Hi Jim,
Like so much in DIAdem, it is possible, but only with scripting. Now if you had asked to color the background of the FALSE cells red, that we can not do, but text color and text font can both be adapted on a cell-by-cell basis via a UserCommand.
I think there's an example that ships, but here's one I created,

Table cell - text formatting question
Can't seem to find how to do this. I changed the marging of
the box to 5 pixels. That only seems to effect a sentence after a
hard-break. It does not effect soft-breks/returns.
I'd like every line in the cell to be 3 pixels from the left
border.
Thx!Not enough. Code from Main.css please.

Mail.app: text in table cells in incoming formatted mail - problems replying
MacOS 10.9.2
mail.app 7.2, threading enabled
Sometimes I receive a formatted email that is really difficult to reply to, when I want to intersperse my reply text among the incoming paragraphs.
The trouble occurs when multiple incoming paragraphs are grouped. I can’t open up vertical space for my reply text inside the groups.
If I click anywhere in the group, mail.app marks the group with a surrounding rounded-corner grey rectangle, with a X-in-a-circle “close icon” at the upper left corner.
When I look at the raw source of the incoming message, I see that the groups correspond to table cells, that is, the sending mail client enclosed the paragraphs within a <td> … </td> pair.
The sending email client is sending me a table, for no clear reason — the group doesn’t correspond to anything obvious in the message thread.
I’m guessing we won’t ever know why some email clients group paragraphs like this, but I’d like to do my best to adapt, so I can keep up with my incoming email.
Yeah, I can ask my correspondents to use a different email client, or perhaps different settings in the same client, but except for the few tekkies among my correspondents, this isn’t really practical. I can also ask my clients to use unformatted messages, but THAT is a whole different issue, and frequently isn’t practical, either.
My questions:
Q1: What’s the point of the grey rectangle and the “close icon”? (Is this mail.app’s way of saying, “I received this crazy formatting, almost impossible to process, so I’m making it easy for you to just delete the whole mess”? Or what?)
Q2: Is there any SIMPLE way to untangle (modify or remove) these groupings within mail.app? (I guess I can access the raw html, copy-and-paste it into another app, modify it, and paste the results back into my reply. Yuck!)
Q3: Am I missing a really obvious work-around or fix?
TIAIn your question, you indicated that you are running Firefox 8. Is that correct? It might be difficult to diagnose issues with that version because most people have moved on to Firefox 12 (plus or minus 1 version). Can you upgrade?
It's hard to think of a reason that ordinary text or links in ordinary text would not display. For embedded images or videos, one possibility is a difference in the protocol, i.e., HTTP (not secure) versus HTTPS (secure).
Hopefully someone else will have a better guess (or actual knowledge!).
Regarding the blue lines in a message, that usually indicates the earlier message was forwarded a few times. I don't know whether Gmail will let you reformat that area or whether you have to clean it in another application (e.g., for plain text, in Notepad) and paste it back in. -
I suspect it has been asked by others, but can't find it in the archives. I need it for table cells with diagonals, and they need to fit like a glove.
Hi,
if the content is in a table cell (<td>), simply use valign="top" in the Region HTML table cell attributes.
"Vertical align" is not intended to align text in a block, but an in-line component in another in-line component (for example a picture next to text).
Maybe you have to play with margins.

HTML Data Table with cell-level inline messages?
Hi all.
I'm not suprised by this, but I am wondering if anyone has figured out a slick/elegant way around the "problem"
Basically, the problem I want to solve is:
how to get corresponding validation error messages to show up in the data table cell that contains the (editiable) ui component representing the "offending" value?
The naive first approach would be simply to place an inline message component just before or after the corresponding data table column's row value presentation component.
But obviously, this won't work, primarily because the inline message component id will not be unique (does not pick up the currentRow to make it unique) asd well as due to the issue of binding the inlineMessage component's "for" attribute to the correct row (as well as column).
So, the naive first approach results in a thrown exception:
javax.servlet.ServletException: Duplicate component id: 'form1:personDataTable:firstNameValidationInlineMessage'
Now, I know I could add "virtual" columns to my data table to hold validation errors so that they correspond to the correct row/columns and I know I can bind the rendered attribute, style etc, for corresponding presentation elements, but then I've basically side-stepped the whole faces message functionality built into the JSF framework.
Also, if I have to use "virtual" columns, then I've complicated life for myself, since I ordinarily want to bind the data table to a list of bean instances (i.e. we are using hibernate persistence) or even a row set (difficulty setting a column value that is not updateable in data source, i.e. corresponds to no table/column and maybe involves dynamically adding "virtual" column to data cache?).
Now, I know I can place a message list on the page instead (this is currently what I am doing), and I know I can change the application so that I provide a separate *single row" edit page, both of which provide a semi-adequate alternative.
I like the first alternative (the one I'm using), because in-place editing of data table rows is so much more compact and elegant, both in terms of presentation and coding.
Using this first alternative, I am currently adding to the validation error messages the currentRow attrubute so that users can see it an trace back to the corresponding row in the data table to correct the data entry.
However, everyone, users, project drivers and developers (including myself), are grumbling a bit over such a "hackish" approach.
Any thoughts? Am I missing something obvious?Well I'll be damned!
What's done in the sample app is, of course, the intuitively obvious choice and is exactly what I started out trying to do the first time round.
But as I mentioned before, when I first tried it (yes: I'm pretty sure I set the "for" attribute on the inlineMessage components), I got the non-unique component id exception for the inlineMessage component(s) after adding the second (but not the first) row to the page.
Anyway, after dragging my inlineMessages to the exact same position as those in the AppModel example, now things work fine (except I think I'd like a line break before the message and to change the row/column styles so the values and messages line up properly...the look is rather ugly in the AppModel example when there are validation messages displayed).
Not sure, but I'm thinking maybe there was an issue with where the inline message markup was placed, my first time through, relative to the data table value bound component and the column header facet?
I was using the application view drag 'n drop feature the first time round and dragged the inlineMessage component to the spot just below the data table value bound component and hence just above the column header facet. In the AppModel example, OTOH, the inline messages are placed just after the column header facet.
Of course, I will now try to duplicate the original exception.
If I can (and it is an issue with placement), I will post back some sort of bug report or RFE. Otherwise, I'll post back declaring what a bone head I've been...;-)
Anyway, thanks for the quick response, v.

I would like to how to know how to set eg. the background of a cell in table or to set the cell non-editting. I tried to solve this problem like this:
for (int i = 0;
i < zinsstrukturVec.size();
i++)
((JTextField)((DefaultCellEditor) jTableZinsstruktur.getCellEditor(i,4)).getComponent()).
setHorizontalAlignment(SwingConstants.RIGHT);
but it do not work.
thank you!

Carriage return in a WD table cell
Hi,
I have data in a table cell which I would like to present better by adding a carriage returns so that it appears on more than one line for example as bullet points.
I can format it using HTML but cant seem to be able to find out how to set encode to true for that cell.
Has anyone come across this problem before, or even have a simpler solution.
Cheers

RoboHelp 7 to 9 : Table Cell Padding
HI All,
I very recently upgraded from TCS 1.3 with RoboHelp 7 to TCS 3.5 with RoboHelp 9. Yeay! All is good so far except one little niggle. . .
I use tables frequently in my source files to set out information. In RH7 I did this through Table > Insert > Table... Select number of rows and columns then click OK.
When I did this I could see that RH had automatically added padding to the table cells. If I added text into the cell there was a small gap between the table border and start of the text.
When I perform the same action in RH9, the padding appears to be missing (highlight a table cell and skip over to HTML view). I can't figure out how to add this automatically.It could get a little tiresome if I have to add it for each table cell from now on in order to be consistent with the tables already in my project. Manually adding a margin from the Table properties dialog appears to make no difference. Even when I set the margin to be outrageously huge, my text still butts right up against the table border.
So, does anyone know how I can set my table cells to automatically have the same padding as they did in RH7?
Any ideas or help are welcomed. Thanks guys!
LilPresumably, after reading the Table Styles topic in the help as well as your tour Peter, my existing tables stay as is unless I apply a table style to them but I have to create a style for any new tables I add into my project files?
Yes to all questions. At some point it may be worth converting your inline tables to CSS though so that future changes are just at CSS level.
You don't mention in your tour Peter whether the mapping issue across to printed documentation has now been fixed in RH9?
If you mean what I think you do, not that is still an issue.
Having attempted to create a table style, I'm now trying to work out why if I choose to apply formatting to the 'Whole Table' and set the borders to 'Solid', '1px', 'All Borders' and 'Silver', I get an outline around the whole table rather than all cells bordered. Confused?!!
The table editor is a nightmare. Whole table means the outer borders, not the whole table, as one might reasonably expect. I think the trick is to set borders for odd rows as top left and even rows as bottom right, something like that.

How Do i create a list that will show in a dropdown box with the list being pulled from another tab and not the cell data format junk?
I currently run OS X 10.10.1
Now i have been trying to work on this for a while now and what i want to do should be simple but its apparently not.
Here is an example of what i want to happen.
I will have 2 tabs: Contact | Sales
Now Contacts will have the list of names and various information about a customer, While Sales will have one drop-down box for each Cell Row that will show the names of the person in tab contacts
for what i am wanting to do i cant use the data format pop-up menu because the list is edited everyday several times a day.
Now how do i do this, Excel can do this so how can numbers do it?Hi Shegra,
Paste this into a applescript editor window and run it from there. In the script you may need to adjust the four properties to agree with your spreadsheet. Let me know if you have any questions.

Script starts:

Multi line issue in Table Cell Editor
Hi,
I am developing an occasionally connected application for handheld devices using NetWeaver Mobile 7.1. In one of the view, I have a table which display items information from the data source. In one of the column I need to display item description so I used TextEdit in the Cell Editor to display the information in multi line format and also wrapping is enabled.
But during testing of the application the TextEdit control does not wraps the text and as well as only first line of TextEdit control is visible inside the table and rest of the rows are not visible because of table's row height is not adjusted to the TextEdit control. I couldn't find any option to vary the size of the row height of the table.
Please suggest a solution to bring multi line display with in the table.
Also, check out my other issue posted here.

Thanks in advance.

Edited by: Vinodh Raj D on May 28, 2009 8:18 AMHi Vinodh,
Mutliline text in a text view/edit control inside a table cell is not supported.
You can view multiline text in a text view/edit as a seperate control inside a view. I think in case you want to see the whole address you can create a detail(s) view which can be navigated from the list (table) view.

Lines in shaded table cells do not render properly in pdf created in Word 2010
When creating a pdf with shaded table cells using MS Word 2010; the black lines in the shaded table cells do not show up when looking at the page at a fit page view (anything under around 60%). They print, they are there when I zoom in, but will not show up if you zoom out.
I read a forum post in Adobe here which gave some really logical suggestions, but they didn't seem to work for everyone or the level of effort was not what i can put into it. I also tried some of those and variations of those; but they didn't seem to work.
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/305508
Did anyone come up with a solution? Some people were saying it's a bug in pdf software, if that is the case, has anyone heard of a resolution?
I'm using Windows 7 and word 2010 btw, to create the pdf.
Thanks!!Just as a test, have you tried the MS plugin for PDF creation? I have found with other versions of WORD and Acrobat that PDF Maker and the MS plugin can both fill in dots and dashes on vector graphics (basically what the border is) and yet it comes out correctly with printing to the Adobe PDF printer. Unfortunately I do not have a solution. In my case, it seemed to be related to the vector graphic itself (I could import it to InkScape or other vector graphic tool and save to EMF and it then worked fine. It may be something that MS themselves have messed up in OFFICE 2013. Good luck.

Can't enter a date into a table cell the way I want to
I am trying to put "Jul 2008" in a table cell but every time I remove focus from it, it changes to "Jul 1, 2008". This is very annoying, how can I turn this off?
I solved this by making the "Cell Format" "Text" using the Inspector.

Text field spry validation over 2 table cells?
Hello,
This might be a real simple thing, but I can't figure it out. Can anyone please help?
I'm using DW CS3 and I'm building a contact form. I'm using DW's Spry validation for my text field. It's an email field. I'd like to put the label in one table cell and the input box in the adjacent cell. But I can't figure out how. I'm using the attach label using 'for' attribute.
Here is how DW writes the code:
<tr>
<td>
<span id="sprytextfield5">
<label for="email">Email</label>
<input type="text" name="emaill" id="emaill" />
<span class="textfieldInvalidFormatMsg">Invalid format.</span></span>
</td>
</tr>
As you can see, it's all in one cell.
I've tried massaging the code every which way but then the widget doesn't work.
Please help!

InDesign CS6 Font doesn't work in table cells
Hi all!
I'm working in InDesign CS6 on Mac OS 10.6 Leopard. I have character and paragraph styles defined using a certain font, and they work just fine except when using them in table cells. I have the character style nested in the paragraph style, which is then used in the cell style. But it doesn't work. It inherits everything correctly except for the font. If I select the text, the font menu tells me it is the correct font, but it displays in a different font. I've tried exporting to IDML and resaving, but that didn't work. I'm stumpedHi Jeffrey-
Indeed it should, and I see why using a formatted table would cause conflicts, but I am importing it as an unformatted table already. Built all styles in InDesign first, then imported as unformatted table. A few times it did work as expected, but most of the time it steadfastly refused to apply the correct font.
But in any case, that wasn't my only issue with the tables. My understanding of importing Excel spreadsheets is that applied table and cell styles will be maintained when the linked file is updated, but local formatting/overrides will be wiped out, which is why I was trying to get the styles working in the first place. However, after testing, I found that even when I didn't use local formatting/overrides, updating the linked file still broke my InDesign layout.
In my test, the only thing I did to the imported (unformatted) table was to apply the table/cell styles and adjust column width (which is unavoidable as far as I know - didn't see anywhere I could set column width as part of a style). But even then an update to the linked file removed all the styles and column widths I had set (and was also highly annoying as it gave me a separate error message about the formatting loss for each and every instance of the spreadsheet).
Could be a fluke, or could be I'm missing something, but for whatever reason, I just couldn't get it to work -
Hi,
I want to enter a superscript in a table cell e.g. ⁻128, but using the superscript command on the MINUS SIGN character rather than SUPERSCRPT MINUS character I used above. When I try and enter this, it works within the cell until I move away and then all the characters become superscript.
Is there anything I can do differently to resolve this?
Thanks in advance,
Triskaideka.I think you need to change the cell format to TEXT.
