PLL in Forms 4.5

Hi
I need to add a new program unit( procedure in the PLL) which will be used by only some of the forms. Do I need to compile only the forms which will be calling the new program unit or do I need to compile all the forms once again.
One more point to add is that the application has the pll's stored as fmb's also in the DB.So do I need to change the fmb's also to include the same or will changing the pll by itself be sufficient.
Kindly reply asap

Ronald/To ALL
The application which I'm working has the following design: For all the plls they have included in their forms they have stored it as files as well as in the database. The strange part is that they have stored it not only as PLL's in the DB but also as FMB's in the DB.
I tried modifying one of the PLL's to include a new program unit but it gave a ORA-06501 PL/SQL program error.
Instead I tried creating a new PLL and added the same in the form as well in the DB. But still it gives the same error.
Could you pls tell me how to go about it.
I just need to add 2 new program units in a new pll. Kindly tell me as to how it can be done in this scenario.
Do reply ASAP

  • Way of customizing oracle forums without custom.pll and form personalizatio

    HI,
I know that form customization is done thru custom.pll and form personalization.what about customization of events which are not found in custom.pll.how can we take care of those events.

You will have to modify the specific trigger inside the original fmb, and with every patch, redo your changes again. But i don't think thats supported by oracle (maybe you get a more detailed answer in the eBusiness-forums OA Framework )

PS: I can recompile forms with attached libraries if the PLX-Files (6i) are available, but the forms will not work with these PLX-Files.

I tried to generate a new library. This works fine until I saved it. After naming the library and pressing the save button in the dialog the pll file was created and the same error message appears.
I closed form builder and tried to reopen the library: same error.
I generated another new library and save this by selecting the first new I generated. Jippee! I get the message that the file already exists! I selected "overwrite" and the file was overwritten. After that the same error appears.
How can I (re)open PLL files? It is no solution to generate a new library overwriting the old one everytime some changes should made.
Trying to build the library (Ctrl+T) produces another error:
FRM-91507: Internal Error: Unable to generate library.
    Compiling (Ctrl-Shift-K) works fine.

    Hi Mark,
there's no user except of me on the pc and server (I'm working via rdp-client on a virtual server), no server and no oc4j task or instance started. The one and only program that runs is forms builder. The error occurs if I just try to open a pll file via the file open dialog of forms builder.
With my admins we found that forms builder creates a (temporary) file (e.g. s22o without extension with 827392 bytes) in c:\ but only if I'm the actual user. After I'm getting the permission to create and update files on c:\ forms builder was able to open pll files. Now we're trying to find out why this accurs only on my login. With other users we tried these file was created on F:\ which is the personal drive of the user. I'm only wondering about the fact that temporary files were not created in the TEMP folder defined by the TMP or TEMP environment variable.
So we solved this unusual problem in an unusual way.

  • What replaces hint.pll in Forms 6i?

I just upgraded from Forms 4.5 to Forms 6i. The Developer/2000 tool did most of the work, but several of my forms use hint.pll to perform mouse detection/functionality. This is not working in 6i, and I noticed that the demos for 6i don't include this pl/sql library any more. What replaces it in 6i?

    Hi,
Actually there is a property by name ToolTip.

    U need not use hint.pll.

Have you double-checked the one Form to ensure the Library is still attached? Also, when the Library was attached - was it attached in such a way that it recorded the path to the library (typically, when you attach a library - Forms will ask if you want to record the path (Y/N))?
    Hope this helps.

I forgot to add, sometimes, just simply deleting the attached library and re-attaching it will fix the issue.

Are you on Windows? There is a size limit on that platform:
Windows limits the size of a procedure.
o The text of a procedure cannot exceed 32K.
o The compiled code plus some control information cannot go over the 64K
    boundary
Is it possible that your library is too big?

  • After saving a pll file in 11g Form Builder, should I be to open it  in....

    .......10g Form Builder?
    Friends,
I am currently looking at upgrading our 10.1.2 forms application to 11.1.1 and am slightly puzzled by something.
If I open an existing 10g .PLL file in Form builder 11g and save it should I still be able to open it in Forms Builder 10g?
The reason for asking is that when we moved from 6i Forms to Forms 10g, once the PLL was saved in the newer version of Form builder it was no longer possible to open it in the earlier, 6i, version of Form Builder. If you attempted to do so you would see an error "Encoded format has an unrecognized format"
However it appears that after opening a PLL in Forms 11g builder and saving the file I can still open the same file in Forms 10g. Is this the expected behaviour?
The reason for asking this is that I want to check that the upgrade to 11g is actually doing something!
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Timothy,
The account cannot be validated error was due to a glitch on our activation server that has been fixed now.
Please try using acrobat now and check if you are still facing the problem.

  • When-new-form-Instance trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-04062

    Hi,
We are facing ORA-04062 (FRM-40735 WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger raised unhandled exception ORA 04062) while trying to run the first form of our Application.
We are using a PL/SQL LIBRARY(.pll) for forms.
We are using 10G Application Server,10G DB and Oracle 9i Forms.
    DB Version----10.1.0.4.0
    Application Server--9.0.4.0
During compilation, we are following the below steps:
    1. Compile the .pll
    2.Compile Forms.
When we are running these compiled version of forms and pll in Development server where we are compiling it,we are not facing any error.
But when we are taking these compiled version of forms and pll to the Production Server,we are getting the above error.
When we are compiling the .pll in Production server, Application runs fine.
But we should not compile form or pll in Production server.
Searching in Metalink(Note:73506.1) , we find a solution that remote_dependency_mode if set to signature this problem may be resolved.
We tried that by chaning ' REMOTE_DEPENDENCIES_MODE=SIGNATURE' in Init.ora file in both Production and Development server.
    But the error still persist.
I think the problem is regarding .pll.Because for the time being to test the application,I compiled the pll in Production and we didnot get any error while running the Application.
But whenever we are tring to deploy the compiled version of pll (compiling in Development sever) and to run the application in Production, we are facing the error.
Also, pll calls one standard database package in SYS.That standard package has VALID status both in Production and in Development.
We donot have priviledge to change/compile that package. So,we didnot change anything in that package. We didnot change anything in .pll also.
We are upgrading our forms from 6i to 9i.And now when we are trying to deploy it to Production we are facing ORA-04062 error.
    Can anyone please help ?

Exactly what procedure or package in SYS are you calling that causes this problem?
<p>Are both test and production databases at the same version?
<p>Do you know what procedure or package is named in the error? If not, then you need to improve your on-error trigger processing. I use a PLL_On_Error trigger to capture and improve a number of Oracle messages. It is posted here:
<p> Re: FRM-40735:Pre_Insert trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-20011
<p>Note especially the part near the end that deals with FRM-40735. (Not sure, but you may also want to display DBMS_ERROR_TEXT in your situation.)
<p>If that doesn't help find the actual problem, I would pull out my Re: Zdebug -- Download a Forms debugging message tool, and add messages before every call in the when-new-form-instance process to zero-in on the offending call.
<p>If it really IS a call to a system process, I would then experiment with creating a server-side package or stored procedure that calls the process, and then call that stored procedure from my form. That way, you effectively insulate your form from system differences.

  • How to call a custom form on click of a button?

    Hi,
I think you are working with Oracle EBS.
I don't think so that we can able to call the custom form on clicking button.
We can call the form from the standard form using both custom.pll and form personalization
In custom.pll using zoom function we can do this and in form personalization we can call the form by using form function, In both we call the form by creating a special menu in standard from and we used to call.
So please check further, and let me know if any i can help you any.
