Restricted KF vs Filters

What is the difference between RKF and filters. I know how to use them . In terms of query performance or any other situations when I should RKF or Filters.

A Filter restricts the entire query where as a RKF is applied on one KF.
Filter enhances the performance hugely bcoz the data to be fetched is confined to that particular filter area or selections in the filter. But a RKF restricts only one KF depending on the characterstic values.
Go through the below illustration:
In your sales analysis report you have customer, material, sales, qty, value for an year. You want to show current month sales one more column. You will create a restricted key figure based on the current month and show it in the report. You will end up with a report
customer, material, sales, qty, value, Current Month Qty, Current Month value.
The above report you want to show only the current month sales. You will create a filter where the 0CALMONTH = current Month with customer, material, sales, qtym, value for the current month only.
Use of filter is better where ever we can, but using a RKF depends upon our reporting needs.

Field restriction for ME22N using BADI

Dear All,
i had a requirement in which i had to restrict ME22N transaction for a particular user for a particular document type
so i used BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST now the requirement has changed and the user wants the restriction only on three fields rather than entire transaction.
is there any provision in BADi by which i can prevent changes made to a particular fields the fields are QUANTITY,RATE PER UNIT & PAYMENT TERMS fields,by throwing error message if changes are done and for other fields changes should be allowed .

Integrated Planning - No ability for restrictions on Aggreg. Level ?

Hi there,
I have noticed in the new Integrated planning that it is only possible to restrict data at the filter level.
In comparison to the old BPS, where you could restrict data at both the Planning Level and Planning package is this not a slight reduction in functionality ?
This will mean that it will be necessary to repeatedly assign variables / static restrictions to many filters which have similar selection criteria rather than maintaining them once at the Aggregation Level
Does anyone know if it is envisaged that selection will be possible on aggregation levels in upcoming support packages?

Restrict Characteristic on value range in Query Designer

Hi,
In 3.5, it was possible to restrict a filter in the query designer on a value range, even if the start- and end values of that range did not exist in the master data.
In 2004s, it is possible to restrict single value filters to a non-existing masterdata value. However, for value ranges, this does not seem to be the case. Do you know any workaround for this?

of course, BI 7.0 support value range for restrict.Please kindly release more information about your case .

Instead of selecting single values you can quickly gather multiple characteristic values using this next option. This choice provides the following additional options:
1. Between
2. Greater than or equal to
3. Less than or equal to
4. Greater than
5. Less than

In addition to the above, I would like to add the following.
Filters..as the name suggests we are going to filter the data for the query..
This can be done in two ways..
1> Give the restriction in the filters by including the character to be filtered under the filter tab and restricing it over there.
2> Another way is to restrict on rows and columns, this acn be done by right-click and restrict.
The difference between these two ways of filetering is
Option 1 will allow the query to fetch the data only for the given restriction
Option 2 will allow the query to fetch the data irrespective of the restriction, but while displaying it will display according to the restriction.
By using option we can improve the query performance.. as it reduce the time to fetch the data..

Unable to see data in the report or workbook

Hello All,
We are struggling to display data in the report level or workbook, however the data is available in Multiprovider.
Error Message: "No Applicable Data Found"
Steps Carried Out:
1. Dropped the BIA Indexes for relevant cubes and Reactivated the Multiprovider, still did not work.
2. When we checked for previous years like 2013, we are able to see data in the report. To elaborate an issue, we loaded budget data for year 2015 as requested by user. Restricted the same filters from the Query in the Multiprovider and able to see the data in the backend, however not data can be seen in the Report.
3. Three Hierarchies are restricted in the Filters of the Query.
It would be great, if any of you can help us to fix the issue.

Have you used any exists?
in exists is there any system date kind?
Can you try to run your report thru RSRT and use debug option there.
before reporting please check your all connected targets have data for reporting.
mean at targets-->request tab, reporting symbol was there or not.
Any master data objects included in multi provider?
if yes then please check those, if any ACR was running then it may cause you.
if possible try to develop simple query with as per needs(mean to see 2015 data only).
As my guess selections/filters migth be hidden, please check those.

Imessage using my gmail instead of my actual number

So, I go to school in the states but im from canada. I recently bought a phone in canada, got it unlocked and now use it in the states. I just came back to canada for break. My phone was working fine for 2 days, my imessages were still going through to friends (showing up as my states number) I connected my phone to my computer and restored my phone. once i did this, i lost a lot and now my imessages are being sent via my email not my actual number. i dont know why its not using my number to imessage people anymore please help!

What are the best design requisites for a Query design?

Could you please let me know,which item will execute first when you run a query,I mean Calculated keyfigure,restricted keyfigure or formula e,t,c...How does it effects the Query performance?What are the design requisites to optimise better query performance?

The design of queries can have a significant impact on the performance.
Sometimes long running queries are the result of poor design, not just the amount
of data. There are a number of design techniques that developers can use to
provide optimal query performance.
For example, in most cases characteristics should be placed in the rows and key
figures in the columns. A characteristic should only be used in the columns in
certain circumstances (like time). Characteristics having potentially many values
(such as 0MATERIAL) must not be added to the columns without a filter or
variables. Alternatively, it can be integrated into the query as a free characteristic
enabling it to be used in navigation.
If a relatively detailed time characteristic, such as calendar day (0CALDAY) is
added to the rows, the more aggregated time characteristics (such as calendar
month (0CALMONTH)) and calendar year (0CALYEAR) should also be included
in the free characteristics of the query. For most reports, a current period of time
(current month, previous or current calendar year) is useful. For this reason, the
use of variables is particularly relevant for time characteristics.
To improve query performance
1) Variables and drop down lists can improve query performance by making the
data request more specific. This is very important for queries against Data Store
Objects and InfoSets, which are not aggregated like InfoCubes.
2) When using restricted key figures, filters or selections, try to avoid the Exclusion
option if possible. Only characteristics in the inclusion can use database indexes.
Characteristics in the exclusion cannot use indexes.
3) When a query is run against a MultiProvider, all of InfoProviders in that
MultiProvider are read. The selection of the InfoProviders in a MultiProvider
query can be controlled by restricting the virtual characteristic 0INFOPROVIDER
to only read the InfoProviders that are needed. In this way, there will be no
unnecessary database reads.
4) Defining calculated key figures at the InfoProvider level instead
of the query level will improve query runtime performance, but may add
time for data loads.
5) Cell calculation by means of the cell editor generates separate queries at query
runtime. Be cautious with cell calculations.
6) Customer-specific code is necessary for virtual key figures and characteristics.

7)Using graphics in queries, such as charts, can have a performance impact.

one for Itunes and other for everything else.
I dont want to use the itunes id for imessage/facetime.
i tried the following solutions to no avail:
1. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268.
2. Click on DNS and change the current value to 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4
3. verified -unverified-verified email.
4.disassociated /removed alternate Apple ids.

Characteristics in IP Query

Hi,
I have to create a Input- ready query. for that purpose i have defined a aggregation level over a customized Sales Cube taking data from 2lis_13_vditm. In my aggregation level below chars are invloved -
Profit center, controlling are (1 fixed value), Company code (Single value), Calender yr month, version, sales group, currency and two key figures 1- for actual Net item value and other is Planing key figure.
I have created the ready input query marked it to open in change mode, with planning key figure also as input ready.
But im facing the problem like if i put all the chars used in my aggregation level in the rows n query than i get Planning key figure as input enabled, and if i put the characteristics in the free chars which i need not to display in the report like cal month (this char i required to restrict various columns to be displayed in the rport like Value for Quarter, Value for a year etc) it disables the planning column input option.
So is it mandatory to put all the chars in the rows in query which are used in aggregation level. If we put them in free chars will it not work ?

Hi,
For a query to be input ready you can check for following conditions:
1.Check if the underlying realtime cube is in "Planning Mode:Loading not allowed" state in rsa1
2. If you have created an aggregation level, Check if the most detailed information is available at that Aggregation Level(i.e, include characteristics so that the record can be uniquely identified at that aggregation level).Best would be to include all characteristics and create a query first and ensure it works.Then remove unwanted charecteristics one by one, so that you can fix the issue.Best thing to start with is to create the aggregation level on top the real time cube itself.
3. Check for any characteristic restrictions been defined for the real-time cubes.If so, try removing them temporarily and execute the query
4.Also check if any data slices has been created on the real time cube. If so, try removing it temporarily and then execute the query.
5. Set the property for Planning "Start query in Change Mode"- this is for the Query
6. Set the 'Key Figure' Planning Property to "Can be changed Manually or via Planning Functions" for the appropriate KeyFigures- this is for the key figures
7. Try removing the currency/unit from row/column. Try restricting them in filters rather than in row/columns.
8. Check if there are any locks occurring due to filter., i.e if you are using a filter and even if 1 record of this selection locks with another user's selection you lose the input readiness.

Waiting for activation have not found a way to fix this

Ok so I'm overseas and I cannot use cellular data because I don't want to get billed a crazy amount however when using wifi the first week I was here I was able to text and face time with no problem. Then we went for a week to the country with no solid internet connection however we set up a very weak hotspot using a tablet, that's when I noticed I wasn't able to text and I saw the message waiting for activation since it took around 5 mins to load a web page I figured it was just a problem with the internet and I ignored it. Now we are back in the city (where we were when it worked fine the first week) and I still have the same problem, I have read countless articles about how to fix this and nothing seems to work the only option I haven't tried is to wipe the phone and restore it with a backup however i can't do that since I am no where near my computer. So is there any one else having the same waiting for activation problem as me? Is there anything I can do, any help would be much appreciated.

IPad+iMessage 'error occured during activation'

hi there.
i'm trying to connect my ipad to my imessage account which i have on my iphone.
I've researched the problem and i have updated onto the latest iOS 7 update, reset network setting back to factory, put time to auto (everything short of wiping my ipad completely which im reluctant to do)
can anyone help me as my iphone tends to run out of battery mid conversation and obviously that's inconvenient

If i understood correctly yours questions, you would like to know the details for GL account hierarchy.
There are two hierarchy available at ECC side ( GL account and FS Item level). Both used for analyzing the financial data. You can have multiple hierarchy in ECC system to see and analyze the data and same way you can have multiple hierarchy can load in SAP BI at info object level and later restrict the report at query designer level or run time.
No need to create any custom data source for uploading the GL hierarchy. Pls check with SAP FI consultant to know the correct hierarchy to upload.
Activate both of data source and use the InfoPackage at info object level to upload the hierarchy. In info package (SAP BI) you can see the option ( Available hierarchy at OLTP), at a time you can select one hierarchy to upload. later you can go by restricted KPI with filtering with proper node to get the desired report output using BE-x.

I have created a web template(copy of Std Template) and using export to PDF option. while downloading I am getting all the variables used in the query.
My question: Is there any way I can restrict to selective variables? I know using some INFO_FIELD_ITEM in XHTML but not sure what the exact code to write,

You need to insert an Info Field Item onto the template. Please choose from the Info Field settings as to whether you need to display only static filters (query restrictions) or dynamic filters (user entry vars) or you can also choose to show only selective vars by specifying the same under Data Binding -> List of Elements to Display -> Type of Text Element = Variable Value & then specifying the var, likewise for each such var you wish to show. Alternatively, you can also choose to display only vars having values i.e Display Variables -> Variable Settings -> Only Variables with values.
You then need to ensure you choose the Info Field Item as one of the web items to be included in the Export to PDF command. Hope this helps.

In this case, don't we need schema for the relevant tables huh? . How the normalization of tables and joins will be handled? .

while creating universe you have two options to select the connections
OLAP Connection
Relational Connection
As per your requirement you have chosen OLAP Connection i think.
So OLAP connections to connect to an SAP NetWeaver BW data source based on a BW server, a cube, and a BEx query.
If your backed as BW ...then No business layer or universe is required to access BEx queries. We can directly select the BEx query as a data source.
You can do all the calculations & data restriction (CKF, RKF, Filters and Variables) and use Bex Q as direct source.
