Help required - Manufacturing KPI's( Best Practice Reporting )

Hi,
I am looking for examples, screenshots, reports, dashboards of manufacturing KPI's    using SAP BI or Business Object.
Could you please let me know where can I get more information about this. can somebody send me some useful information about this.
point will be assigned to helpful answers.

Hi,
1.) Go to this web page:
http://help.sap.com/bp_biv170/index.htm
2.) Click on the "pre-configured scenarios" link at the bottom of the paragraph.
3.) Choose Manufacturing Analysis (or any of the other items for that matter).
4.) Read the scenario documentation.
This will tell you how to install the manufacturing objects and, if you look at the Scenario Overview, will tell you about the Scenario and what it's trying to achieve (e.g., what questions the standard is aiming at solving).

  • RICEFW Best Practices - Reports

    What are some of the best practices to keep in mind when designing any custom report in ECC?  I guess it would also help to have an idea of the capabilities and functionality to know what features I can leverage when writing my functional design.

    when ever you design a report you need to take care of some basic things, like it should fullfill basic necessasity and if you can add additional informations which can be used by other persons also.
    it shuld cover at least 2 process / requirements.
    its appearece should be good.
    Selection criteria shuld be easy and user friendly.
    Try to use includes which makes program faster.

  • Best Practice Report development

    Hi All,
    I am working on a blue print for a BI 7.0 project and I am searching for some information regarding a best practice for the development of queries in the three environments within SAP development/quality/production. I was wondering if there is some documentation which SAP explains the best way to use the different environments within SAP. So what are the important things to keep in consideration when building queries.
    So what are the do's and which things are the absolutely dont's?
    Please advise me if you know where  I can find information regarding this topic..
    Thanks in advance!
    Kindest regards,
    Jens

    Hello Jens!
    Just some experiences from me. Maybe they will help.
    - Differ between standard reports and ad hoc reports. Standard reports are build in dev from BW-Team and transported to prod. Ad hoc reports can be build in all systems from bw power users. Standard reports should only be changeable in dev.
    - Dev should only be for developers. Hold testdata in you quality-system so that users can test changes here.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • System requirement tp install Utilities Best practices(utilities-V1.500)

    Hello All,
    We want to install SAP Best Practices for Utilities (UTILITIES - V1.500) in our landscape. I checked the system requirements proposed by SAP and observed that most of the s/w releases they are reffering to are ECC5 (500) and our system is at release ECC6 (600).  I beleive that there will be a lot of changes in the config nodes of ECC6 from ECC5. So if we install it in our landscape then will it cause a conflict in configuration? So is it advisable to install Utilities Best Practices in our system? Please find below the system requirement proposed by SAP for installation of best practice and RTD system Configuration. Kindly let me know.

  • Help Please!!  SAP Best Practices on creating Projects in NDS...

    We are doing a Proof of Concept on using NDS to develop non-SAP Java applications. We are attempting to determine if we can replace our current Java development tools with NDS/WAS.
    We are struggling with SAP's terminology and "plumbing" for setting up/defining Java projects. For example, what is and when do you define Tracks, Software Components, Development Components, etc. All of these terms are totally foreign to us and do not relate to our current Java environment (at least not that we can see). We are also struggling with how the DTR and activities tie in to those components.
    If any one has defined best practices for setting up Java projects or has struggled with and overcome these same issues, please provide us with some guidance. This is a very frustrating and time-consuming issue for us.
    Thank you!!

    Hi,
    Following URls gives you info about how to install JDI, what are DC's,SC's,how to define Track,how to manage versioning etc..
    You need to install the JDI separately. Go to http://service.sap.com/patches -> Entry by Application Group -> SAP Net Weaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 04 -> NWDI -> JDI 6.40 -> #OS independent

  • Best Practices - reports

    I am looking for advice on best practices for reporting. Test runs generate alot of data and I am not always sure what the best things to report on are.
    In particular I am comparing a number of different code releases over the last few weeks, is page response time the only thing, or most important thing to report on?

    Sorry for the not very detailed reply. You were on the right track though.
    The page response times are an important metric as they, along with error rates, indicated the end user experience. Therefore, I would recommend that any comparison of test runs begin with an analysis of the average response times under load and the transaction failure rate under load. Using e-Load, you could build these graphs as response times/transactions failed and virtual users on a time axis, or use Users as the scale.
    But, in my experience the end user experience is only the beginning of the story, with the impact on the underlying infrastructure telling the other side. As you have already worked out, if the response times at a given level of users are the same the first instinct is to say the new code is as successful. But the CPUs of the application servers might now be at 80% utilization where before they were 50%. So while the end user would see no difference your overall capacity will have dropped. The same could go for other metrics like bandwidth if more or larger images were added to the application, etc.
    System level metrics then like KB/sec, hits per second and pages per second should also be included in the comparison. And these are already available in e-Load. Serverstats can collect the rest of the data for you in most cases.
    At minimum, I would look at CPU on the Web Servers. CPU, memory, requests per second and requests queued on the application servers. And CPU, connections and disk usage on databases. This will be a good start .

  • Help required: Cannot open pdf using Jasper Report in Weblogic workshop 9.2

    This message was accepted by the [email protected] mailing list. Hi ,
    I am new to jasper reports and I am using them in Java Page Flow in bea workshop 9.2
    In one of my action methods
    ServletOutputStream servletOutputStream = getResponse().getOutputStream();
    InputStream reportStream = getServlet().getServletConfig().getServletContext().getResourceAsStream("/classic.jasper");
    JasperRunManager.runReportToPdfStream(reportStream, servletOutputStream, new HashMap() ,connection);
    getResponse().setContentType("application/pdf");
    servletOutputStream.flush();
    servletOutputStream.close();
    connection.close();
    When I invoke this action method from another page on click of submit , the pdf file opens fine for the first time( first submit) , and then if I click on submit again, it fails to open the pdf with the error message ,
    There was an error opening this document . This file cannot be found.
    Please help me resolve the issue, its urgent.
    Thanx in advance

    Thanks for the reply David. The problem we're having is that when you are in Workshop, there is the option, under the "File" menu to "Refresh" (F5) You sometimes need to do this to refresh your workspace. I'm sorry, I'm not a developer, so I don't know the details behind what that actually does, other than it "refreshes the workspace" so we can pick up the changes made and checked into subversion.
    Without performing this step, you don't always build from the latest and greatest code.
    The problem we're facing is that it seems that you need to be in Workshop to perform this step. There is a scripted way to do the refresh, but it requires you to open Workshop and run the script. What we're trying to accomplish is a truly scripted solution. All the other steps in the build process can be performed without opening Workshop, but because we can't figure out a way to do this one piece, we cannot have an automated build process.

  • Help in C14: E-Commerce Best Practices Configuration Guide!

    Hello,
    I am using CRM 5.0 System and following [C14: E-Commerce Configuration guide|http://help.sap.com/bp_crmv340/CRM_DE/BBLibrary/Documentation/C14_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_US.doc] and stuck up at the following points:
    1. As per the step 4.1.4.2 XCM Configuration for User Administration, when i try to login in http://<host>:<port>/isauseradm/admin/xcm/init.do using my user id i get No Authorization error message, even after assigning the SAP_J2EE_ADMIN role to my user id. Do i need any other role to login into this URL? Anyhow, I continued this step by using J2EE_ADMIN user account and created a new configuration scenario called TEST_APP and also created and assigned a new JCo component with my back end CRM details and did a test which was also success.
    2. In step 4.1.4.5 Creating the Super User for the Customer, when i try to access the url http://<host>:<port>/isauseradm/useradmin/init.do?scenario.xcm=TEST_APP the url automatically redirects to https://<host>:<port>/isauseradm/user/secureSwitch.do and i get a browser message saying that The page cannot be displayed. Without this step i cannot move further. I even restarted CRM Server and still the result is the same.
    Can anyone please explain why i am getting this "Page cannot be displayed" message instead of what's written in the configuration guide? And why couldn't i login using my user id even after assigning myself SAP_J2EE_ADMIN role?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vasu

    Hi Vasu,
    Please check the assigned authorization objects for the role SAP_J2EE_ADMIN using PFCG transaction. In the standard SAP doesn't add any authorizations to the role, so that you can't really use it to login to XCM applications.
    Do not forget to reward the useful answers

  • Need help about best practices - Add DI or add WP

    Hello Experts,
    I am facing on a strategic problem.
    We want to add new application Server (= Instance Dialog) to our CI/DB.
    But I am note sure that is the good way!
    Is it better to add New Work Process in existing Dialog Instance?
    Or, should we create another DI in the same physical host?
    I have to explain the both scenarii with features.
    Could you please help me to have the best practice in this situation.
    Thanks a lot for your help.

    Hocine NAÏ

    Hi Sunil,
    Thanks a lot for your reply. We have Sap ECC6 u2013 AIX 5.3. Today we have 3 AS (2 Linux sans one Aix). The goal is to eliminate the Aix AS. In each AS we have 5O WP. What is the highest number of WP allowed?
    And we have two opinion within my company :
    ==> The first is we have to add another AS in the same server than existing one. It was justified by the fact that we have enough available memory!
    ==> The second is to increase the both linux AS by adding 25 WP by AS. I am not sure but I read that the WP limitation number is 600! Is it right.
    Thanks a lot for your help

    SAP Best Practices for Chemicals supports supply chain planning as well as supply chain execution processes:
    Supply and demand planning u2013 Via the SAP Best Practices for Chemicals package, SAP enables complete support for commercial and supply-chain processes in the chemical industry, including support for integrated sales and operations planning, planning strategies for bulk material, and a variety of filling processes with corresponding packaging units. The package maps the entire supply chain u2013 from sales planning to material requirements planning to transportation procurement.
    Supplier Collaboration
    In the procurement arena, best practices are most important in the following
    Scenario:
    Procurement of materials and services:
    In this scenario, SAP Best Practices for Chemicals describes a range of purchasing processes, including the following:
    u2022 Selection of delivery schedules by vendor
    u2022 Interplant stock transfer orders
    u2022 Quality inspections for raw materials, including sampling requests triggered
    by goods receipt
    Manufacturing Scenarios
    SAP Best Practices for Chemicals supports the following sales and
    Manufacturingu2013related business processes:
    Continuous production u2013 In a continuous production scenario, SAP Best Practices for Chemicals typifies the practice used by basic or commodity chemical producers. For example, in the continuous production of plastic granules, production order processing is based on run-schedule headers. This best-practice package also describes batch and quality management in continuous production. Other processes it supports include handling of byproducts,co-products, and the blending process.
    Batch production u2013 For batch production,
    SAP Best Practices for Chemicals typifies the best practice used by specialty
    chemical producers. The following example demonstrates batch production
    of paint, which includes the following business processes:
    u2022 Process order creation, execution, and completion
    u2022 In-process and post process control
    u2022 Paperless manufacturing using XMLbased Process integration sheets
    u2022 Alerts and events
    u2022 Batch derivation from bulk to finished materials
    Enterprise Management and Support
    SAP Best Practices for Chemicals also supports a range of scenarios in this
    area:
    Plant maintenance u2013 SAP Best Practices for Chemicals allows for management
    of your technical systems. Once the assets are set up in the system, it focuses on preventive and emergency maintenance. Tools and information support the setup of a production plant with assets and buildings.Revenue and cost controlling u2013 The package supports the functions that help you meet product-costing requirements in the industry. It describes how cost centers can be defined, attached
    to activity types, and then linked to logistics. It also supports costing and settlement of production orders for batch and continuous production. And it includes information and tools that help you analyze sales and actual costs in a margin contribution report.
    The SAP Best Practices for Chemicals package supports numerous integrated
    business processes typical of the chemical industry, including the following:
    u2022 Quality management u2013 Supports integration of quality management concepts across the entire supplychain (procurement, production, and sales), including batch recall and complaint handling
    u2022 Batch management u2013 Helps generate batches based on deliveries from vendors or because of company production or filling, with information and tools for total management of batch production and associated processes including batch  derivation, batch information cockpit, and a batchwhere- used list
    u2022 Warehouse management u2013 Enables you to identify locations where materials
    or batch lots are stored, recording details such as bin location and other storage information on dangerous goods to help capture all information needed to show compliance with legal requirements

  • What is best practice for conditional rendering?

    i have a set of radio buttons that conditionally render another set, which in turn conditionally render a 3rd set.
    i am doing this by using a valueChangeListener on an h:selectOneRadio
    when i click yes on the 1st set it renders the 2nd set.
    when i click yes on the 2nd set it renders the 3rd set.
    when i click no on the 1st set now it correctly removes the 2nd & 3rd sets, the method also nulls the values.
    when i click yes on the 1st set, it renders the 2nd set with the old values even though they were nulled. and i can see in the debugger they are still null.
    so there seems to be an issue updating the model, but i dont know what that issue is. im sure it just has something to do with the way i am trying this conditional render. please see below for my first field and my valueChangeListener method.
    any help with what is a best practice for this scenario would be greatly appreciated.
    <h:panelGrid id="grid20a" columns="1">
                             <h:outputText value="Does this consult pertain to a specific "/>
                             <h:outputText value="planned or ongoing research project?: *"/>
                        </h:panelGrid>
                        <h:selectOneRadio id="specificResearch1" value="#{ethicsConsultBacking.bean.specificResearch}"
                             layout="lineDirection" required="true"
                             valueChangeListener="#{ethicsConsultBacking.processValueChangeSpecificResearch}">
                                  <f:selectItems value="#{ethicsConsultBacking.yesNoMap}" />
                                  <a4j:support event="onclick" reRender="form"/>
                        </h:selectOneRadio>
                        <h:message for="specificResearch1" styleClass="redText" />
    public void processValueChangeSpecificResearch(ValueChangeEvent e) throws AbortProcessingException
              String newValue = e.getNewValue().toString();
              //reinitialize
              this.setRenderHumanSubjectResearch(false);
              this.setRenderIrbSection(false);
              this.setRenderIrbProtocolNumber(false);
              this.getBean().setHumanSubjectResearch(null);
              this.getBean().setPrimaryIrb(null);
              this.getBean().setIrbStatus(null);
              this.getBean().setIrbProtocolNumber(null);
              //check condition
              if (newValue.equalsIgnoreCase(this.YES))
                   this.setRenderHumanSubjectResearch(true);
               * Clearing validation messages.
               * This will get around the issue with having a field
               * on the form that is both required & immediate.
              Iterator it = this.getFacesContext().getMessages();
              while (it.hasNext())
                   it.next();
                   it.remove();
              this.getFacesContext().renderResponse();
         }i also tried doing this another way by just using an action method attached to the a4j:support tag, but that introduced a different set of issue. so ill leave that out for now unless that is the direction someone would like to direct my issue in.
    Thanks in advance

    Similar issue is covered and explained here: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2007/10/populate-child-menus.html]. Not sure if it solves your problem as you're using ajax4jsf whereas I don't, but it might give new insights. To the point you might need to bind the component(s) and use setValue(null) or setSubmittedValue(null).
