Page break, or start to next page?

Hi,
I have a paragraph style that must be mirrored in a running header. So, I must create a single style for both paragraphs staying in the same page, and paragraphs starting in a new page. Therefore, I must add the break manually when needed (unless InDesign accepts a running header format of the boolean type AND).
I'm in doubt on how to do with sending paragraphs to a new page. I see two viable options: inserting a page break at the beginning of the paragraph, or going to the Keep Options palette and choosing Start On Next Page. The first one has a handy shortcut, the second one, as far as I can see, has no shortcut.
Apart for how comfortable it is adding the one or the other break, and the added line when using the break charachter, is there any other consideration I should keep in mind? Why the one solution is preferable to the other? Are there compatibility issues when exporting/importing text files, web pages of ebooks?

I think that the commercial plug-in Power Headers from in-tools.com has the kind of logic you describe.

    Hi H4S,
Click at the end of the Tile page.

  • Multiple-page table starts on next page

When I include a Table which is more than one page long in my Pages document (version 5.5.1) it always starts on the next page. It does not matter how much space there is on the page. Even if there is only a single line on that page.
I included the table as "Inline with text". Can I force it to start on the same page or is is a general bug of the newes version of pages? It used to work last year with an earlier version of Pages.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
this drove me crazy. What works for me is this: instead of adding normal "returns" after the last paragraph or table, add a line break by pressing Shift and Return at the same time (i.e., as if you want to continue within a paragraph, but start a new line anyway). If you turn on menu point "View => Show Invisibles", then the result of a normal Return is the weird mirrored P character. After pressing Shift-Return, you will see an arrow pointing down and to the left.
    Hope this helps

  • How do I prevent Pages from pushing paragraphs to next page when they would otherwise begin on the last line of the previous page?

I am writing papers for school which have strict page limits so I can't afford to be losing lines at the bottom of a page because Pages thinks it looks better to have a new paragraph start on the next page. It does this automatically and I have to go back and manually format to get the first line of the paragraph to start on the last line of the previous page. This then creates problems down the line when I am editing so I would really like to be able to turn the feature off.
    e.g. with Pages auto-formatting
    -----page 1-----
         Paragraph #1 blah blah
    blah blah blah
         Paragraph #2 blah blah
    blah blah blah
    -----page 2-----
         Paragraph #3 blah blah
    blah blah
    e.g. after manual formatting
    -----page 1-----
         Paragraph #1 blah blah
    blah blah blah
         Paragraph #2 blah blah
    blah blah blah
         Paragraph #3 blah blah
    -----page 2-----
    blah blah

  • Orphan table header at bottom of page when page breaks a table across multiple pages

    Hi all,
I think similar questions have been asked before but I have not found an answer.
    Here's the scenario:
I have several dynamic tables in a dynamic form.  The layout is flowed, and everything can grow and shrink as needed.  That all works.
However, my tables have headers.  Occasionally when one of these tables is large and needs to break across multiple pages, there will be just enough room at the bottom of the previous page to show the next table header, but not enough space to show any of the related table rows.  So it ends up looking silly, with just an orphaned header at the bottom of one page, and then the table continues on the next.
I have my tables set up so that headers get repeated on subsequent pages, by setting the header row to "repeat row for each data item" on the binding tab.  I would like to keep that functionality, but I just want to find a way to avoid these "orphaned" table headers that sometimes appear.
I have tried the "keep with next" option.  However, although this does push the rendering of the header to the next page, it seems that according to livecycle the table still officially began on the previous page.  Therefore I get a duplicate header because of the "repeat row for each data item" option.
I have also tried having two header rows, one that is set to only be displayed on the initial page, and the other that is set to appear only on subsequent pages (pagination tab).  This did not work - I ended up with duplicate table headers.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

You shouldn't have "repeat row for each data item" selected for header rows.
You should have "include header row in initial page" and "include header row in subsequent pages" selected on the Pagination tab.
Then using a "keep with next" might work ok.

  • Need to change footer PAGE NUMBERS to start counting from page three

Hi I am doing some academic writing with AppleWorks and the cover page and second page should not be numbered. I need to start the page count from page three because the first two pages cannot be included in the count. ( Page three must be labeled page one, page four must be labeled page two, etc.) How can I do this?
    Thank you!!

    Hello,
What I have done is this:
    1. Click just to the left of the first character on page 3.
    2. Go to Format>Insert section break
    3. Go to Format>Section
    4. Select new page from drop down menu
    5. Select Restart page numbering, and insert required number
    6. Select Different this section
    7. Go to Format>Insert Footer
    8. In the footer created, type in whatever plus Insert page # from Edit menu
    I hope this helps.

  • How to get the page number when click the(Next page) Icon on Tableview

    Hi all,
I had implemented a tableview in one of the Views that I had implemented for a BSP application. I am using MVC framework.
Let us assume when we execute the BSP and a table view got 11 pages.
How I can keep track of the page number when we click the  (Next page, Previous page, Bottom , Top) Icons on my tableview . Is there any attribute willstore that  corresponding page number of the tableview when we click the corresponding Icon's??
I had checked both CL_HTMLB_TABLEVIEW and CL_HTMLB_EVENT_TABLEVIEW Classes and i don't find any attribute.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Greetson

    Hi Greetson,
I was thinking to write a weblog about that.
But now I would like to have your opinion:
I coded a generic method in my main controller (but you could also insert it in the application class) that save the firstvisible row in the class  me->firstvisiblerowlist (that is a table)
      DATA: l_firstvisiblerowlist TYPE zmmsp_tableview_1st_visi_row.
      DATA: ff  TYPE ihttpnvp,
            ffs TYPE tihttpnvp.
      me->request->get_form_fields( CHANGING fields = ffs ).
      LOOP AT ffs INTO ff.
        IF ff-name CP 'f*visiblefirstrow'.
READ TABLE me->firstvisiblerowlist INTO l_firstvisiblerowlist WITH KEY name = ff-name.
          CASE sy-subrc.
            WHEN 0.
              l_firstvisiblerowlist-name  = ff-name.
              l_firstvisiblerowlist-value = ff-value.
              MODIFY me->firstvisiblerowlist FROM l_firstvisiblerowlist INDEX sy-tabix.
            WHEN 4.
              IF sy-tabix = 0.
                l_firstvisiblerowlist-name  = ff-name.
                l_firstvisiblerowlist-value = ff-value.
                APPEND l_firstvisiblerowlist TO me->firstvisiblerowlist.
              ELSE.
                l_firstvisiblerowlist-name  = ff-name.
                l_firstvisiblerowlist-value = ff-value.
                INSERT l_firstvisiblerowlist INTO me->firstvisiblerowlist INDEX sy-tabix.
              ENDIF.
            WHEN 8.
              l_firstvisiblerowlist-name  = ff-name.
              l_firstvisiblerowlist-value = ff-value.
              APPEND l_firstvisiblerowlist TO me->firstvisiblerowlist.
          ENDCASE.
        ENDIF.
      ENDLOOP.
Than you have to provide a generic method to read the firstvisiblerow for each tableview
    GET_FIRSTVISIBLEROW
    *IM_TABLENAME
    *RE_VALUE
      DATA: l_firstvisiblerow  TYPE zmmsp_tableview_1st_visi_row.
READ TABLE me->firstvisiblerowlist INTO l_firstvisiblerow WITH KEY name = im_tablename.
      IF sy-subrc = 0.
        re_value =  l_firstvisiblerow-value.
      ELSE.
        re_value =  1.
      ENDIF.
And in the DO_REQUSET of each controller you could write something like:
    * Paginator
      DATA: l_tab1_visiblefirstrow TYPE sytabix.
      l_tab1_visiblefirstrow = o_bsp_main->get_firstvisiblerow( 'f019id_tab1_visiblefirstrow'    ).
As usual pass the value to the view via:
      o_page->set_attribute( name = 'tab1visiblefirstrow' value = l_tab1_visiblefirstrow ).
    Did you get it?

  • When i start ff my home page and (getting started with ff page comes up i just want my home page to start?

  • Table Overflow - Page Break - Multiple tables in Body page in Adobe forms

    Hi,
I have to do a payslip in Adobe forms. I am using only Adobe for print forms.
Please redirect me to correct category if this is wrong category.
I am customizing standard form PYXXFO_SAP_PAYSLIP_IN01. (payslip for india through hrforms)
The standard form is entirely positional. So, if the contents of the table overflow, they are overwritten on the contents below.
So, I have to make corrections to adjust the payslip for table overflows.
    My changes:
    1. There are total 8 tables in form. I created content areas for each of them and assigned the subforms/tables to those content areas.
    2. I converted the body page from positional to flowed, and applied the related pagebreak settings.
    The problem I am facing:
When the earnings table overflows, the rest of the content is displayed on second page, in a continuous manner.
    eg.
The structure of the form is:
    Header details
earnings table   deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
now, if the earnings table overflows -
    page 1:
    Header details
    earnings table (page break)
    Page2:
    (continued)earnings table
    page3:
(continued)earnings table   deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
In this, the deduction table and form16 table is shown on 3rd page. I wish to show them on the first page as they have not overflown.
I am sure, I am missing something very small, but I am unable to understand what.
I tried all the possible combinations.
Does the main subform needs to be "positional"?
They way I expect it is:
    page 1:
    Header details
earnings table (page break)    deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
    Page2:
    {Header details - It would be great if I could have this}
    (continued)earnings table
    page3:
    {Header details}
    (continued)earnings table
Also, If this is successful, I would like to apply the same feature to rest 6-7 tables.

    This was a duplicate question.
Kindly remove this thread if possible.
The solution for this thread is as follows:
I was sort of hoping that there should be some standard functionality available for this, it being Adobe, but there is not.
So, I had to run a work around. Quite a lengthy one.
    What the problem was:
I needed to print around 4-5 tables adjacent to each other in single page and in verticals. What Adobe does is: it fills 1st table, then 2nd then 3rd and so on. So, if there is a page break due to large entries in the adobe, the contents breaks with rest of the tables being blank, but the content being filled sequentially.
    What I did was:
I created a grand table with the structure having all the tables embedded in it. eg.
data: begin of grand_table occrs 0,
    table_A type table_a_table_type,
    table_B type table_b_table_type,
    table_c type table_c_table_type,
    end of grand_table.
Hence, I could include all the data in a one single grand table, and put the data in sequential manner.

  • Show bottom border in First page and top border in next page for rectangle in SSRS

    Hi,
I have rectangle  inside that Text box and tablix are there, where the text data spans to multi pages (2 or 3 Pages) , so the Bottom border in first Page will go off and in other pages both bottom and top border will be not visible, and where the text
data ends in that page we can able to see the closed rectangle bottom border. .“OmitBorderOnPageBreak”
property is set to false only.
Kindly send me if any expressions is there and how to set it, Kindly do the need.

    Hi Anand,
According to your description, you have a rectangle in your report, and there are tablix inside this rectangle. Now the issue is that there is no border on the bottom of first page and there is no border on the top of new pages when the tablix break to multiple
pages, right? If I have anything misunderstand, please point it out.
I have tested it on my local environment, and got the same results as yours. It seems this is default setting of Reporting Services. If there is border on the bottom of first page and there is border on the top of new pages, then this rectangle became
    multiple rectangles.
The workaround for this issue is that add page header and page footer for your report, and add a line to them respectively. Then run this report, it looks like there is border on the bottom of first page and there is border on the top of new pages.
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • How do I get a table on pages to continue onto the next page if the text is too long?

I like to make a table to organize information. I just make it like a box. I like to do this for my lesson plans since I am a teacher, but I can't get all my information on the one cell and it just disappears. I attached the picture to help show you what I mean. Cell 4 has more information but it doesn't continure.

Cells will not split in Pages.
You should be able to organise your layout without using tables, not that tables are bad pre se, just that they are not an option here.
If this is important to you, try LibreOffice [free].

  • Page break handeling when using table type field

    Hello everyone
I've created an adobe form using tcode SFP.
A table, "T1", is containing fields where one of it is a TABLE TYPE (Let give the following name "T1-FT1").
So the structure can look like:
    T1-F1
    T1-F2
    T1-FT1-FTF1
    T1-FT1-FTF2
basically the structure is like to have documents containing several items where those items have several serial number.
I need to have page break per documents, per items and serial number where those one have specific header page different than the document itself.
I need to have a page break per T1 records with specifc header.
So for each new records of T1, I have to create a new page with it's specific header.
The table T1-FT1 is starting on the current page, but if I have to many records to stay on the page I need to create another page with it's specific header that is different than the page 1.
My problem is the page break handling.
I can have the pagination tab at the Table1 and row1 level but I don't have the pagination tab at the T1-FT1 level.
    Here is what my hierarchy:
    _MasterPage
    __Page1
    __Page2
    _MainSubForm
    __Subform1
    ___Table1
    ____Row1
    _____Subform
    ______Table2
    ________Row2
    Example of Data:
    T1-F1 ___ T1-F2 __ T1-FT1-FTF1 __ T1-FT1_FTF2
    A _______ B _____  1 ___________  1
    A _______ B _____  1 ___________  2
    B _______ C _____  1 ___________  1
    B _______ D _____  1 ___________  2
    B _______ D _____  1 ___________  3
The final page break layout should look like:
    Page1
    Header1
    A B
    ___ 1 1
    ___ 1 2
    Page2
    Header1
    B C
    ___ 1 1
    ___ 1 2
    Page 3
    Header2
    B C
    ___ 1 3
Because there is not enough room on page 2 for the last record of the table T1-FT1, a new header is used on page 3.
Actually several problems occurs. I cannot have the proper page break set to avoid empty pages as first or last page.
The pagination tab stop to be available after the Row1. So we cannot set page break at the table2 and row2.
The page break contidion doesn't work. "Well I didn't succeed to make it work".
Any idea on how to handle those page break at table2 level?
Is anyone had to create a PDF form where we have the date into several level of structure?

I have the exact same issue. Could not find a solution. In my case, there are multiple subforms printed one below the other. If an expandable subform overflows into a new page, the last line overlaps with the text of next subform. I have added blank spaces between the subforms but, that does not solve the issue.
Finally, I have managed to minimize the occurrence of the issue by doing the following. Only turn on the flag "Allow Page breaks within content" for subforms that can really spread over many pages. All other subforms, turn the flag off. This minimizes the possibility of overlapping.

  • Page break as part of a paragraph style?

    Hello,
is there a way to add page break as part of a paragraph style? I'd like for my "Heading 1" to always start on a blank page.
    Thanks!

Use the keep option in the style for the heading itself. Set to start on next page, next odd page, or next even page. The following paragraph style should be set to start anywhere.
