Update drivers from LabVIEW 9.5 to LabVIEW 14

Hi
I am getting crazy: i had a complete control system running properly in LabVIEW 8.5 and after updating it to LabVIEW 14, nothing works.
LabVIEW is not able find the drivers of the instruments integrated in a National Instruments PXI. I am using regular drivers as NiDCpower, NiSope, etc and common functions as niDCPower Close.vi or NiScope Close.vi
After installing LabVIEW 14, I have installed the packages referenced at http://www.ni.com/download/ni-device-drivers-february-2014/4634/en/
but my application is not able to find the drivers.... What can I do?

Previously I have installed partitions 1 and 2, I don't know why it is installing again distribution 2.
At the end of the set up, it breaks with the attached message
I had several complaints about the new distribution methods for these drivers, one of which is the incorrect message displayed when extracting.

    aspaceman,
Perhaps I owe you an apology.   Having re-read that downloading from HP was unsuccessful I feel uncomfortable.  Can I suggest you update your 10.6 system (as noted in your profile) to 10.6.8 (if it is not already there) by using the
Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 combo update plus any software updates that then apply.

    Hello DayTrader,
When you connect the printer and if the message continues to say "Waiting for Connection", please try the below step..
Go to Device Manager, ( to do so , Right click on Computer icon, Select Manage, from the left pance m click on Device Manager , which would display the Device Manager on right pane.)
There should be Yellow bang entries ( Yellow ! mark ) with printer name on it.
Right Click on each of them and select Update Driver.
Select "Browse my Computer for driver software "
Click on Browse button to point to the CD ( if you are using the CD to run the installation ) else copy the path where the drivers have been extracted if you had downloaded it. Usually it will be in folder with name starting 7z... under TEMP folder .
    Then Click Next button .

  • Where I can find documentation and updated drivers for Labview 3.1.1?

I'm running LabView 3.1.1 on a PowerMac 7600 and I have run into some difficulties geting it to work properly. The documentation has been lost and I cannot find it online anywhere. Any help with this and updated drivers would be greatly appreciated.

I have LV manuals going back to version 1. I still have a couple of systems operating in version 3 so I will not give up my manuals, but I may be able to help in some way. They are a set of eight books totalling about 6 inches thick. Is there something specific I may be able to help with?
A recent posting on this forum was from a museum of old computers and early LV systems. They were looking for stuff older than yours. I don't know if they could help or not.

  • I'm getting a cwinstr error after upgrading from labview 7.0 to labview 2010

    Hello
recently upgraged a PC from Labview 7.0 pro to Labview 2010 pro. Now I can not open a calibration executable we been using for a xantrex xfr power supply (unfortunately I don't have source code). The only error I get is "cwinstr-can't load program" pop-up when trying to run the executable. The calibration SW will run on multiple platfroms, Win 95, Win 200 0 and XP and this is the first time getting this error. The calibration SW ran fine until the Labview 2010 install. My question is does LV 2010 change the registry files when loaded? Visa and MAX still run fine on this PC and were loaded when LV 7.0 was installled. I know the calibration SW uses the VISA drivers so this is what's confusing. i don't want to downgrade back to LV 7.0  unless I have to.
    Thanks

    Hello Tanya,
I'm a little confused here. i only started having issues with the executable (it ran previously with the visa drivers from 7.0) after I loaded LV2010. After the install, the exectuable started giving me the cwinstr error. As best I can tell, this may be an activex issue, but since I only have the executable it hard to tell.
My question id do i have to install both labview 7.0 in addition to labview 2010 on the pc. Fom the the readme file, it looks like Labview 2010 won't support certain vi's older than 8.0. But since I'm dealing with an exectuable only here, I thought I  should be able to open it at least.
So instead of updating the visa drivers, should i re-install the old visa drivers (Ni-Max) for 7.0 instead? would this even work without removing LV2010.
    Thanks Again

  • Upgrade motion vi from Labview 7.1 to Labview 2013

Because we have to update our old Windows XP system with Labview 7.1 to a newer operating system, I tried to upgrade to Labview 2013.
The problem is that now our motion system( PXI realtime) doesn't run smooth anymore.
I generate a predefined position profile at 40Hz (This could be up to 3600s long = 144000 samples). In the loop which runs at 40Hz, the profile is corrected by a factor which is calculated every time based on a function using 2 analog input values.
Therefore I cannot use a predefined buffered contour function and adjust the velocity between 2 points so I get a smooth profile
The thing is that running this identical vi compiled with Labview 2013, it doesn't run well anymore (checked this with the interactive display on MAX, and it is very noticable.).
I this due to the old hardware, is the new Labview 2013 RT engine more demanding on the hardware ?
I have almost 2 identical systems (each having a PXI 8184 (850MHz celeron) controller, one with PXI 7340 motion controller and other with PXI 7344 motion controller).
I first want to have one system running well on the new software before I upgrade the other one.
I was thinking on changing my software to use the contour function together with the gearing function.
I would output the result of the function based on the 2 analog inputs to a analog output and use this voltage as gear input to superimpose the corrected profile.
It would be nicer to not having to reroute this value through a analog output and input but I haven't found any other solution for this.
Any help or suggestions to solve this are appreciated.

    Hello Thierry,
I have included a word document with 2 screenshots of the position & velocity from Interactive 1-D: one from the "old" Labview 7.1 system and one from the "new" Labview 2013 system. you can clearly see the difference, the input values for the motion-profile were identical.
I also include the MAX report for the Labview 2013 realtime controller.
The CPU usage for the "2013" PXI-8184 when not running is about 3%, when running its between 33% and 37%.
Memory use is about 60MB (of the 128MB).
If I run a vi on the 2013 hardware with a predefined trajectory (buffered) the motion is also smooth
Already thanks for looking into my problem

  • How to read and display a signal from my PIC Microcontroller onto Labview

    Hi,
I am doing a project on a Pulse Oximeter and i am trying to read and display the signal from my PIC Microcontroller on Labview? How do i go about doing it? I am using the PIC16F877 and also making use of the USART?
How do i implement and initialise the USART in PIC16? What are the steps to be taken, please guide me through the process? The link provides information regarding the USART connection, initialisting and stuff? Is it correct to use these codes in my program?Link: http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/AppNotes/00774a.pdf
Also, i am using the RS232 serial interface to connect to the PC? The connector i am using is the DB9 Connector. Which template and VI can i use? Am i supposed to use the NI-DAQmx and VISA? Also, for my USART connection, i am using the MAX232 Driver which is applicable for my application as i am working with +5V. So far, i have been reading and trying out on Labview and the steps i have taken are:
    1) Open a New VI and used the Instrument I/O(Read & Display) template?
    2) How do i configure the Instrument I/O Assistant Express VI to read the info from my device connected to COM1?
    3) I was reading the Labview Manual, 'Getting Started with Labview' and i was following the steps under Page 55, Communicating with an Instrument. Am i on the right track?
    4) How do i check and make sure that the port settings of the I/O Assistant and my PIC Micro Match
Please help me out and guide me through the process. I am student at a polytechnic and i am very new to Labview and the software is used as a development tool for the project. I have a deadline to meet and i hope i can get a response as fast as possible. Your help will be kindly and greatly appreciated. I hope to hear from you guys soon. You can e-mail me all your answers at [email protected]

Getting Started with Labview.pdf ‏901 KB

    Hi Ashwin,
I am not familiar with the PIC Microcontrollers, but I am assuming you mean that you have the microcontroller sending out serial data that you want to read on another computer with LabVIEW. Please let me know if this is incorrect.
What type of data is coming out of the serial port? Is it ASCII, or binary? The reason I ask this is that the serial communication in LabVIEW is done through a protocol called VISA, which uses ASCII data to send and receive. You can later convert this data into whatever form you need, but this is what it is designed to read and write.
You can check the settings such as baud rate and data bits in a configuration utility called Measurement and Automation Explorer, or MAX. When you open up the MAX interface, you can expand the Devices and Interfaces entry on the left, and then expand the Ports entry to see your serial port. When you highlight this port, select the Port Settings tab at the bottom of the window, and you can see what the current settings are, and change them if you need to. You can also set these parameters in LabVIEW using the VISA Configure Serial Port VI.
You can also test communication in MAX by right clicking on the correct port and choosing Open VISA Session. Then choose the Basic I/O light blue tab, and then go to the Read tab. When you click execute, it should read in what is coming from the serial port. This will allow you to verify that the correct information is coming in before even trying to acquire the data in the LabVIEW environment.
In LabVIEW, the best resource to use the Basic Serial Write and Read example program that ships with LabVIEW. By examining the block diagram of this program, you will be able to see the basic programming flow of serial communication in LabVIEW.
I hope this information was helpful! Please let us know if there's anything else we can help with.

  • UDP Error when upgrading from Labview 8.6 to Labview 2009

I recently updgraded from Labview 8.6 to Labview 2009. I am writing an application to stream data to disk from UDP. My VIs run just fine in Labview 8.6, but when I try to run them in Labview 2009 my UDP read times out despite being able to monitor UDP traffic and see that the data is being sent and nothing in the file is changed from 8.6 to 2009. Is there a known issue related to this?

How are you moniting the UDP traffic? Have you verified that the port you are trying to use is actually available? When you installed 2009 there may have been an additional service installed that may have used the port you're trying to use. If you're running on Windows you can use the command "netstat -n -o -a" to see all the ports that are currently in use, as well as the process ID that has that port open.

Checkout the LabVIEW ActiveX server interface in the User Manual in Chapter 20, Windows Connectivity and the VI Server Reference in Chapter 17, Programmatically Controlling VIs.
There is a sample for Visual Basic under examples/comm/VBtoLV.frm, which should be quite simple to translate to Visual C as long as you can figure out the basics of ActiveX programming in VC (I have never done anything with ActiveX in VC). For those basics I would recommend some text book or MSDN.
