Right Justify Numbered List

In a very simple table, within Pages Layout - I want to list 10 numbered items and have the numbers be right justified. not the entire text, just the numbers. I do not find a way to do that. Thanks for any help.

I think OP is talking about a Table in Layout mode. If you have both text and number in the same cell you need to use tab BUT in a table you have to hold down the Alt key when using the Tab key, otherwise you only move to the next cell. In the Inspector you can change it to a right adjusted tab.
Is that working for you?
Here on my machine, if I put a decimal tab stop in the cell's ruler,
the number aligns correctly when I insert a tab (alt + tab)
but it returns to the left side when I leave the cell.
It seems that the feature was designed for the old tables (those in iWork 1 and 2) but fails with the tables using the Numbers structure.
Only the alignment buttons give a correct behavior (but the decimal characters are aligned only if the number of decimals is fixed and if the font used is a monospaced one. Boring, isn't it ?

  • Sort options right justified in list view

    New to Maverick's, but I can't get my finder window to "stick" with the layout of the "sort options". My biggest beef is that I have the "Name" sort far left followed by "Date modified", etc.. yet every day in every new finder window, the 2nd sort jumps to right justified. I want this sort option to stick to the left alongside name. I use large monitors and scrolling over everytime to drag the sort modifier to the left is frustrating. Is there a solution?

    My guess would be the Images folder (Pictures in English) is designed to have the special, contextual grouping types.
    I don't know why they couldn't make them available in the dropdown menu, also, but they're not.
    I did a little testing and found if I called it Pictures unsorted, the options were available, but if I called the folder unsorted Pictures, they weren't.
    Try naming the folder starting with Images
    Edit: If I select the dimension and resolution column headers in the folder, then change the name of the folder, the columns are retained.

  • How can the numbers in numbered lists be right-justified?

    In numbered lists, the numbers are by default left-justified. Is there a way to make the numbers in a given list right-justified, so the periods line up? Is there a way to change the default?

    As a writer, I also need to be able to have the numbers in a list line up in an acceptable word processing way, so that the decimal points line up when you get to 2 digits.
    8.
    9.
    10.
    I do not want it to look like this.  I have had to work around by numbering a long list with alphabet letters.
    On another occasion, I created my list using 2 columns in numbers, where the numbers automatically right justify.  Then pasted it into my pages document.
    I don't want to have to do that.  AND I don't want to have to deal with tabs.  I should be able to handle this in Preferences, or Inspector, where I handle most everything else.    If I can, I can't figure it out, and there doesn't seem to be a help in the manual or Help menu.
    Perhaps I'm out of date and it is now proper to not have the decimal point line up????  Don't think so.

  • Numbers-Auto Generating a numbered list in a column of cells

    Having trouble creating an auto-generating numbered list in a single column. In text inspector I choose bullets>numbers>start at 1. The first cell is filled in with a "1", but when I hit return or down arrow the 1 disappears. If I go back and type a "1" again, two "1's" appear in the same cell. I'm trying to make a table with 250 rows. Not sure what I'm missing, as I'm new to iWork.

    Numbers can fill a column or row of cells with a pattern. Type the first two numbers in the first two cells, select both cells, then click on the small circle at the lower right of the second cells & drag down to fill however many cells you want. You can see in this picture that it works for other patterns, not just consecutive numbers. I've also used it to fill across month names or dates.

  • Style Sheets: Retrofitting previously-numbered lists

    Hello wonderful INDD community!
    I have learned so much since my last visit here, and I want to say Thank you! You've helped me "up my game" with nested style sheets and grep!
    Working on the same catalog project as I was discussing before, and I've run into this quandary:
    This catalog has quite a lot of numbered lists, most of which were already numbered when I got them. I'm wanting to differentiate the numbers from the titles (which I've further differentiated from the descriptions using Nested Styles), but am having trouble deciding the best way to do it.
    The reason I bring my woes here is because this group, I know, members here will help me find the BEST way to do it! Not just any ole way.
    I sort of see two ways of approaching it:
    Using GREP Styles to identify the item numbers and also to insert a second tab to allow me to right-align the numbers. The 1st part, I think I can do, the 2nd part kind of makes my head spin.
    Converting these hand-typed numbered lists to INDD auto-numbered lists. The hurdle here, to me, is how to get rid of the debris of the hand-typed numbers in some easy automated way? This concept is kind of the reverse of INDD's "Convert Bullets and Numbering to Text" feature. A "Convert Text to Numbering" command.
    Now, it's easy for me to believe that somebody here in this forum has a better idea. I just wanted to prove to you that I've done my homework. Hours of it, in fact.
    Can peoples take a look at the attached image which attempts to illustrate what I'm after?
    Thanks SO MUCH,
    Mick

    Howdy all--
    Ok with some begrudgement, I have to say that technically this works.
    It's kind of slow-going though..and it's not without anguish, which isn't an indictment of Jongware's implementation; probably more an indication of my ignorance.
    What I'm doing is:
    Highlighting a list
    Styling it to a paragraph style that uses INDD's built in auto-numbering feature
    Running Jongware's GREP pattern (thank you!) to get rid of the old hand-typed numbers
    Placing the cursor in the middle of the first entry and right-clicking and selecting "Restart Numbering."
    I know this isn't exactly what the Doctor ordered, Jongware, but I prefer this modified workflow because it kept me from needing to change the "find/change" box back and forth between two states (even if those two states were only the one format change). I was afraid that would start boggling my brain after doing it many dozens of times..
    SO-- The thing that bugs me is step #4. I don't really understand the INDD behavior when it comes to auto-numbering. In the paragraph style I created  (see screen cap), if I set it to "start at 1" with a series of items highlighted, it numbers them all "1". If I say "continue from previous number," it refers to some bit of previous numbering in the story and picks up from there. Hence step #4.
    Anybody care to shed some light on INDD's kind of odd auto-numbering tendencies (or my ignorance?) :-)
    thanks again,
    Mick

  • FW: Caret Location Right Justified for LI when using HTMLEditorKit

    It appears that when using the HTMLEditorKit and inserting any sort of list
    item (ordered list or unordered list) into a view (while in edit mode), the
    caret is initially *---------| right justified with respect to the bullet
    image. If the identical html is loaded all at once however the caret is *-|
    left justified with respect to the bullet image. Is this a bug in
    HTMLEditorKit?

    Sure it is. In this special case IBM's JDK does a better job (at least under Linux).
    Generally I'm totally disappointed by the whole HTML package. I've been trying to implement a really primitive WYSIWIG-HTML-editor which understands <p>, <ul>, <h1> <b>, <i> and <a href>. It is a nightmare!
    - Dynamically modifying the document's structure (e.g., by making a <li> out of a <p>) works more or less, but you have absolutely no control over caret movement, and different JDK's make it differently!
    - The HTMLDocument inserts crude "extra-tags" (e.g., those <p-implied>'s. You never know exactly the structure of your document, and after a long debugging session you notice that the HTMLDocument was bluntly inserting yet another artificial element you did not specify. No docs at all what's going on.
    - It is nearly unbelievable how complicated so simple things like
    are internally modelled.
    - Frankly spoken: The whole document model sucks. Has to be harmonized with XML, DOM, JDOM, and all those nice new technologies where Java does a good job (unless you need a GUI...)
    If anybody has an idea to make it properly -> pls let me know
    thx

  • RH8 conversion (bullet images and numbered lists are different)

    Version 8.0.2.208
    Conversion of 1200 htm files.
    Has anyone experience bullet images in their custom styles changing from RH7 to RH8 and numbers in numbered lists resized?
    Bullets
    I noticed that all my bullet images have changed. They are OK in Design view, but change when the topics are previewed and generated.
    For example, if the style used a small square bullet image, it was changed to the bullet used at the beginning of this sentence.
    If I attempt to create a new bullet list in the existing topic using the Normal style (Arial 12)  and Formatting Toolbar (Bullets), the bullet and text are changed to (Arial 10) and the style name changes to (none) in Design view. Preview and generated is also Arial 10 for both.
    Numbered Lists
    Most of the existing converted topics used the Normal style and Formatting Toolbar (Numbers) for numbered lists. There is spacing between each numbered line. The numbers and text are in (Arial 12) in Design view, but the numbers are (Arial 10) when the topics are previewed and generated and the text remains (Arial 12).
    If I select the numbered list, click the numbered list icon to turn off numbering, and then click to turn on numbering, the numbers and text are (Arial 10) and the style is changed to (none). Output and preview are (Arial 10). The spacing between the numbered items is deleted.
    I have to then highlight that list and change the style back to Normal for (Arial 12) text.
    If I attempt to create a new numbered list in the existing topic using the Normal style (Arial 12)  and Formatting Toolbar (Bullets), the bullet and text are changed to (Arial 10) and the style name changes to (none) in Design view. Preview and generated is also Arial 10 for both.
    This has taken up a lot of my time. Any clues?
    Donna

    I went to the link you provided.I am still confused as to the step by step procedure to fix my custom bullet style that is used throughout my project. Can you globally fix this issue? It would be too time consuming to figure out where in 1200 topics this style is used. I guess I don't understand list styles.
    Custom Style = BulletList
    My custom (BulletList) style -  Design mode:
    Preview mode (incorrect)
    Another topic using ths sam (BulletList) style - Preview mode (incorrect should be square bullets)
    I select Format > Styles in design mode. Right-click on BulletList, select Edit.
    If I ceate a bulleted list, the square bullet is selected.

  • Why are my numbered lists changing formats?

    We upgraded from RH7 to RH9. Now all the numbered lists in drop-downs are messed up. For example, the look fine in the WYSIWYG view:
    But when generated, this is the result:
    The CSS reads as follows:
    LI.P-DropDownTextSteps {
    font-size: 8pt;
    font-family: Arial, sans-serif;
    list-style-type: lower-alpha;
    color: #af2305;
    In some cases, even the sans-serif font changes to a serif font and the size of the numbers changes. I have tried everything I can think of. I have spent countless hours and am really baffled.

    It has to be something so obvious, but I'm missing it.
    My OL tag is as follows:
    ol {
    font-family: Arial, sans-serif;
    font-size: 8 pt;
    font-style: normal;
    The result is below. For reference, the text is 8 pt.
    Below is how the CSS defines these numbers. There is another style where the list-style-type: lower-alpha does not work.
    ol {
    font-family: Arial, sans-serif;
    font-size: 8 pt;
    font-style: normal;
    P.NumberList {
    font-family: Arial, sans-serif;
    margin-top: 0pt;
    margin-bottom: 10pt;
    line-height: 11pt;
    font-size: 8pt;
    margin-right: 0.5in;
    margin-left: 0.5in;
    LI.P-NumberList {
    font-family: Arial, sans-serif;
    line-height: 11pt;
    font-size: 8pt;
    list-style-type: decimal;

  • I am trying to create a numbered list

    I am trying to creat a numbered list that looks like this:
    1-1-1
    1-1-2
    1-1-3
    and so on
    So that at the end of each sentence when I press 'return' the list goes from 1-1-1 to 1-1-2 and then 1-1-3 etc.
    Any information as to how to do that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    What you describe seems like a tiered number list.
    On the format bar, at the right where you would normaly select a list type, click on "Show More". On the Inspector pane that will apear select "Tiered Numbers".

  • Unable To Print Right Justified from Customize Local Layout (Alt+F12)

    Hi,
    Problem I am having is giving me nightmares. I am able to print hebrew text abap list in sap 4.5b. But when i change the Character Set of language from "Customize Local Layout"  (Alt+F12) to Hebrew (Right Justified) the preview shows up correcctly.  But when I print from an actual printer, it still shows output as (Left Justified). Can someone please help!!!!!!

    Hi
    Apologies for replying late. The printer is unicode enabled however, since we are on a non-unicode version of SAP (4.5b) it wouldnt really matter. We are printing Hebrew language. Its always coming out as left justified. We want it to print right justified.
    Awaiting some solution....

  • RIGHT JUSTIFY ISSUES

    Ok,
    So I am having a very frustrating issue....
    I am creating a Marketing for some instore signage.
    I am right justifying all of my text, each line of type is a different size, one of the lines is a number, the number is NOT aligning all the way right. I have tried different numbers and a different font (still same issue). I have also tried using the 'story' pallet, but it moves all the text in the text box, not just the one line I need to nudge to the right. I have also tried making a space to the Right of the number the negatively tracking it (this works when I LEFT justify things but NOT right justify).
    *I am making over 500 signs so I need something that is consistent and easy (not a hard way to work around it.. like creating an extra character with no fill and negatively tracking it.. that works, but will not be a good thing for over 500 signs)
    *my ultimate goal is to make these signs into paragraph styles so they are consistent.
    PLEASE HELP..

    I agree with Michael with the space assigned by the font designer is for optical spacing. This is normal for any well thought out font design as the character's axis is so important for TOS balance. The above blurb doesn't help you at least you're on the right track with Paragraph Styles;
    This example is for sans serif type, I would make sure each line ended with a paragraph return and all lines have a Right Indent spacing value.
    Create different paragraph styles with different Right Indent values for your different lines of text as you'll find flush/R characters with round bowls will hang outside your optical alignment compared with lower case y's for example.
    eg. your paragraph style for numbers and characters with F/R stems can have a Right Indent of .16 in.
    your line that end with round bowl characters can have a Right Indent of .175 and so on

  • The bullet list, numbered list and the normal text is not converting when I am converting from RH 9 to MS Word 2010

    Hi all,
    Greetings for the day
    I am created a new CSS in Robohelp 9. I have also created a new template in Word 2010. The style sets for different information elements like (Heading, bullets, body text, ) are more or less same between the CSS and the new templates. I am also able to map the .css styles to Word template when I am converting from RH to Word as I am getting the necessary option in the drop-down list.
    However, when the output is generated, the bullet, the numbered list and the body text is not converting at all. The body text works sometimes. However, the numbered list and bullet list is coming out as images.
    If anybody knows the solution, I can share the .css and Word template.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Parag Deb

    Create a new project with two or three topics containing lists of both types. Generate a printed output that shows the problem. Then zip it up and send it to me. See the Contact page on my site for instructions.

  • Plug-in for bullets and numbered lists in Mail??

    Does anyone know of any plug-ins for the Mail app to do bullets and numbered lists like Entourage??
    The lack of this functionality really makes Mail kinda lame and unusable for me.
    Thanks!

    Paul,
    the fact that Mail does not support bullit lists is not an oversight but was done on purpose. It may look good on your computer when you compose the message, but you have little influence in the way recipients see that message. It can get very messy, I can assure you.
    If you want a perfect layout, compose in a wordprocessor and save as PDF, send that as an attachment.

  • Several separate numbered lists in one text thread?

    I'm working on a booklet in which there are several numbered list that are independent of each other.
    How do I set the numbering options so that there would be one list
    (eg. A paragraph style, which is numbered, and then, inside the paragraphs there would go an independent numbered list, that starts at nro: 1 as well)?
    I’m working with Adobe InDesign CC 2014.
    The situ at the moment is as shown in the picture below. Eg. the list in the view should be numbered 1,2,3... and not 1,1,1...
    And the option "Restart Numbers at This Level After:..." is not abled.

    you have to choose Continue from Previous Number
    you have to change your Mode Start at in Continue from Previous Number
