Using sp_MSforeachtable in a SQL function.

I am trying to build a SQL function to return the KB size of all tables in a database. I am trying to use
sp_MSforeachtable inside the function. "Unresolved reference to [sys].[sp_MSforeachtable]." How do I
fix this?

sp_MSforeachtable is an undocumented command. Use it for fun and entertainment but not for production.

Using variables in PL/SQL function body returning SQL query

h4. okay so I have this procedure POSTCODE_TO_LAT_LNG_GM_API(postcode IN VARCHAR2, lat OUT NUMBER, p_long OUT NUMBER) to convert a postcode into lat/long values. I then need to add them to the returned SQL statement so I used the string concat operator || with to_char but it comes up with this error when I try to apply the changes: Query cannot be parsed within the Builder. If you believe your query is syntactically correct, check the ''generic column'' checkbox below the region source to proceed without parsing.
ORA-00936: missing expressionh4. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here I have tried so many different ways round and none seem to work!! :/

Okay so did a little playing around and eventually got it to work, the SQL Command didn't help with the function FYI (maybe something to do with it testing SQL statements and not PL/SQL?).
My 1st problem was that one of my columns relied on an apex text box which isn't always filled in so the SQL Compiler didn't like that. To solve this I did an IF NOT NULL, ELSE statement.
My 2nd problem was after I did that i didn't have a value for Distance in the ELSE statement and so APEX didn't know weather or not to add a Distance column. I solved this by making the distance column NULL.
Here is my final working code:

Error Using LISTAGG SQL Function

I'm trying to use the new LISTAGG SQL function with the following expression in a report:

and I get the following SQL error in Apex SQL Workshop:
ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected
Is this function enabled on the apex.oracle.com site? Am I using the correct syntax?

Using a custom PL/SQL to populate the primary key in a tabular form

I want to use a Custom PL/SQL Function to populate the primary key when I insert a new record into a tabular form. I want to get the value from a hidden page Item. The code I am using for the primary key source is:

Brian - Sometimes whitespace at the end of the block causes this. Be sure to trim everything after the last semicolon including tabs and newlines.

Pl/sql function body returning SQL query - Print function

Hello all,
I have pl/sql function body returning SQL query for my reports for my new project that I am developing. We dont have any BI tool or anything for APEX so we use Oracle reports to get the same reports to be printed in PDF format. I had been using SQL function for Reports all these days and grabbing the data using SQL query was easy in Oracle reports. But this time we had atleast 8 fields in search criteria and hence I thouhgt PL/sql function body returning SQL query could be something easy to handle that scenario. We have 11 such reports in our project. Now when we tried to use the same PL/sql function to oracle reports , I was told by one of our Oracle reports expert, that we have to write it into functions and use it in SQL query to get the Reports in Oracle reports. Is there any Easy way to convert the same Pl/SQL function or get a PDF format of the same report in APEX without going thru the much pains of rewriting the whole SQL Query.

PL/SQL Function in AIX

Let me get this straight,...
you have a PL/SQL functions which is a wrapper for the java program.
You don't want to use the PL/SQL function, but you want to call the java program directly using shell script.
And yet you post your question of the forum that is dedicated to SQL and PL/SQL ...

Totals of calculated field w/ PL/SQL function

I have a worksheet with a numeric field that is calculated using
a registered PL/SQL function. When I add totals to the sheet, no
total appears for this column. Is this a known issue, or is

I have the same problem. I used to work with Discoverer 4 and all the totals were there, but after the upgrade to 9.0.4 the totals for the calculated items that are based on stored procedures are gone. It has something to do with the procedures because the calculated items that do not call procedures do have the totals.
What is meant by the default setting of "Data point"? I cannot find anything like it in the administrator.....

Connection per SQL function

I am having problems with transactions when a connection is kept in session (long period of time).
if the user leaves the site, the connection could still be left open until the session expires.
anyone can help me in how to use one connection per SQL function and then returning back to the pool???

In your page or function, just open the connection, issue your SQL, and then close the connection.
Closing the connection releases it into the connection pool.

SQL report region source to call a pl/sql function using DB link

Hi - I have a pl/sql function fn_dbtype(id NUMBER) defined in database X. The pl/sql function executes couple DML statements and returns a string (a SELECT query). I am able to call this function using SQL Plus (Connected to Database X) as below and it works fine:

The DML operations completed fine and vSQL contains the "Select" query now.
In APEX:
I am trying to create a SQL report in APEX using SQL query(PL/SQL function returning a sql statement) option. I am trying to figure out what to put in the region source so that the output of the "Select" query is displayed in the report.
Moreover APEX is hosted in a different database instance. So I would need to call this pl/sql function using a DB Link.
Please let me know what I need to put in the region source to execute the pl/sql function which returns the "Select" query thereby displaying the query output in the report. Thanks.

Problem to create a link with parameters using a PL/SQL function body

I need some help to create a link on a SELECT statement.
I have a region report with type "PL/SQL function body return SQL query".
I would like to use a link using HTML tag <a href>.
I know how to do the link, but I don't know to pass a parameters in <a href> statement.

Your code is in a default value for an item, right?
You need to make sure :P33_YEAR is not null and handle the error in the PL/SQL if it is.
How is P33_YEAR populated? do you pass it in? check to see if it is making it there..

I have a question,
if I have a pl/sql function that returns a boolean value, how can I use
it directly in a select statement?
I can easily do this if the function returns a number value , e.g.
select * from my_table where my_package.function('abc') = 1;
But I can't figure out how to do this if the function return a boolean.
Any idea other than creating another function?

BOOLEAN is not a SQL datatype - you can only reference Boolean values in PL/SQL.

I tried and getting the same error. don't know why!!
However, There is another way of accomplishing it.
You can add a "Mapping Input Parameter" to your mapping and in the default value field call the function "Get_Last_Update_date". Then add the output field from this operator to the filter operator. Then edit the filter condition to replace the function call with output value from the Input parameter operator.
This should work...

Unable to retreive the return value of pl/sql function using DB Adapter
