11g Move Repository Schema to New Database

Hi folks
There is a possibility that I will need to move the 11g repository schema from one database to another. Has anyone performed this and can offer any tips?
Regards
Paul

Thanks chaps...
At the moment this is still a 'what if' problem for my client. I am gathering as much information as I can before they decide whether to go ahead.
Daan, I can't believe Oracle won't support this - that's crazy. There will be hundreds of customers who will need to perform such a move. I think I will raise a SR to see if they will provide me the manual steps.
Saichand, nice idea. I will look and see what I can find. Glad to hear you like the blog - it's always nice to know people are reading it!

  • Copy whole schema to new database

Hi...what is ther best way to copy whole schema (25GB) to new database.
    Thanks

    Hello,
Best way is to use either conventional export/import or datapump.
    exp system/password owner=userA file=userA.dmp log=userA.log
Note: Make sure tablespace, any special roles or db-link exists before importing or cloning schema
imp system/password fromUser=userA toUser=userA file=userA.dmp log=userAimport.logSee following link for more infomation and examples to use datapump

  • Can't move FederatedEmail mailbox to new database

I've searched other related threads but cannot locate the problem. I've recently moved all of our mailboxes out of the default mailbox and into 4 smaller db's. All the user mailboxes are moved, as well as Discovery and SystemMailboxes. But I cannot
get the FederatedEmail arbitration mailbox to move. Also, how many SystemMailboxes should I have? I noticed it reports I have more than one, but not one per database.
It seems to be barking about the default quota limit in the destination database, which is set to 1GB/1.25GB/1.5GB. However, it reports the size of the arbitration mailbox as being 1MB but it still says the target quota is 1MB. What am I missing?

    Hi
Open up that federated mailbox in AD.
Clear the Attributes on the account as per below:
    mDBOverHardQuotaLimit
    mDBOverStorageQuota
    mDBUseDefaults
    Try move the mailbox.

  • How to move a schema from one database to another on ASM?

    Hi All
I have a schema in database A on ASM and I want to move the complete schema to database B on ASM . Both databases are on RAC and on the same server.
Please tell me the steps how to do it or if there is a script to do it.
    Thank you.

There is nothing special which you need to do for ASM instance. In this case too, you will be required to use export/import utility to do the same.
    Cheers

  • Not able to connect to APPS schema in 10g database after upgradation

We have upgraded our database from 9.2.0.6 to 10.2.0.1(E-Business suite database). We have upgraded our database using dbua and it was succesful(No invalid objects are there in the databe). Now we are trying to connect using apps username but it is not recognising the username. How do we link the old database schema with new database?

    Hi,
Could you please elaborate "You should make sure that all referenced in the context files point to the new ORACLE_HOME and that AutoConfig complete successfully".This is covered in the same upgrade document (See "Step 26. Implement and run AutoConfig" for details).
I think you are referring the context file to xml file which contains parameters like "s_dbdomain". I think mistake lies at this point. Not only this variable, I am referring to any variable which points to the old 9i ORACLE_HOME. But, again this makes no sense if you cannot find the APPS schema in the upgraded database!

  • Move HR schema from 11g to 10g

I have oracle 10g installed on my sun box and I have oracle 11g installed on my other system. I would like to know how to move HR schema from 11g to my 10g.
please advise me in steps as I am new to oracle.

    Ok, didn't know that.
Why not take the file from your 11g installation and run it against your 10g?
If you don't want ro do that, you can use CTAS over dblink or look into COPY command from SQL*Plus.

  • TS datafile  to move to new database

    Hi Folks,
I have a datafile of my tablespace that contained all tables of my schema.
Say it was in Database "ORAPRDB"
Now when i just want to move this schema to a new database so I copied the datafile to a new database "TESTDB" recreate the control files and try to bring up the instance.
But this is complaining of the datafile not belonging of the right database. (possibly it is looking for ORAPRDB when I am trying to plug it in TESTDB ).
Is there a way to get this done.
I know there is a transportable tablespace functionality in 9i .. but In this case .. I do not think I will be able to use this.
    TIA
    Sunil Choudhary

    Hello,
You don't mention from which version to which version you are transporting your tablespace and is this transportation is cross platform. Beacuse cross platform transformation is started with 10g only. Also remember these points :
The source and target database must use the same character set and national character set.
You cannot transport a tablespace to a target database in which a tablespace with the same name already exists. However, you can rename either the tablespace to be transported or the destination tablespace before the transport operation.
Objects with underlying objects (such as materialized views) or contained objects (such as partitioned tables) are not transportable unless all of the underlying or contained objects are in the tablespace set.
For complete information follow this link and read the related section of Tablespace Transportation:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/tspaces.htm#sthref1267

  • TNS Protocol error in 11g when creating a new database

  • How can I import schema to a different tablespace in a new database?

    Hi,
I want to transport a schema "abc", which is on 'USERS" tablespace in the old database, to a new database using Data Pump. But on the new server, I want it on a different tablespace, say "TEST". How can I do that? I tried the following but it does not work:
    1. Create a user "abc" on new database, assign "TEST" as its default tablespace;
    2. use impdp to import the dmp file;
I found that on the new server, the imported tables are still on the "USERS" tablespace.
Can anyone tell me how to do it? thanks a lot.

    Use the REMAP_TABLESPACE option:
    REMAP_TABLESPACE = source_tablespace:target_tablespace

  • Migrating reports to new database schema

    Hi,
My company has numerous Crystal Reports .RPT files that work against the existing database schema, but we are moving to a new database with a significantly different schema.
Rather than have to manually recreate new RPT files for all the reports, it would be nice if it would be possible to automate the process.
I have looked through the documentation for the various Java APIs and am completely confused as to whether this is possible and, if so, the best way to do it.
    Any help would be appreciated.
