How to use Oracle database in CR XI R2!!!

Hi All,
I am having Oracle database in onsite machine.
I need to design the report without DSN and installing Oracle in my machine.
I dont know how to use connection String and Find DSN file option.
Please anyone help me to solve the issue.

1. I tried to give connection string, but i couldnt succeed.
2.If is give OLE(ODBC) I dono how the connection is established. Will it refer to TNSNAMES.ORA file, because it is simpy asking data source, use ID and password.
it will be helpful if you clarify me on the doubts.

    Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. My database instance named HRCS90 is going to be backed up. My backup directory is /backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90.
    If database in open state, we must back up in archive log. If database in mount state but not open, we can back up in noarchive log.
    I have tried to back up HRCS90 in archive and noarchive log when database in mount state but not open as below:

    As we see the above last 2 commands, either archive or noarchive, I get the same error:

    Noarchive: ORA-19504: "failed to create file /backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90/full_0coqeia5_12_1" 
    My question is:
    What is the file "full_0boqei2c_11_1" or "full_0coqeia5_12_1" ?  How to solve the above error ?

    Well, Oracle probably has a command line tool. I think it's called sqlplus or somesuch. Check you Oracle docs.
    Of course, given that this is a Java forum, it's remotely possible that you're actually asking about accessing the database from a Java program.

    I am trying to use Oracle database to access HDFS through DCH. Now I installed Oracle database 11.2, hadoop-0.20.2 and DCH on the same linux machine.
    I also configured hdfs_stream properly and created Oracle directory HDFS_BIN_PATH according to README.txt file within DCH.
    Now I encountered a problem, how I create a external table which access data residing on HDFS?
    Can anyone help me ?

    I figure out the way which access HDFS data from Oracle External Table through DCH as below, but still face some problems
    Step 1
    Created Oracle directories as following:

    2）since all data is in oracle database，does timesten‘s transaction log and checkpoint file useful ? does timesten need backup ?

    Temporary databases have very limited usefullness; you can't use them with replication or caching for example. They are a very 'niche' use case; I'd recommend that you avoid them for mainstream use.
    TimesTen checkpoiint and transaction log files are always required (except for Temporary database which do not have checkpoint files but do have log files).

    - Using X/Open standards, for this
    you have to make an entry of Resource manager in $TUXDIR/udataobj/RM file.
    Then in UBBConfig file in GROUPS section u have to set Openinfo.
    It also depend on which database you are going to use.
    In your service now you need to call tpopen() API from tpsvrinit() function.
    - Other possibility is, take an implicit connection using Pro*C or Pro*Cobol whatever platform you are using.

    Does this mean you are not using the WIndows operating system, or you doi not want to do this 'manually' using some point and click method?
    If this means, "do it automatically for reboots" and you are using the Windows OS, you need to set up a service and set it to automatic at reboot. Or, again in a Windows environment but at commnand line, use "net start {service name}" - as described in the manual.

    I am having the oracle database which will be packed as package in a machine and will be delivered to client place , need to ensure that the client will not access the database by any means.
    Even he breaks the password (he should not break but despite client has broken the password) and went inside the database, he should not be able to see the databases Procedures ,views,functions and triggers.
    Can we Encrypt this,if so can client will be able to decrypt the same?
    Is there a way to secure the database from the client not to access the database.

    I need to create a C# app using oracle database. I don't know how to create a database files (i found that oracle use more than one file for database).
    I need to create new database, than tables and then connect it in C# application. I don't know how to create new database, and when i create it where i can find files od this database that i need to copy to folder of my C# application. I'm new in Oracle, i use version 11g express. I readed so much in google and here but i can't find info about files location and creating new database, just like it is in sql server 2008. I would be thankful for every help, instructions, links to tutorials. Thank you in advance!

    You don't just locate a file (or files) and drop them wherever you think you want them. You app does not interact directly with the database files at all.

    in my projects, customer (a bank) already has many applications (bankend & frontend) that are complicatedly connected. I intend to use oracle fusion middleware to integrate all applications and make adding new applications in the future easier. I have worked through documents in the oracle website but I still have no idea how to use oracle fusion middleware to address the requirement, besides oracle fusion middleware includes a bundle of applications I don't know which one I would need.
