Security Warning on submission of PDF

I have an XDP form that acts as a user interface for a database in a Workflow Server process to gather information, and then is submitted back to Workflow Server to continue the process. It is rendered as a PDF. If the database functionality of the PDF file is used, i.e. to repopulate a list or validate entries, the following dialog box appears:
"Security Warning
This document as accessed more than one site and might be trying to share data among different locations. This could be a privacy concern. Are you sure you want to continue?"
I'm running Acrobat Pro 7 in IE6, with LiveCycle 7 products. The only thing I can say with any amount of confidence is that it's not a browser issue, as I get identical messages when viewed through either IE or FireFox. I believe it's an Acrobat issue, but I can't find anywhere in the Acrobat settings to disable it. This is a major annoyance for the users, since more and more forms are going to need this functionality as we progress, and the average user does NOT like to see a "Security Warning" every time they submit a form.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Clifton Cline

edit: The Security Warning appears when the user submits the form, not when the ADBC JavaScript is running.

• Removing the "Security Warning" dialogue box on default when a PDF is opened

Hey
I have created a pdf document with a specific data written using iText Libraries. I have actually created a beacon that generates a notification sent to the owner's email when the pdf is opened.
The code is under OpenAction. The problem I am facing is that as I open the document, a dialogue box is opened saying "Security Warning" The document is trying to connect to : URL. How do I get rid of this dialogue box. ? I don't want this dialogue box to appear and allow the connection by default. I have tried playing with the Trust Manager - but that doesn't seem to be the solution, as am trying to execute my PDF document at a remote machine.

There was a lot of media fuss years back when it was found out that PDF files could "phone home", i.e. do what you want to do. So Adobe put this warning in. It wouldn't be much good as a warning if the creator of a PDF could choose to turn it off!
Document creators like to track people opening documents. Privacy advocates consider this a breach of privacy. The latter group shouts louder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoning_home

• Opening a pdf from a link in another pdf shows always security warning

The problem occuers every time in the same document, even if i put "remember this action for this site for all PDF documents" with ALLOW.
In a PDF i have links to other PDF's and for every link i get the same Security Warning.
I put the mark on "Remember this action for this site for all PDF documents" wit ALLOW
Next time I open same document, i get the same Security Warning.
How can I make this security warning dissapear?
Why doesn't it take my command for the next time
We use Windows 7 and the newest Adobe Reader 11.0
Thanks for helpful feedback

Hi same problem here but only on Windows 7 in Acrobat Reader. Full Acrobat on Windows and Mac ok, and Reader on Mac works fine too. I've got a pdf with links to other pdfs. On windows I have to click 'Allow' each time I reopen the document. Very annoying, especially that Mac versions seems to work just fine. Tom

• How do I avoid the recipient of my Indesign PDF receiving a security warning when clicking on links?

I create PDF's out of Indesign to send to new clients. They contain links to external websites. They do not contain any javascript or videos or hidden links. If the PDF is opened in Adobe Reader, when the recipient clicks on a hyperlink in my PDF they get a security warning asking if they trust the site. How can I avoid the recipient receiving this Security Warning as it would scare people into thinking I had sent them something malicious when I haven't?

You cannot avoid it, that's part of the PDF security system to make the user aware that he is entering non-trusted area, as it is with every web page when it is opened the first time in Reader or Acrobat on this computer. ThatÄs an unchageable fact. You have to live with it.

There's nothing you can do as the creator of the file. If you could, that whole source of security would be worthless.
They would need to tweak their security settings in Edit>Preferences>Security(enhanced).

• PDF form with buttons opens up URL with security warning window

I have a short-lived process that renders PDF form with data merged. The data is in XML format.
The form buttons are assigned URL values when the form is opened. When I click on them,I get a Security warning prompting me to allow/block that site. When I click on 'Allow', I get a window of download statistics of the website that in the URL.
This would be annoying to the end user. How I do I suppress the Security warning window as well as the download statistics window before the PDF is opened ? Can this be done either at the process design, form design stage or using Java APIs ?
Thanks,

• I am trg to open a PDF and I am getting a security warning that says allow cancel or block and then it says it needs a signature to open the document I have never had this problem before it is on a public document I am trying to view any help is apperciat

I am trying to open a PDF in and I am getting a security warning that says block , close , or allow and then it still will not open then it says it needs a signature it is a public document any help is appreciated thank you in advance sorry this is my first time on here

I have no idea what you're talking about. Are you sure it want a "signature" and not "password"? If it asks you for password then the document is encrypted and you need to know the password toopen it. The fact that it is a "public" PDF, whatever you mean by "public" does not mean anything. If it is not that then:
Which product are you using, which version (including minor), which platform (Win/Mac), which OS/version? Please, include screenshots of the alerts, warnings that you get.

• Reader security warning message on pdf page linking

Hi All
I am building, for the 5th year running, an archive of a publications years magazines in pdf format. The pages are linked so that when for example an issue magazine cover is clicked in an index page I have created, it takes the viewer to the appropriate magazine pdf, all of which are stored as seperate files.
This has worked fine up until the introduction of Adobe Reader XI. Now a security warning message popup is generated every time a link to another page is clicked.
"This document is trying to access - page.pdf - if you trust this document then choose Allow if not choose Block"
We can't have this so:
Option One: Combine all the pdfs into one file, thus avoiding the problem but making a 400Meg file which may be a little unwealdy to edit
Option Two: Certify all the pages with a third party validated digital signature.
Question does any know if the Option Two will solve the problem?
I have aqured a test certificate from GlobalSign but it is maked as a test certificate and not to be trusted (not sure what the point of it is then!) and this does not work.
We don't want to pay $400 only to find that this does not solve the problem.
Anybody?
Thanks
Keith

In Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro I use the MArquee select Link Tool. It looks like a chain on the Advanced Editing toolbar.
Then the pages are linked using Open a file , or Go to a page view.
I am beging to think that this ia a bug. Because in edit / prefferenecs / security advanced / Add folder path. When you do this for a particular folder it makes no difference, you still get the Warning message.

• Why is my fillable pdf "Email to" action button giving security warning. Can someone help me?

I created a fillable pdf form with an action button that I would like users to use when submitting forms via email. I have double-checked to make sure of the correct email address, but I keep getting a security warning pop up. It states: "This document is trying to connect to: file..." and when I click allow it tells me I need to be running inside a browser to submit the form. All I want to do is allow users to send their form to a specific email address. Please help. I needed this assignment completed yesterday.

No, I am not opening the file in a browser window. I was trying to preview the file to make sure that it would work when it was sent to the individual via email. Will the function only work if the user downloads it from a web page? If so, that might explain a great deal.

• App.opendoc does not display security warning window like e.g. "open a file" function?

When I link from one PDF to the other via "open a file" function (both PDFs are located in %userprofile%/mydocuments directory), Reader X and XI open a security warning box. If I agree to open the target file, this specific file always opens without displaying the warning again.
When I link to the same file via app.opendoc, the security warning box does not open. So I do not get a chance to add the target file to the list of trusted files.
Is there any way to motivate app.opendoc to display security warning boxes due to the new sandboxing technology in Reader >= X? So that I get a chance to add the target PDF to the trusted PDFs?

Is there any chance that the application is being run from Developer Suite? In other words, is Developer Suite installed on the client machine and hosting the app?
Regardless, although anything is possible, I have never heard of what you are describing. In all cases, the dialog box should be the java dialog which is a grayish/purple color. The exact color will vary depending on the JRE version you are using.
If my first point is not the case, I would recommend that you consider using WebUtil 10.1.2.2 and also patch the AS environment to the same version. To get WebUtil to 10.1.2.2, you will need to patch a Developer Suite home and copy frmwebutil.jar to the AS home. After patching, I believe you will also find an updated webutil.pll in the DevSuite \forms directory which will also need to be copied then compiled on the deployment server.
Also, ensure that you are using Jinitiator 1.3.1.26 or newer. If you are using the Sun JRE, be sure you are using a certified/supported version. For example, you can use the latest 1.5.x Sun JRE with Forms 10.1.2.2, which is 1.5.0_15

• "Security Warning" dialog box when click script set to Run at Server

I am rendering a PDF form using the renderForm component. I'm setting the Target URL. I have a script on a button set to "run at server". I can render my form in a browser and fill it out, but when I click the button I get a dialog box with a title of "Security Warning". It says "Acrobat is attempting to connect to [target URL]" with options to Allow or Block. Is this the expected behaviour for server-side execution of scripts?
I'm thinking that maybe I should just use a submit button instead. The problem with that though, is that I don't want to run the mandatory field rules and validation rules. As I understand, you can't submit a form with a submit button unless all the mandatory fields are completed.
Here's the requirement. I need to have two "submit" buttons. One checks all the mandatory field rules before submitting a "final" version of the form. The other button submits a "draft" version without the mandatory checks. I was hoping that the second button could be implemented as a normal command button with a script that executes server-side. Sure enough, it attempted to submit without checking the mandatory fields. Unfortunately I ran into other undesirable side-effects including a distressing "Security Warning" dialog box.
Ideas?

This was helpful (stopped the request to execute Thunderbird) . However, The pop up window is now asking what program do you want to use to access the website??? What is the next step??

You have to remove http://www.eastsidestudios.com.au from the action URL and make it relative:
<form action="/FormProcessv2.aspx?WebFormID=42582&O ID={module_oid}&OTYPE={module_otype}&EID={module_eid}&CID={mo dule_cid}"

• Reader X - Under IE8 - Security Warning - Action unmemorized

Hi,
When I click a hyperlink, I have a security warning:
This document tries to connect to the site .....
I check the box Remember this action to this site and all PDF document.
But this action is not stored.
Have you any idea?
Cordially
PS: I do not have that message on a link that points to a page

I have both the .exe and the .msi files in the same directory. I ran
the .exe. After maybe 15 seconds of the progress bar running across
the program window, a dialog box appeared that stated, "This patch
could not be found. Verify that the patch really
exists..." After that, the installation aborted. I next tried running
the .msi directly (that is, without the .exe) by double clicking on
the msi's name in PowerDesk (the file manager). That immediately
brought up the "patch could not be found" dialog and aborted the
installation. Am I missing a file? Is the .MSI file corrupted or not
the correct file? If I rename the .MSI, thus removing it from the
installtion process, will the .exe do the whole job on its own?

• How do I turn off Security Warning?

I have a fillable pdf form that I created with Acrobat 9 and distribute via my website. The form has ‘more info’ links that point to informative html pages on my website. The problem is that clicking the ‘more info’ links pop up a Security Warning on the user's computer.
How do I turn off the Security Warning? My website IS safe! Do I need a security clearance from Adobe to turn off the Security Warning?

Nope. That's all on the users end and beyond your control.
They can allow it once and have it remember from there on out or they can add you to their trusted sites.
If you could bypass it on your end, there wouldn't be any reason to have that feature.

Users who are having latest Adobe version, were getting javascript warning message. However, those with older versions able to "Silent Print", without any warning messages.
How to disable this security warning while printing from Javascript?
Warning message: "A script has requested to print an Acrobat file. This could print an entire document. Do you want to proceed printing?".
Appreciate for your kind help.
Thanks.

It's a security warning so it can't be bypassed by anything within the file.
