Email preferences vanished

I am using apples mail 1.3.9 (v619) that came with 10.3.7 panther. somehow the preferences for the email was replaced with a panel named "rules". In this panel you can add, edit, duplicate, or remove rules. Currently the only rule in there is "news from apple". Also, Another thing that is different is the title of the in box which has two titles 1. "[email protected]" and 2. "on my mac". This is the same for sent and trash messages. There used to be only one title. [email protected] is my new email I just put into the system.
Everything seems to work fine, but I would like to make some changes in the preferences. I reloaded 10.3.7 with the bundled software - didn't change anything. Does anyone have an idea how to fix it.

If you're not seeing the bar of icons across the top of Mail's preferences window, click the little doodad on the right side of the title bar. That'll make it show up again. Then you can just click the icon for the preference pane you want.

  • How to edit email preferences in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

    I have adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
    I would like to edit my email preferences so that when I create an email with the PDF as an attachment the name of the file will automatically also be the subject line of the email.
    according to the help instructions, I should find this by: " open the Preferences dialog box, and under Categories, select Email Accounts."
    In my version, "Email Accounts" does not appear in the categories list.
    Where do I go to edit email preferences?

    thank you for the suggestion, but I do not have a "Send Email" or "Submit" button available in my version. I have "Attach to email" option which automatically opens a new message in MS outlook (which I did not set up, it just started doing so automatically) without any further dialogue boxes or options.
    Also, this is only for regular PDF files, not forms.

    How can I find my email in Apple Mail from before my company switched hosting providers?  People with Outlook in my company have all of their old and new emails.  My old emails have vanished from my Apple Mailbox on my macbook and other Apple devices.  I do not have my mail backed up in time machine recently nor did I export my emailbox recently.  Any ideas?

    Try looking in your User folder.
    Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Mail/V2
    If you prefer to make your User library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    Show User Library
    You might want to bookmark the command. I have to use it again after every update. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • "rules" in email preferences isn't blocking what I said to block

    I am trying to sell some construction equipment on CraigsList and one of the posts has the word "single" in it for a single stage rolling scaffold. Now I am receiving email solicitations that I don't want to view and I would definately not want my children to view. I set the posting up so my address was anonomous but the unwanted photos keep coming. I went into my email preferences under "rule" and created a list and every time I get one, I add the address to the list that is suppose to delete the email.
    I have put the senders complete address and also found that most of them are either @gmx or @hotmail, so I put that if it "contains" in the "from" any part it is to be automatically "deleted" but I am still receving them.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated please.
    Happy New Year!

    Highlight one or some, right click & choose Apply Rules... does that trash them?

  • Email preference centre - default opt-out

    Hi there,
    We built an email preference centre with corresponding landing page in Eloqua and are good to go for a trial to assess the impact on our global unsubscribe rate. One thing remains however. We cannot seem to find how to make the tick boxes on the landing pages ticked by default, i.e. to let people opt out instead of opt in. Where can we enable this? Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Kristoff

    We did the same thing in our instance of Eloqua.  We are using a beta version where email address is not the unique identifier.  We use SFDC Contact ID as our unique identifier as we have multiple contacts who use the same email address.
    We created custom subscription pages for each of our lines of business (aka Eloqua form on an Eloqua landing page). On our landing pages, we had check boxes that they could check to opt out of receiving a specific newsletter or type of campaign such as promotional communications or tradeshows, etc....
    The first step was to create a field for each of those options in the database and we sent the field to be automatically checked when a new contact was added.  We had to do an initial download though of all the contacts, added those fields to the spreadsheet and then populated them with a "1" to make the box checked on the subscription page.  We also offered an option to check a box to remove them from all future marketing communications which would automatically uncheck all the other boxes on the form and subsequently turn those values to "0". Then we use filters to make sure we don't send to anyone who has a value of "1" in the field if they have opted out of receiving any communications.
    In order to make it work though, we had to add JavaScript to each of the landing pages to check and uncheck boxes based on what they chose.  Here is the code for one of my pages:
    <script type="text/javascript">
        var _elqQ = _elqQ || [];
        _elqQ.push(['elqSetSiteId', '1499497143']);
    _elqQ.push(['elqTrackPageView']);
        (function () {
            function async_load() {
                var s = document.createElement('script'); s.type = 'text/javascript'; s.async = true;
                s.src = '//img03.en25.com/i/elqCfg.min.js';
                var x = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; x.parentNode.insertBefore(s, x);
            if (window.addEventListener) window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', async_load, false);
            else if (window.attachEvent) window.attachEvent('onload', async_load);
    </script><script type='text/javascript' language='JavaScript'>
      var elqContact = '<span class="eloquaemail" >SFDC_Contact_ID1</span>';
    function setFormFieldValue(elqForm, strFormFieldName, strContactFieldName){
        if (elqForm.elements[strFormFieldName])
    elqForm.elements[strFormFieldName].value = GetElqContentPersonalizationValue(strContactFieldName);
    function SetElqContent(){
        if (this.GetElqContentPersonalizationValue){
            var elqForm;

                for (var elemIndex = 0; elemIndex < document.forms[formIndex].length; elemIndex++)
                    if (document.forms[formIndex].elements[elemIndex].name == "elqFormName")
                        if (document.forms[formIndex].elements[elemIndex].value == "OpticsGroupCustomSubscriptionPageForm-142111")
                            elqForm = document.forms[formIndex];

  • Change "Full Name" in iCloud Email Preferences

    I must have entered a wrong "Full Name" in my iCloud email preferences in the beginning and would like to change that. Unfortunately it always tells me: "The “Incoming Mail Server” field cannot be empty". How can I access that field? I've tried it, but it would not let me.

    If you created a new iCloud account it would have a new associated iCloud email account.  You wouldn't be able to move your current @icloud.com address to the new account.
    Just to double-check, after quitting (Command-Q) and re-opening Mail, did you start an new message and click the down-arrow next to From to see if the new sender name was available from the drop-down list (see image below)?  If so, you might try signing out of iCloud entirely.  To do this, go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then sign back in and test Mail again.  (This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your Mac, but not from iCloud.  Your iCloud data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in.)

  • Problem saving email preferences for new iCloud email address

    I was trying to enter a new email address for iCloud in the Apple Mail program and after clicking save I receive the following message,"Writing your preferences to disk has failed. Your preferences may not have been saved. The permissions on ~/Library/Preferences may be wrong or your disk may be fullI'  I know the disk is not full on my new MacBook Pro. I went into LIbrary/Preferences but could not find the mail preferences.
    The preferences have not been saved because every I time I start the computer the new email is missing from my email preferences.
    Thanks for your help.

    While you can't currently change your Apple ID to a Mobile/iCloud email address, I found a solution that helps with a related problem.
    Suppose you've recently got an iCloud email address, but Apple are still sending all your iTunes Store, App Store and Mac App Store receipts to your old gmail address (the one that's still your Apple ID). And suppose they're also sending all the Apple Support Communities notifcation emails to your old gmail address. How do you change it? How do you fix it?
    Well the option exists, but it is hidden away in a weird place. To get Apple sending all of their receipts and notifications to your new iCloud email address...
    • Go to your country's Apple Store website http://store.apple.com/
    • Click on the Account button in the top-right corner
    • Under Account Settings, click on Change your default shipping or billing info
    • Sign in with your usual Apple ID and password
    • The email address listed under Payment Information is the key
    • Click on Edit next to Payment Information and change that email address to your iCloud address
    That's all you have to do.

    i get too many ASC emails ... tried Frank Caggiano's solution ... even have all my email preferences set to NO .... but problem still unsolved....any suggestion? by the way, how do i unlist myself from ASC?

    You cannot unlist yourself from the ASC. Only a host can do that and there has to be a very good reason for doing so, like a privacy concern or issue, something like that. If you do not want to participate in the community, just quit posting.
    Did you also check the box at the top of the post that you participated in and check Stop Email Notifications? It is in the Actions Box in the upper right corner of each page on the website. You have to go back to the post that you were in and select that as well.
    Do you see the Actions Box in the upper right corner of this screenshot?
