2012 package inventory

Env - 2012. All packages are stored in SSISDB. I have created folder - 'abc'. Under that, i have added packages. I need to capture SSIS package inventory like.
-Counts
-description
-connections to database
-tables / views involved.
-Task type (example - data flow task, common tasks, other transformations, other sources & other destinations tasks) - I want to know the sequence the way the package build.
How can i achieve this.....thanks in advance...

You supposed to make some exploration before posting here. MSDN is very clear about what is exposed.
The starting page is https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh479588.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
You can make a count of packages/projects (I assume), get description from
catalog.projects and
catalog.packages views, but as far as the rest of the things you ask this is not possible. And this is because the packages become not parsable once under SSISDB.
It seems to me your goal is to document deployed packages, then may be you need specialized tools. These tools look into packages before they are deployed. The tools I would start looking at are from Pragmatic Works (not sure if the name remains BIDocumenter,
but I test drove it and liked it very much).

  • SSIS 2012 package runs under SSDT but fails with permission error from SSMS

I have a simple package that pulls data from a text file located on a Windows file server that runs successfully from SSDT on my client.
However, when deployed and running the package via SSMS from the client, the package fails with a permission error, with the error stating that the data file could not be opened.
I have done some investigation and have seen some info that states that a package run from SSMS runs under the account on which you are logged on to the machine, which I would have thought is correct. This is therefore the same account when running from
SSDT (which works) and I can see from the SSIS Report that the 'Caller' is stated as my account, so if this is the case why isin't the package working.
I've also seen an MSDN forum answer which stated the opposite that the package when run from the IS Catalog in SSMS doesn't run under the account on which the client is logged on with, which is the opposite of the above, but doesn't indicate which account
    it is using.
So what account is being used to run SSIS 2012 packages from the IS catalog from within SSMS ?
If it is the account on which you are logged onto the client running SSMS, why is it not working when the account has the necessary permissions (as provent when running from SSDT) ?

I am aware it's using my account and not one of the service. There's nothing in the posts above which suggests I'm using the service account. I don't know why people keep assuming that I'm running the package from a job. I've never stated that in any of
the posts I'm running the package from a job. It's been made quite clear I'm running the package from the IS Catalog on SSMS:
"This is simply selecting a package from the IS Catalog, right-clicking and selecting Execute package.", as per the Nov 18 post, and in the original post "....So what account is being used to run SSIS 2012 packages from the IS catalog from
    within SSMS".
Just to be clear, the package is NOT being run from a job. It's using the Execute package option when selecting the package within SSMS from the IS Catalog and it's running under the account on which I am logged on to my client.
Please read carefully. I was just answering your question "So what account is being used to run SSIS 2012 packages from the IS catalog from within SSMS ?" and stating that you where right and that it uses your account to run the package
when you execute a package manually from the Catalog and that you can prove that by logging the system variable.
A good suggestion about using a share in the task to map the drive and I will try this. I would find it strange that SSMS requires this mapping whereas SSDT does not though.
Ok let us know your findings. If it doesn't work you can also test it with a password and username:
    net use f: \\financial\public  yourpassword /user:username

  • SSIS 2012 package scheduling with SQL Server 2008 R2

Hi, We have a ssis 2012 package with parameters & would like to schedule this package in SQL Server 2008 R2 agent. Is there a way to pass parameters to the ssis package from SQL Server 2008 R2 agent?
    Thanks in advance..........
    Ione

You cant use SQL 2008 R2 to schedule it as dtexec 2008 cant execute package created using SSIS 2012. The inverse can be done though

  • C++ 2012 package (11.0.50727) & error message during installation printer software

    Hello to you all,
I've recently bought a new laptop for my daughter (a HP Pavilion Touch Smart 11).
When I try to install the software needed for installation for the printer (HP J6410) I get the following error.
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local-\Temp\7zS46SD\Setup\de..
Now, I've already tried pretty much about everything. Even a full factory recovery, installing all of the needed updates, after that upgrading to windows 8.1, installing of the updates for that OS version too, and then trying to install the software again.
No succes, but the more I try, the more I'm convinced the problem might lay in the C++ 2012 redistributable package (version 11.0.50727). This is why.
I've got more laptops here at home. The one I have for my own is a HP 15 Notebook and has Windows 8.1 installed on it as well. Now here's the funny thing.
I managed to install the software on my own laptop (the HP 15, with an Intel processor) but no succes on the laptop for my daughter (the HP 11 TS, with an AMD processor).
When I looked at the installed C++ packages I noticed that the laptop for my daugther has the C++ 2012 package installed, and my own doesn't. So that's why I think the problem must lay there. Also because on this page (http://www.freewarefiles.com/Microsoft-Visual-C-2012-Redistributable-x64_program_78882.html)
it is said that it supports Windows 8 (which was pre-installed on the laptop for my daughter), but Windows 8.1 isn't mentioned.
I would be very thankfull if someone could help me resolving this issue.
(Note: I've tried to get help on the support forum of HP.  More information on how I resolved the issue, in May 2014, on my own laptop, and how it is related to C++, can be found here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Officet-J6410-won-t-install-under-Windows-8-1-64-bit/m-p/3935396#M142540

Please do read them. I've already tried so many things, and I can't get the issue resolved. Even though I'm pretty sure I must be so close to resolving this issue.)
I most thankfully await your response(s).
    Update (30-9-2014, 23:14):
I've written above that I tried to re-install the printer. With the original CD, and also the software one can download on the HP site (OJ_AIO_J6400_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.exe). Now, it seemed a good idea do uninstall the software.
Yep, you guess it .. I made my problem worse.
When I tried to uninstall it with the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS6A01\util\ccc\uninstall.exe I got the following message at reboot. It says you have to click OK to terminate the program, but it doesn't await your response. It's there,
for a glimpse of a moment, and disappears. It said (in Dutch):
'De instructie op .....xe01 verwijst naar geheugen op 0x00000000. Een lees- of schrijfbewerking op het geheugen is mislukt. read
Klik op OK als u het programma wilt beëindigen'.
It looks very similar to the error message here: http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=8d18c288-aeb4-41c0-983f-6798cfa178a0 that I found in this topic: http://answers.microsoft.com/nl-nl/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_install/windows-81-afsluitfout-explorerexe-0xe06640b9/0c64290f-2e0b-47fc-a38a-adb9ceb5a5ac
Now, after this (that is: the uninstalling op the printer software) I returned to a system recovery point I made before the installation of the HP printer software. So that can not be the problem anymore. However, the error message kept returning.
So I'm pretty much convinced it must have something to do with explorer.exe, the msi-program, compatability-issues and the C++ packages. How to proceed now from here?
Should I uninstall the C++ 2012 package? If so, can I do that safely? Do I need a newer version of the C++ packages? Where can I find it?
Please, help me out? I most thankfully await your answer(s).

  • Weird question in SSIS 2012 package

    hi folks:
I've created a SSIS 2012 package in my local machine using
Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer
    Version 11.0.3436.0
This package contains a script task using .NET framework 4 .
Everything works fine and I decided to deploy to the QA server.
On the QA server, the package wont' work then I decided to open in the SSIS designer with the same version 11.0.3436.0
This is when this weird things happens.
On the QA machine, when I opened this deployed pkg directly in SSIS designer and ran it, the pkg failed with the error pointing to the script task.
Then, I literally opened the script task and closed it WITHOUT changing anything .
After that, I ran the same package in SSIS designer... Guess what, it worked!!!
Weird!  could anyone here help explain what just happened? this makes my deployment process a nightmare as I have to literally opened the script task after it gets deployed and change the pkg location as SSIS designer will save the "good"
pkg in a different location other than deployed one.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi cat_ca,
According to your description, the first time you run the SSIS package in SSIS designer, the package failed with the error pointing to the script task, you opened and closed the script task and re-run the package, it worked fine.
When we debug the SSIS package, the script component will be compiled to binary. In this case, the binary reverse failed due to some reason, so the script task is not normally build. To troubleshoot the problem, we can make use of logging feature to monitor
    execution of an SSIS package.

  • How to deploy and execute SSIS 2012 packages when only SSDT is installed

Hi, I am facing a weird situation where we did an upgrade for visual studio to vs 2102 on all the dev machines and as part of that moved to SSDT from BIDS but all the database is still SQL Server 2008 R2. Now I have a few SSIS 2012 packages which I cannot
schedule & run because DTEXEC.exe is not compatible and I get all sorts of version & “Package Load error 0xC0010014 in CPackage::LoadFromXML” error even though I set it up in 32-bit mode and was trying to save it to msdb. I knew I will not be
able to schedule this as a job in SQL Server Agent but even saving the package does not work.
    Thanks in advance............
    Ione

I doubt 2012 ssis packages are backwards compatible with 2008r2. 2008r2 doesn't know anything about the project deployment model and i'm sure there's new tasks and connectors in 2012 so the package deployment model ssis packages won't work either.
You will need a sql 2012 integration services service installed and running somewhere. You need this to execute your 2012 packages

  • SCCM 2012 Packages - Software and apply license

    HI All,
    I think I already know the answer, but I just want to check that the package options are selected correctly as I'm a newbie when it comes to packaging;
We are trying to install Trapeze viewer (from Onstream, part of our Idox solution). The software calls for the License to be applied manually after the install (just double click the file and it applies itself, the users are able to do this). We are migrating
our estate onto Win 7 x64 and this will have to be done on 400+ machines.
    I've created a SCCM 2012 Package with two Programs; 1 to install the software from MSI file and the 2 to run the license file in hoping that when a new user of a machine logs in the Trapeze license is applied for the first time;
    1- Software -
    General
    Name: Install Trapeze
    Command line: "TrapezeDesktop_9_05.msi"
    Run: Hidden
    After Running: No Action Required
    Environment
Program can Run: Whether or not user is logged on
Run Mode: Run with Admin rights
    Allow user interaction: Unchecked
    Advanced
When program is assed to Computer: Run once for computer
    Supress Program notification: Checked
    2-License -
    General
    Name: Trapeze License
    Command line: license.tpz
    Run: Hidden
    After Running: No Action Required
    Environment
Program can Run: Only when a user is logged on
    Run Mode: Run withUser rights
    Allow user interaction: Unchecked
    Advanced
    Run another Program First: Checked
    Package: Onstream Trapeze
    Program: Install Trapeze
Always run this program first: Checked
When program is assed to Computer: Run once for every user who logs on
    Supress Program notification: Checked
    Many Thanks
    Becki

    Hi Torsten,
license.tpz applies a license to the trapeze software, manually it is just double clicked, and then the trapeze software opens stating that the license will take affect next time the software is ran.
Is it worth me pointing it to the trapeze.exe file in the command line, such as:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Onstream Trapeze\trapeze.exe" REGLICENSE=\\server\share\Onstream Trapeze\license.tpz
on my initial testing it did work to one of my test machines, but didn't re-run the license when another user logged in and came up with a license not found message.

  • SCCM 2012 "hardware inventory classes" for AppV?

Hi, I would like to get a better view what App-V application issue we have on App-V 4.6.2 in an usercentric deployment senrio
I also see that SCCM 2012 "hardware inventory classes" "Appv Client Applications" is not set and not all is activated under "Virtual Applications".

Are you saying the class exists in SCCM 2012 for you but not applied to all of your virtual applications or that there and can't be applied or that the option isn't in SCCM for you at all?

  • How to upgrade ssis 2012 packages into ssis 2014

we upgraded ssis 2012 packages into ssis 2014 but when i execute the packages its showing as validation mode .

    Hi harikiran2010,
To upgrade packages that were created in earlier versions of Integration Services to the Integration Services format that SQL Server 2014 uses. SQL Server provides the SSIS Package Upgrade Wizard to help in this process. We can double-click the Integration
Services project to open the project in SSIS 2014, Integration Services automatically opens the SSIS Package Upgrade Wizard, then select the desired packages to upgrade.
As to the validation issue, I think the issue can be caused by the connection manager validate fails. We can test the connection by right-clicking the connection manager in the Connection Managers area of SSIS Designer and then clicking Test Connectivity.
Another possibility is you are using some expressions to control some configurations, we can set all of the package and all of the connections to work offline when data sources are not available by
enable Work Offline from the SSIS menu and set DelayValidation to True on package elements whose configuration is not valid at design time to prevent validation errors.

  • SCCM 2012 Hardware Inventory - Custom Inventory Class ( to Include a registry information in to HW Inv)

    Hi,
I am trying to include information from a registry into SCCM HW Inventory, I would need some help in extending the HW inventory.
I have followed one of the blog which says that the change needs to be done on both Configuration.mof and also import the .mof in "Default Client Settings".
In Microsoft documentation I see an option to just import a .mof file, I did follow the option of importing the .mof into HW inventory and it was imported without any error (I used a mofcomp -check to compile the code)
    Result:
I see following errors in the InventoryAgent.log which are related to the class that I imported and the information or the fields are not yet available in the resource explorer

  • SCCM 2012 hardware Inventory

    I want my
Inventory for Printers and Scanner (USB or Network Model), network devices such as Switches and router and any devices attached to POS terminals such as PDT, Monitor, and Keyboard. Can SCCM 2012 R2 can do this.
How to configure this feature if SCCM 2012 can do
    Rgds, SSJE

ConfigMgr can run a network discovery, however the information you will get back on the objects will be limited to IP address, hostname and mac address. Check in the discover methods in the Administation workspace.
You can extend the hardware classes to gather more information on printers - some info here
    http://www.74k.org/find-printer-information-in-sccm-2012
You already get monitor details in ConfigMgr. This blog gives you some info on how to get a little extra from the EDID data. http://exar.ch/collecting-monitor-serial-numbers-with-sccm/

    >Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation
In your script taks you need to "unwrap" this exception by examining its .InnerException.  An easy way is to catch TargetInocationException and re-throw its .InnerException.

  • SCCM 2012 - Software Inventory Timeout

    Hi,
I'm currently using SCCM 2012 R2 in my environment and we are inventorying PST files on our Server collection.  The PST Software Inventory job is timing out after 4 hours on some of the servers, which leads to incomplete reporting.  I believe the
timeout is occurring due to a large number of compressed files and folders within the directory structure on the servers that are experiencing the issue.  We are unable to disable compression on these files and folders.  We are also unable to specify
individual paths for scanning as we are trying to discover all PST files on our network.
My questions:  Is there a way to increase the timeout settings of the Software Inventory job or is there a different workaround for the above?  Is there a way to increase the local cpu priority for the Software Inventory job?
    Regards,
    Joe Coviello

It's not timing out due to the compressed folders, it's timing out due to the shear number of overall files that on on your file servers.
No, there is no supported way to increase the timeout.
For file servers, ConfigMgr is not the tool of choice -- you should be using FSRM or something similar.

In 2007  it seemed relatively straight forward - Software Distribution | Packages right click View | Export list.....

That is certainly an easy way to get that info.  However I was wondering if there is a report or other method that can be used.  My goal is to have a report that will list all packages currently in SCCM 2012, and make it a subscription so it can
be automatically emailed out every week.  This is useful for our application team to be aware of what apps they need to be supporting.
    Thanks.

  • SCCM 2012 package deployment reboot behaviour

    Hi,
When i deploy package from SCCM 2012 with default reboot behavior it forces reboot. I want to suppress the reboot and let user to postpone the reboot whenever they want with popup window as like available for SCCM patch deployment. Is there way to achieve
this. Can someone please provide suggestion if already done it.
    Regards,
    Madhan

Actually, default behavior does *not* force a reboot. To have ConfigMgr force a reboot, you must choose the option that says ConfigMgr forces a reboot. Thus, the command-line you've configured is forcing the reboot which means you need to adjust the command-line
to suppress the reboot as that's outside of ConfigMgr's control.
