Running reports created with Reports 9i in client-server configuration

I need to have users run reports created with Oracle Reports 9i on workstations without any Oracle products installed on it, (in a client-server configuration as opposed to Web based) . I am looking for a step-by-step approach to accomplish this. I looked through the installation documents in OTN and I did not see one that addressed this.
BTW, I saw an earlier post in this form which disscussed this,indirectly, for Reports 6i but I don't think these steps will work for 9i rpeorts

I have an application in Oracle 8i, Forms 6i, Reports 6i. Now I want to make executable CD which will be installable in nature. I don't know how to make it or what tools to be used for this . Kindly help me out.
Answer:
You can write a .bat file for installation.....
This file should do following things.
1. Oracle8 Personal Setup
Install only Database (no tools)
2. Oracle Developer200 Setup
Install only Forms Runtime
Reports Runtime
Graphics Runtime
3. Use imp/exp to put the desired database...
4. Copy exexutables in some directory and place shortcuts in programs and destkop
5. Make new file-types in start->setting ->folder options-> file-types
and specify that in which runtime-application you want to open your executables....

hi audrey,
there is no client/server runtime available for reports9i. what
you can do is to use the rwclient executable shipped with IDS
to submit jobs to the reports server.
there are plans to provide a stand alone thin client in the
future but this is not available yet.

    And now we ned complex reports. With BIP we can create them.
    But is there a way to call them from forms, like reports created with Report builder?
    Can we transfer parameters from forms to BIP reports, so data can be queried on that form parameters?

    it's a new version of the mentioned paper at the OTN-Forms-Side and the old one was removed.
    The document describes the way, how to integrate BI Publisher via Web Services into Forms. There are other ways available like
    - using HTTP calls via show_document
    - using the JavaAPI of BI Publisher and import the needed classes to Forms

    Table YSCO_BASE_ALOCAC is not installed in Report Writer.

    Diagnosis
    The Report Writer can only report on tables if the attributes of these tables that are relevant for reporting are defined in control tables. This is not the case for table YSCO_BASE_ALOCAC.

  • Cfreport cutting off lines on multiple pages created with report builder

    I have a report built with report builder and it appears that if you set the body to "stretch with overflow" that cfreport will "cut off" a line or two every time it paginates see attached for a simplified version of the report, I have removed all but the body on this (actual report has a watermark, report header, page header and page footer ...the problem is pretty apparnt with this scaled down version as you can see it's missing text from one page to the next ..any ideas/suggestions/known bug??     As per my understanding, I think this issue is caused by width size is not appropriate in the report. To narrow down this issue, please make sure that Body Width + Left margin + Right margin <= (Page width).
    If the tablix is a matrix, because of the column group can expand to multiple columns, we should according to the following rule:
    Body Width + Extra expanded column width + Left margin + Right margin <= (Page width).
    Besides, please make sure there are no extra page breaks before each “R”. To check whether the issue is caused by the letter “R”, we can try to use another field to replace the Company Name field.

    Can anybody please let me know,  how to create a copy of a report created using Report Writer. I dont have a copy of what is there in production and would like to make a copy before changing it. Also if it is possible , can I have a copy of it in Production?

    I got some good inputs from <b>Jessie</b> on this issue and observed that the reports which are created through report painter are standard one having entries in the TSTCP table .
    <b>But the reports(Through Report Painter) which are creaed by us has no entry in TSTCP table !!</b>
    Kindly show the way, how to attach the T.code to the reports which are created through report painter. as its getting so buggy now !!

  • Access-SQL Server (Client Server Configuration) Best Way To Refresh SQL Server Records ?

    We are using Access 2013 as the front end and SQL Server 2014 as the back end to a client server configuration.
    Access controls are bound to the SQL fields with the same names. When using Access to create a new record in a Form, the data are not transferred to SQL if the form is exited to display a different Form or Access is closed. If the right or left arrow navigation
    buttons at the bottom of the form are first used to display either the previous or next record, then the data in the new record are correctly transferred to SQL.
    What is the best way to refresh the new SQL record prior to the closing of the new record in the bound Access form ? We have tried Requery of the entire form and with all of the individual controls without success. We are looking for a method of refreshing
    SQL that functions in a manner similar to that of what happens with the navigation buttons.

    Hi Stefan,
    I had added the code to set me.dirty = False in response to the On Dirty event and didn't realize that it was working properly. I had tried other several approaches and must have become confused somewhere along the line.
    I retested the program. On Dirty is working and the problem is solved.

    I am new to Primavera. I wanted to know what are the exact specifications required for installing Primaver P6 EPPM Client / Server.
    The configuration would consists of all the modules like - Project Management, Timesheet, Web Access.
    Also, we have a server with SAP installed on it. Can we still go ahead and install Primavera on it.
    I have searched a lot on Google for the realistic client/server configuration. But no luck.

  • [FlexPMD] flexpmd.html report created with zero bytes [Plz help]

    initially i integrated FlexPMD with Maven.
    when i tried to build it creates the following:
    two folders:
    * CSS --- contains css files
    * Images --- contains image files
    two files:
    flexpmd.html -- created with zero bytes
    pmd.xml -- it lists the violations.
    my pom.xml

    then i tried to integrate with Hudson, i configured this pmd.xml with hudson, its showing empty graph(see below)
    could you tell me , why this flexpmd.html is generated with zero bytes and why i'm not able to see plotted graph
    i tried the following version 1.0.RC4,1.0.RC5 and 1.1. but these versions also creating empty html report and some versions not running under hudson.
    please provide the correct version and details to solve this issue.
    please help in this issue, no help except this forum... i googled already did nt get any help.

    In client server mode you can use RUN_PRODUCT built-in. Lookup help for this built-in for more details.

    Dear all,
    i am just a "user" of an application in which the reports had being created with CR prior version 9. These reports need to be modified. But if i do with CR XI i will get the information "does not support reports prior version XI. and the reports in my application are not shown anymore and error  2147206429 message "Invalid TLV Record" is shown. Kindly i would appriciate your support very much

    could be the reason, sounds good. I can remember we had this problem (or similar) about 2 years ago, by changing or adding a small file it was solved. However i guess its worth to follow up, here are my questions
    1. where do i get the print engine (or driver) for CR XI ?
    2. is it possible to have two print engines installed at the same time and location? as most of the reports do not need to be changed and can still work with the old one.
    3 how is a print engine named (file type or name) so i could locate the old one and will know where i do have to place the new one. Can anyone forward me the print engine as a attached file on email? Sorry guys as mentioned i am just a user who try to solve a problem and over here (Thailand, Pattaya) i havent found a specialist which is for sure be able to solve it in less then an hour. But i highly appriciate that all of you trying to help and support me. Many thanks to all at this point.

    se93 type a new Z tcode and create new.. from the drop down list select "program and selection screen (report transaction)"
    go back to your report screen from menu; "system --> status" and get the program name for the report.
    type this report to the se93 screen for the t.code. and save...

  • Retrieve and store the last page num. of a report created with the XML Publ

    The customer has the need to store the last page number of a report created using XML Publisher technology.
    This page number is to be recovered for reuse as a starting page number next to the launch of the report itself.
    The last page number would be stored in a custom table. The value passed through the procedure defined in AfterReport pkg.
    At the next launch of the report to retrieve the value of the last page of the previous launch BeforReport the procedure.
    Can you not retrieve the value when the report is processed?
    Now the customer has created a parameter in the report indicating the first page number to be included in the report itself.
    The customer has to remember when launching the report on the last page number of the previous launch.
    With Report Builder you can do it. But the new reports are made with R12 XML Publisher technology.
    Is there anyone who can give us a solution?

    If you are new to BI Publisher then what I am going to suggest next may have not much sense.
    But, anyways I am sharing this idea with the rest of the community for their benefit.
    It is not impossible but requires some work. You will have to have total control of the document generation and process each step individually:
    - Process before report generation
    - Generate PDF
    - Count PDF pages
    - Process information of PDF pages
    In order for you to do this you will have to use BI Publisher APIs.
    xdocore.jar + Versioninfo.jar contain all you need. I just tested it myself.

    I've created a report using CR for SAP BO. When I try to save it on SAP, I receive the following error message: "RPC server not available. (Exception HResult:0x800706BA)".
