Setup connectivity from ABAP to Java stack

Hi
I'm struggling to make connectivity setup from ABAP to Java stack. Objective is to call a java method published on javastack from a report/FM. Can some one guide me with some examples. Appreciate all your responses.
Thanks

  • How to connect separated ABAP and Java stacks ?

    Hi,
I have installed two separate ABAP and Java Stacks and trying to connect both the stacks together.
As per my understanding, only JCO RFC is the mean of communication between ABAP and Java stacks.
But still even after configuring the JCO RFC successfully, I am unable to view, configure or control
J2EE stack's status from smicm (ABAP).
Would you please suggest me, if there is any more configuration to be done on abap or Java stack side.
    Thanks,
    Cheers !!!
    Ashish

    Hi Sunny,
JCO RFC is tested and it is working fine. So no issues from JCO RFC side. Hope you would have read carefully.

Hope I am able to clear your doubt. Java is completely separated stack and not add-on.
Suggest me how can I proceed further on this connectivity.

    Hi Olivier,
I am grateful to you for your reply. I understood your point but now except a successful JCO RFC test,
is there any mean to check and ensure that both the stacks are connected properly and ready to use.

  • Connectivity between ABAP and Java Stacks for BI

    Dear all,
our BI developer have to use BW Analyser for showing and changing of BW reports in Java based NetWeaver Portal.
Initially just ABAP stack (SID DCE) was installed. In Februar 2014 I installed also an Java Stack (SID JCE) and got dokumentation for
connection to ABAP Stack from SAP Support, it is attached. Further help from SAP Support is not possible, they mean that this
    case belong to consultion issues.
    Follow activities were sucessfully done:
    1. RFC connection DMSAPERP4DEV_PORTAL_JCE was created in J2EE engine
    2. RFC connection DMSAPERP4DEV_PORTAL_JCE was created for Portal
    3. Portal Server Settings were maintained for portal
    4. Singe Sign-In in BI was maintained
    5. BI Certificate was imported from BI
    6. Portal Certificae was exported from Portal
    7. Portal Certificate was imported into BI.
By processing of attached SAP guide it was a problem at step 7 "Create BI System in the Portal"with the
creatig of BW system name. Under "System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape"
I found no systems which are maintained with the Portal Content Studio. I take a template "SAP_R3_Dedicated"
but can not change the system name to "SAP_BW", it is still "Dedicated Application Server for R/3 System". All other
    properties was set fine.
At step 8 of mentioned guide I face the next problem - there is no system names under "SAP Reference System"
under "Administration -> System Configuration -> Configuration for User Management", because the system
name on the step 7 could be not set correct, so I can not choose any.
Please advice how to proceed here.
    Thank you and best regards

    Hi,
It clearly says the problem is with virtual memory. SO you need to change your virtual memory settings using configtool.
    See the relevant note.940893
Make changes in the VM parameters for Bootstarp, Dispatched and the server nodes. Your -Xms should be less than equal to -Xmx.
    Restart the cluster then.
    It should work.
    Do reward good points.

  • ABAP aND Java Stack

Whats the use of an ABAP and Java Stacks in XI? What exactly they are doing for XI?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Tha ABAP stack consists of the Integration Server which in turn contains your Integration Engine and Business Process Engine.
The J2EE stack contains the Adapter Engine and your IR and ID run on the J2EE engine.
Ever wondered how and where the XI pipeline gets executed? It happens in the ABAP stack.
All messsages picked by the Adapter Framework running on the J2EE engine are passed to the Integration Engine, which does the routing. The mapping program again gets executed on the Java stack and the rest of the pipeline servies are executed again on the ABAP stack and so  on.
Take a look at the XI overview doc to understand this better,

  • TCP/IP Connection from ABAP

    Hello everybody.
Does anybody know the way how to create TCP/IP connection from ABAP? I need to establish TCP/IP connection from Appication server to external server(not sap) to retrieve some data. I assume that it can be done using RFC calling technique, but i think that i have to register needed functionality as RFC in external server. To skip this step i need an explicit TCP/IP from abap.
    Thank you for helping.

    Hi Yadagiri,
Please check the reply from Carlos in the below thread
Re: increasing heapsize of java on WINDOWS 2003
Also check your sm59 RFC destination, i guess there is some problem.
Delete AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER(RFC connection between the Java engine and the ABAP engine) and create it again.

  • Testing SSL Connections, differences between ABAP and JAVA stacks

    Hello,
I am trying to test an outbound SSL connection to a partner.   I already have multiple outbound connections to many partners, but this new one is causing an issue.   Our firewalls between the two sites are opened as required, I verified that I can telnet to the 443 port of their sever.   I then attempted to connect to their URL, via a Java SOAP message, and it is rejected.  Some kind of error regarding our handshake.
In an attempt to troubleshoot the issue I entered their URL in SM59 as a HTTPS connection, tested it, it worked fine.   Which indicates to me that the ABAP side works fine.
I do the same on the Java stack, via the SOA Manager: Destinations, and it fails.
"Error during ping operation: Error while silently connecting org.w3c.www.protocol.http.Http.Eception: Peer sent alert: Alert Fatal: unexpected message"
I was thinking that maybe the remote partner only allows specific types of SSL version connection, and the Java side is too low.  i.e. the partner only allows TLS v1, and we are attempting to use SSL v2.    Is there a place to set this on the Java side?  I know I can set inbound parameters on ICM via SMICM.
Any help or assistance would be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michael Montone

    Hi,
I suggest that you verify if you use the same release of the SAP Cryptolib  for the ABAP and the Java stack.
This could explain a difference of support for SSL or TLS.

    Olivier

  • How ABAP and JAVA stacks are connecting

    Hi Experts,
I have a doubt in pi. We are developing Message Mapping in IR, it means it is running on JAVA STACK. But we are checking any mapping error in SXMB_MONI which will run on ABAP STACK.
Now My doubt is " How JAVA and ABAP stacks are connecting to each other and How we are able to see Mapping error in Integration Engine which resides on ABAP stack even though we create Mapping in IR which runs on Java".
    Thanks&Regards ,
    Gajapathi.

    Hi Gajapathi,
How JAVA and ABAP stacks are connecting to each other
PI manages using single database for both JAVA and ABAP servers. But both access them using different schema. They connect using RFC protocol via SAP Java Connector (JCo Connector).
How we are able to see Mapping error in Integration Engine
which resides on ABAP stack even though we create Mapping in IR which runs on Java".
So when you create a object be it mapping or interface or any XI objects, it is stored in Single Database. When you use ABAP sxmb_moni for monitoring the message, it uses ABAP related schema to access the message.
I hope it answers you query.

  • Running different SPs in ABAP and Java Stack?

    Hi,
we do have a dual stack installation of the Web Application server.
We wanted to update from SP9 to SP12. Unfortunately we had problems with updating the ABAP Stack. The problems are not solved yet.
At the Java side we would like to user some new features of SP12. Can we update the Java stack though the ABAP stack is not updated yet?
    Thanks for an anwser
    Helmut

    Hi
I have tried it - not with this particular combination of packages but it should not matter.  SAP made support packages stacks to make i.e. testing easier so of cause they will not recommend different levels - which I wont do either in general. However for a particular scenario/installation that I knows and as an exception I would not be reserved for doing this.
It also depends of what runs on the WAS and how much interaction between the two stacks there is.  One example could be running EP on a dobule stack system, here I would not personally be afraid og having a higher Java level than abap.
One question of cause is what's the problem with patching the abap stack? It would always be better to solve this problem first, but sometimes we have to make expetions due to timing and priorities...

  • ABAP and Java Stack: Which to choose/supported standards and components?

    Hello,
I am trying to understand the role of the two stacks in NW. Maybe anyone has a few
hints where I can find answers to the following questions:
    - An overview of supported Standards (Java 5 since when?)
    - An overview of which component runs on which stack? Portal->Java, Integration Server->ABAP and so on.
    - Guidelines when to install both stacks and when to use just one stack? When do I use which one?
    - Has SAP an stategy towards an one Stack solution (possibly Java?)
Best regards and thanks for any pointers!
    Stefan

An overview of supported Standards (Java 5 since when?)
    Go to service.sap.com/pam
Product Availability Matrix will tell you about supported version and platforms.
An overview of which component runs on which stack? Portal->Java, Integration Server->ABAP and so on.
Usually the question goes the other direction: what stacks we need for implementation of a particular function?
More and more products require ABAP backend and Java frontend.
For example Employee Self Service has been transerred from ABAP only ITS based to ABAP backend and Java frontend.
    Same with SRM.
Guidelines when to install both stacks and when to use just one stack? When do I use which one?
Same as above, driven by business requirements, not technology.
Has SAP an stategy towards an one Stack solution (possibly Java?)
No. Core business functions are still being developed on ABAP and interface, GUI etc utilize JAVA.

  • Seperate ABAP and JAVA stack for BI

    Hi,
We already have running a ABAP stack with BI 7.0 on Oracle/AIX
We are now going to install the JAVA stack with the following software units (AS JAVA, EP, EPC, BI JAVA) to a seperate AIX server. I do have the following questions:
1.) The installation of the JAVA stack will also create a new database or is it possible to use/connect to the database of the ABAP stack
2.) How are we going to connect the ABAP server to the JAVA server. Will that be with JCO or RfC or something else.
3.) Installing the JAVA on a seperate server, how the handle the user store. Creating its own or can we use the user store of the ABAP such as in a dual stack installation ?
4.) Other issue's what is worth to mention
    please advise
    Ritchie

    Hi Ritchie,
You can have different installation options.Amswers below
1)As you are installing in a different system It will create a sepatate database and the connection will happen through jco/rfc.
    2) jco/rfc will be used for connection
3)User store will be selected according to the installation mode mentioned in the installation guide.

  • Individual business system for ABAP and Java Stack

    Hi All,
I need to send message from a system to XI via ABAP proxy and Java proxy. The sender's ABAP and Java proxy use the same message interface to communicate with XI. Should I create one business system for the ABAP stack and one for Java stack of the sender system?
    Thanks + Best Regards
    Jerome

Are you sending same message type from ABAP proxy and Java Proxy to XI?
If you have ABAP proxy, why do you need Java Proxy? Actually you cannot create any Java proxies on ABAP bases systems. What kind of system sender is? Java proxies are created for pure Java based applications.
Let me know if I didnt understand your question correctly. If so, please explain in detail why you need both proxies and what is your sender application.

  • Login issue with respect to ABAP and JAVA Stack

    Dear All,
we are trying to make an external facing portal which has
       Content Area
       Left Navigation(custom par)
we are having two servers one is running on ABAP stack and other one on JAVA stack, at different locations.we need to deploy the same portal applications on both the servers. Both the servers are EP7 and SP10
I had downloaded the com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak file and renamed it and modified it in terms of taking out the TopArea.txt and BotArea.txt from the umlogon.jsp page and uploaded the par in portal and created the ivew for the same.
our requirement is similiar to the funtionality as of SDN External Facing portal.
The iview(logon iview) is added to the anonymous framework page. The iviews on both the servers have the same par.
In case of  ABAP stack server, after logon, the respective roles of the user are rendered in the Left Navigation.
However in case of JAVA Stack sever ,after logon, one enters into the portal itself.
We are not able to ascertain what might be the reason for such a behaviour, as the par is same in both the server. Is there any different mechanism, in case of Java Stack and ABAP stack? If so what points need to be kept in mind?
Also would like to know, is the approach correct? or is there any other approach?
    Thanks
    Gunjan

    Hi Michael,
Firstly, I'll explain the complete scenario.
The configuration of the two servers are as below.
    1)  The server is running on ABAP+JAVA Stack and the data source  of UME Collaboration data source is on ABAP System
2)The Second server is running on Java Stack and the UME collaboration data source is Database only.
our portal has the same desktop on both the server. there are no TLN. We have only Masthead, Left Navigation, Content Area and Login. Everything is the same except the above mentioned points.
On the 1st System, when we log on we are able to see our custom Desktop developed by us.
On the 2nd server, when we log on, we are not able to see the custom Desktop developed by us, infact we get the default SAP Netweaver Portal with TLN specific to the Logged in User.
Why are we facing this scenario in the 2nd server, We felt it might be because of the difference in the Stack and Data Source. Are we targeting in the right direction?
Or is it that we are missing some thing or doing something wrong in the UME configurations on the 2nd System.
    Thanks
