Error: `interface' is undefined in /etc/rc.conf

Hi.
I started to get this error (couple days ago, I guess) with the following setup:
/etc/rc.conf
interface=
address=
netmask=
broadcast=
gateway=
# Setting this to "yes" will skip network shutdown.
# This is required if your root device is on NFS.
NETWORK_PERSIST="no"
# Enable these netcfg profiles at boot-up. These are useful if you happen to
# need more advanced network features than the simple network service
# supports, such as multiple network configurations (ie, laptop users)
# - set to 'menu' to present a menu during boot-up (dialog package required)
# - prefix an entry with a ! to disable it
# Network profiles are found in /etc/network.d
# This requires the netcfg package
NETWORKS=(eth0 eth1)
/etc/network.d/eth0
CONNECTION='ethernet'
DESCRIPTION='A basic static ethernet connection using iproute'
INTERFACE='eth0'
IP='static'
ADDR='192.168.101.8'
GATEWAY='192.168.101.1'
DNS=('192.168.101.11' '208.67.222.222' '64.59.160.13')
/etc/netwotk.d/eth1.
CONNECTION='ethernet'
DESCRIPTION='A basic static ethernet connection using iproute'
INTERFACE='eth1'
IP='static'
ADDR='192.168.102.8'
Any idea how to get rid of this error message? The network is working though.

Raynman wrote:Remove 'network' from DAEMONS array (if it's in there). You should only need net-profiles for netcfg.
Thanks! That was the problem. It also starts (significantly) faster now. :-)

  • Error in Doc B15661-01: /etc/sysctl.conf rmem & wmem

    Editing the file /etc/sysctl.conf
    there is an error/typo in the kernel parameters, on Suse 9
    the entries should be like this:
    net.core.rmem_default = 262144
    net.core.rmem_max = 262144
    net.core.wmem_default = 262144
    net.core.wmem_max = 262144
    This should make the changes permanent.

  • Can /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf config affect php error display?

    If error display is on in php.ini, can anything from "/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf" affect this option so errors won't be shown?

    Yes, with PHP as Apache module, a directive like:
    php_admin_flag display_errors off
    can or, eventually:
    php_admin_value error_reporting <number>
    But these shouldn't be used.

  • Error -Call to undefined function: ocilogon() ( Php4.4+ Apache2.2 +Windows)

    1) Configured Php4.4 to have oci8 enabled with Apache2.2 on Windows 2000 ( service pack4). No error at the time of Apache start but when trying to connect to Oracle using Oracle Instant Client below error is thrown..
    "Fatal error: Call to undefined function: ocilogon() in C:\Apache2 \htdocs\star\dbconnect.php on line 7"
    Configuration steps..
    1) Uncommented "extension=php_oci8.dll" in php.ini to enable oci API's.
    2)Configured Oracle Instant client by adding path to Windows path variable as per it documentation.
    3)Copied all Php4.4 dlls( oci..etc) into the directory pointed by "PHPIniDir", which is configured in httpd.conf
    If i run phpinfo(), i dont see oci8 enabled in the output. I guess there is problem in the configuration? Any insights into the error is greatly appreciated..
    BTW, I did same configuartion on Windows XP and is working fine..

    Also, I dont see path value for path variable in phpinfo() ouput for Oracle Instant Client, which i updated in Windows?

  • Settings in /etc/sysctl.conf overwritten [SOLVED]

    I added a new line to /etc/sysctl.conf setting the vm.dirty_ratio to 3 (line is simply `vm.dirty_ratio = 3`).  I can invoke it by running `sysctl -p` so I know the syntax is correct.  This setting is however not loaded upon a reboot.  The systemd-sysctl.service is however kicked off just  fine and completes without errors.  I have also tried removing the line from /etc/sysctl.conf and placing it in /etc/sysctl.d/dirty.conf but again, it is not honored at boot.  What am I doing wrong?
    EDIT: The solution is in post #31 - acknowledgement to chp for pointing me to it.  Note that I also changed to topic to a more relevant one.

    Guess I'm stumped.  I just spun up an Arch VM, pasted in the /etc/sysctl.conf below and reboot it.  All the settings in the file in the VM are applied.  If Leonid's guess that something is overriding these values on my workstation, I would like to figure out what it is and shut it down.  To keep things simple, I booted into the stock ARCH kernel; here are the services I have active:

    If pacman didn't install a *.pacnew version of the config file that means that your makepkg.conf is up to date or, in either case, the same as the default one installed by the package.

    First problem I encountered was there were no oci8 title in phpinfo.php,
    Second was when I compiled the oci8test.php it brings this error,
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function ocilogon() in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\ocisample.php on line 3
    As I said, I have followed exactly what was specified in the instructions, yet the error is persistent.
    Actions taken:
    restarted apache
    checked folder locations
    checked php.ini-recommended
    checked httpd.conf
    everything is where they need to be.
    I need help.
    Thanks everyone. Have a nice day.

    If this is line #3, then try changing "//127.0.0.1/XE" to "localhost", or better yet to your TNS alias, which is typically "XE".
    $db_conn = ocilogon("hr", "your_hr_password", "//127.0.0.1/XE");
    It should look like this if you're using a USER account of test with a password of test:
    $db_conn = ocilogon("test","test","XE");

    ok, so before I had my mysql_connect php script and it ran fine, no errors, but once I changed my php.ini file to give ERROR_REPORTING E_ALL I now get Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect(). I am just wondering how I can fix this?

    Thanks
    this is my php code

    aking9 wrote:grabbing into the back of the back of my memory here but don't you need to specify a port to connect to?
    Only if you change the port from the default 3306. But even then, a different error message will output, in this case the mysql modules have not loaded for some reason.
    There is a syntax error in your php.ini file, at line 510. Comment out this line as it's a line giving information rather than an option. Then uncomment the error_reporting option.
    So this:
    Default Value: E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE
    ; Development Value: E_ALL | E_STRICT
    ; Production Value: E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED
    ; http://php.net/error-reporting
    ;error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED
    Should be changed to this:
    ; Default Value: E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE
    ; Development Value: E_ALL | E_STRICT
    ; Production Value: E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED
    ; http://php.net/error-reporting
    error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED
    After this try "sudo /etc/rc.d/httpd restart" then see if you have any better luck connecting to mysql.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • /etc/resolv.conf between netctl profile switches

    Hi, all.
    I use same laptop at home and in my office. Network is managed by netct. At home I connect using a profile generated by wifi-menu, in the office — plain ethernet-dhcp profile form examples folder.
    With both connections nameservers are obtained via dhcp.
    The issue is that after switching from office ethernet-dhcp to my home wi-fi netctl profile, /etc/resolve.conf retains nameserver and domain entries from the office connection. My home's nameserver entry gets appended to the end of the resolv.conf file. This, of course, causes unacceptable delays when resolving domain names, so I have to edit /etc/resolve.conf manually every time I've been using that office's connection.
    I'm wondering whether there is something wrong with my setup.
    Profiles are nothing special, as I said:
    Description='Automatically generated profile by wifi-menu'
    Interface=wlp3s0
    Connection=wireless
    Security=wpa
    ESSID=my_ssid
    IP=dhcp
    Key=my_passwd
    Description='A dhcp ethernet connection'
    Interface=enp0s25
    Connection=ethernet
    IP=dhcp
    DHCPClient='dhcpcd'
    Please, help me to resolve that issue. Feel free to ask for more details if needed.
    Thanks in advance for help.

    2branch,
    I switch them with netctl switch-to command, which is incorrect, as I understand now.
    Important notice is that I unplug ethernet cord first, and then I perform a switch.
    Also I tried disabling ethernet-dhcp explicitly after switching to wlp3s0 — not helped.
    I checked /run/resolvconf/interfaces, and found that enp0s25 is missing. Instead, I have tun0, which contains problematic entries.

    An alternative would be to remove the contents of /etc/fonts/conf.d and reinstall the fontconfig package. Then follow the instructions in the wiki to get a better font rendering.

    The rc.conf is correct because there are two diffrent subnets.
    My PS3 is connected to my computer via ethernet.
    The computer is connected via wifi to the router (ip 192.168.2.1).
    When using /etc/rc.d/network to start ethernet everything works perfect, the PS3 can stream video from the computer and access internet.
