Need Advice - How to get support from Management?

Hi all,
I'm a developer with 5 years experience. I've been working with Oracle from the start. Last year I decided to work towards a specialization and distinguish myself from the other 300 developers at my office. So I got my Oracle8i DBA cert! I got my certificate in the mail last month. :-)
Since word spread around the office about my achievement I have been flooded with phone calls and emails from co-workers asking for my help with their oracle issues/problems. I've since come to the conclusion that I no longer want to be "just another developer" at the office... I want to be the in-house oracle consultant. But I have to convince the decision-makers at my company to let me serve them in this capacity... in other words - create a new position just for me.
I need to convince them of the value/benefit of having a person on staff who eats, breathes and sleeps Oracle. There are over 300 developers at my office as I've already stated and I am the only OCP. The project executive from Head Office who can approve this new position is visiting our center near the end of June.... so I have about a month to prepare my "pitch".
Any advice?

A couple of nuggets:
1. If you want something, ask.
2. Be prepared for questions from a different paradigm. Managers don't care much about technology or certificates. They'll be asking about what value you'll bring to the organization in any given position.
3. Give examples.
4. Be persistent. If you get an answer like "I'll think about it" or "let me talk it over with ...", then follow up, in person if possible.
5. Don't make your case via e-mail. Most management hates e-mail and the problems it causes.
6. Avoid techno-babble.
7. Interview some managers who know the decision maker. Tell them what you're thinking about and ask them to help.

Please some 1 let me know how to get acknowlegdement from EFT ( debit card Swap) machine once it is connected to the computer.
I have a code which seems to have no errors ut it I am not sure whether the EFT machine will be able to send or recieve the data once the car is swaped. because i dont know what is the response of the EFT machine when connected to the computer though a java swing class.
I know it will be quite tidious job for you to go through my program but this is all i can do...or atleast give me a link where i can refer to such case.......I am using eclipe Ide....and have searched alot on google too......Vish_1x1 wrote:

Do you mean a card reader? An EMV terminal? A PDQ? What? Where did it come from? Start there. If you need to get this thing working, you must be part of an enterprise, which has access to resources such as hardware vendor support, merchant banking services and EFT software vendors. If you're not, then you might as well abandon all hope of using this machine to take cards on your own, because you can't. End of story

If it's really a simple question, then most people probably think the poster can get the answer from the documentation, or by searching the forum for previous answers.
However, most of the time, it's not that the question actually is simple. It's usually a question that is being asked simplistically, making it nearly impossible to answer (or often even understand). I am using DIAPI(JCO) for SAP B1. According to one or my reuirement i am in need of Position from the EmployeesInfo. But there seems no option or method for getting position from that. Can anyone guide me how to get that from EmployeesInfo ? Any help is appreciated..
Looking at the DI API properties vs. DB fields mapping documentation in the SAP Business One developer area (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c5f5dbcc-0a01-0010-5d82-f25f2bee715e)
it seems that this field is not exposed (yet).
I.e. you could only run a SQL statement to get this information.

thanksI can't comment on possible issues you might have with the driver, but if it can be done in JDBC, it should be possible in TopLink.
TopLink has the StoredFunctionCall which extends the StoredProcedureCall but adds an unnamed ouput parameter in the first spot of its parameter list. You will need to get the databasefield and set its type to BOOLEAN ie:
DatabaseField returnField = (DatabaseField)yourStoredFunctionCall.getParameters().firstElement();
returnField.setName(name);
returnField.setSqlType(Type.BOOLEAN);Be sure not to use the setType() method, as I believe TopLink will try to use the Type.BIT when a boolean class is used as the classtype.
