300 requests per hour reading from Application scope Good/Bad idea

I am saving some html in application scope & reading with
<cflock readonly.
Will it be a problem if more than 5 requests are made per
second?
Does deadlocks occurs with readonly-cflock?
Thanks

While creating/changing application scope variables in a
lock, I think there must be an exclusive lock. You must be careful
not to set any shared variable such as application inside a read
only cflock tag.
I also would suggest to check the usage of Application.cfc
and onApplicationStart method. You can set application default
variables and constants in onApplicationStart method in your
Application.cfc.

  • REP - 300 Error while executing report from Application

    Hi,
I have report in Report Builder & for the same report form is there in Form Builder in which parameter page is designed. From application where I am calling report is internally calling form & in form Procedure Run Report is there which is calling report from Report Builder. Both report from builder & form form Builder are compiled . Also query is executing fine in Toad without error. Also all query fields are present in database.
But when I am trying to excute report from Application it is giving error as "REP - 300 Invalid Identifier " & it displays whole query.
Note - Report & it's Form are in ORACLE - 10g. Also the user through which I am executing report from application is ADMIN user , so it has executing permission.

looks like error in parameters. check out the value of variable that you are passing through to report from form. Put a messages to see variable values before execute report.

  • Peak No. Of Requests/ Per Hour in BW

Suppose my cube gives performance of 5 Sec for a given query to run.
How does one estimate, assuming Bandwidth can scaleup, at what no. of peak requests (in per Hour or Per minute or Per sec) would the BW server show considerable performance degradation in terms of longer query runtime.
How much of this can be addressed by caching? Are there situations when Cache would get corruped due to high number of request, each potentially with differnt set of variable inputs?

As you said you don't have any email accounts it isn't email. Safari can drain the battery if left on a page that automatically refreshes.
Location Services can drain the battery - if you see an arrow in the top bar near the right then there is an app running in background and using location services.
Game Center can drain the battery even when it is closed.
Streaming apps, social networking apps (facebook, yahoo, skype, etc) can also drain the battery in sleep mode.

  • Reading from application server

    Hi All,
I have a requirement wherein I need to uplaod an excel sheet which contains Material number, Plant and PO text. And accordingly update the material and plant with the given PO text. Now, if i have mat1, Plant1 and PO text given for this combination in the excl as below:
"This is the new PO Text
    Please Update it"
If the above is the PO text (with a line's gap between 2 statements), the requirement is to upload this text into application server. Then in the update program, i need to read this text for the corresponding material and plant.
The uploading is happening correctly into the app server:
Mat1     Plant1     This is the new PO Text
                               Please Update it
But while reading from the application server in the update program, the first read dataset statement reads only Mat1     Plant1     This is the new PO Text. This record is filled in the internal table meant for update. The structure of the internal table is Material, Plant, PO text.
Now the control goes to the next read dataset statement and reads text "Please Update it". This text is filled in the material column of the internal table and hence gives an error at the time of update.
The syntax used to upload into app server is :
OPEN DATASET p_path FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT
    Transfer each record
The syntax used to read from app server is :
OPEN DATASET p_path FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULTIf sy-subrc = 0.
    Do.
Read dataset p_path into v_appltxt (where v_appltxt is of type string)
    if sy-subrc = 0.
fill the internal table for update.
    Else.
    exit.
    Endif.
    Enddo.
Please help me rectify the issue at the time of reading from the app server so that the PO text(no matter how is in entered in the excel sheet) is read against the correspoding material and plant combination.
    Thanks

    Hi Jean,
READ DATASET statement will always read one line of input file at a time. Since the PO text is not continuous, Its gettng read into material number in the next fetch.
As a solution, try to keep the PO text entirely while uploading data to application server. You may have to put in logic to remove extra lines after the data is retrieved from the excel sheet to the internal table.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ejb jars not being read from application.xml

Hello. If somebody wouldn't mind reading this, I've been wrestling wiht this most of the day. I have a coupe of entity ejbs and a stateless session ejb, each packed into it's own jar. When I deploy the ear, the war deploys fine but the three ejb jar files are not read as per the application.xml. As a test, I put the jars into the default server lib directory and after I did that, the enterpise app launched as expected. I can't figure out why the server, resin 3.0.12, is not able to see these ejb jars. I've tried to add the directory after deployment to the classpath in the autoexec.bat but no dice. I've moved the ejb jars around into subdirectories and modified the application.xml accordingly but to no avail. I've also looked into the server configuration file but resin doesn't seem to have any taggings within it's ejb server tag that would dictate where the container would look for jar or class files. Does anybody have any ideas what this could be?...this is the application.xml...pretty straightforward...the ejb jars are located in the root of the ear...

Thank you very much for taking your time to read my post.

Hello. Thank you very much for the reply.
Yeah, application.xml is sitting in META-INF. The war referenced wihtin application.xml deploys fine...the container jsut seems to ignore the <module><ejb>..</ejb></module> tags when it reads the ejb deployment descriptors and tries to locate the classes. I've tried everything...shouldn't application.xml take care of all class-loader issues with the module references? Thank you again to everybody reading this or whatever.

  • Lumia 1520 Discharges 18% per hour in standby with...

When we first got 1520 6 weeks ago, battery performance was pretty good but now
    1. Lumia 1520 Discharges 18% per hour in standby with no background tasks runinng
    2. Took 1520 back to Microsoft Store and have now had 2 replacements and all behave the same
Discharge between 18 and 22% per hour - no data, no tasks running and phone not even being used

Thanks for those who replied - so the issue is now basically solved
    What we did was :
    1. Reset phone
    2. Setup phone as a new phone and did not download any of our purchased apps from Microsoft Store
    3. Voila - battery now behaves perfectly - discharge rate is 2.53% per hour - down from over 18%
    4. So although - we never had any apps runnig when the battery was discharging at 18% - we surmise that some app was behaving badly
    5. Now all we need to do is to find out which app was the culprit
Thanks again to forum members for their input

  • Application scope objects(opinions wanted)

    Hi All
Looking for educated opinions on the pros/cons of application scope objects. I am thinking about creating a read-only application scope hashmap representation of some static data in my database. When queried at the database level it can cause relatively long delays (3-4 seconds) and sometimes must be stored in many sessions on the server. I am thinking just one read-only object stored at app scope will cut down on the waste of memory, as well as skyrocket the speed of retrieving this data.
Please give me your opinions!!! I can tell you a little more about the app if you need more info to make an educated statement...
    Thanks
    Greg B

You can use the Properties Object for static data that can be persisted on a filesystem. Also, I assume that you can hold quite a bit of data too. A file read should be faster than a database query. Also if you do the connect once and save the connection for several reads, that works too. The only real slow operation, outside of large resultsets, would be the initial connect.
I always design up two or three possible solutions and sometimes I protpotype each one. Sometimes one of the tests will prove to be the exact opposite choice of the one you thought would work.
Now that I have written your response, I think that you could create a custom class to hold data, but would that not just be a copy of the properties object. If it's key/value you need, that's the choice.
Stand back and ask, "What is the data type of the high level objects?"
Also, SUN has good articles on almost everything in the JDK.

  • Can not be read from or written to

OK, so I've had my Gen 3 for several years, I recently restored it and formated it for my windows machine to transfer some files from my windows to my Mac.
Upon restoring it back and refortmatting it to Mac, I learned that it now gives me an error message when adding playlists that says:
"this ipod can not be read from, or written to"
any idea what that is all about?

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting document? It may be of some help: "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod

  • Accessing Application Scope from an EJB

I'm not sure of the best way of doing this:
    The set up:
We have a rather large J2EE application that is composed of only servlets and JSPs at the moment (When the application began development EJB was in its infancy and not feasible for the development of the app). Some of the new deployments of the app involve distributed webserver over 4 JVMs and 2 machines. When a user connects the servers load balancing decides which particular JVM they should be connected to. We perform large data caching into the servlet application scope to avoid having to access the database every time a change is made by a user to certain tables in our database. The data caches are stored in hashtables in the servlet application scope. We seem to have no way to determine what other JVMs are running or which JVM a user is currently connected to.
    The problem:
Apparently the application scope is for a particular JVM. This means that when a user makes a change to a data cache the change doesn't effect users in the other 3 JVMs of the application, only the users who, due to load balancing, happened to be connected to the same JVM as the one where the change was made.
    Our possible solution:
We were thinking that we could set up a queue (such as MQSeries from IBM) and any time a change is made to one of these data caches put a message on the stack saying that the particular table had been updated. Then a MDB would be listening asynchronously and digest the message from the Queue and recache the tables from the database.
    So here are my questions:
    1. Would this work? Would putting a MDB in the EJB Container give each JVM the MDB in the first place, or would this mean it would pick one of the JVMs to deploy the MDB on and still not fix our problem.
    2. If this does work, how do I access the hashtables stored in the Servlet Application scope from the MDB. I can't seem to find any method available to the MDB (or any EJBs for that matter) that can access the servlets Application scope.
    3. Is this the best way to do this? Or is there a better way to share data between seperate JVMs that I don't have a URL to (It's all ambiguous and handled by the server as to which JVM actually gets the connection.)
Just in case this is needed:
We are running IBM WebSphere 5 Application Server and the database could be anything from DB2 to Oracle.
Thanks in advance for any possible help.

You wont get any api for directly accessing Servlet application objects from any ejb. I dont think MDB either solves your problem directly. Indirectly you can place a request to some servlet (should be there for each JVM and web application ) and update your application scope variable. I would suggest you to cache the data in database if the size of cache is large. otherwise any open caching tools may help you.

  • Difference between "Physical Read Total IO Requests Per Sec" and "Physical Read IO Requests Per Sec"

What is the difference between "Physical Read Total IO Requests Per Sec" and "Physical Read IO Requests Per Sec" metrics in dba_hist_sysmetric_summary?

From docs (Reference, Statistics Descriptions)   :
physical read IO requests : Number of read requests for application activity (mainly buffer cache and direct load operation) which read one or more database blocks per request. This is a subset of "physical read total IO requests" statistic.
physical read total IO requests : Number of read requests which read one or more database blocks for all instance activity including application, backup and recovery, and other utilities.

  • About the read from http request, I think it is a bug in weblogic

    Hi guys,
sorry for the previous post, I press the wrong button, I didn't finished yet.
I have experienced a problem when I try to read from http request in a web application.
    the following is my code:
    InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(new URL("www.myhost.com").openStream(),"8859_1");
    BufferedReader bfr = new BufferedReader(isr);
    String request = "";
    while((request = bfr.readLine()) != null)
    stringGotFromServer += request;
the problem is it always hang in there when BufferdReader reach the end.
but in java specification, BufferedReader should reture null if reaching the
    end.
Does anyone have any good idea for that?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I think if you follow the instructions as given in the example you will not have any problems.
    here are the instructions below
"This example code demonstrates one technique of handling test failures.
If this step fails, a dialog will be displayed giving options to Break, Terminate, or Retry.
The On Fail Post Action calls the HandleTestFailure sequence which is
another sequence in this sequence file.
The sequence file has the SequenceFilePreStep Callback overridden where
the initial statue of Runstate.SequenceFailed is stored in a local variable. Create a local variable in your sequence called SequenceAlreadyFailed which is a boolen.
To use this in your sequence file:
    1. Copy the HandleTestFailure sequence to your sequence file.
    2. For a step to use this, you
must set the On Fail Post Action to call the
    HandleTestFailure sequence.
    3. Override the PreStepCallback.
    4. Copy the step from this example's PreStepCallback to yours.
    5. Copy the TestFailureDialog.* files to the same directory as your sequence file.

    1) WHAT if I juse JUST ONE Adobe program pretty often?
They have a single use subscription for $20/mo.  Similar to upgrading extended version every 1.5 years.
    2)  WHAT if I created projects like 2 months ago and I didn't use Photoshop for a full month.  Who assures us that with the CC series the projects are opened with the old CS ones?Or don't use it every day?
Same problem if you own it.  If upgrade price is $400 every 1.5 year that is same as $16/month.  You can choose not to update and version will be same as when you last used it.
    3) WHAT if I don't use Adobe 24/7?  and 5) Making an day-based subscription??  Same problem if you own it.  If upgrade price is $400 every 1.5 year that is same as $16/month.
    4) Adobe, do you think to be the only one making these softwares?
Competition is always a factor in market.
    6) After all this mess, you discriminate Europeans, too?
Taxes charged by Governments and municipalities are not controlled by Adobe.

    Hello Achates:
I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.
