Short dump in program to trigger process chain

Hi all,
We have an ABAP program written to trigger a process chain...When we execute the ABAP program it goes on for a long time and then returns a short dump.It dosent even trigger the process chain.
What could be the reason for this?

The reason for the exception is:
If you use an ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert to insert a record in
the database and that record already exists with the same key,
this results in a termination.
(With an ABAP/4 Open SQL single record insert in the same error
situation, processing does not terminate, but SY-SUBRC is set to 4.)

BW: Not getting Dump For Program error in Process Chain

I have one issue regarding Master data loading issue in BW(3.5).
My business flow like we have received data from server A and Server A extract data from Server B and
Server B which is extract data from source(R/3).
Flow like this R/3-->Server B-->Server A(ETL) -
> My Server.
We have a mater data process chain and that chain we have have the source system Server A but in the process chain one process is there which is fethces data like global transport e.g UOM,factory calender etc through Custom program directly from Server B.
Oneday what happened On that process the process chain Yellow since more than 16 hrs.Once nextday process chain trigger the process chain runs sucessfuly.
But lastdays process chain paticular process stills remains yellow?
We are not getting any dumps and even if from Server A there is no logs then anyone could please tell me what is reason and how to solve it.
Note: it will be helpful for me if any one know how to check dump for program errors in Process chain as narated issue.

The question is, why the program RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS is not scheduled. Is it because there is no free resource? Or poor response from SAP ECC?
Finally what does "EXTRACTION OF DATAPACKAGE 000001" mean? Its not scheduled?

Short Dump created while modifying a process chain

Hi guys ,
Iam getting a short dump while trying to modify a process chain and it is taking me too short dump where the message is PROCESS HAS NO PREDECESSOR but even when Iam trying to DETAILED VIEW it is taking me too short dump

While trying to call a process chain remotely from SCM APO system to SAP BW system - we are getting below short dump -
Short text
    Screen output without connection to user.
What happened?
    Error in the ABAP Application Program
    The current ABAP program "SAPLSDH4" had to be terminated because it has
    come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
Checked the RFC connection between APO and BW system through SM59 and it is working fine - Can anyone pease suggest what configuration could be missing which might be causing this short dump.

Trigger process chain in ABAP program

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to trigger the process chain from an ABAP program. I used the function module RSPC_API_CHAIN_START to trigger the process by passing the process chain name in 'I_CHAIN' and it worked. However, the client wants to trigger this using batch user name as few planners do not have authorization when they executed the custom transaction.
Based on the return code of the function module I am capturing the status for tracking.
Please suggest if there is any alternate solution to pass the user name while triggering a process chain in an abap program.

hi Chintai,
in bw side, you create a abap program to trigger an event in r/3,
and include this abap program in your process chain, the abap program like
CALL FUNCTION 'BP_EVENT_RAISE'
EXPORTING
eventid = 'ZRUNJOB_DEL'
and in r/3 schedule the program to delete previous data with 'after event',
the event name is same as raise by bw process chain, in this sample ZRUNJOB_DEL.

Trigger an ABAP program through a Process Chain

Hi,
I have an ABAP program as part of my Process Chain that updates the BW Hierarchy OREGH.
However I can't get the program to execute through the chain, even the though chains goes all green. without any REDS anywhere along the chain.
When I check if the program has made the desired changes in the tables it hasn't.
If I run the program using SE38 it works fine and in seconds.
Is there a parameter setting I have to set in the process chain or within the program itself.Tthe program is active.
Ive checked many of the posts about this issue but couldn't find a someone experiencing a similar problem.

Remove that ABAP program from the Process Chain and activate. Leave RSPC screen.
Re-enter to RSPC, and add that program by creating a new variant with following options:
Call Mode : Synchronous
Call From : Local
Check and Activate process chain.

ABAP Program Termination in Process Chain

in my process chains i have one abap program and it is getting dump while loading.
where can i check whether this program got terminated in this particular chain.
as i have many chains i am not able to check in each and every chain.
kindly let me know where to check the program termination in process chains.
do i have any chance to set an automatic process for checking the termination of the program.

Hi Ala,
If u know the process chain name, u can directly see log view of that process chain and right click on that failed ABAP program click "display mesaged". Now note down the error message and see that in st22.
If u dont know the process chain name..
In SM37 go to the job log for that pirticular job which is failed, it gives u tha program name and varient name.
now goto SE38 and give that program name and variant then click on display.It gives u process chain name.

ABAP Program in a Process Chain

I create a program in ABAP/4. The program modify an attribute of a Z table I have previously created.
I want to add that program in a process chain of BW which load a cube. The problem is that when I am in in the process chain, the program I have created doesn´t appear in the available programs to select and associate to the process chain.
What I have to do to have the ABAP program available to select and associate to the process chain?

Hello Nicolas, there are a few options you can try.
1. Instead of an ABAP program, would you think of incorporating your logic into a function module and then create a generic datasource in R/3 to extract the data from your Z table using the function module. There is a function module in R/3 called <b>RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE</b> that you can copy and use as a template for your function module. Refer to the following blog:

2. If you really want to use your ABAP program in R/3, then your best solution would be to create a job in R/3 that is triggered by an event. This job will have two steps in it.
Step 1: execute your ABAP program to fill your Z table
Step 2: execute program to notify process chain in BW that ABAP process is complete (sample source below)
In your process chain in BW, your ABAP process should be set up to be
Called From: (RFC destination of your R/3 system)
Scheduled Program: Event (event name in R/3)
You may get a help message about "Requirements for asynchronous processes". This is an informational message telling you that if you call an ABAP program from a remote system, there is no way for BW to monitor it, so you will have to execute a function module (RSPC_ABAP_FINISH) in the R/3 system to inform the process chain when the ABAP program finishes.   You can create your own program in R/3 to use this function module:

This program in R/3 will inform your process chain in BW that the ABAP process is finished and BW will continue to next process in the process chain.
Note:
p_rfc would be the RFC destination of your BW system
p_var would be the name of the ABAP process in your process chain

PI Interface Posting Files - Trigger Process Chain Issue

Dear Reader,
Situation -
We get multiple flat files from source system via PI interface. To process this in BW 7.0 side we have created the web service interface. In the function module we have written a code to trigger process chain, once a data is posted.
Issue -
As there are multiple files being posted, the PC runs on completion of the every single post, which is not desired. We need to run the process chain only once at the end of all the files being posted.
Notes -
1. Number of files keep varying.
2. Clubbing all the files in a single file and then posting it would cause performance issues.
Request your help in find a way like -
1. A file being posted of name, say 'START PC', which can be trapped in the funciton module and controll the PC call.
2. <any Other idea>

How to finish ABAP program in the process chains

Hello All,
we have one ABAP program in the process chains which was created in the BW system only.
this program we are using in the synchronous mode. according to my understanding we can not capture the failure of the ABAP program when it is in the synchronous mode.
but i found a way through one this forum topic to capture the failure of the program through asynchrous mode by calling a function module RSPC_ABAP_FINISH but it was with the R/3 program in BW.
can we use the same function module for BW program also.
kindly let me know what steps we need to follow for the BW program in the process chains to capture the failure status.

and than also an abap which can end red or green:
PARAMETERS: red RADIOBUTTON GROUP radi,
green RADIOBUTTON GROUP radi.
IF NOT green IS INITIAL.
MESSAGE i162(00) WITH 'Status' 'Green'.
ELSE.
MESSAGE e162(00) WITH 'Status' 'Red'.
ENDIF.
with i-message process ends green, with e-message process ends red.

Program Variant in Process Chain

Hi All,
I have to execute a program in a Process Chain. I have included a process variant to execute the program. Now, this program bring us to a screen, where we need to click on the execute button to run that program. I need to add a program variant for this i guess. Can any one give me the procedure how to do this?

The program that you have written should run in background.
We use Variants for ABAP programs to be run in the Process Chain
- Create an ABAP variant
- Choose call mode "Synchronous", Called from "Local". Thats mostly the default we use. choose according to your requirement.
- Choose "Program". Choose the program name & the variant n ame. Its better if you create the variant while testing the program in sa38. Later you can use the same variant in the Process Chain ABAp variant OR can create a new one. Set appropriate values.
Please note that if in SA38, your program ran successfully with the variant, it should run here as well.
That should do.

To create the program variant, first enter a name of your choice in the program variant field. Click Edit.
- Choose Create New
- Choose "Values". Click Change. In teh next screen, enter all the required parameters. Choose if its a SAP standard prog, or modified program.
- Check the attributes as well. It will usually choose selection screen 1000 as default. Let it be.

The background control options are available to directly schedule the start process. You can start the start process immediately , that is when activating the process chain, for a specified time, or after a particular event. When you activate the process chain, the start process is scheduled in the background as defined in your selections.
You can also trigger the start of a process chain via a meta chain. A meta chain is when a process chain, to which you set this start condition, is fixed to another process chain. The process chain is started directly by this meta chain.
When you start the start process via a meta chain, it is not scheduled after you activated the related process chain. The process is only started when the meta chain, to which it is linked, is running.
The remaining chain processes, that is the application processes and the collection processes, are scheduled to wait for an event.
The start process has the following special features:
Only the start process can be scheduled without a predecessor process.
The start process can not be a successor to another process.
Only one start process is allowed for each process chain.
One start process can only be used in an individual process chain

Trigger process chains from UNIX

I suggest to use the sapevt.exe.
With it you can trigger an event in the SAP system with the execution of a simple command file (.bat for ex.)
So the event will start the chain as you require.

1. U have to first check whats the reason for the failure. check in the monitor screen details button, the error message will be displayed, check the error, correct it. and to proceed with further right click on the subsequent process use Repeat option , the loads will get continue.
2. same here, if it fails check the reason, sometimes if two parallel process trying to access the same program Lock may occur, stop one process, once its done start the second process, use the transaction code SA38>select ur ABAP program, the corresponding variant->this is for running the ABAP program in the backgroud..if u want to run direct means Select the Process types Under the general services u find an ABAP program
3. same here too u should find the reason why it fails, and rectify the error, and use the repaet option to proceed with further.
