How do I find the folder size.

Using the finder, I can find a file by size, but how can i find folders of a particular size? I need to clean my hard drive and I'm looking for all folders that are larger than 3GB. Is this possible?

OmniDiskSweeper is a very nice utility for finding where all the storage on your disk is collecting.

In the Finder, you can use
Finder -> File -> Find...
click on the "Kind" pop-up and select "other", then search for "size" and check the box.
Now you can search for "Size" "*Greater Than*".
If you wish to use the Terminal, there is the /usr/bin/find command
find /starting_directory -size +123M

• How do I find the total size of all my Music in iTunes 11?

I'm looking to get a new iPod, either a nano or Touch, so I'm trying to find the total size of all of my Music. Since iTunes 11's interface is so different from previous versions, I don't see a way to view that.

Ctrl B to show top menu
View Show Status Bar to show the grey bar at the bottom with the info you want.
While your there View> Show Sidebar and see if you prefer that.

• How can i find the file size before downloading

I am trying to decide if I want to download a tv show [Doctor Who] in standard definition or high definition. How can I see the file size before I purchase the show from iTunes?

1. That's only getting the file size of the Preview.
2. Click on a photo to select it. Then click on the info button. You can get the dimensions and the file size in the top of the pane
Note that the final size of any image will depend on the export settings you choose.

• How do I find the gb size of my project?

This is the first time I've had to create a DVD over 2 hours. I don't know what dvd gb size or thumbdrive size to purchase because I don't know the project size in gb's. Can anyone help?
Mike Diaz

Mike,
Once you export a file. You should be able to either right click and press get info, and it will show you file size.
Or even in finder it should say next to it once you click it how many GB's it is.
Most DVD's are 4.7 GBs. so anything under that will fit in it.

• How do I find the pixel size of a photo?

I have taken a photo or found one online.
It's now on my ipad.
How do I tell the pixel resoution of the photo via the ipad?
I have two of the same photos on my device at the moment and want to delete one. They may both be 2048/2048, but without emailing them or putting them in Dropbox, and viewing on my laptop, I don't see how to tell.

Get the Actual Pixels App from the App Store. It's free and will tell you the pixel size of any photo you open.

• How do I find the actual size of an app? Example: a wallpaper app claims the size of 4.4 MB, but the size on my iPhone is 4.9 GB!

Some of the apps on my iPhone are much larger size-wise than claimed on their app page. Example: Wallpapers HD claims 4.4 MB, but the actual size on my phone is 4.9 GB! Pinterest & Facebook also end up being huge real estate hogs. How do I really know the size of an app? The apps don't represent themselves accurately in the app store.
I figured out that 2 of my podcast apps allow me to remove content after listening. Others don't, though.
I'm hoping some of you younger people know the answer.
Thanks,
Nana Lybbr8

The size of an app depends on two different things:
1) the size of the App (as in the App Store)
2) the size of the App Data
The App Data can really inflate the size.
If you want to see how much space an app is actually taking up, got to the Settings app under General and then tap "usage."
Unfortunately some apps don't let you delete the content. Others do.
Hope this answers your question.

• How can I find the file size of an image within an iPhoto event or album?

In order to see the file size of any particular photo, I've been dragging a copy onto my desktop and using "get info." Is there a better way?
I'm using 10.7.4 and iPhoto 11 v 9.3.2

1. That's only getting the file size of the Preview.
2. Click on a photo to select it. Then click on the info button. You can get the dimensions and the file size in the top of the pane
Note that the final size of any image will depend on the export settings you choose.

• HOW CAN I FIND THE FOLDER USED BY IPHOTO

HI how do i change the path of my iphoto library (or create a new one) this is easy in itunes but scratching my head with iphoto
Regards
j1s

Launch iPhoto normally, control-click any photo, choose Show File, and then press the Command key while clicking on the title of the window which appears. This will give you the path to the library; don't delete it until you've verified that the new instance of the library works properly.

• How do I display the folder size in OS X Lion?

So I just upgraded to Lion yesterday and so far I really like. The only thing that is bugging me so far is when I open a folder or drive I want to display the size of that particular folder. How much information is contained and how much free space is available. Any one know how to display that?
Thanks,

I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to but,
In any finder window in the View menu click on the "show status bar" that shows at the bottom how many items are in that particular folder and how much GB is available.
Hope this helps

• How do I find the file size of an album in iPhoto

I'm a iMac newbie and I need your help! I need to determine how large an album is in iPhoto so I can figure out how big of a thumb drive I need to store these pictures for my digital frame. On my PC I would just right click on the file. That obviously doesn't work here. I saw a similar question in the forum that said to go to the Photos menu, but my only options there are: Adjust date and time, batch change, rotate clockwise, rotate counterclockwise, my ratings, edit photo, flag photo, hide photo, detect missing faces, duplicate and delete.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Select the album, Select all photos in the album, then click on the info button. Number of photos and total size are on top of info pane.

• How do I set the default size of a new folder?

I have finder sized the way I want for existing folders and if I do Finder > New Finder Window. These preferrences, however, do not seem to apply to new folders. Everytime I create a new folder on my desktop, and open that folder for the first time, the window size is really small and the sidebar is narrow. This is incredibally annoying. How do I set the default size for all new folders? Is there a plist file I can edit to fix this? Or an AppleScript I can run automatically in the background that fixes this? I am running Mavericks 10.9.1.

If you use the Finder's New Finder Window command (command N) to create a new window, resize it, place it where you want, and set it for icon view or however you want it. Then close it. Closing it is what sets these as the default. That should become the default for every new Finder window you create using the new window command. But if you have lots of windows open at once and then close them, the last window you close will set a new default.
There are lots of utilities that control Windows - their size and placement. I use one called Moom but there are many more.

It should keep asking for the password, because it's trying to check for purchases... As soon as you login, it will see you have pending downloads and create the downloads section on the left below Purchases under the Store section. Then it will start the music downloads there, as they will be listed one below the other.
You could just try to check your account balance or view your account and that will trigger a password request too. You can just click on that and say that now iTunes keeps asking for the password and ask him to help you with that. Trick would be to interrupt him so that he carries on with another task after, so he doesn't notice the download. Or you carry on with email or browsing which you were "busy" with when iTunes interrupted you for the password (stupid iTunes)
