11ginstall.sh  and Oracle 11.2 RDBMS media

Hello
I would lik to install an SAP ECC 5.0 system Linux(last Red Hat)/Oracle (we have to move there existing system on Alpha TRU64 in order to upgrade it)
The wish is to install Oracle 11 supported by 640_EX2 kernel.
I went through notes
: Note 1431800 - Oracle 11.2.0: Central Technical Note
Note 1524205 - Oracle 11.2.0: Database Software Installation(and subnotes)
I am in doubt i can install RDBMS only with 11ginstall.sh (attached to note 1524205).
I already downloaded ORACLE RDBMS 11.2 LINUX  x86_64 64 bit Media from SAP Marketplace but the hotes are really confusing me (is ./Runninstaler not ok for Oracle 11?)
Thank you in advance for your help

Hi,
You have to do ORACLE Software Installation through RUNINSTALLER only.
As it mention in Note Script 11ginstall.sh
Description: '11ginstall.sh' is the main script behind RUNINSTALLER and RUNINSTALLER_CHECK. This script supports installation in response file mode (interactive) and silent mode, it generates the response file and starts the Oracle installer. For help on 11ginstall.sh, run the command

  • Extraction of data from Planning and load it into Oracle/SQL server (RDBMS)

    Hi All,
    ODI can extract data from Oracle/SQL server RDBMS and load it into Hyperion planning, but I wanted to know if it is possible to extract data from Hyperion Planning through ODI and load it into Oracle or SQL server RDMBS i.e the other way round.
    Kindly let me know if that is possible or not,If yes then please let me know what is the exact process to achieve this through ODI.
    Thanks & Regrads,
    Gurpreet

    Yes this can be done. Remember that Planning data is actually stored in Essbase so the Knowledge module you will need to use is LKM Essbase to SQL (DATA)

  • Oracle Forms 9i and Oracle RDBMS 8

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me whether Oracle Forms 9i will work against an Oracle 8 database?
    We have an older version of Oracle Forms (Oracle Developer 6i) that I could also try against Oracle 8 but I'm concerned about conflicts with on the client-side with Oracle Enterprise Manager 9i and Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g (I have these installed already).
    My organization does NOT intend to upgrade the Oracle 8 production database to a newer release. And yes, we have Oracle 9i and 10g RDMBS in production as well.
    Thanks.

    I, too, am a little confused. I will be loading Oracle 9i DB Personal Edition on to a Windows XP Professional, Pentium IV. I read in forums that 9i Personal is certified for this particular system whereas 6i Personal Edition is not. Is Forms and Reports 6i certified for XP Professional? If so, can I run 6i w/ the 9i Personal Edition? I am considering purchasing Oracle 9i Developer Suite, but only if it is certified for XP Pro and 6i isn't.
    Please advise.

  • Problem with Linus Ubuntu 7.04 and Oracle-Xe debian package

    Hi all,
    Installed Oracle 10g XE on my Ubuntu 7.04 using universal Debian Package : oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.0_i386.deb. No problem during the installation . After finished the installation, I configured the database to use port 6000 and its password (Listener port set to default).
    But when I tried to access the database home page using "http://127.0.0.1:6000/apex", it cannot be accessed. Then I tried to verify my database server using /etc/init.d/oracle-xe status and here's the output:(before it, I make user the database was realy online by typing /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start)

    Thanks

    Hi Tarek,
    I hope you might have resolved this issue by now.
    Solution:
    This issue seems that you have not given the correct path of the "Oracle Client" which will be 10.0G, rather giving the oracle software location of Oracle 11.2G. You need to download Oracle client 10G from marketplace from the same place where you have downloaded the master DVD installation media and provide this path.

  • Compare SQL Server and Oracle syntax

    Hello, I am very new to the Oracle DB as I have been working with MS SQL Server for many years. I have a SQL statement that works fine in MSSQL but seems to not work in Oracle. Is this a syntax problem or do I need to look elsewhere?
    DECLARE @as_master_key varchar(26)
    EXEC [dbo].[GET_UNIQUE_MASTER_KEY]
         @as_project_name = N'CMDEMO',
         @as_database_site = N'CMPL',
         @as_user_initials = N'SK',
         @as_table = N'SUBMITTAL_CATEGORY',
         @as_master_key =
         @as_master_key
    OUTPUT SELECT @as_master_key as N'master_key'
    This is what I use in MSSQL and it works fine - but I am porting this application to an Oracle backend and it fails. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance to this newbie. :)

    SQL Server and Oracle are two completely different RDBMS'.
    You'd be best not to try and port SQL Server code to Oracle SQL or PL/SQL directly as it will not favour the power of Oracle's features correctly.
    I'm not sure what your code is supposed to be doing (I find SQL Server code awful to read, and never understand the need for "@" before variable names, that just seems to show a lazy parser (or lazy coder who designed the parser)).
    From what I can guess it's going to be something like...
    SQL code...
    create or replace sequence my_master_key;PL/SQL code...
    DECLARE
      as_master_key number;
      as_project_name varchar2(20) := 'CMDEMO';
      as_database_site varchar2(20) := 'CMPL';
      as_user_initials varckar2(5) := 'SK';
      as_table varchar2(30) := 'SUBMITTAL_CATEGORY';
    BEGIN
      select my_master_key.nextval
      into as_master_key
      from dual;
      -- In 11g you could replace this select with just:
      -- as_master_key = my_master_key.nextval;
    END;This get's a unique sequence value into a variable and declares all the other variables. What you want to do with them after that I don't know.

  • Connection Errors between Oracle 8 Client and Oracle 8.1.6 EE

    Our current application has been developed using PowerBuilder 6.5 and Oracle 8.1.5. Since PB 6.5 does not have a "native driver" for 8.1.5, we have used their driver for Oracle 8.0.5 for Net8 connectivity to the server. Everything works fine.
    Recently, I downloaded the current version of Oracle 8.1.6 EE from Technet to try out the compatibilty of our software with the next version of 8I, it failed. The error seems to be somewhere between the 8.0.5 Oracle Client Software and the downloaded Oracle 8.1.6 EE Server software. Some how we have lost the ability to declare cursors. I tried declaring a cursor in a procedure through SQL*Plus and it failed their as well. I have even tried the Oracle 8.0.6 Client, with same results.
    Has anyone seen this? If so, what should I do?
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Two-task common errors are generally RDBMS related issues, but could be caused by a problem with SQL*Net, or an application (i.e. Pro*C).
    ORA-03106
    ======== Possible reasons for the ORA-03106 errors include:
    1. Incompatibilities between the client application and the RDBMS server.
    For example, version incompatibilities, or a client trying to use a feature not supported by the database kernel.
    2. When using database links or gateways.
    3. Network or SQL*Net problems.
    4. Corruptions.
    5. PL/SQL - language related.
    check the NLS_LANG variable on the client and server.

    Hello,
    now this message is pretty obvious. So the needed information would be:
    ls -ld /oracle/QAA/102_64/rdbms/admin
    ls -ld /oracle/QAA/102_64/rdbms/admin/log
    ls -ld brtools
    id
    and then compare if the user executing brtools has appropiate rights.
    Most likely you did not run saproot.sh so brtools might not be set suid to oraqaa
    and you are executing as qaaadm.
    Best regards

  • It’s compatible OWB 9.0.4.10 with W2003 and Oracle 10.2.0.1?

    I have to migrate a DWH on Server 1 (OWB 9.0.4.10, Oracle Workflow 2.6.2, Windows 2000, Oracle 9.2.0.6) to Server 2 1 (OWB 9.0.4.10, Oracle Workflow 2.6.3, Windows 2003, Oracle 10.2.0.1)
    It’s posible to use OWB 9.0.4.10 with W2003 and Oracle 10.2.0.1?
    Thanks very much in advance!

    Hi,
    This is the relevant section from Metalink's 'Certify' section:
    Server Certifications
    Product      Server      Status      Addtl. Info.      Components      Other      Issues

    10.1.0.x      10.1.0.x      Certified      None      None      Yes      None
    Additional info on 10gR2 DB: Database 10.2.0.x is only certifed with Oracle Warehouse builder patch set 10.1.0.4 or higher.
    So: bad luck, need to upgrade OWB 10.1.0.4 to at least.
    I suggest you learn to use Metalink for having these kinda questions answered.

    Probably the clntsh lib has been damaged in some copying action (FTP in ASCII

    The linker noticed at least that it does not have the Executable and Linking Format

  • 46c with 46d_ext kernel sles and oracle platform question

    Dear sap on linux community,
    I currently have R/3 4.6c with 46d_ext kernel running on sles8 and ora 9204 (all 32-bit)
    As part of an upgrade project I want to move current system to sles10 and oracle 10 (all 64-bit). I am using that note as a starting point.
    According to the note oracle 9 client is required with ora10 db ?
    Why is this ?
    This leads to some conflicting results from pam.
    pam states that it is supported to run ora10 64-bit on sles10.
    But as far as I know it is not suported to install ora9 client on sles10.
    Please explain.
    Do I need a db server with sles10ora10 and a ci app server with sles9ora9 ?
    Rgds, Eirikur.

    Hello,
    I strongly recommend you to take a look at the note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/521230">521230: FAQ: Client software 9i or earlier on UNIX</a>
    The oracle client to be used on a SAP system running on UNIX depends on the <b>KERNEL</b>
    You are upgrading
    - Your OS ( from SLES 8 to 10 )
    - Your Oracle DB ( from 9i to 10g )
    Your kernel is NOT changing, therefore the oracle client still is the same as before.
    NOTE. Even when the oracle client still is 9i, you must have version 9.2.0.7 or 9.2.0.8
    Please, do not confuse the oracle client version (9i) with the RDBMS version (10g)
    There is no conflict with PAM. PAM talks about RDBMS version, not about client versions.
    At the end you will have a DB server running oracle 10g (RDBMS) and CI/AS runing kernel 46D_EXT with Oracle <b>CLIENT</b> 9i

  • How to clone 11gr2 grid and oracle homes

    Hi,
    By mistake I have installed the software and the database under the same disk /u01. I should had installed the software under /u02 and the database + grid infrastructure for standalone server + Oracle restart under /u01.
    My database is 11gR2 on Linux Redhat server.
    I have installed Grid Infrastructure for standalone server and the database in /u01.
    How can I clean clone all these components from /u01 to /u02? I mean the components are:
    - Grid Infrastructure for standalone server under grid user.
    - Oracle Restart under grid user.
    - Oracle software and Oracle database.
    Thank you

    What about desinstalling everything : grid infrastructure, Oracle restart , Oracle homes, databases.
    I have seen some users of this forum complaining of the errors from the de installer.
    can I simply use the Deinstallation Tool downloaded from the OTN and then in ORDER:
    1- Remove the Oracle database home under Oracle User:
    ./deinstall -home /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1
    2- Remove the grid install under the grid user:
    ./deinstall -home /u01/app/11.2.0/grid
    Any idea please?

  • GUIDE: Oracle VM VirtualBox and Oracle Linux NIC bonding

    Author: Dude
    Date: 01-Jun-2013
    Version: B
    Last updates:
    23-Jul-2013, changes required due to forum upgrade
    The following  is provided in the hope that it might be useful. If you wish to use it for the purpose of reference, presentation or education, please include the link or information to this forum posting. Thank you!
    What is Linux network interface bonding? Simply put, the Linux system provides a kernel driver, which can create a logical network device (bond) using 2 or more Network Interface Controllers (NIC) to accomplish link-aggregation and adapter fault-tolerance. For more information, please see the Deployment Guide at https://linux.oracle.com/documentation/
    The channel bonding interface supports several modes of operation. In a typical active-backup set up for fault-tolerance, the system performs MII-based health monitoring of the network interface slaves (eth0, eth1) and assigns them according to bond options and interface availability. In active-backup mode (mode 1), only the current active network device is seen externally.
    Linux bonding for fault-tolerance under Oracle VM VirtualBox does not seem to function as advertised. Searching the Internet for more information shows that other people have tried to set up Linux bonding using various virtualization products, virtual host network adapter and bonding options, but without success.
    It appears the management of Media Access Control addresses (MAC) interferes with internal routing methods between the host and the virtual machine guest. Using the modinfo bonding command (fig. 1) shows a listing of available parameters for the bonding kernel module. The fail_over_mac parameter addresses the Mac address issue in VirtualBox.
    Fig.1
    # modinfo bonding
    filename:       /lib/modules/2.6.39-400.17.1.el6uek.x86_64
                    /kernel/drivers/net/bonding/bonding.ko
    parm:           fail_over_mac:For active-backup,
                    do not set all slaves to the same MAC;
                    0 for none (default), 1 for active, 2 for follow (charp)
    Configuration Example
    Virtualization Product: Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.2.10
    VM Guest OS: Oracle Linux 6.4 (x64)
    VM adapter settings: Bridged Adapter, Paravirtualized Network (virtio-net)
    Adapter1 (eth0): 080027436617, en0, Ethernet 1
    Adapter2 (eth1): 08002708F36A, en0, Ethernet 1
    Note: If you wish to reset the network adapter names and MAC addresses used by the Oracle Linux guest system, erase the content of /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and restart the virtual machine.
    1. Create or modify the following configuration files:
    /etc/modprobe.d/bonding-eth0_eth1.conf
    alias bond0 bonding
    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bond0
    DEVICE=bond0

    BONDING_OPTS="mode=1 miimon=100 fail_over_mac=1"
    /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
    DEVICE=eth0
    BOOTPROTO=none
    ONBOOT=yes
    MASTER=bond0
    SLAVE=yes
    USERCTL=no

    DEVICE=eth1
    BOOTPROTO=none
    ONBOOT=yes
    MASTER=bond0
    SLAVE=yes
    USERCTL=no
    2. Restart the system or network services (root):
    Fig. 2
    # service network restart
    Configuration Test
    Enter the following commands as user root to verify proper operation of NIC bonding:

    During the above test, the client network connection from host 10.0.0.1 (ssh) was maintained without any noticeable interruption. As it can be seen from the syslog and ifconfig command output, the bond0 interface was automatically assigned either the MAC address of eth0 or eth1 and the fail-over worked as advertised.
    Good luck!

  • How should I try out Oracle Grid and Oracle database?

    I want to try out Oracle Grid and Oracle database in a virtualized test environment. I have already downloaded the Oracle VM VirtualBox for Windows platform. The OS for the production environment is RHEL. So, do I just need to download Oracle Linux? How about the VM Manager, VM Server, and Oracle programs?

    You can use the standard distribution media from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/downloads/index.html and https://edelivery.oracle.com/linux to install Oracle Linux and Oracle 11g in Virtualbox. Virtualbox can use real disk media as well as .iso disk image files. Oracle Linux 6 is not certified for any Oracle database product yet. Your best option will be to install Oracle Linux 5.7 and then install the Oracle-Validated software package to prepare Oracle Linux for the Oracle database installation.
    Virtualbox and Oracle VM are different products. Oracle VM, including OVM server and manager installs its own operating system and is designed for installations on bare metal machines. Virtualbox is an application that requires a primary host OS, e.g. Windows, MacOSX, Linux, to install one or more virtual machines with Windows or Linux guest systems.
