3000 N200 0687-75B recovery

Hi, My recovery disc has been damaged. Now, how can I get another? Is there any download facility?

Contact Lenovo phone support. They should be able to provide recovery discs for your N200.

  • Sound Problems 3000 N200 0687

    Hi,
Have Lenovo 3000 N200 0687 dual booting Win XP Home and Ubuntu Linux.
Sound works fine with Ubuntu, but not with Win XP.
Downloaded driver fron Lenovo site 65aw07ww.exe  unpacked it and can run installer, which initialises and
then presents message -   "Driver Installation Failed : Could not find MEDIA device for this driver"
Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong ?  Wouldn't worry, but need to use Windows Movie Maker for a friend
and this will not work without a sound device.
This machine also has an optical drive that ceased to exist (in both Win XP and Ubuntu) once drive was partitioned (from new), so am wondering about the wisdom of ever purchasing it. No one can fix this problem, am hoping that the sound issue is not another non fixable, but I may be doing something incorrectly.
    Many Thanks in advance
    Take Care

    Hi,
Machine has been back to Lenovo service, came back with Vista installed. Don't really want Vista, but ... partitioned drive no more CD/DVD drive.Installed Ubuntu , no drive in eitherVista or Ubuntu. Doesn't show in  device manager in either system.
Lenovo sent a set of recovery CD's, they won't install, get 3 parts of the way through and give error message.
Did a fresh install  from a legal copy of Win Xp, CD/DVD drive worked fine, partitioned drive, no more CD/DVD drive not showing.
Installed Ubuntu , same result. Will look at bootable disks to install operating systems but   doesn't show in Device manager.
Have learned to live with this, plug in an external CD/DVD drive,  and apart from the previously mentioned job, (Win Movie player), would just as soon leave Windows alone, would like the sound to work for a little while. It does work in Ubuntu.
Nothing shows in Device manager as not working correctly in Sound and Video controllers.
Have not removed any drivers after fresh install of Win XP, no sound after install (understandable)  , so downloaded the driver from Lenovo site, this will not install.  Starts the installer and then can't find the MEDIA to install.  I am fortunate , I have 2 Desktop machines I built, and have all the drivers for all included hardware on disk not the cheap and nasty "Recovery" system. Would never buy another Lenovo I am afraid.
    Many thanks
    Take Care

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 Laptop (0687-75B) has no DVD-RW drive detected under SATA in Vista Ultimate.

I use the Windows Vista Ultimate DVD (with Auto-activation) to install OS on the Lenovo 3000 N200 Laptop, however, no DVD-RW drive after successful OS installation. I have try both compatibility or AHCI mode but the same result occurs. (Both Windows updated and Lenovo update OK)
When I install Windows Ultimate with choosing internet activation, DVD-RW drive can be found.
    Anybody has idea?

    Hi Duck3,
Thankyou for the website. I actually went on this one: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2006/02/22/troubleshoot-fix-laptop-video-problems/
Check out the Laptop LCD screen is solid white color example. This is what happens to my screen and sometimes the 2nd example happens also. I'm also thinking its the cable because whenever it does happen, I find that adjusting the position of the lid (opening the lid and closing the lid) fixes the problem. Also, one example on the other website said to try touch around the borders of the screen and see what happens - Touching around the borders does nothing.
    I'm thinking cable.
I will try replace the cable after I buy new hinges and let you know how I go.
    Thanks,
    Dean.S

The only other option, before calling service and ordering recovery disks, is to try the Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair diskette. And yes, a floppy drive will be required.

  • Lenovo 3000 n200 Type: 0769 game graphics problem

    Hi,
I have a Lenovo 3000 n200 Type 0769 laptop which served me well at university with my 3D modelling in SolidWorks for my projects. However, when I tried to run games on it, the games always crash, even on a very low setting graphics setting which is extremely frustrating. The only game I have managed to run successfully with no problems is Football Manager (providing I dont use the 3d game play as when I do, like all other games I have tried, it crashes.). What do I need to upgrade to successfully run games on my laptop and also, (if it is only a new graphics card that is required) where can I find out which cards are compatible with my laptop?
Running games is the only problem I am finding with the laptop and any help anyone can give me will be very much appreciated as I see a few other people who have posted in the forum have had the same problem with no luck with help on here.
    Cheers.
    - Pete
PS. The games I have tried running with no success include; The Sims 2, Lord Of The Rings - Battle For Middle Earth 1 & 2, Command & Conquer Generals, Command & Conquer 3 and Warhammer Dawn Of War

I don't know about the desktops, but Lenovo laptops are the worst I have ever used. I have had mine nearly a year and the amount of problems I have had with it is rediculous, along with this problem, the hard drive has broken and needed to be replaced, the finger print scanner is broken and does not recognise the only finger prints that have been registered on the laptop, and now it has broken again and i cannot get passed the rescue and recovery screen. NO ONE should buy this laptop or any lenovo laptops like it, they are unbelievably unreliable!

  • 3000 n200 Optical Drive problems

    Hi all.
I have a Lenovo 3000 N200  MT0687, that has NEVER had a properly working optical drive.
Purchased this machine, was on display, and they had lost the box, and no one knew the password on it, so formatted and installec Win XP. The optical drive will install Win XP and other operating systems, but once installed
will NOT look at any other Discs. Data, DVD's,  music CD's Will not see a blank cd/dvd so can't write to cd.
Have tried Ubuntu 8.04 with exactly the same result.
Everything else works fine on both WinXP and Linux. Optical Drive doesn't show in either.
I have been in touch with the Lenovo service centre on a number of occasions, and have had different answers
each time,  everything from updating the bios, to installing drivers. Nothing worked. Have been told my problem,  "original
image" not still on it. See below re re-installing said image with recovery cd's.
Lenovo sent me a new optical drive, a different make to the original, no change, still no
drive showing anywhere on XP. (Or ubuntu 8.04, I appreciate there is no support for Linux)
Lenovo even sent me a set of recovery discs(3), which I installed (after formatting, several times with bios set to both AHCI and Compatability) using both the internal and an external USB connected optical drive. Same result, system boots to "Welcome to Vista etc, then shutting down logging off, only to re-boot to the same place ad infinitum. In short  "recovery discs" did not recover. Get error message randomly when this happens "Side Bar error The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000189) " Click OK to terminate, but is too fast, and terminates itself.
Machine was sent to Selectron for checkout, told "Nothing wrong with it", but the Optical Drive working at last.
Partitioned Vista, (Shrunk Partition to 45gig) installed another operating system on new partition, can boot into both  systems
and recovery, working fine, but now no Optical Drive again.
Rang Lenovo again, informed them, and queried possibilty of buying a Win XP recovery disc, told drive will only work with
Vista, so waste of funds to get a Win XP recovery disc that may or may not work properly.
Am I missing an obscure driver, or will the drive only perform all it's functions running Vista
(which the recovery discs will not install properly)?. If this is the case shouldn't it (the fact that it needs Vista)
be mentioned at point of sale. Does this breach the Anti trust laws? I am afraid I am getting very fed up, would be nice not to have to carry around an external optical drive, that needs a power supply,  so if anyone has any ideas I would be extremely appreciative, would even consider naming y first born after them. Will post my problem on the Ubuntu lists again, hoping for resolution. Seems that it's a retty basic expectation that  CD drives just work. This should be a machine that can have software installed on it. Have 2 towers (1 dual boot) that have had a few optical drives changed with never any problems.
Thanks in advance. Any ideas very much appreciated.
    Winton

What a terrible service from Lenovo. Well after many phone calls to what turned out to be a call centre in Romania. and after being promised a replacement drive day after day one finally turned up. Even after fully explaining what I needed I was sent the wrong drive they sent me a DVD Rom and not the DVD Rewriter that was in my original laptop. The same Romanians have promised me the correct one on Monday. I will wait and see. I have little faith in Lenovo and their whole very poor support network. Quite frankly the drive should never have broken in  only 3 weeks and after only approx 8 uses.
I wonder what will turn up

  • Vista to XP Driver and Software install N200 0687

Here's a guide I wrote up while I installed XP onto my laptop, it's been used by a few of my friends. It's specifically for the N200 0687 A31 but as a general guide it's best to install drivers and software in chronological order based on the date of the files on the lenovo site.
XP doesn't recognize the hard drive under AHCI so first enter the bios by
pressing F1 at boot and enter the Bios so you can change the SATA
Controller Mode from "AHCI" to "Compatibility". While your there make sure
in the boot order the CDrom is first. Put XP disk in drive and reboot.
Delete the Vista install.(If you want to delete the hidden partition and you're smart you've generated recovery disks in case Vista service packs make it worth reinstalling)
Install XP and Service Pack 2
Read the text file associated with each driver to know how to deal with each extracted
package, and note the directory the files are extracted to. Cancel any "Hardware
Update Wizard" windows that pop up.
    Install in the following order:
65vg09ww.exe         Display (Intel X3100) driver - that looks better.
65sa02ww.exe         AHCI driver - find the three .inf files and right click
and select install. Probably not all are necessary.
Never mind. During any of the many ensuing reboots
you can enter the Bios and change
"Compatibility" back to "AHCI", and the first boot
device back to the hard drive. Towards the end of
this driver installation list ever boot will result in
only one “Hardware Update Wizard” opening. Instead
of canceling it manually direct the Wizard to select
the best driver from the "AHCI" folder where it will
select and install the "Intel(R) 82801HEM/IBM SATA
                                    AHCI Controller"
65ch04ww.exe         Intel chipset support 6 - Worth doing early if your installing

    65tp04ww.exe         TouchPad (Synaptics) driver
662m02ww.exe         Wireless LAN (Intel abgn) driver - If your wireless

    > and why can i make the picture light
I dont know what you mean by picture light!!!
If you want to use all Fn keys you will need different tools and utilities.
For example the FN+F3/F4 will not work if the power saver was not installed.
Also the FN+F5 will not work if display device change utility will be not installed.
As you can see, several applications are needed if you want to use the FN keys!!!
But as the above user has suggested already, the XP drivers are not available.
Maybe you can use some appellations designed fro another notebook series but this is only a tiny hope.

  • 3000 N200 installs everything to C drive - no room left.

Hi folks. I have registered in an effort to help a friend who owns a Lenovo 3000 N200 ; the problem is that drive C (system partition, 29 Gb) is now completely full (just over 100 mb left) - whilst  drive E (82Gb, data partition) is virtually empty ; my friend can no longer download photos etc., and the normal operation of windows will soon be compromised.
Is it safe to delete partition D, and then extend C using the unallocated space  ? If so, would it be safer to use XP to do this, or a third party product such as Partition Magic ? I am concerned that the absence of drive/partition C might cause the  recovery options to become non functioning - would this be the case do you think ?
As an added layer of complication, my friend is Hungarian, the laptop was purchased in Hungary, and therefore the installed language is Hungarian - I don't know a single word of the language, and don't see him very often.I'm guessing it isn't possible to install another language, and so would consider the use of a bootable partitioning utility of some sort ( in English!).
If anyone has any observations or advice, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

    Tedco21, welcome to the forum.
The D: partition is where the Recovery data is stored.  If you made the Recovery disks and know that they work, you can eliminate it.  In fact, on new systems there is an option to do it in the Recovery Manager.  I use external hard drives to store all of my data.  This helps reduce the load on C:\.

  • Connecting my 3000 n200 laptop to CRT TV

I am wanting to connect my 3000 n200 laptop to my TV, I know my laptop has a 7 pin svideo socket and a VGA socket, am I right in saying that a 7pin svideo to 3 rca cable,  will that connect to the TVs  Yellow, red, and white socket and is there anything I need to do to the Laptop or will it just work when the cable is connected.
    Thanks Graeme

sorry, I have already started erasing the drive, because I wasted a lot of time trying to fix this without erasing it. none of the keys worked for me except F1 (thankfully), so I could enter BIOS and change the boot order. I used the software UltraISO (free to try) to burn the ISO image for HDFT on the USB. but when I try to boot from it, I get some options for which I don't know the answer, so I left without answering them, then it throws some errors and shows me the menu, then I did quick and full test both of which completed successfully (it doesn't clearly say passed though, just says operation completed successfully and gives some status code). finally I chose the "erase disk" for low level formatting, because I didn't want to waste any more time on this. hopefully I should be able to boot from the recovery CD after this and if I can't, then I have to pay someone for repairing it (I can probably buy a new one with the cost of repair). I checked the Lenovo site and it says there are no service offerings for this model. this laptop hasn't been reliable to me ever since I bought it. the battery is dead as well and I need to order a new one. right now I am using it without the battery.

  • 3000 n200 stuck on start up screen help!

Hello, I am a total technophobe so have not got a clue how to solve the problem I am having with my 3000 n200. On booting up the machine it is simply getting stuck on the start up screen telling me to 'please wait' for hours without progressing to the stage where I am asked for my password. Have run the rescue and recovery package and the CPU multi core test returned a misconfigured result, and my symbios standards test failed, any ideas if this is the cause of the problem, and if so what I need to do to repair the fault? All help great fully received.

    hi Rjh1982,
            Welcome to Lenovo Community!
Can we try booting in safemode.
Turn the computer on but keep on tapping F8 right after you press the power.
You will be given a list of options and try Choosing Safe Mode
If it worked ok try Performing a clean boot to isolate the issue
    Hope this helps,

  • Start problem whit 3000 N200 Cel

    A year ago I bouth a 3000 N200 for my daugther.
It has consistenly showed a very specific error - in the start up it goes directly to the Recovery screen... but nothing happens for houers.
Each time i have made a complete reinstall, and the computer has been running for a period until the same error occurs again.
After it happened numerous times I began keeping an eye on what lead up to the error - and finally discoverd its happens each time the battery has discharged completely! As long as theres a little power left on the battery its all fine - but after discharge i cannot boot up the machine correctly... it seems to lock on the Recovery splash screen.
    Could soemone please help?!

    Problem Solved.
The flashing LED is not listed in the manual but it means that the Laptop doesn't like the charger (they talk to each other via the center pin).  I have tried another charger and it functions perfectly so it was just a cheap charger of eBay at fault.
Oh and with the new charger it starts without a battery.
Hopefully one day this info will help someone else.
    Thanks All

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 - Blue Screen during Startup

I have a 3000 N200 laptop running Windows XP which has begun showing a blue screen error then restarting during startup.
When turned on, it shows the Lenovo logo page then a page saying Windows did not start successfully last time. When I choose to start Windows in both normal and safe modes, the XP startup screen comes up then a blue screen flashes up for 1/2 a second then it restarts. I disabled restart due to system failure and read the error code, details are below:
    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
    Technical Information:
    *** STOP: 0x000000ED
    (0x86F5F030, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Choosing to start with command prompt loads files up to...system32\drivers\mup.sys,  then freezes and restarts.
I have tried to enter the rescue and recovery using the LenovoCare button and F11, but this begins to load then freezes on the first screen.
I rang Lenovo and they sent recovery discs but these have not worked, bringing up the Rescue and Recovery first screen with the Boot CD and freezing as with the LenovoCare/F11 buttons.
I will be ringing Lenovo again tomorrow but any advice in the meantime would be much appreciated.

Before I inserted the new harddrive I disconnected the the power supply and akku as mentioned.
I started the Laptop and after the message mouse initialized the System hangs... So I have no chance to get the Boot Menu to install the Operating System...
First I thought, might be a problem with the harddisk itself but I've run a full harddrive scan with serveral tools also from Samsung itself but all reported that the haddrive should work fine...
Next thing I did was a Bios update to the newest available version, which does not solved the problem.
Another Idea I got was installing another harddrive this time also a Samsung with 250GB but instead of 7200rpm it had 5400rpm that drive worked fine...
So I wonder if the Lenovo 3000 N200 does not support harddrives with a speed of 7200rpm???
    best regards

I once had a "wake" key stuck on a keyboard, and the computer kept re-booting!
I thought maybe the "one touch restore" button, or one of the F key could
    be stuck partially down.
Your computer problem is very strange, have not heard of that one before.
    Sorry to be no help.

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 BIOS problem

Hello everybody! I'm a new entry in the forum, but i am a 6 year old user of a Lenovo 3000 N200 (0769) and i am very happy with its services so far! However, after a format that i make, i saw a BIOS update for this model, so i decide to install it. But the result wasn't the οne that i wish for. My poor laptop now when i try to open i can see just a black screen and nothing else. Although, i can hear the fan and the LEDs of the AC, HDD are light up (HDD's led is off after while). The laptop has got Windows XP 32bit.
I think i must recover the old BIOS, but i would like to see your suggestions and anwsers first.
    Thank you.

    Hi LongBeacher,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your N200 is displaying black screen when tried to turn ON after updating the BIOS, Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer. Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer, check if the display is working also check if the computer display is working in External display.
