You did not provid any information for more detailed instruction. Like:
- Any error messages
- DId ti work before?
- Have you activated Mesages?

Add a contact with his e-mail address, and send a message to that contact. I would say integrate, but not 100% that it works. A new contact would work.

Just click the button in the top right corner that looks like a pencil on a piece of paper make sure you are at the main I message screen were all the threads are listed.
If that's not the issue you can try:
1.hold the home and power button for 10-11 seconds
2. When the slide to power off comes up ignore that and keep holding home and power
3. The screen will go black and you will see an apple logo that's when you can let go of the home and power button
4. The. iPhone will come back on and you can try sending a message
If it still does not work
1. Go to settings> General> Reset> select "Reset All Settings" this will not erase any data on the device it will only reset the settings
2. After that try to send a message again
If that does not work you can try this
1. Plug your iPhone into iTunes and click your iPhone in iTunes
2. Then press backup iPhone
3. Then restore your iPhone this will erase everything and reinstall the operating system
4. Try to send a message and see if it sends
5. Then go back into iTunes and select restore from backup and select the backup you made earlier this will put all the data back on the device all apps will need to be re downloaded but app data will still be on the device. Pictures and messages. Will also be their.
If that did not solve your issue I would then go into the apple retail store

Yes I have turned imessage off a number of times and that does not seem to he doing the trick, and it is not delivering them then I have to press on the photo and either chose try again or send as text message, I have had the setting on to not allow sending pictures as texts (so they can only send as imessage) since I got my phone in January and it has always worked until now, I have turned that off to allow me to send them as picture messages now but it's still not working over iMessage, I have also tried it using 3G and not wifi

Thanks for the reply. Found out it was a problem at the end of one of the recipients in the group text as it was blocking messages from my number even though he hadn't blocked it. To get round it he deleted my number an put it in his phone again, had no problems since

When a Mac is "registered" for iMessages account with an Apple ID the Serial Number of the Mac is used to create an Auth Token as it is called for the Messages app that allows that Mac to work.
I would guess a similar process of linking the Number of the iPhone to a Hardware fact about the device is also in place.
I would contact Apple Support and check with them. (you might need to speak to a Level 2 person as Level 1 people are script led and try to fit everything into Software or Hardware categories where as sorting and Apple ID (which the Number is in this case) is normally Free).

I can send them to other people, he can send me an iMessage

I'm really sorry because I'm sure this is a repeat, but I couldn't find my exact problem in the forum already...
I downloaded Mountain Lion successfully and I love everything...but I cannot send any iMessages on the Messages app.
I used "Messages Beta" and sent iMessages just fine, so I'm not a total idiot or anything.
When I try to add my contact (whom I know has iMessage on their phone, and yes I have their phone number in their contact profile), all that comes up is their name and I can't click on it to add it or anything.
I'm sure this is a common problem...is this just a bug on Apple's behalf??

Um, I wouldn't hold my breath and expect Apple to release an iOS exactly one year after the previous one.
Did they release any previous iOS on an anniversary? Apple likes to delay, and I highly doubt that any anniversary is part of their release date logic. I do hope you're right though cause I'm looking forward to iOS 6 very, very much.
They're still running iPhone 4S commercials (and making new ones as well), and the iPhone 5 is expected to be released sometime this Fall as well, although I don't see that happening and personally suspect a Winter late '12/early '13 release date.

Have you tried sending iMessages on more than one Wi-Fi network?

TS2755 iPhone 5s simfree, trouble with imessage! I can receive but can't send as imessage!!!

People on my contact list can send me imessage, but i can't reply as imessage. I see bubble when they write, but when i write it is always green send button and i only can send them like text message. I try to restart iPhone, onsert again my simcard, activate again imessage but problem is the same.

According to the article below, if the issue is only present with a a specific conatact, you may need to delete that messaging thread and create a new message. If the issues persist, take a look at the article for additional troubleshooting steps.

I have a conversation going with a friend which started on iMessage, then transferred to jabber (google talk).
- He's now offline, so I want to send an imessage in the existing conversation.
- If I send anything it attempts to use jabber.
- I already have a second conversation going as the only way I could see around this last time was to create a new imessage conversation.
- The contact drop down only has jabber as an option for the user.
How can I do this?!

Can I send an iMessage conversation on my iPad to an email address? Can I copy and paste a conversation in iMessage?

If I am texting a conversation with someone using iMessage on my iPad, is it possible to send the entire conversation to an e-mail address?
If not, is to possible to copy this conversation and then paste it in an e-mail?
I am able to send an e-mail when I am in the iMessage window using my iPod Touch: at the top of the screen of each conversation, there are 3 options ("Email, FaceTime, and Contact>"), but I can't see how to do this on my iPad 2.

Is there a way to stop my phone sending a text if it can't send an iMessage?

I'm starting to get very reluctant to send picture messages/videos etc to friends abroad because - although my phone shows a blue iMessage button when I create my message - when I go back to check if it's been sent successfully - it has reverted to a regular text/MMS message ...which - to a friend the other side of the world - is no doubt costing me loads. The whole point, I thought, was that we could stop using WhatsApp. I'd much rather it tell me that it can't deliver the message than make me pay 40p (or whatever) to send it.
Any ideas?
