Is it true that if you give in your old ipod you can get a new one for 1/2 off?

I heard that if you trade in your old ipod touch, you get a discount on buying a new one. Is that true?

Yes, but not half off. If you bring your older iPod into your local Apple store, you'll get a 10% discount towards the purchase of a newer model.

    please respond quickly

What are you talking about? You can't "renew" an iPod. You also cannot trade it in to Apple. Apple will recycle it for you and give you a 10% discount on the purchase price of a new one.

I recently had to send my old iPhone back and get a new one. When I did, I simply did a restore and backup with my computer. When I did that, my iMessage between my iPhone and iPad are no longer synced. No matter how many times I went to settings, messages and adjusted it, my iPad and iPhone recognize when I send a message out but not when I received a message from another IMessage user to my iPhone. My iPad simply doesn't get those messages. HELP!!!!

If it's corrupt, generally it would be lost.
However, there is third-party software out there that can retrieve some of the data, those of which however I could not recommend as I have never done so myself.
Also, if the old 4S was running a more recent software version than the current 4S, that may cause the issue however usually iTunes tells you exactly that.
Good luck in retrieving that information.

  • Do any one know how much it is to get the new ipod touch with the camera if you trade in your old ipod touch?

do any one know how much it is to get the new ipod touch with the camera if you trade in your old ipod touch?

Sounds like you need a new battery.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm.  Apple will replace the battery for $79.  A third-party place like the folloing may be less expensive.  Google for more places.

  • Money off when you hand in your old ipod

    Hi
Does anyone know if you can't get money off a new ipod when you hand-in your old one?
The battery died on my old ipod, and I did think about taking up their battery replacement service, but wasn't quite sure what this involved. - Does it mean they replace the battery only, or do they send you a whole new ipod. And if they send a new ipod how can you be sure it's new, or a refurbished one?
    Thanks for your help.

You can get 10% off a new iPod when you turn in your old iPod when you purchase a new iPod directly from a retail Apple Store.
The battery replacement program they will send you a refurbished iPod, the same as the one you turned in.
Personally, I wouldn't do it thru Apple. You can purchase a battery and change it yourself or send it in to a 3rd party repair place. Less expensive than Apple.

  • Can you get money if you give apple your Broken Ipod touch 4g?

My speaker and camera wires are broken.
Can i just give the ipod to apple and would they just give me money?

    "even with 5 cell phones?"
    Yes.
"that should be 50%! thats dumb. "
What?  Apple does not want your old devices at all.  They do the 10% as a courtesy for ipod owners to safely discard their old ipod.  They do not use them or make any money on them
They will not take your cell phones at all. Why would Apple want your old cell phones?

  • I bought a 8Gb IPod Touch. Now I want to upgrade to a 32GB. I am going to sell my current IPod to a GameStop and am going to buy the brand new one at Wal-Mart. Is their a way that I can get my new one EXACTLY like the old one?

I mean exactly the same. Like down to the last detail!

Connect theold iPod to your computer for the last time and syn it. A sync includes a backup
Then connect the new iPod to the computer and restore from that backup. Make sure that all the apps are in the iTunes library as well as music and other things since synced items are not in the backup.

  • Could you trade in your older iPod for a newer version?

Or receive credit towards a newer one?

Well just to put my opinion on here as I have 2 iPod touches plus a classic iPod with 80 GB but 10% discount is all? Well, that stinks.
If the device still has a useful life left in it, sell it as second hand, which will probably raise more money for you than a 10% discount. That advice has already been offered here. Otherwise, Apple will give you a 10% discount on the price of a new iPod if you give them the old iPod which they will then recycle.
    Recycling usually involves breaking up the device and;
destroying the components inside in a way that does not harm the environment.
re-using the components or materials, which will reduce the use of new materials. This is friendlier to the environment than putting something into landfill.
The alternative to recycling is that the device is thrown into the general rubbish, which ends up in landfill. Landfill is a wasteful use of precious land (particularly in cities) and more importantly, the materials in those devices can then contaminate the landfill and surrounding areas, not to mention water courses and rivers.
Landfill costs money, to operate and that money comes (in most societies) from property taxes or local sales tax. It also costs money to recycle. Have you given any thought to how much it costs to have an iPod recycled? Since you haven't paid for it to be recycled, and Apple give you a small amount of money for a device so that they can recycle it, who do you think pays for the recycling?

  • Please tell me i'm wrong that i can't get a new display for my MacPro...

Am i reading all of this correctly? there is no way to use the only available displays with my 3 year old MacPro tower? what's going on with the constantly changing connection devices... i just need to know what adapter to buy so i can get a new display for my older box, but i'm having trouble deciphering the lingo... and reading about problems with lines through the images.. any one have any suggestions for an old guy? thanks in advance!

You need a dual-link DVI port for the 30-inch display and a Mini DisplayPort for the 24-inch LED display. The original Mac Pro includes the dual-link DVI port; use this component with the LED display.

Apple does not take trade-ins. In a few countries Apple does work with a company who will give you some return on an existing device; for the US, see:
    http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/
Similar programs are available in a few other countries, and some dealers may have their own trade-in programs. But you most probably can get more for your device if you sell it yourself, as Eric suggested.

If whatever is wrong with your phone falls under the hardware warranty, Apple will replace your phone, with a refurbished unit, at no cost to you. Make an appointment at an Apple store.

  • I want to buy an Apple TV device but I need to be sure of its benefits. I have contracted a Satellite TV. Is it true that if I connect Apple TV to system, I can watch TV through IPad wherever by using wireless and App Remote

I want to buy an Apple TV device but I need to be sure of its benefits. I have contracted a Satellite TV. Is it true that if I connect Apple TV to system, I can watch TV in my IPad wherever by using wireless and App Remote??

If you have an iPad 2 you can wirelessly mirror it to your TV via the ATV device. If you have an iPad 1 then you can use airplay but not all apps are enabled to push video, as the developer needs to do this.
You can also view all local content from iTunes or your iPad, pushed via airplay/home-sharing.
The other services available are iTunes movie rentals, TV shows (past purchases viewable from the cloud), Photo Stream, Netflix, Vimeo, Podcasts, Youtube, Sports etc.

Is it true that I have to wait 12 months before I can unlock my iphone 5 from it's original carrier ?

As stated earlier, the carriers have full control over unlocking. They are the only ones that can authorize it and it is by their rules. Apple does nothing but facilitate. Any issues you have with unlocking will have to be taken up with the carrier.
