4000. + a question re external files.

Hey folks, seeing as I hang here most, I figure it's the best place for my 4000th post on Adobe Forums (get a life!).
Does anyone have a little tutorial on passing the rendered photos to an external file? I want it inside a normal plugin, not as a post process action.
It's for an entirely personal project, passing images to ffmpeg to have my timelapse movies created with an export from Lightroom.

Joy.
It works...
The movie sucked because 2 images were at 1080X720, with the rest at 1280x720 causing a bit of shoehorning. All fine now...
Here's the (probably sucky) code: (please note the comment in the middle, if anyone knows the answer to that, please pipe up!)
function ffmpegFilterProvider.postProcessRenderedPhotos( functionContext, filterContext )
     local renditionOptions = {
          plugin = _PLUGIN,
          renditionsToSatisfy = filterContext.renditionsToSatisfy,
          filterSettings = function( renditionToSatisfy, exportSettings )
               -- This hook function gives you the opportunity to change the render
               -- settings for each photo before Lightroom renders it.
          end,
     for sourceRendition, renditionToSatisfy in filterContext:renditions(renditionOptions) do
          -- Wait for the upstream task to finish its work on this photo.
          local success, pathOrMessage = sourceRendition:waitForRender()
          if success then
-- take the file path and image size
-- because this is for me, I know the files have to have the same crop, so taking it from the final
-- rendered file is okay. If someone wants to suggest how we know the file is the final one to render, then
-- I could simply call that one, rather than calling LrPathUtils and LrPhotoInfo each render
          ffmpegPath=LrPathUtils.parent(pathOrMessage)
          movieSize=LrPhotoInfo.fileAttributes(pathOrMessage)
                         end
     end
     local params = {}
     local movie={}
      table.insert( movie, ffmpegPath)
      table.insert( movie, "/")
      table.insert( movie, filterContext.propertyTable.moviename)
     local movieString = table.concat( movie, "" )
                    if WIN_ENV == true then
                        table.insert( params, '"ffmpeg.exe"')
                    else
                        table.insert( params, '"ffmpeg"')
                    end
                    table.insert( params, "-r " .. filterContext.propertyTable.fr ) --Frame Rate
                    table.insert( params, "-b " .. filterContext.propertyTable.dr ) --Bit Rate
                    table.insert( params, "-i " ..ffmpegPath.."/%03d.jpg" ) --Type of Sequence, in this case in the form 001
                    table.insert( params, "-s " ..movieSize.width.."x"..movieSize.height ) --Movie Size
                    table.insert( params, "" .. movieString ) --Movie path and filename
                    -- combine params into one string with a space inbetween
                    local execString = table.concat( params, " " )
                    log:trace(execString)
                    local result = LrTasks.execute( execString )
                    log:trace( "The result is: " .. result );
                         if ( result ~= 0 ) then
                             log:trace( "ERROR: " .. result )
                         end
end

  • Preloader for External file Template question

    I used the CS5 Flash templates>sample files>preloader for external file, to create my preloader.
    The problem is that when the preloader is done and my SWF is loaded, my SWF has already started playing.
    It is an animation that builds for 200 frames then buttons appear. By the time the SWF appears it has already gotten to the button frame.
    Depending on connection speed I have caught the animation building.
    Is there some action script I should put in my preloader or the first frame of my SWF to pause play?
    Here is the preloader action:
    var contentLoader:Loader;
    loadContent("stage002.swf");
    function loadContent(url:String):void {
        contentLoader = new Loader();
        contentLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, loading);
        contentLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, contentLoaded);
        contentLoader.load(new URLRequest(url));
    function contentLoaded(evt:Event):void {
        //Optionally change to a clip holder and set progressbar visibility.
        addChild(contentLoader);
    function loading(evt:ProgressEvent):void {
        var loaded:Number = evt.bytesLoaded / evt.bytesTotal;
        setBarProgress(loaded);
    function setBarProgress(value:Number) {
        progressbar.bar.scaleX = value;
    Thanks in advance!

    put a stop() on the first frame of your external swf in an otherwise empty first frame.  when preloading is complete apply a play() to your loader's content cast as a movieclip:
    function contentLoaded(evt:Event):void {
        //Optionally change to a clip holder and set progressbar visibility.
        addChild(contentLoader);
    MovieClip(contentLoader.content).play();

  • Reading the Blob and writing it to an external file in an xml tree format

    Hi,
    We have a table by name clarity_response_log and content of the column(Response_file) is BLOB and we have xml file or xml content in that column. Most probably the column or table may be having more than 5 records and hence we need to read the corresponding blob content and write to an external file.

    What was wrong with the previous answers given on your other thread:
    Export Blob data to text file(-29285-ORA-29285: file write error)
    If there's a continuing issue, stay with the same thread, don't just ask the same question again and again, it's really Pi**es people off and causes confusion as not everyone will be familiar with what answers you've already had. You're just wasting people's time by doing that.
    As already mentioned before, convert your BLOB to a CLOB and then to XMLTYPE where it can be treated as XML and written out to file in a variety of ways including the way I showed you on the other thread.
    You really seem to be struggling to get the worst possible way to work.

  • Problem writing external file to externally mounted disk in Windows

    Folks,
    I've got a puzzling problem with a simple OWB mapping where I'm dumping the contents of a table to an external file.
    Versions are OWB v 11.2.0.2 64-bits on Oracle RDBMS 11.2.0.2 Windows 2007 64-bits Enterprise Server.
    When the external files module is hooked up to a location that points to a local disk and directory on the OWB-server, everything works fine - files are created and written.
    When the external files module is hooked up to a location that points to a mounted disk on another Windows 2007 64-bits Enterprise Server, I get +"Invalid Path for target file, check if connector is deployed correctly".+
    The "File System Location Path" in OWB is set to "N:" (no slashes either way). "Test Connection" reports OK.
    I've given both the Oracle os-user and "Everyone" (for good measure) all rights on the mounted disk, and I can see that the generated package code is using the correct Directory, and the Directory Path is the correct one on the server. The mounted disk (N:) should appear as a local disk to Oracle as far as I can see. I'm able to create and delete files on the disk using command line on the OWB/DB-server.
    I'm scratching my head on this one....

    then mapped that share as a network drive (N:) on server A (the OWB/DB-server)I think that problem was with different accounts used for run Oracle database (usually database instance run under SYSTEM account) and which you used to map share (it was interactive session). Even when you made this map persistent (enable "Reconnect at logon" option during mapping) you don't grant access to this drive to other accounts (including SYSTEM ) - this drive will not be visible to other users.
    I think it is possible to create "persistent" network drive mapping for Oracle database context with specification non-SYSTEM account (domain or server local) for running Oracle database instance (and Oracle Listener service).
    Also it seems there is a workaround to access mapped network drive under SYSTEM account:

  • Opening an external file containing javascript code

    I'm trying to develop a PDF in two languages. When pushing a button, all questions and list-of-values for possible answers should be translated.
    I created and initialized several variables with the two language phrases with javascript. Everything is inside my code.
    Is there anyway that when a button is pressed an external file is read, bringing that javascript code for questions ans list-of-values? My concern is that currently I have a duplicated code, but if I want to implement three, four languages it will grow without control.
    This is an example I wrote in my code:
    var TxtAuxL1ESP = new Array();
    var TxtAuxL1ING = new Array();
    TxtAuxL1ESP[0]=", como ";
    TxtAuxL1ING[0]=", such as ";
    TxtAuxL1ESP[1]=": el último año ha obtenido ";
    TxtAuxL1ING[1]=": last year it obtained ";
    TxtAuxL1ESP[2]="%, en los últimos tres años ";
    TxtAuxL1ING[2]="%, in the last three years ";
    TxtAuxL1ESP[3]="% y en los últimos cinco años ";
    TxtAuxL1ING[3]="% and in the last five years ";
    if (P1.BtnIdioma.border.edge.stroke == "raised") {
        var TxtAuxL1=TxtAuxL1ESP;
        var TxtAuxL2=TxtAuxL2ESP;
        var TxtAuxL3=TxtAuxL3ESP;
    else {
        var TxtAuxL1=TxtAuxL1ING;
        var TxtAuxL2=TxtAuxL2ING;
        var TxtAuxL3=TxtAuxL3ING;
    What I was thinking is to store TxtAuxL1ING in one file, TxtAuxL1ESP in another file and read them from my javascript code inside the PDF. Is it possible?
    Regards
    JC

    Hi,
    maybe this solution ist interesting for you.
    It populates form fields with data read from an attached XML file.

  • Hyperlink in WebI document to open external files

    Hi all,
    I'm creating a WebI 3.0 document in Infoview and would like to know if it is possible to create a hyperlink on a drill down WebI report which will then open external file formats like PDF, TIFF, JPEG or etc. The external files reside outside BOE and they're in another system in DocuFlo.
    If yes, how can we do so? I've tried OpenDoc but got to realize that it doesn't work for external files. Is there a workaround for this?
    Hope my question is not too confusing. Thanks in advance.

    Yes Kuldeep, I could.
    But the situation that I have now is - the object that is carrying the data will open the relevant external document stored on the server.
    e.g. [State] is a dimension in my universe and the data could be US, UK and NY.
    When I activate the drill and click on US, it should open the US document. (http://servername/US.pdf)
    When I click on UK, it should open the UK document (http://servername/UK.pdf)
    My problem now is, when I click on any of the states, it opens the same document (http://servername/US.pdf). I'm running out of idea and solution
    Many many Cheers~

  • Accesing external files in ME

    Hi,
    I would like to read and write "external" files in a midlet. I mean, I want to be able to create a text file on a PC, transfer it to the phone, and read it (and vice versa).
    I know there is JSR-75. I even found an example:
    [Java Tips - How to Access Local File Systems from J2ME devices using FileConnection API|http://www.java-tips.org/java-me-tips/midp/how-to-access-local-file-systems-from-j2me-devices-using-fileconnectio-2.html]
    It works on Netbeans, but it doesn't work in my phone. The midlet just present a white form and doesn't do anything.
    I think the problem is with permissions. The example includes the following "In order to overcome security issues MIDlet needs to include requested file permission in its JAD file under MIDLet-Permission property."
    I know how to edit the JAD file in Netbeans. My question is what is the value given to the property? Is there any other way to give permissions to the midlet in order to read and write files?
    Thanks

  • Links to external files don't work

    Hello
    Using RH 8.02 and converting linked Word docs (Word 2002) to WebHelp. These are policies and procedures that reference external documents.
    In my Word doc I have a hyperlink to an external document. This doc is on a network server. In Word I added the hyperlink and it appeared as a relative path, such as ../RelatedDocs/RelDoc1.doc.
    The referenced file is an external file, and I don't want to add it to RH because it may be updated; I just want to link to it so that a user gets the latest version.
    When I update the HTML files in RH I see this in my HTML file:
    <a href="file:////terminus/avbase_techsupport/av-base documents/supportmaster/documentationshare/relateddocs/reldoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
    This is the correct absolute path for the referenced file. Note the file://// prefix, with four forward slashes.
    When I generate WebHelp, the link doesn't work. Nothing happens.
    I tried the following:
    1. Copied the whole path into my Windows Start > Run box and hit Enter. Nothing happens.
    2. Removed two of the forward slashes and copied it again into the Run box. Now the file opens in Word.
    I also tried removing the hyperlinks from the Word docs and adding them through RH instead. Same result.
    Why does RH add four forward slashes to the prefix? What can I do to get these external links working?
    Thanks for your help.
    Roger Shuttleworth
    London, Canada

    Hello Peter
    I apologize for taking so long to respond. I just received a new computer with Vista and have had to set it up. Here is what happens:
    1. In Word, I have a doc policy1.doc that contains a hyperlink to reldoc1.doc. The two files are in different folders. When I insert the link, Word shows it as a relative path ../RelatedDocs/reldoc1.doc. When I hover over it in the Word doc, it shows as an absolute path starting with file:///\\theserver, etc.
    2. My RH project includes policy1.doc but not reldoc1.doc. I update policy1.doc in RH. In the HTML topic file (HTML view) the link is:
    <a href="file:////theserver/path/reldoc1.doc">Link text</a>. Note the four forward slashes.
    3. I save all project files and generate WebHelp.
    4. In the resultant web page (in Firefox), I click the link in policy1 and nothing happens. The status bar shows the path the same as above.
    5. I navigate to the output !SSL! and find the index page, and open it in Internet Explorer 8. The link shows in the status bar as file://theserver/path/reldoc1.doc, and when clicked IE opens the Word doc.
    So in this case Firefox doesn't open the link but IE does.
    Here is another scenario:
    1. I have no links in myWord docs.
    2. I generate topic files in RH using the linked Word docs.
    3. In RH, in the HTML file for policy1 (policy1.htm) I add a link to reldoc1.doc. I choose the file protocol. RH asks me if I want to copy the doc into the project folder, and I say No.
    4. I check the HTML for policy1.htm and see that it has the link as follows:
    <a href="file://J:/Documents/rest of folder path/RelDoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
    (Going to Hyperlink Properties shows the same path.) Note the two forward slashes.
    5. I save all files in the project and click Generate Primary Layout (which is WebHelp). A dialog asks if I want to update <some file or other, but I can't see which one because that darned dialog box is too small, but I expect it's policy1.htm>.
    6. I say No. The output is generated and I view it in Firefox. The link works and has a path in the status bar as:
    <a href="file://J:/Documents/rest of folder path/RelDoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
    Note the three forward slashes.
    7. I view the index.htm file in IE and it works.
    As a variant of the above, instead of saying No when asked if I want to update the file, I say Yes.
    1.The HTML of policy1.htm now shows the link as:
    <a href="file:////server/rest of path/reldoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
    Note the four forward slashes again.
    2. The link is as shown in the status bar of Firefox is now set to:
    <a href="file:////server/rest of path/reldoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
    It doesn't work.
    2. The same link shown in IE status bar has two forward slashes (even though the source has four), and it works.
    So in answer to your question, the link definitely changes within RH. The two browsers deal with things differently, with IE seeing a file://// link as file://.
    Incidentally, I did some research on the file:// protocol and came up with:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_Issues_:_Links_to_Local_Pages_Don%27t_Work
    The answer seems to be:
    1. Add the links within RH.
    2. Don't update when generating output.
    3. If possible, get users to use IE instead of FF.
    Either way, it's not very satisfactory for my purposes.
    Regards,
    Roger

    How do I get rid of these big gaps?

  • Create a cursor from a PL/SQL variable or an external file

    Dear friends,
    is there a way for me to make Oracle Forms read a cursor from a PL/SQL variable, or an external file? Let's suppose we have the code below:
    DECLARE
    cursor c_values is select * from my_table;
    r_values c_values%ROWTYPE;
    BEGIN
    for r_values in c_values loop
    do_something;
    end loop;
    END;
    In the situation described above, could I create "select * from my_table" from a PL/SQL variable (it could be something like p_cursor = 'select * from my_table'), or an external file - for example, make my form read the contents of c:\my_select.sql , where we see the "select * from my table" text?
    My question comes because I need to export data from select instructions that were dinamically created inside the form - that is, via PL/SQL -, and I don't want to rewrite it, but I'll have to do it if I have no choice. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Franklin

    Dear friends,
    I am using DBMS_SQL package, which solved my problem. Please let me explain it better, if it's not clear.
    I have some PL/SQL blocks inside my form, which creates SQL queries dinamically, and a dinamically created SQL is stored into a VARCHAR2 variable. These SQL queries are exported for use in Oracle Graphics, but since OG is not being developed by Oracle anymore then I am trying to find a substitute for it.
    So I thought about creating an option for the final user: he/she can choose exporting data into Microsoft Excel, and user does what he/she wants, creating a customized graphic. Exporting into Excel works finely, with no problems at all - I could find a routine by searching on the web.
    My goal was to use the same queries created above to export data dinamically to Microsoft Excel, and I absolutely don't want to rewrite all these dinamically created queries - one which works dinamically, other with no flexibility inside my form. Worse than it, I have many other dinamically created queries, and I obviously don't want to rewrite them all - any maintenance in this form would be terrible, with each SQL instruction written twice.
    Since all dinamically created SQL instructions are stored inside a VARCHAR2 variable, I thought about reusing the same SQL, as explained above - and here we have your suggestions about using a ref cursor, execute immediate, and so on. And (answering Andreas) query structure is always based on the same table, but its structure changes a lot, depending on what the final user chooses in a drop-down list (it's a list of graphics options, where final user chooses one option, and form must mount SQL dinamically, based on user's choice).
    By using your explanations, I could find DBMS_SQL solution here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96590/adg09dyn.htm#26799
    . Please notice that I had to change DBMS_SQL.native into 1 for it to work in my form. I'll mark all your answers as helpful because I can use them both for database and form purposes.
    If my message was not clear enough, please tell me and I'll try to make it more clear.
    Best regards,
    Franklin

  • Writing to external files

    Is there any documentation in addition to the standard SDK documet?
    I have to challenges:
    1. What LUA code do i use inside a typical "grid" to write seomthing to an external file ?
    2. How can I change settings for the stahdard image files. For example, I like to output the large files with a different JPEG compression than the thumbnails.

    Probably a newbie question...
    I tried the exampe from jarnoh above, but I get the error "Attempt to index local 'file' (a nil value).
    This is my code:
    local LrTasks = import 'LrTasks'
    local LrApplication = import 'LrApplication'
    local LrFunctionContext = import 'LrFunctionContext'
    local LrProgressScope = import 'LrProgressScope'
    local LrBinding = import "LrBinding"
    local LrView = import "LrView"
    local LrDialogs = import 'LrDialogs'
    local LrPathUtils = import 'LrPathUtils'
    local LrFileUtils = import 'LrFileUtils'
    local LrStringUtils = import 'LrStringUtils'
    local LrDate = import 'LrDate'
    local catalog = import "LrApplication".activeCatalog()
    function WriteExternalFile()
    local file = io.open("example.txt", "w")
    file:write("This is an test.")
    file:close()
    end
    WriteExternalFile()

  • Storing data out to external file...?

    I have a question I'd like to put forward to anyone who can
    help me. It's a bit vague, perhaps, but any help would be
    appreciated...
    I need to make a Flash application into which you can INPUT
    data, and then have that data STORED somehow / kept in memory -
    probably in an external file of some format outside of the Flash
    file, so that the next time you launch the Flash file, that same
    EXTERNAL data will be read by the Flash file and will display in
    the interface.
    The key thing here though is that file will NOT be hosted
    online, so it cannot make use of any "online-only" scripting (if
    such a thing exists?).
    I need to host and run the Flash application from my local
    hard drive, and all external files need to be on my local hard
    drive too.
    Is it possible to set up the scenario I've outlined? Where do
    I even begin?
    I fully appreciate that this will be a big project, requiring
    a great deal of learning on my part, but I'm willing to give it a
    go, providing I know where to start...
    What am I looking at here? PHP? CGI? XML? Will those run
    locally? I really don't know...
    Like I said, I really know nothing about any of this, and I'm
    perfectly willing to learn, but I just need to know WHERE to start
    learning, and WHAT to learn...
    Again - any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

    you can use the flash sharedobject to store data from one
    flash session to another.

  • How to execute an external file in java ?

    How to execute an external file , where the file name of the external file is in unicode character. (i,e, may be in Chinese character).

    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("/path/to/executable");
    This is write. But my question is while the file name is in Chinese font.
    It means while a file name is in Chinese font or any unicode character that are supported by window but not in the command prompt. In this case the file name is changed to ??????.doc like.
    So, while trying to execute this it shows File not found message.

  • Using URL location from external file

    Hello,
    I have a button that opens a new browser window that uses a
    URL that may change from time to time. Simple question: how do I
    set up the URL to be read from an external file so it can be
    changed without having to edit the flash file?
    Thank you,
    Bob

    text file call url.txt, inside that file
    url_link=http://www.yourdomain.com/folder/file.html
    in flash on first timeline frame :
    loadVariablesNum("link.txt", 0);
    button action :
    on (release) {
    getURL(_level0.url_link, "_blank");
