  • Outlook 2013 XLS Attachments cannot be opened in Excel 2013 due to Trusted Center restrictions with Outlook Secure Temp Folder

    Dear all,
    I'm having some serious issues with Office 2013's Trusted Center settings. In Outlook 2013 XLS Attachments cannot be directly opened in Excel 2013 with double-clicking due to Trusted Center restrictions for Excel 2013 regarding Outlook's Secure Temp Folder.
    I tried to adjust the corresponding Office 2013 Administrative Template within my GPOs but to no prevail.
    I did find out that Outlook 2013 places an attachment within the Outlook Secure Temp Folder located at "C:\Users\a.ollischer\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\PPIU10RW” before passing it to Excel 2013 in order to
    open it. It fails due to not trusting this location though I added the corresponding path to my Trusted Locations.
    What can I do in order to make this work without having to tediously save each and every attachment to "My Documents" prior to opening it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Maurice 7785,
    Deal and customize attachment security behavior to access such kind of blocked file format. Usually, Outlook does not allow users to open such unsafe type of attachments. It means they are blocked them by default, so you need to unblock such items using REG
    values.

  • HT4399 I have a Mac Book Air and have purchased individually numbers and pages.  I was given an excel file on a thumb drive and cannot open it.  Is there a way to open the xcl file in numbers?

    I have a MacBook Air, and have purchased individually Numbers and Pages.  I was sent an Excel file on a thumb drive but cannot open the file.  The message states that the Excel file is encryeted.  Is ther any way to open a PC file on my Mac Book Air?
    Pat and Bob

    Excel does not use the .xcl extension for any of its native file formats?  The only files I've ever seen with xcl as the file extension were associated with embedded application code projects.
    If this is in fact an Excel file, but an encrypted one, you cannot open it (in excel or any compatible application) without the decryption password.

  • Cannot copy and paste in an Excel 2010 file

    Cannot copy and paste in an Excel 2010 file
    The user has modify rights, and on other files it works fine. She can save and do everything with the file except copy and then past to another tab in the same file or a new one. Or anywhere.
    We tried the file with a different user from the same department and there it does work.
    I tried to disable the X-com plugins and disable OVF for performance also. Nothing works...anybody knows maybe what the issue might be ?
    The file is on a network drive on a domain and does work on another user to copy and paste.  I have not let her log in with the same user account n test it on a different system so I asked and will get a update soon. There are no error messages the
    paste option is greyed out.

    Hi,
    How about the issue now, is it solved?
    This issue might be caused by her user profile. What the result would be if using another user account to log on her computer to test this issue.
    Also do you have the same problem when you open excel in Safe Mode?
    Try opening Excel without any Add-ins or hidden workbooks:
    Press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the excel program.

    Hi,
    Which Excel version are you using? As far as I know, this issue is caused by malware on the affected machine.There are now two known variants of malware which causes this problem: Win32/Crilock.A and
    Win32/Buma!rts. They have both been identified as a new family of ransomware.
    We'd better clean your machine, run Microsoft Safety Scanner (http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx).

  • Error (IES 10901) (WIS 10901) when using Excel 2010 file as data source..

    Hello,
    I have a annoying issue with using an excel 2010 file as a data source for a universe. Here is the background information.
    Setup.
    Client: Laptop running Win XP 32bit, Client tools installed with SP2 v9 (latest)
    Server: Win 2008 x64, BOE 4.0 SP2 v9  (latest)
    Task:
    1. On Client, with information design tool, created Project, DB Connection, Data foundation using an excel source on a share
    server\share\data.xlsx
    2.. Published everything to Repository
    3. Try to load univerise in Web Intelligence via creating a new report. I Drag accross the dimensions. When i go to preview data recieve error
    Database error: [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] External table is not in the expected format.. (IES 10901) (WIS 10901)
    4. If i change the excel file to a 2003 format *.xls it all works correctly. Issue being that 2003 cannot hold as much data as a 2010 file so i need to use 2010.
    Extra Notes:
    1. Both the client and server have the latest Access drivers http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=13255
    2. Both client and server have a system DSN setup using the 32bit ODBC, same DSN names to the network share.
    3. The data excel source sits on the server on a share.
    4. I am believing that the isssue is within the area of BOE as when you connect to the excel file via ODBC using crystal 2011, you need to right click on the connection and tick "System Tables" to be able to use the excel 2010 file. The BOE Information design tool does not seem to have this option??
    Any advice with this would be great?
    thanks

    When running an xml publisher report the xml output leads to 9 mb and the excel output file leads to 20 mb. The records contained in excel file is 4000 records. When taking the excel records and copy to new excel file the excel file size is 3.5 mb only.Why does the oracle software generates 20mb file?
    Does any one knows the answer please advice?

    Hello,
    This issue is because the Excel output from BI Publisher is MHTML (XML Publisher generates XHTML) not binary .xls.
    MHTML and XHTML are more verbose formats than binary .xls.
    It will be large because the current Excel output is just an HTML and not compressed like PDF. Please use the workaround (save it as .xls file).  This is a known limitation of RTF layout templates.
    BI Publisher Enterprise has a new feature True Excel Templates. The layouts generate binary Excel output.
    Excel Output File Size Generated By BI Publisher is Very Large (Doc ID 760437.1)

    Hi,
    Here are the basic steps needed to read data from excel spreadsheet using the Java Excel API(jExcel API).
    jExcel API can read a spreadsheet from a file stored on the local file system or from some input stream, ideally the following should be the steps while reading:
    Create a workbook from a file on the local file system, as illustrated in the following code fragment:
              import java.io.File;
              import java.util.Date;
              import jxl.*;
             Workbook workbook = Workbook.getWorkbook(new File("test.xls"));
    On getting access to the worksheet, once can use the following code piece to access  individual sheets. These are zero indexed - the first sheet being 0, the  second sheet being 1, and so on. (You can also use the API to retrieve a sheet by name).
              Sheet sheet = workbook.getSheet(0);
    After getting the sheet, you can retrieve the cell's contents as a string by using the convenience method getContents(). In the example code below, A1 is a text cell, B2 is numerical value and C2 is a date. The contents of these cells may be accessed as follows
    Cell a1 = sheet.getCell(0,0);
    Cell b2 = sheet.getCell(1,1);
    Cell c2 = sheet.getCell(2,1);
    String a1 = a1.getContents();
    String b2 = b2.getContents();
    String c2 = c2.getContents();
    // perform operations on strings
    However in case we need to access the cell's contents as the exact data type ie. as a numerical value or as a date, then the retrieved Cell must be cast to the correct type and the appropriate methods called. The code piece given below illustrates how JExcelApi may be used to retrieve a genuine java double and java.util.Date object from an Excel spreadsheet. For completeness the label is also cast to it's correct type. The code snippet also illustrates how to verify that cell is of the expected type - this can be useful when performing validations on the spreadsheet for presence of correct datatypes in the spreadsheet.
      String a1 = null;
      Double b2 = 0;
      Date c2 = null;
                        Cell a1 = sheet.getCell(0,0);
                        Cell b2 = sheet.getCell(1,1);
                        Cell c2 = sheet.getCell(2,1);
                        if (a1.getType() == CellType.LABEL)
                           LabelCell lc = (LabelCell) a1;
                           stringa1 = lc.getString();
                         if (b2.getType() == CellType.NUMBER)
                           NumberCell nc = (NumberCell) b2;
                           numberb2 = nc.getValue();
                          if (c2.getType() == CellType.DATE)
                            DateCell dc = (DateCell) c2;
                            datec2 = dc.getDate();
                           // operate on dates and doubles
    It is recommended to, use the close()  method (as in the code piece below)   when you are done with processing all the cells.This frees up any allocated memory used when reading spreadsheets and is particularly important when reading large spreadsheets.
              // Finished - close the workbook and free up memory
              workbook.close();
    The API class files are availble in the 'jxl.jar', which is available for download.
    Regards
    Raghu

  • Import data from ABAP program to Excell template file

    Hello everyone
    I have  a such task: In abap program I have fields(screen fields), which I want to import into excell file. I don't want to export into empty file but into ready template .xls. Is there any possibility to match corresponding fields?
    I really need to know, I will be gratefully for any suggestions.
    Greetings

    Hi Katarzyna ,
    something like
    DATA: EXCEL TYPE OLE2_OBJECT.
    DATA: BOOKS TYPE OLE2_OBJECT.
    DATA: BOOK  TYPE OLE2_OBJECT.
    DATA: CELL  TYPE OLE2_OBJECT.
    DATA: FONT  TYPE OLE2_OBJECT.
    DATA: FILE  TYPE OLE2_OBJECT.
      CREATE OBJECT EXCEL 'EXCEL.APPLICATION'.
      CALL METHOD OF EXCEL 'WORKBOOKS' = FILE.
      CALL METHOD OF  FILE 'OPEN' EXPORTING #1 = P_FILE
                                            #2 = 1.
      CALL METHOD OF EXCEL 'CELLS' = CELL EXPORTING #1 = P_LINE
                                                    #2 = P_COLUMN.
      SET PROPERTY OF CELL 'VALUE' = P_VALUE.
      CALL METHOD OF EXCEL 'QUIT'.
    This is just a compilation from a complex program. Do some modularization (i.e. create FORM fill_cell using P_line P_column P_value...)
    Hope I did not forget anything. Meanwhile we have much more modern and advanced methods and classes - this one is of 2000 (Release 4.5?).

  • Create an Excel format file in background w/DATASET Cmds?

    I have heard that you can create a file into an excel format file in background mode using dataset commands - anyone know how to do this?  Thanks!

    Hi Stephen,
    Use Open dataset, Transfer, Close dataset to create file on Application server.
    Use FM Z_CONV_ITAB_TO_TAB_DELIMITED to convert your lines in TAB delimited format. you can download file from your application server to presentation server using T Code CG3Y and give extension as .xls ...
    As you data is Tab delimited it will automatically get formatted in columns in your EXCEL file.

  • SSRS report Excel Export file size is huge

    Hello everyone,
    I am facing an issue with SSRS report exporting  to Excel.
    Issue : Exported file size is too big.
    I have a matrix report ( parametrized report ) it fetches data from multiple table.
    initially when
    1) I select all parameters all values
    2) load the report after that
    3) exporting to excel
    so exported file size was about 10 Mb to 12MB
    Now, suddenly from this month exported file size is too big around 62 MB for same data,
    I checked on different forums and tried the solutions but it didn't worked,
    can anyone please suggest me on this.
    My environment is
    Visual studio (BIDS) 2008
    SQL Server 2008 R2
    Excel 2007
    Thanks

    Hi UdayKGR,
    According to your description, when you export a report into an excel file, the exported file size is too huge. Now you want to reduce the file size. Right?
    In this scenario, do you export the report into excel 2003 file? When reports are first exported and saved to Excel 2003, they do not benefit from the file optimization that Excel automatically applies to its *.xls workbook files. The larger file size can
    cause problems for e-mail subscriptions and attachments. To reduce the size of the *.xls files for exported reports, open the *.xls files and then resave the workbooks. Resaving the workbooks typically reduces their file sizes by 40 to 50 percent. Also please
    try to install the Reporting Services 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 and reduce the merged columns in exported excel file. For more information, please see the links below:

  • Opening Excel .xlsx files emailed from Windows computer

    I have been unable to open an Excel .xlsx file sent as an attachment from an Windows computer. I did download the free version of WinZip Mac, and although I can open it, it is a read-only file. I want to be able to make changes and send it back as I am able to with .xls files. Stuffit doesn't work either. Apple support doesn't understand why I am unable to access it properly.

    Considering you are the sender and receiver the solution should be easy. When you are getting ready to save the file on your MS Windows machine instead of saving do a "Save As" and you will see and option to save as .xls format. Once you do that your MS Windows 2004 version on your Mac will be able to read the file. However I think you're wise considering upgrading to Office 2011 on the Mac, that will be much simpler in the long term and you will have a version much more like your Windows version.
    While I never used Excel 2004 on my Mac's I did use Excel 2008 which I disliked. However I have since upgraded to Office 2011 and so far found that to be a really nice product.
    Best of luck,

  • Can I process Excel BIFF5 files, or simply abandon Apache POI?

    To the experienced:
    I am totally new to processing Microsoft Excel files using Java, and embarked on Apache POI. Now it seems I could be completely out of luck because of the Excel files I am to process.
    Now looking back, I realize that what I did with the Excel file I first received (a .xls file) was opening it in Excel 2007 and clicked the Save button. And it was all OK learning POI by processing that file. Now after all the work I have done with that file, I trashed it and got a copy of the original Excel file - as is, without first loading it in Excel 2007 and saving it - and run my java program on it. And I got the following error message talking about BIFF5 and BIFF8:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_18\bin\javaw.exe -client -classpath
    C:\apps11113\JavaExercise\.adf;C:\apps11113\JavaExercise\Basic\classes;C:\java_lib\poi-3.7\poi-3.7-20101029.jar

    POI only supports BIFF8 format (from Excel versions 97/2000/XP/2003)
    My program, when put into production, will run on schedule and unattended, and will have to process the file as is. Am I out of luck and have to look for some other APIs that support BIFF5? Are there such APIs?
    Many thanks for helping!

Are there such APIs?I'm pretty sure that OpenOffice will. One test you could do is try to open your 5.0 file in OpenOffice, save it as an Excel 97/2000 file (+don't+ delete your original :-) ) and check to make sure that everything is working as expected, and then see if your POI program can process that.
    If it works, you could try downloading the OpenOffice SDK. It's also possible that something like jodConverter could do the job for you (it looks a lot easier to use), but you'd need to check their website.
