3.2; BC4J; GridControl; Rollback

Hi,
I attached a ComboBox and CheckBox on the grid and they works fine. but if for any reason i got JBO/ORA exception and then clicked on Rollback icon on NavigationBar,
will lost the attached Combo/Check box.
and the custome cell will back to the regular textField.
Note that, i instantiated the attached Combo/Check box after publishing session.
I beleive probebly this couse the problem.
Any idea? please advice.
Thanks

This was registered as a bug. The rollback screws up all grid control modifications back to the default.
I get around this by my ol' rowChangeListener... the NEXT time it fires, I check to see if a "title" is correct, and if it isn't, I ReApply my grid control changes.
This doesn't fix the problem immediately, but it's better than nothing, until a patch/rev comes out from Oracle.

  • BC4J Issuing Rollback to Savepoint

    Hi we are having a serious issue with BC4J in our production environment. It issues a Rollback to Savepoint command. The database session that performs the command still has a locks in the database, specifically on the rollback segment.
    When other users then insert/update they must wait for the other session to release it's locks.
    Has anyone else encoutered a similar problem? Workarounds?
    Thanks

  • BC4J commit/rollback transaction

    I'm using the following code (copied from the complete UIX BC4J application) to delete a row:
    <event name="removeCaractGrupo">
    <bc4j:findRootAppModule name="GruposMineriosAppModule">
    <bc4j:findViewObject name="ClasseAtualCaractGrupoMinerioView">
    <bc4j:findRowByKey>
    <bc4j:keyBinding>
    <bc4j:selectionKey name="caractGruposData" key="keyCaractGrupo" />
    </bc4j:keyBinding>
    <bc4j:handlers>
    <bc4j:removeRow />
    <bc4j:executeQuery/>
    </bc4j:handlers>
    </bc4j:findRowByKey>
    </bc4j:findViewObject>
    <bc4j:commit/>
    </bc4j:findRootAppModule>
    </event>
    It works fine but if the row cannot be removed because of a constraint violation the row is still removed from the viewObjectScope and appears again only if I send a <bc4j:rollback/> command.
    The question is: is there any approach like a try/catch within the uiXML event handler??
    <ui:try>
    <contents>
    <bc4j:commit/>
    </contents>
    <ui:catch>
    <bc4j:rollback/>
    </ui:catch>
    </ui:try>
    Or do I have to call a Java class method to do this??

    There's nothing like <try>/<catch> in the event handler section. It looks like you'd need to replace the commit handler here with handcoded Java that will rollback in case the commit fails.

  • 3.2; BC4J, GridControl; Select row programatically?

    Hi,
    I need to programatically Highlighted a desired row (which i know the primary key) from a grid and scroll the grid to show this selected row in the view port area.
    Any property/way for this ?
    note that: define a WHERE clause for rowSetInfo and .executeQuery() cause to show only the qualified rows. and this is not my purpose.
    Please Advice.
    Ali

    Sathish,KKirk
    With your suggestion i wrote following code.
    It found the desired row and highlighted, but grid doesn't scroll to show this row on the view port.
    So, now how can i scroll the grid to show the row?
    try{
    ScrollableRowsetAccess systemRs = (ScrollableRowsetAccess)SystemViewRowSetInfo.getRowsetAccess();
    systemRs.absolute(1);
    do{
    ImmediateAccess iSys= (ImmediateAccess)systemRs.getColumnItem("SystemCode");
    String sSys = iSys.getValueAsString();
    if (sSys.equals(100)) {
    break;
    }while (systemRs.next());
    }catch(Exception ex){
    ex.printStackTrace();

    Hi,
    Since end user can select and change the position of columns to show on Grid by right click, How can i programmatically know which columns are currently showing on Grid and what's the sequence? i mean which one is first, which one second and..
    I need this knowledge to print the Grid.
    Please advice.

    sigh I don't have time to obfuscate my code. This chunk-o-code generates a file for rows that appear in a grid control... but it gets ALL the rows without affecting what is displayed in the grid control and without firing the rowChangeListeners in my frames. Thanks to Sathish for posting the hints that took me in the right direction.

    out.close();
    Note the nasty manual management of the buffer window. I'd love something simple like a cursor. Also note the processing of display format... I lifted the general approach from one of the DACF controls. Ugly Ugly Ugly.
    Good Luck

  • 3.2; BC4J, GridControl; ColumnHeader

    Hi,
    Needed a property to change the Font/size of the columns header in Grid.
    Thanks
    Ali

    Look at this link:
    http://codeguru.earthweb.com/java/articles/173.shtml
    He uses a setHeaderRenderer to place an image in the header.
    You could simply add something to set the font.
    Hope this helps,
    Linda

  • The thread dump has a deadlock ?

    We're experiencing a problem with the OC4J server hanging when some we unknow operation . I can see it's a connection pooling problem based on a thread dump. What I can't determine is why it doesn't release a resource in the first place. I've included some code to show where it is hung.

    About the general situation describe like following, thanks you help.
    Q1:Whether you could able to access the httpserver home page or any other application deployed in other OC4J container, when the server
    become unresponsive.
    Ans:Yes
    Q2:What are the kind of applications deployed in the OC4J container ( hrmOC4J) .
    Ans:The kind of applications is human resource application(Developer Tool is JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 and Jheadstart 9.0.5.19 and
    oracle Application server 10.1.2.0.2)
    Q3:Does server hang happen regularly or at what situation the server is becoming unresponsive ( high load, etc..)
    Ans:No,It is not regularly when when server hang happen.
    Q4:From the SR notes, the workaround you used is, restarting the OC4J container. ( what is the
    kind of Oracle Application Server instance you have installed, please let me
    know the complete version of the Oracle AS instance)
    Ans:oracle Application server 10.1.2.0.2
    Q5:Did you notice any out of memory issues when the server / particular OC4J container is hang
    Ans:No. It is not out of memory.

  • JBO-25034 Rollback bc4J/ejb

    When I run the jclient application with a local connection it runs without the specified error.
    The error only occurs when I run it connecting to the oc4j/ejb.
    I investigated a bit and have find out when it was occuring :
    I have a JTable :
    private JTable tableUsrrolView = new JTable() {
    //Override to avoid redundant setValueAt, as Combobox binding will
    //set the value on selection rightaway.
    public void editingStopped(javax.swing.event.ChangeEvent e)
    // Take in the new value
    TableCellEditor editor = getCellEditor();
    if (editor instanceof DefaultCellEditor )
    Component cellEditor = ((DefaultCellEditor)editor).getComponent();
    if (cellEditor == jComboBox1)
    removeEditor();
    return;
    else if (cellEditor == jCheckBox1)
    removeEditor();
    return;
    super.editingStopped(e);
    //Swing JTable calls this method to get the editor for a cell.
    //If the editor is the installed combobox, set selected item in the
    //combobox to the value shown in that cell and return the combobox.
    public Component prepareEditor(TableCellEditor editor, int row, int column)
    if (editor instanceof DefaultCellEditor )
    Component cellEditor = ((DefaultCellEditor)editor).getComponent();
    if (cellEditor == jComboBox1)
    this.setRowSelectionInterval(row, row);
    jComboBox1.setSelectedItem(getValueAt(row, column));
    return jComboBox1;
    return super.prepareEditor(editor, row, column);
    //and in the jbInit I do the following :
    // (if I don't execute the second line then I don't get the error JBO-27019)
    tableUsrrolView.setModel(JUTableBinding.createAttributeListBinding(panelBinding, tableUsrrolView, "UsrrolView1", null, "UsrrolView1Iter", new String[] {"Appabbr", "Rolnam", "Roldsc", "Prcmrk"}));
    jComboBox1.setModel(JUComboBoxBinding.createLovBinding(panelBinding, jComboBox1, "UsrrolView1", null, "UsrrolView1Iter", new String[] {"Appabbr", "Rolnam"}, "ApprolView", new String[] {"Appabbr", "Rolnam"}, new String[] {"AppabbrRolnam", "Rolnam", "Roldsc", "Rolpwd", "Dftmrk"}, null, null));
    tableUsrrolView.getColumnModel().getColumn(0).setCellEditor(new DefaultCellEditor(jComboBox1));
    Is there maybe a workaround to this problem?
    I have tried allready the sync(Re: Problem in Failover of Physical standby database to primary but it didn't help me.

    Could you elaborate on this please. I was able to insert a new row in a JTable with combobox and the combobox was appropriately populated and allowed me to pick a relevant row.
    sorry my mistake, i used the workaround for bug 2394583 as explained in Re: problem: Objects become invalid so easily This code was still in the program and that was causing the problem. So I removed the code : panelBinding.findIterBinding("UsrrolView1Iter").rangeRefreshed(null); And now it works again. (the bug is also fixed:)
    Good. Atleast one issue resolved.
    (Shouldn't it also popup in the bc4j/ejb implementation? This should occur when you traverse out of the row in bc4j/ejb mode. Let us know the steps to reproduce this.
    Just take the example JTableCombo, deploy it as an ejb.
    run against the ejb.
    create a record
    only populate the lov
    click on another row.
    -> you are able to get the focus on that row(and change it).
    -> there is another strange behaviour now and that is when i change the lov of the existing row, the returning values are put in the new row...)
    So also in this example the client-server implementation works fine you get:(oracle.jbo.AttrValException) JBO-27014: Attribute DepartmentId in Mypackage1Module.DepartmentsView is required
    And the focus gets back to the record you created. Lets take this afresh. Now you have a ComboBox in a JTable.
    Bc4j/AM is deployed as ejb.
    You create a new row in the table, you drop the combobox down and select some (which I do not think is relevant here) and click on another row.
    ->That allows you to change focus to another row without any exception - the expected exception is AttrValException for a mandatory field.
    DId I miss something here?
    I tried this and was unable to reproduce this. When I focused on to another row without filling in the mandatory field, I did see the AttrValException. Also the focus went back to the new row.
    I've deployed my BC4J as EJB Session bean into OC4J/Embedded

  • BC4J;3,2;ROLLBACK cache problem

    I use: JSP, EditCurrentRecord. I want the user to decide if he is going to commit or not to the database. After deciding, he views the last record he just entered, using ViewCurrentRecord.
    If the user inserts data and always commits, no problem. If he rollbacks, a new insert form is opened, where he can insert a new row and if he tries to commit now, he manages to do it allright in the database, but at the ViewCurrentRecord, he views the second from the end record in the database, not the very last one he just inserted.
    The underlying table and the EObject are the same for all VObjects.
    Any ideas what's going wrong?
    TIA.
    null

    I use local mode and I have modified the default JSP pages generated by the wizard, in order to comfort my application specific needs. I have made minor changes to the Java files of ViewCurrentRecord.
    For example, focus returns to the first record after commit when you use the default ViewCurrentRecord, so I subclassed it and used qView.last(); instead of qView.first(); (see PS). All my changes are at this level and as I said before work fine when users commit. I use the same Java files when users rollback and I have the situation I described in my first post.
    There are 4 jsp pages in the application:
    myInsertForm.jsp
    myafterSubmitInsertForm.jsp
    final.jsp
    ROLLBACK.jsp
    the "workflow" is as follows:
    myInsertForm.jsp -> myafterSubmitInsertForm.jsp -> final.jsp
    final.jsp includes following:
    <%
    String param = request.getParameter("myVO_NAVIGATE");
    if (param.equals("ROLLBACK") ){
    response.sendRedirect (response.encodeRedirectUrl("ROLLBACK.jsp"));
    else {
    %>
    It also uses a VCR bean for the user to see his last (commited to database) record entry.
    ROLLBACK.jsp includes some Javascript, plus:
    response.sendRedirect (response.encodeRedirectUrl("myInsertForm.jsp"));
    Now, if the user (redirected from ROLLBACK.jsp) repeats the above steps and commits, he doesn't see his last record in the final.jsp page, but the one before that stored already in the database from someone else at another time.
    Thanx for your time.
    PS: my custom changes to the VCR Java file are:
    use of:
    ** Row row = qView.last(); **
    ** if(row == null) row = qView.last(); **
    inside public void render(). It works fine for COMMIT.
    PS2: In order to do some redirects and keep user specific info i use through my jsp pages custom manual set session objects, don't know if that has something to do with my problem.

    no update yet. I'm gonna run the tool that is suggested, but I have no other issues with any previous patch. I thought the content of the file I added to my post would have ring a bell to somebody, who had the same problem, but it seems like I was wrong. I'll post once I run the tool suggested in the note

  • JDeveloper Team - How do I display multiple rows in a gridControl

    When I execute a SQL select statement and display the results in a gridControl only the first row gets displayed in the grid.
    Could you please give me a solution for this problem?
    null

    If this query is based on a View object, can you verify the number of rows returned in BC4J Tester ?.

  • HOWTO: Using a BC4J Application Module in an Stateless EJB Session Bean

    HOWTO: Using a BC4J Application Module in an Stateless EJB Session Bean
    by Steve Muench
    Overview
    BC4J provides automatic facilities for deploying any application module as a stateful EJB session bean. If you want to leverage the features of your BC4J application module from a stateless EJB session bean, it's not automatic but it is straightforward to implement. This howto article explains the details.
    For our example, we will create a stateless EJB session bean that uses a container-managed transaction. To keep things simple, let's assume the session bean has a single public method on its remote interface named createDepartment() with the following signature:
    public void createDepartment(int id, String name, String loc) throws AppException
    AppException is an example of an application-specific exception that our method will throw if any problems arise during its execution.The goal of this article is to illustrate how to use the BC4J application module named com.example.hr.HRApp as part of the implementation of this createDepartment method on our stateless enterprise bean. Let's assume that the HRApp application module has a view object member named Departments, based on the com.example.hr.DeptView view object, based on the familiar DEPT table and related to the com.example.hr.Dept entity object so our view can be updateable.
    Creating the Stateless Session Bean
    We can start by using the JDeveloper Enterprise Bean wizard to create a new stateless session bean called StatelessSampleEJB implemented by:[list][*]com.example.StatelessSampleEJBBean (Bean class)[*]com.example.StatelessSampleEJBHome (Home interface)[*]com.example.StatelessSampleEJB (Remote interface)[list]
    We then use the EJB Class Editor to add the createDepartment method to the remote interface of StatelessSampleEJB with the signature above. We edit the remote interface to make sure that it also reflects that the createDepartment method thows the AppException like this:
    package com.example;
    import javax.ejb.EJBObject;
    import java.rmi.RemoteException;
    public interface StatelessSampleEJB extends EJBObject {
      void createDepartment(int id, String name, String loc)
      throws RemoteException,AppException;
    }Before we start adding BC4J into the picture for our implementation, our StatelessSampleEJBBean class looks like this:
    package com.example;
    import javax.ejb.SessionBean;
    import javax.ejb.SessionContext;
    public class StatelessSampleEJBBean implements SessionBean {
      public void ejbCreate(){}
      public void ejbActivate(){}
      public void ejbPassivate(){}
      public void ejbRemove(){}
      public void setSessionContext(SessionContext ctx){
      public void createDepartment(int id, String name, String loc)
      throws AppException {
        // TODO: Implement method here
    }We can double-click on the ejb-jar.xml file in our project to see the XML deployment descriptor for the bean we just created:
    <ejb-jar>
       <enterprise-beans>
          <session>
             <description>Session Bean ( Stateless )</description>
             <display-name>StatelessSampleEJB</display-name>
             <ejb-name>StatelessSampleEJB</ejb-name>
             <home>com.example.StatelessSampleEJBHome</home>
             <remote>com.example.StatelessSampleEJB</remote>
             <ejb-class>com.example.StatelessSampleEJBBean</ejb-class>
             <session-type>Stateless</session-type>
             <transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>
          </session>
       </enterprise-beans>
    </ejb-jar>We need to add the extra <assembly-descriptor> section in this file to indicate that the createDepartment method will require a transaction. After this edit, the ejb-jar.xml file looks like this:
    <ejb-jar>
       <enterprise-beans>
          <session>
             <description>Session Bean ( Stateless )</description>
             <display-name>StatelessSampleEJB</display-name>
             <ejb-name>StatelessSampleEJB</ejb-name>
             <home>com.example.StatelessSampleEJBHome</home>
             <remote>com.example.StatelessSampleEJB</remote>
             <ejb-class>com.example.StatelessSampleEJBBean</ejb-class>
             <session-type>Stateless</session-type>
             <transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>
          </session>
       </enterprise-beans>
       <assembly-descriptor>
          <container-transaction>
             <method>
                <ejb-name>StatelessSampleEJB</ejb-name>
                <method-name>createDepartment</method-name>
                <method-params>
                   <method-param>int</method-param>
                   <method-param>java.lang.String</method-param>
                   <method-param>java.lang.String</method-param>
                </method-params>
             </method>
             <trans-attribute>Required</trans-attribute>
          </container-transaction>
       </assembly-descriptor>
    </ejb-jar>
    Aggregating a BC4J Application Module
    With the EJB aspects of our bean setup, we can proceed to implementing the BC4J application module aggregation.
    The first thing we do is add private variables to hold the EJB SessionContext and the instance of the aggregated BC4J ApplicationModule, like this:
    // Place to hold onto the aggregated appmodule instance
    transient private ApplicationModule _am  = null;
    // Remember the SessionContext that the EJB container provides us
    private           SessionContext    _ctx = null;and we modify the default, empty implementation of the setSessionContext() method to remember the session context like this:
    public void setSessionContext(SessionContext ctx){ _ctx = ctx; }We add additional constants that hold the names of the J2EE datasource that we want BC4J to use, as well as the fully-qualified name of the BC4J application module that we'll be aggregating:
    // JNDI resource name for the J2EE datasource to use
    private static final String DATASOURCE = "jdbc/OracleCoreDS";
    // Fully-qualified BC4J application module name to aggregate
    private static final String APPMODNAME = "com.example.hr.HRApp";We expand the now-empty ejbCreate() and ejbRemove() methods to create and destory the aggregated instance of the BC4J application module that we'll use for the lifetime of the stateless session bean. When we're done, ejbCreate() it looks like this:
    public void ejbCreate() throws CreateException {
      try {
        // Setup a hashtable of environment parameters for JNDI initial context
        Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
        env.put(JboContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,JboContext.JBO_CONTEXT_FACTORY);
        // NOTE: we want to use the BC4J app module in local mode as a simple Java class!
        env.put(JboContext.DEPLOY_PLATFORM, JboContext.PLATFORM_LOCAL);
        env.put(PropertyConstants.INTERNAL_CONNECTION_PARAMS,DATASOURCE);
        // Create an initial context, using this hashtable of environment params
        InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(env);
        // Lookup a home interface for the application module
        ApplicationModuleHome home = (ApplicationModuleHome)ic.lookup(APPMODNAME);
        // Using the home, create the instance of the appmodule we'll use
        _am = home.create();
        // Register the BC4J factory to handle EJB container-managed transactions
        registerContainerManagedTransactionHandlerFactory();
      catch(Exception ex) {
         ex.printStackTrace();
        throw new CreateException(ex.getMessage());
    }and ejbRemove() looks like this:
    public void ejbRemove() {
      try {
        // Cleanup any appmodule resources before getting shutdown
        _am.remove();
      catch(JboException ex) { /* Ignore */ }
    }The helper method named reigsterContainerManagedTransactionHandlerFactory() looks like this:
    private void registerContainerManagedTransactionHandlerFactory() {
      SessionImpl session = (SessionImpl)_am.getSession();
      session.setTransactionHandlerFactory(
        new TransactionHandlerFactory() {
          public TransactionHandler  createTransactionHandler() {
            return new ContainerManagedTxnHandlerImpl();
          public JTATransactionHandler createJTATransactionHandler() {
            return new ContainerManagedTxnHandlerImpl();
    }The last detail is to use the BC4J appmodule to implement the createDepartment() method. It ends up looking like this:
    public void createDepartment(int id, String name, String loc)
    throws AppException {
      try {
        // Connect the AM to the datasource we want to use for the duration
        // of this single method call.
        _am.getTransaction().connectToDataSource(null,DATASOURCE,false);
        // Use the "Departments" view object member of this AM
        ViewObject departments = _am.findViewObject("Departments");
        // Create a new row in this view object.
        Row newDept = departments.createRow();
        // Populate the attributes from the parameter arguments.
        newDept.setAttribute("Deptno", new Number(id));
        newDept.setAttribute("Dname", name);
        newDept.setAttribute("Loc", loc);
        // Add the new row to the view object's default rowset
        departments.insertRow(newDept);
        // Post all changes in the AM, but we don't commit them. The EJB
        // container managed transaction handles the commit.
        _am.getTransaction().postChanges();
      catch(JboException ex) {
        // To be good EJB Container-Managed Transaction "citizens" we have
        // to mark the transaction as needing a rollback if there are problems
        _ctx.setRollbackOnly();
        throw new AppException("Error creating dept "+ id +"\n"+ex.getMessage());
      finally {
        try {
          // Disconnect the AM from the datasource we're using
          _am.getTransaction().disconnect();
        catch(Exception ex) { /* Ignore */ }
    Building a Test Client
    With the EJB-Tier work done, we can build a sample client program to test this new stateless EJB Session Bean by selecting the bean in the Oracle9i JDeveloper IDE and choosing "Create Sample Java Client" from the right-mouse menu.
    When the "Sample EJB Client Details" dialog appears, we take the defaults of connecting to embedded OC4J container. Clicking the (OK) button generates the following test class:
    import java.util.Hashtable;
    import javax.naming.Context;
    import javax.naming.InitialContext;
    import com.example.StatelessSampleEJB;
    import com.example.StatelessSampleEJBHome;
    public class SampleStatelessSampleEJBClient {
      public static void main(String [] args) {
        SampleStatelessSampleEJBClient sampleStatelessSampleEJBClient =
           new SampleStatelessSampleEJBClient();
        try {
          Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
          env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
                  "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
          env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
          env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "welcome");
          env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,
                  "ormi://localhost:23891/current-workspace-app");
          Context ctx = new InitialContext(env);
          StatelessSampleEJBHome statelessSampleEJBHome =
               (StatelessSampleEJBHome)ctx.lookup("StatelessSampleEJB");
          StatelessSampleEJB statelessSampleEJB;
          // Use one of the create() methods below to create a new instance
          // statelessSampleEJB = statelessSampleEJBHome.create();
          // Call any of the Remote methods below to access the EJB
          // statelessSampleEJB.createDepartment( int id, java.lang.String name, java.lang.String loc );
        catch(Throwable ex) {
          ex.printStackTrace();
    }We uncomment the call to the create() method and add a few calls to the createDepartment() method so that the body of the test program now looks like this:
    // Use one of the create() methods below to create a new instance
    statelessSampleEJB = statelessSampleEJBHome.create();
    // Call any of the Remote methods below to access the EJB
    statelessSampleEJB.createDepartment( 13, "Test1","Loc1");
    System.out.println("Created department 13");
    statelessSampleEJB.createDepartment( 14, "Test2","Loc2");
    System.out.println("Created department 14");
    try {
      // Try setting a department id that is too large!
      statelessSampleEJB.createDepartment( 23456, "Test3","Loc3");
    catch (AppException ax) {
      System.err.println("AppException: "+ax.getMessage());
    }Before we can successfully run our SampleStatelessSampleEJBClient we need to first run the EJB bean that the client will try to connect to. Since Oracle9i JDeveloper supports local running and debugging of the EJB-Tier without doing through a full J2EE deployment step, to accomplish this prerequisite step we just need to right-mouse on the StatelessSampleEJB node in the System Navigator and select "Run". This starts up the embedded OC4J instance and runs the EJB right out of the current out path.Finally, we can run the SampleStatelessSampleEJBClient, and see the output of the test program in the JDeveloper log window:
    Created department 13
    Created department 14
    AppException: Error creating dept 23456
    JBO-27010: Attribute set with value 23456 for Deptno in Dept has invalid precision/scale
    Troubleshooting
    One error that might arise while running the example is that the database connection information in your data-sources.xml for the jdbc/OracleCoreDS datasource does not correspond to the database you are trying to test against. If this happens, then double-check the file .\jdev\system\oc4j-config\data-sources.xml under the JDeveloper installation home directory to make sure that the url value provided is what you expect. For example, to work against a local Oracle database running on your current machine, listening on port 1521, with SID of ORCL, you would edit this file to have an entry like this for jdbc/OracleCoreDS :
    <data-source
        class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
        name="OracleDS"
        location="jdbc/OracleCoreDS"
        xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
        ejb-location="jdbc/OracleDS"
        connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
        username="scott"
        password="tiger"
        url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:ORCL"
        inactivity-timeout="30"
    />This is the data-sources.xml file that gets used by the embedded OC4J instance running in JDeveloper.
    Conclusion
    Hopefully this article has illustrated that it is straightforward to utilize the full power of BC4J in local mode as part of your EJB Stateless Session Beans using container-managed transaction. This example illustrated a single createDepartment method in the enterprise bean, but by replicating the application module interaction code that we've illustrated in createDepartment, any number of methods in your stateless session bean can use the aggregated application module instance created in the ejbCreate() method.

    Hi Steve, It4s me again;
    About the question I made, I tried with a single assembly-descriptor tag and a single container-transaction tag in the deployment descriptor of the session bean and these were the results.
    java.lang.NullPointerException

    How can I make my Stateless Session bean work out?

  • Automatic creation of thumbnail image in BC4J App

    I have created a BC4J application using the default wizards that displays the content of the following table:
    CREATE TABLE EMPLOYEE_PHOTO (
    ID NUMBER (3) NOT NULL,
    DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2 (20),
    PIC ORDIMAGE,
    THUMB ORDIMAGE,
    EMPLOYEE_NAME VARCHAR2 (50))
    The 'browse' jsp displays the id, description and thumb image.
    The 'edit' jsp allows the user to enter the description, employee_name and upload file details for the pic image.
    I have 2 problems with the application.
    1. How do I set the 'browse' jsp to display the thumb image as an anchor tag that points to the 'edit' jsp ?. I would also like to dynamically set the hint text for the thumb image to 'employee_name' from the database table.
    2. In the 'edit' jsp I want to invoke the Intermedia processCopy method to automatically create the thumbnail image from the image file specified by the user. How do I accommodate this method into the default code ?
    Thanks in advance
    Chris

    Chris,
    Basically, you have to use the "manual" mode of the rendering instead of the "automatic" mode. The JDev Wizard
    generated JSP page uses the "automatic" mode which is hard to customize. The characteristic of the "automatic"
    mode is using the <AttributeIterate> tag to iterate through all attributes. You have to change the following JSP files
    to achieve what you wanted.
    1. DataTableComponent.jsp
    <%@ page language="java" import = "oracle.jbo.html.*, oracle.jbo.*" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/webapp/DataTags.tld" prefix="jbo" %>
    <%

  • Dynamic columns in a GridControl

    Hello all.
    I have a RowSetInfo object which holds few AttributeInfo objects. I also have a GridControl on which I want to present information from my RowSetInfo object. The problem is that I don't want all of the fields, just few of them. Is there any way I can do that? This rowsetinfo gets refreshed all the time so I don't want to build the TableModel myself all the time. I'm looking for some component which binds certain fields from a rowsetinfo into a GridControl.
    Help
    Thanks
    Liron Mandelberg

    Andrew, can you give a source code example? Where is setDisplayed(false) set on a column in a gridControl? ( NOT back at the rowset, which is often the "wrong layer" to operate at, from a real world developer standpoint? )
    Setting this sorta property at the rowset level is a general Oracle response, which seems to miss the whole point of separation of FORM an CONTROL properties from those of rowset Attributes. The idea of setting a property that is global and not overrrideable in the form ( like display, or fromat ) was roundly discredited in the 70's, I believe. grin. Sometimes feels like JDev designers are making the same mistakes and relearning everything already learned by tools makers in previous development environments. ( Including Oracle Forms! ). c'est la vie.
    Liron, I make items disappear:
    activities_gc.getTable().removeColumn(activities_gc.getTable().getColumn("LastModDate"));
    The data still remains in the table model itself, as well as the rowset... it just won't show in the particularly targetted gridcontrol.
    The catch with this is that the ROLLBACK currently resets all the stuff. ( again, the database actions should NOT impact anything at the frame/control formatting/property level unless explicitly requested by the programmer, but it does in JDev. I believe this is a BUG due to conceptual misunderstanding, I hope it is not a design philosophy! )
