1st question: Can't Sync iPod touch 5th gen to another laptop, How do I sync it without loosing all of my music and info? 2nd question: How do I transfer a single onto the full album?
I have two questions:
1. When I first got an iPod touch (4th gen) I synced it (to start it up) on my mom's Mac Laptop. I finally got my own laptop and tryed to sync my music and info from my iPod to my ASUS laptop, but it said that the only way to do that was to clear all of my info. (I kinda forgot what it said my options were) but I am not sure what to do now. I want all of my stuff from my iPod on my laptop, but I don't want it to delete all of my stuff. Do I need to use a hard drive? Or download it another way other than syncing it?
My second question was:
2. I downloaded a single from iTunes before, but I ended up getting the full album later (CD) and downloaded it to my computer. Now I have two albums. One of them is just the single. And the other one is the whole album (other than the single). I want to put them together onto 1 album but I am not sure how to. How to I transfer the single onto the alum?

- For the album, right click on the songs and click on Get Info. Go to the Info tab. Change the track or disk number of the one song so it fits in with that of the other songs.

I can't. The storage requied for apps varies greatly. Some apps only need/use 10 or so MB. However, some apss need like 5 GB.

Please help!?You do not. You have to restore the iPod. You can then restoe from backup and get to where you were when the the last backups was made.

How can I unlock ipod touch 5th gen currently disabled and never sync'd with itunes
Basic situation. Ipod touch 5th gen. Passcode forgotten and tried too many times such that ipod is disabled and requested to connect to iTunes. Problem is that the ipod was never sync'd with iTunes so the connection fails. I've only owned it for 9 months or so. I know I can recover all my music through iTunes and my applications through the app store since all of my content was legally purchased. The problem is that I need to also recover my contacts and pictures since this is the only place they exist.
I have read about methods up to 4th generation where you can access a particular file on the device via computer and rename it to unlock the device. That would most likely allow me to then sync/backup via iTunes and recover my data. Problem is that I can only access the DCIM folder via windows manager and it contains no data. Perhaps there is a way to access the device a different way?
Is there a way with the 5th generation to either reset the lock (from disabled to locked with a 1 min wait for retry as an example) to allow me more opportunities to try other passcodes that I may have set (including mistypes etc) or to remove the passcode completely and let me set it to something I will write down this time?
Please do not reply with the standard apple responses of 'sync with itunes' or 'factory reset' and no, I did not sync with the icloud either (I tried but it was unsuccessful for some reason).
The answer doesn't even have to be a free one as I would be willing to pay for the solution if it were guaranteed to work. Since apple seems to want to charge for any type of support, even to ask a question, I am relying on the community for help. Thanks much.You have to place the iPod in Recovery mode as Apple says and erase the device. It is a security feature.

If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.

Hello,
Recently, I wanted to sync my iPod, to my iTunes on my Windows 8 laptop (which I have done a few times previously).
I plugged in my ipod with the USB cord, and I got a notification "Apple iPod, Tap to choose what happens to this device"
When I click it this is what shows up:
The only one that makes sense is to open with Dropbox, but nothing happens.
I've clicked everything, and iTunes (which used to open automatically) has to be opened manually, and when I do, it doesn't show the iPod connected.
I have looked through my computer, and I've gone on multiple sites, I really don't have a clue about technical stuff, Other than restarting my computer, Ipod, and re-installing iTunes, I don't know what to do.
Also, one page on apple support said to look somewhere in Help, on iTunes, except there is no "Help" anywhere.
A guide on how to actually navigate iTunes would be so helpful.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

I have the latest update, 5.0.1 and I have the iPod Touch 3rd gen.
I have tried removing itunes and all that is associated with it then reinstalling and keep getting the same message. I've reset my ipod thinking that would help but still, no backup.
In iTunes, Edit, Preference, Device there are no backups.

if i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it to the option 'set up as a new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and log into my apple ID so i can just restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos, contacts, ect. and then later i can add contacts that i need/want instead of them restoring them from icloud?
The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

-sierraHey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. I have an iphone 4 16 gb and got an ipod touch 64 gb because i needed more momory. i need to sycn everything from my iphone 4 to my ipod touch 5th gen i just bought. i just downloaded the latest version of itunes as well. To be honest, the newest version of itunes is hard to use and not as user friendly in my opinion - or i may not know how to use it yet. Anyways, i tried to backup my iphone to itunes and then restore my new ipod from the backup of the iphone 4, but it only backed up phoyos, contacts, and two other things (games was not one of them). Then when I restored my ipod, that is all that downloaded onto the ipod as well. I would really appreciate if someone would be able to provide me with detailed instructions as to how to be able to download everything from my iphone 4 to my ipod touch 5th generation. Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Dont forget to check that all the transferred data is in the iTunes media folder so that the iTunes can locate the files. Link to Transcopy software :

In Itunes (it is the most recent version for windows available as of 2/12/2014) all my podcasts are showing they have downlaoded to my PC. They don't have the little cloud next to them. I sync my Ipod touch 5th gen. The sync shows everything was synced. I look at the "Whats on this ipod" tab and they are listed. But when I disconnect the ipod via the "eject" icon on the Ipod button in itunes and look at the podcasts they still show as not downloaded (greyed out and if wifi is turned on the little cloud is next to them ).
So whats going on? I had this issue with my ipod touch 4th gen as well and though it was because the podcast app stopped upgrading but the itunes on windwos did. But the syncing of the podcasts are even worse with the 5th gen then they were with the 4th gen.
I typically don't have wifi turned on since I want to sync the ipod via itunes. So I have a central place to keep the old podcasts without having to take space on the ipod itself. I saw some references to the downloading of podacasts are done only via wifi, but that just didn't make sense. Why be able to sync Itunes if they are just going to turn around and make you do the same on the device?
Any ideas? Suggestions?

Laptop hard drive broke so had to buy a new one and obviously now need to sort out my itunes.
Did try downloading all my purchased stuff onto itunes but it has missed some things off, and there are some files I did not purchase from itunes so need a way of getting them back on there.
Sure this question has been asked a million times but can't find anything to help me on here so thought I'd ask.
-Did have a look at going onto the start menu and opening the hidden items thing but couldn't see any reference to ipod or device on it so wasn't sure how to do it that way.
-On itunes under my device when its connected, the section about manually restoring and backing up, would that help me? Because that says it will manually back up my ipod to my computer then could restore that back up, obviously I don't want to accidnetally get rid of everything on my ipod so didn't want to try that just in case without checking.
(And yes I have disabled auto sync to device when conncected!)

ChrisBacking up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media. You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else. As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC. Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.
