

  • Pointers regarding consuming a external web-service from SAP

    Hi All,
            I am trying to consume a web-service from an external system using a URL.
    Our SAP system version is 4.7. I have created a custom program and calling up the web service using HTTP POST method.
    For this I referred the following weblog.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/847. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
    I modified the program according to my requirements and called the web service, but I am facing certain issues.
    1. The if_http_client->send method executed successfully (sy-subrc eq 0). But the next call to the method
        if_http_client->receive the program shows error.The message is very long one and I am not able to see it fully in debugging mode.
    Please help me with the following questions.
    1. Is there any way I can read the message returned from the web-service to see what the error was? In 4.7 we don't have the recording function as in 6.0.
    2. I have disable the login prompt by calling if_http_client->propertytype_logon_popup = http_client->co_disabled.
    If I don't do that it shows me a SAP Web AS login screen. Shouldn't it show me the standard http login screen?
    3.In that login screen if I provide my ID password it returns the following message
    'Business Server Page (BSP) ErrorBSPexception:Access to URL :<Server>:<80>/ORABPEL/DEFAULT/READDATA1/1.0 is forbidden'
    Any pointers what does it mean?
    4. This method seems a very lengthy process to me. Is there any other approach to this issue?
    TIA
    Barada.

    The error for Authorization was because of the HTTP proxy settings for the system.
    I configured the proxy settings in the transaction SICF->Goto->Http Proxy and then the program worked fine.

  • Consume External Web Service from ABAP

    Hello All,
    I have a Web Service existing on a Non R/3 system.
    I want to access this Web Service from my Development system (SAP 6.40).
    I created a Client Proxy pointing to this WSDL named "ZUSER_ARS_EXCHANGECO_UPDATE".
    I have created an FM to call this Web Service and update the data to it with the following code ->
    DATA: lv_proxy TYPE REF TO zuser_ars_exchangeco_update,
            ws_header TYPE REF TO if_wsprotocol_ws_header,
            sys_fault TYPE REF TO cx_ai_system_fault,
            appl_fault TYPE REF TO cx_ai_application_fault,
            lv_request TYPE zuser_ars_exchangecreate_soap1,
            lv_response TYPE zuser_ars_exchangecreate_soap.
      TRY.
          CREATE OBJECT lv_proxy
          EXPORTING
            logical_port_name = 'TO_ARS'
        CATCH cx_ai_system_fault .
      ENDTRY.
      MOVE-CORRESPONDING ip_userdata TO lv_request-parameters.
      TRY.
          CALL METHOD lv_proxy->create
            EXPORTING
              input  = lv_request
            IMPORTING
              output = lv_response.
        CATCH cx_ai_system_fault INTO sys_fault.
          IF sys_fault IS NOT INITIAL.
            RAISE proxy_create_system_fault.
          ENDIF.
        CATCH cx_ai_application_fault INTO appl_fault.
          IF appl_fault IS NOT INITIAL.
            RAISE proxy_create_appl_fault.
          ENDIF.
      ENDTRY.
    But when I am trying to execute, I am getting the error "cx_ai_system_fault " with the following Error Text -> "ARERR [149] Im Steuerungsdatensatz muss ein Benutzername angegeben werden." When translated to English, using Google, it is "ARERR [149] The control record must be a user name."
    The WSDL has a line as follows -> soap:header message="s0:ARAuthenticate"
    How do I pass the username and password to this "ARAuthenticate" parameter?
    Can someone please help me in getting this fixed?
    Thanks and Regards
    Gladson Jacob

    I created an HTTP RFC Destination to the WSDL URL and provided the username and password in the RFC Connection. And called the RFC Destination in the Proxy, instead of calling the URL directly in the proxy. But after that, I am getting some new errors, for which I have not received a solution yet. So, still stuck!!!
    For steps on creating a Proxy, I need to know the ABAP version your are using.

  • QName error while calling a web service from Sourcing

    I need to call a web service from Sourcing script. The web service team has provided us the WSDL and I have generated the required stubs using wsimport and packaged the required java classes in a custom JAR. The same jar and same code works fine when called from a standalone java program.
    I am not using or creating QName anywhere in my script. The only place where QName is used is in the generated java class and there it is created from the correct namespace URL
    Can anyone please help me out in figuring out what is the issue?

  • Invoking web service from OBIEE11g failed socket timeout

    Hi,
    I encountered an error when I invoke web service from OBIEE 11g. The web serivce resides on Websphere running on other machine.
    An error says that "Invoking web service failed due to socket timeout." and it seems that it stopped in just 40 secs.
    Is there any settings of WebLogic server to avoid this? This web service normally runs for more than 60 sec.
    I have checked several parameters in WebLogic admin console and changed those values, but I still receive the same error.
    Invoking the same web service from SOAPUI sustains for more than 60 secs.
    Regards,

    Don't be too surprised. Sun figured this bug out in short order. I got the same error message when trying to do the same thing, just for the heck of it. Reference this article for details.
    http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/ea2/jaxrpc/ReleaseNotes.html
    It contains information about bugs fixed in the WSDP EA2. So in answer to your question, download the newer pack from
    http://java.sun.com/webservices/downloads/webservicespack.html
    and your bug will go away. Happy Coding.

  • When to use Java Web Service from WSDL, Webservice proxy, Web Service DataControl -- JDeveloper 11.1.1.7

    Hi Experts!
    I am having confusion among these 3 services provided in Oracle ADF. When to use and what service needs to be used?
    Once we generate Webservice WSDL. With the WSDL we have 3  options in Jdeveloper to invoke this service.
    1. Java Web Service From WSDL.
    2. Web Service proxy,
    3. Web Service Data Control.
    Can anyone give us some brief description of these 3 services when do we need to use and which service is to be used for which scenario ?
    Please give me your valuable inputs.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Guravaiah Tata.

    Hi,
    Can you share your WSDL.
    You can send it to me at [email protected]

    1) Is it possible to create custom object web service and used in external system ?
    2) When we create the Web service from custom business object what the necessary steps(action : Create , Read , Update) require?
    3) Sample Scenario :
    My Custom Business Object

    3) How i can use this web service in external system? what are the prerequisite steps in external system to consume this service in it?
    Please anyone have idea about this how to do this and how to achieve this using SDK and custom business object.
    Many Thanks

    Hello Mithun,
    Does this section in the documentation help you:
    SAP Cloud Applications Studio Help -> Developers Desktop -> Web Services
    The entry "Task -> Create a Web Service" describes how to create a Web Service on your own BO
    The entry "Task -> Test a Web Service" helps you how you can use it in a foreign tool / application.

  • Parse errors while creating a Web service from Java class!

    Can anybody tell me please, is it possible to create a Web Service from java class where the input from user is required ?
    I have the following program, which is successfully compiled, but when I'm trying to make a web service in JDeveloper, the following error occurs:
    "Validation failed.
    The implementation class primePackage.isPrime ofport type MyWebService contains parse errors."
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    class isPrime
    public static void main (String args[])
    Scanner reader = new Scanner(System.in);
    int n;
    System.out.println ("Enter a number you want to know is it prime or not");
    n=reader.nextInt();
    if (isPrime(n))
    System.out.println ("True");
    else
    System.out.println ("False");
    static boolean isPrime (int n)
    int i=2;
    while (i<=n-1)
    if (n%i==0)
    return false;
    i++;
    return true;
    }

    Hi,
    Can anybody tell me please, is it possible to create
    a Web Service from java class where the input from
    user is required ?Yes, the parameters of your method will be mapped in WSDL.
    But i've some considerations about your code.
    I suggest you change the name of isPrime do Prime, its a good code convention to put the name of class starting with Upper case. and isn't good the name of class equals to name of method.
    I suggest you to change the "static boolean isPrime (int n)" to "public boolean isPrime(int n)" to publish a method as a WebService method it's must be public and not static. After this change try to generate your Web Service.
    Regards.

    Guys,
    You are asking about an issue that was a pain in the nick for me few months ago. The problem is that you won't find mych help here as I figured out that Apex geeks here either did not do much webservices or ended up hating it as i do :) . This is an error that can be due many different reason, let me ask you this:
    1- Does your the other system you are trying to call through webservices using HTTPS ?
    2- If yes, did you create a valid oracle wallet for that https connection ?
    3- Make sure you are using the correct URL ( am sure you do, just double check )
    4- If using a proxy, then you have to define that in the web service reference creation page
    provide more info and I hope I can help you with this,
    Sam

  • Create web service from java class in Jdeveloper 11g

    I have very simple java class which I want to expose as a web service. I am using the Jdeveloper's in-built wizard to "Creat Web Service" from a java class. While doing so when I am selecting a method to be exposed as a web service, I get a error pop-up which says "Failed to load system class."
    I am not able to understand the reson for this error. I tried to do this with a very simple java code too but still no luck!!
    Here is the code:
    public class DownloadFileFromECMWrapper {
    public DownloadFileFromECMWrapper() {}
    public static void main(String args[]){
    DownloadFileFromECMWrapper obj = new DownloadFileFromECMWrapper();
    obj.callDownloadFileFromECM("C:\\shivam\\MyFile.txt");
    public String callDownloadFileFromECM(String filePath){
    System.out.println(filePath);
    return filePath;
    Can someone please help me on this.

  • Create an SAP Web Service Consumer (calling External Sharepoint Web Service from ABAP)

    hi all,
    i am trying to
    Create an SAP Web Service Consumer (calling sharepoint Web Service from ABAP) using blog given on following link
    Create an SAP Web Service Consumer (calling External Web Service from ABAP)
    but when i am using my url at the end of step 3, i am getting error as follows:
    i dont want to use local file option. Can anyone help me in this??
    thanks in advance
    regards,
    SDS

    Hi SDS,
    you recieved a http 404 error when trying to access the Sharepoint Web service. Http 404 indicates that the resource is not reachable (cf. HTTP 404 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). There could be different reasons for that. I'd suggest rubble checking the URL of the Web service first. Try to access it from a browser on you desktop. If the URL is correc. Most likely the SAP system is not able to connect to the URL. This could, for example, be due to some firewall restrictions. You should ask a SAP Basis colleague if they are able to access the URL of the Web service from the server on which the SAP system is running.

  • Creating PL/SQL web services from PL/SQL records

    Hello
    Jdeveloper does not allow to create web services from pl/sql packages that use PL/SQL records.to do this,we have to use the jpublisher ?without using the jpublisher,if we create a webservice then the following error is displayed in the web service xml output file.
    <faultstring>Internal Server Error (Caught exception while handling request: java.rmi.RemoteException: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 49: PLS-00181: unsupported preprocessor directive '$WS_SP_EVEN' )</faultstring>
    </env:Fault>
    Could any one suggest me, how to solve the above issue..?
    Regards
    Malathi

    Thank you, with db adapter it was working and also
    pl/sql web-services working successfully with object types.If we want to send the web-services to the client, do we need to send the entire folder that is created in the web-services folder of the external oc4j..?
    Creating the client process:
    we are using the wsdl file that is generated in the web-services and adding to the partner link to Invoke the operations of web-services. Is there any other way to invoke the webservices?Could any one please suggest me?
    Thanking you
