1041N-A-K9 help in doing some basic setup

Hi,
I'm new with setting up CISCO AP, I'm used to GUI and that's what I'm using to set this AP. How my network set is :
ISP Modem/Router (disable radio and set it where DHCP start at 192.168.15) ----> CISCO SG300-28P (Set static IP, upgrade fimware) ----> CISCO 1041N AP (Set static IP, 12.4 firmware).
I have 50mbps down and 25mbps upload speed from ISP, when using their router radio...speedtest.net showed just exactly that...but when using the 1041, I get half of it. It also seems that the GUI is rather slow and stubborn, often it doesnt save settings I selected and rather confusing to use, as the express setup is nothing like "express", you need to go to many different setting to get the radio up. Like it wont allow me to use WPA encryption without RADIUS...I dont have any RADIUS server (I can set up RADIUS with my Synology NAS...but is it really neccesary?)
...also the DNS....DHCP is controlled by the ISP router.
Anyway my question :
1) I've been looking for tutorial to set this AP through GUI and mostly is in CLI...how do you enable WMM for one?
2) This AP doesnt seems to perform as well as the integrated radio, what is so special about this AP beside the CLI for advanced config?
3) I'm planning to use another bran AP in conjuction with this AP, planning to use the same SSID and password...do I need to set them using different channels? I have 2.4ghz phone also, which channels should I choose?
4) I set the AP with static IP, the router provide DHCP service....is there any setting where I should be disable the DHCP service on the AP?
My plan is to get a secure, fast and stable service...that is why I choose this setup...but it's been a time consuming just to set this AP to do basic stuff. The Ubiquiti AP I've set before, just took me 15-30 min to set....this?It's been 6-12 hours with medicore performance...

I'm still no where with the CLI atm, tried to upgrade the firmware through HTTP and the pop up just saying :

The system is upgrading the software and restarting. This should take between 5 and 15 minutes depending on your network speed. Do not interrupt the upgrade or attempt to access other web pages on the AP during this process.
time elapsed been leaving it all night....the firmware is not updated yet....am I doing something wrong? (disable radio, access the AP with IE and system software, upgrade...find the new firmware and hit install)

Help on doing some extensions for a firewire/USB header/bracket

Hi,
I own an MSI 845PE Max2 motherboard. This motherboard comes with several brackets for USB, Firewire and Audio. As I can't waist that much PCI slots in order to use the brackets, and as those ports would be much easier to use if they were on the front of the case, I thought of modifying one of the 5,25" bays cover of my full tower case (Dragon DA-01BD) to hold all the ports on those brackets.
Unfortunatelly the cable length of those brackets isn't enough to reach the 5,25" bays, so I have to extend those cables. In order to do that I have to find similar cables/connectors, and that is where my problem lies.
In order to show those connectors, I took a picture and made it available on the web, so that you can see it:
According to a person that I spoke to, these are IDC connectors.
Here's a description of each connector, from left to right:
- Firewire (green, 10 pins)
- USB 1 (black, 10 pins)
- USB 2 (blue, 10 pins)
- Audio (black, 12 pins)
Each connector has one disabled (covered) pin.
In terms of size, each connector is aproximatelly 1 cm wide (the sound connector is a few millimeters wider).
My question would be where can I buy this, but as I'm from Portugal and most of you are not, it would be rather expensive to order this thing outside my country.
So what I would like to ask is if do you know any reference for those connectors. I'm looking for both male and female connectors, as I want to leave the cable/connectors of the brackets intact (no modifications), meaning that I want to create an extension with a male on one tip and a female on the other tip of the extension cable.

You might be able to get longer cables from a computer wholesaler (usually via a retail store), but it's doubtful.
The connectors in the photo are a variation on a "Molex" connector. They come as an empty housing, with separate pins (supplied on a strip), which can either be soldered to the cable, or crimped with an expensive tool. The pins are then pushed into the housing in the right places. I use the single row types, but I've never tried to buy the dual row types in Australia.
The closest readily available connector is usually called an IDC Socket, and is designed to be used with ribbon cable (these are used on CD-ROM drive connections, for example). They can be fitted with a bench vice if you are careful, but they don't usually come in 12-way (10 ways are common, so are 16 ways, with 14 way less common).
The main problem is the male connectors - they don't make male connectors designed for cable mounting. The closest you'll get is a header designed for PCB mounting, which you'll have to solder wires to individual pins, and then wrap in insulation tape.
Try a shop which sells electronic components to hobbyists - whatever the Portuguese equivalent of Tandy / Radio Shack (or preferably a cheaper version!).

Storage rules for an editing rig. Some basics.

How do you set up your editing machine in terms of disks for maximum performance and reliability? (SSD's are left out here.)
This is a question that often arises and all too often one sees that initial settings are really suboptimal. These rules are intended to help you decide how to setup your disks to get the best response times. Of course the only disks in an editing machine must be 7200 RPM types or faster. No GREEN disks at all.
Rule 1: NEVER partition a disk. You may ask why? First of all, it does not increase disk space, it just allocates the space differently. However, the major drawback is that for a partitioned disk the OS must first access a partition table at the beginning of the disk for all accesses to the disk, thus requiring the heads to move to the beginning of the disk, then when it has gotten the partition info move to the designated area on the disk and perform the requested action. This means much more wear-and-tear on the mechanics of the disk, slower speeds and more overhead for the OS, all reducing efficiency.
Rule 2: Avoid using USB drives, since they are the slowest on the market. Do not be tricked by the alleged bandwidth of USB 2.0 advertisements, because is just is not true and remember that the alleged bandwidth is shared by all USB devices, so if you have a USB mouse, keyboard, printer, card reader or whatever, they all share the bandwidth. Stick to SCSI or SATA disks or e-SATA. If needed, you can use Firewire-800 or even Firewire-400 disks, but they are really more suited for backups than for editing.
Rule 3: Use at least 3 different physical disks on an editing machine, one for OS/programs, one for media and one for pagefile/scratch/renders. Even on a notebook with one internal drive it is easy to accomplish this by using a dual e-SATA to Express card connector. That gives you an additional two e-SATA connections for external disks.
Rule 4: Spread disk access across as many disks as you have. If you have OS & programs on disk C:, set your pagefile on another disk. Also set your pagefile to a fixed size, preferably somewhere around 1.5 times your physical memory.
Rule 5: Turn off index search and compression. Both will cause severe performance hits if you leave them on.
Rule 6: If the fill rate on any of your SATA disks goes over 60-70% it is time to get a larger or an additional disk.
Rule 7: Perform regular defrags on all of your disks. For instance, you can schedule this daily during your lunch break.
Rule 8: Keep your disks cool by using adequate airflow by means of additional fans if needed. You can use SMART to monitor disk temperatures, which should be under 35 degrees C at all times and normally hover around 20-24 C, at least in a properly cooled system.
Rule 9: If people want raid, the cheapest way is to use the on-board IHCR or Marvell chip, but it places a relatively high burden on the CPU. The best way is a hardware controller card, preferably based on the IOP348 chip. Areca ARC and ADAPTEC come to mind. 3Ware uses it's own chipset and though not bad, they are not in the same league as the other two. Promise and the like in the budget range are no good and a complete waste of money. Expect to spend around $ 800 plus for a good controller with 12 connectors internally and 4 e-SATA connectors. Important to consider in a purchasing decision is whether the on-board cache memory can be expanded from the regular 256/512 MB to 2 or even 4 GB. Be aware that 2 GB cache can be relatively cheap, but the 4 GB version extremely costly ($ 30 versus $ 300). For safety reasons it is advisable to include a battery backup module (BBM).
Rule 10: If you can easily replace the data in case of disk failure (like rendered files), go ahead and use raid0, but if you want any protection against data loss, use raid 3/5/6/10/30/50. For further protection you can use hot spares, diminishing downtime and performance degradation.
In general when you get a new disk, pay close attention to any rattling noise, do perform regular disk checks, and in case of doubt about reliability, exchange the disk under guarantee. Often a new disk will fail in the first three months. If they survive that period, most of the disks will survive for the next couple of years. If you use a lot of internal disks like I do (17), set staggered spin-up to around 1 second to lessen the burden on the PSU and improve stability.

Here are my assumptions and constraints:
I only have 6 bays for the Installation - and working RAID;
For the video RAID I also would like to reuse an enclosure, which just has 6 bays;
I would need to buy a NAS enclosure - so here I am open minded and just assumed 8 bays;
the usable storrage I estimated as 80% of the total storage;
discs, which are used heavily should be SCSI or SAS - I am thinking of the Cheetah 15K
Looking into the cost associated, I hit 4000€ easily just for discs. Ok, I can reuse some discs and enclosures, which I have here - but since I need to purchase the NAS enclosure (with 8 bays), which will also cost 1000€ additional, I will use 25% of my foreseen budget for storage.

Cannot store basic setups on Camileo S10 and P30

Hello, first post for me. I had a Camileo S10 and changed it with a Camileo P30, and on both camera I cannot save some basic setups. I have to set them every time a use the camera. For example,if I activate the stabiliser in 720P, than a shoot a video, than a close the camera, than 5 min later I have to ashoot another video, I always have to go to settings and re-setup stabiliser on, as this setting do not remain stored while the 720p setup stay stored. Same for photo shooting, where light conditions and so on have to be setup every time. This is very annoying, and I cannot ask my son to do not move for a picture, if every time I open the camera I have to redo the setups... Do I do something wrong here? Is there a way to save the setups, like in most of the normal camera and camcorder?

Yes, I know the stabiliser can be set only with 720p, but here I refer also to normal basic camera settings, like light, expositions and so on. They have to be set every time you open the camera. Imagine you are in a party one evening and every picture you take, youhave to reset the camera from scratch, exposure, night setup, tungsten filament light... these settings are not "remembered" by the camera... On the contrary date and time are properly stored. I really hope this will be solved in a firmware updates...

My mac book pro does not boot up correctly anymore after doing some updates. I did have my ipod charging to my mac book. I ran the simple updates and never go to the maverick update and now my computer will not boot correctly. Help!

Please help my computer is not repsonding after doing some simple updates. I follow the instructions and which is simply click for the update to take place. I did what I was instructed to do. I did not do the new update for the Mavericks yet. I just did simple updates. The computer shutted down and restarted but would never get pass the grey screen with the spinning wheel and the booting bar that would not go past a certain point befor shutting off again. The computer is practically brand new. I purchased the computer from best by 2012 and the warrenty just ended the past October. I hardly use the computer maybe 4 times since I have had it because I have another main computer that I uses. However, I don't want to do a hard rest becuase I do have the entire adobe suits software that I paid for and don't want to loose. I have an appointment with apple today to see what they say but I hope that my computer that I hardly every use is not defected after doing a updated pushed by Apple. Any thoughts or suggestions???? Well, I was at Apple for sometime on that day. I got a Genius that did not want to work. She basically jumped to the money to tell me that my hard drive was no good and that I was out of warranty (October 2013). I began to explain to her that I had only used the computer 5 times and that I don't use this computer as my main computer because I also have a Toshiba that is less expensive that I have had for several years and not one issue out of it. The rep told me that I could by a new hard drive for $161.00 and that I would loose all of my software and photos that I have on this computer. However, I told her that it's bazaar that it happens right after my warranty goes out and had I used it more often when in warranty before October then I would have been covered. Keeping in mind that I would still be very disappointed with the product because I would loose all of my information and it would not make sense to me why the hard drive fails on a very gently used computer. So I asked for a manager and it took her some time to get one. In the mean time I watched how the other Geniuses interacted with the other customers and seen that they were very engaging with convo and very help. I guess I just I got another lemon when I got my rep. When the manager finally came. I went from A-Z with the issues and that I felt that something could or should be done because the rep said that she did tests on my machine and it read to her that my hard drive was bad and there was nothing that could be done. I explained that I was not looking forward to paying for services to have my new computer repaired. The manager offered to give me 25% off the cost but I still didn't feel that it was effective. After he left and the rep wrote the notes in the system, I told her that I didn't think that all options had been exhausted and that there was something else that could be done. I told her to erase the machine and see if the updates could be installed and if the system would continue to do the same thing. The rep was hesitant and said that I would loose everything which we already know that we were at conclusion from the beginning. She assured me that I would happen again and that I would need a new hard drive. I just told her to erase the machine and get me another manager because I was just getting tired of her unhelpfulness and negative perspective. The new manager came and was very pleasant and I explained everything once again from A-Z. I informed him that I had the machine erased and that I need his help with options because I don't feel that the rep or the last manager was resourceful or helpful. He apologies for the actions of the reps and proceed to tell me that they will run all the updates in the store and that if it booted correctly that I should continue to use the machine with out adding the adobe software back on just incase that it crashes again and I'm out of money once again. However, if it does happen again and it is a hard drive issues that he would work with me to resolve the issues. As my computer went through the process of rebooting from out of the box stage another rep approached me because he could tell that I was upset and not happy. I told he what had happen and he said I think I can help you a little more. He said that I just want to run further testing on you computer for different components to make sure that everything would work properly and pin point any issues. I was delighted with that option. Anything would help at this time especially someone who is willing to help. The first test that he ran was to for the hard drive and he said that since it failed the test the first time could be because the software update glitch and did update correctly which would make the test faulty and be negative. As I sit with finger crossed the test came back as a pass test that my hard drive was not the issue and that the update was the cause and that I did not have to buy a new hard drive. I was happy that the computer was ok but I lost information. All of the updates were done in the store and everything works fine now. If I was not persistent about my gut feeling then I would had left out thinking that I had to pay for a new hard drive that I really didn't needed. Now I can invest that money in a external hard drive to start backing up my information. Lesson learned by I'm still on the fence about things but I hope all is well. I really went through a lot. No help or no service was not an option that I was taken. I hope that it helps.

Some basic questions: Help defining Real World Classes

I am trying to write a small applet using proper OO concempts and Java technique and I'm confused on the proper way to do this. I think I know several ways that work and have all the peices I need such as JMail and JDBC drivers, but would appreciate help on understanding how to properly structure my classes and objects.
The application will simply do the following: I have a database table that receives a new entry when a truck is late for its delivery. When this new record is created, I need to send an email to the driver manager who will then decide (via a jsp page) whether the customer should receive an email about the late delivery. For each truck, there will only be one driver manager and one client to be notified.
What I'm confused about is what classes and objects to create (and why). My first thought is to create a LateTruck class, a DriverManager class and a Customer class and have the LateTruck class call up the DriverManager to send an email then have the JSP page reinstantiate the LateTruck and instantiate the Customer class to send the email to the client.
If I do it this way, is there a proper way to send the email? Do I send the email as a method in LateTruck which gets the email address from DriverManager such as
LateTruck.Order1234.SendEmail(DriverManager.JoeBlow.Email)
or do I use LateTruck to write the email message which I then pass to DriverManager such as
DriverManager.JoeBlow.SendEmail(message)
Should I even break up the applet into three classes and objects? Since each LateTruck only needs one DriverManager and one Client, is the proper way to do this to create only one class called LateTruck which has DriverManager, DriverManagerEmail, ClientName and ClientEmail all as properties of LateTruck?

Some basic help in Threads

I have some basic problem regarding use of thread.I have a class A (with main method )which creates 5 instance of class B say b1,b2,b3,b4,b5.This class B extends thread.
Now within main of A i spawn 5 thread by calling b1.start(),b2.start(),b3.start(), b4.start(),b5.start().
Now contraint is at any time A can spawn only 5 threads.For this there is another class C that has private variable count and 3 synchronised method one which increments count , second one decrements count,third one returns count and same instance of this class is pass to each of the thread.
Before terminating each thread calls decrement method of this object .
After spawning 5 thread main thread sleeps for some defined time and whenever it wakes up it checks if count is less than 5 if yes then it spawns new thread and call increment method.
Now i want to avoid the logic of main thread sleeping for some defined time than waking up checking value of count and rather want a logic in which main thread sleeps and wakes up only when one of the thread terminates.Thus unnecessary checking of value of count is avoided.
There must be way for this because this is very common problem which many of you might have faced.I have simplified by problem because this is one of the concept on which design of my application depends.If any one has found some tutorial or code example which describes similar problem then kindly let me know.

HELP: I can't anymore activate some basic Adobe extensions

My configiration : mac OS 10.6.8 + Adobe Indesign CS6
After trying to desactivate some 3rd-party, I can't anymore activate some basic Adobe extensions (see screen below) which were activated before.
When I try to click on Activate box, I doesn't do work!
I can I get back to ALL adobe extensions acivated? Is there a preference Adobe extension manage file somewhere I can delete?

Note that you're getting a fairly dumbed-down view of the whole virus issue so far. People like to play word games with this topic. It's important to understand that malware does exist for the Mac, so that you don't let a false sense of security behave in dangerous ways. Of course, there's been several orders of magnitude less malware released for the Mac in the last 10 years than appears for Windows every day, on average, so you'll probably never see any malware... but it's still possible. Also, regarding whether the stock 13" MBP has enough memory for you, it is impossible to answer accurately without knowing what you plan on doing with your computer. Q1. Do I need to have an R/3 System to be able to practice OR demo the SCM system?
Q2. If, yes, which version of SCM is compatible with the ECC 5.0?
Q3. What are the basic requirements to install SCM (version compatible with ECC 5.0) and ECC on a oracle db and windows OS?
Q4. Does SCM have APO and BI as an inbuilt functionality OR does the user need to purchase these as an Add-On?

---> There are various Modules in SCM Like APO (Sub Modules DP (stand alone), SNP Needs Master data from R/3 and has to pass on transactional Data to R/3, PPDS same as SNP, GATP same as SNP), ICH needs Data from R/3 to work with. Core Interface (CIF) connects R/3 to APO for transferring data.
Q2. If, yes, which version of SCM is compatible with the ECC 5.0?

--> APO comes with a small BI inbuilt functionality. you can only perform certain functions using that BI.

hi all,
i am fresher working in OA framework...
i have some basic doubt please clear them
1.
v get some parameters for the pages...what is that v get as a parameter.. in the navigated page we give this as URL...

&employeeNumber={@EmployeeId}
now what is this EmployeeId ..is this a VO attribute????or a page parameter..i guess it is VO attribute.. just clarify me this...

how to assaign a VO attribute value to other VO attribute..
i mean how to fetch the value of a VO attribute
and assaign a value to VO attribute...
can i use ..******VORowImpl class for this...can please tell me the syntax to fetch
current vo attribute (say employee id).

how to perform the arthemetic operations on VO attributes...
like if i can calculate them by fetching there values and assigning them to local varaibles and storing the result to transient attribute...using set parameter???
can i do this way??
4.i have page table layout region and i have many rows in that ...i have a column say xyz now i want the sum of all xyz in all rows ...is that possible ..if it is how..????
please help me out in this issues...so that i can proceed further with my work..im stuck otu here....if the solution r there in the devguide please tell me where it is ..i mean under which section...bcoz it 1400page document...

Yes, the devguide is 1400 pages long, but most of the sections section titles are self-explanatory.

Missing some basic functionality

I seem to be missing some basic functionality, like switching to tty1-n using Ctrl+Alt+F1-n. I can't begin to guess what this is related to, as after several installs I've never experienced that to be missing. Can anyone point me in the right directions? Thanks.

The Apple techs are looking. But they can't find it. Nor can they find a back up on my laptop, Evidently when I backed up my Iphone to computer the calendar wasn't syncing. Since I only use the calander on my phone - I never noticed.
The Apple store rep that sold me the I-Phone 5 on Monday, was transferring my contacts and calendar thru I-Cloud (I never used I-Cloud before that moment - and always had it turned off). He successfully transferred the contacts - which are still on my phone), but the Calendar weirdly split into 6 calendars (2 of which were linked to my G-Mail which only had a few entries) (4 were linked to my MSN / Hotmail email and contained all the major events/data). I never created calendars that were separate or liked them to 2 different emails. I just typed entries into the I-Phone calendar. However, the calendar did exist on the new I-Phone for 24 hours. Something happened during transfer. When the Apple Genius Bar tech was attempting to back up my Calendar & merge the 6 calendars, everything disappeared in his hand while he was looking at it.
I am hoping that some really good data recovery expert exists that can restore the calendar that was in both I-Phones yesterday. It is completely devastating if I can't recover it.
Any help, or referrals, is great appreciated!!!!
