50% panels width

I have A panel (A), I want to add two panels (C) and (D) to panel (A).
each of the panels C and D contains label with dynamic text. I want to give C 50% width and D 50% width
without changing the width when the text changes

Is 24 pixels limit of gnome-panel width,because if I go further to 23 or 22,nothing happens? It can be wider,but it can't be narrower to me.

do you have on that panel a custom menu ( Applications Places System )? on some themes the gnome-panel wouldn't shrink if i had that applet

• Bug: Panel widths not sticking?

This may be a bug, but I haven't come across any other messages mentioning the problem.
The panel widths don't seem to stick between sessions. For example, I open Lightroom, switch to the Develop module, then drag the panel width to the left to make it wider. So far so good, and the new, wider width sticks for that session even after switching between other modules.
However, if I close then reopen Lightroom and go to the Develop module, my previous width "flashes" briefly then goes back to the default narrower width.
I'm using Lightroom 1.0 on a P4 3GHz, 2GB RAM, and XP Home.

That would be Ilver, if its Canines are longggg....

• Maximum panel width

Hi,
I'm using CVI 2012, and I have a question about the maximum width of a panel.
I have created a panel on the user interface editor of 3840 pixel width, but when I run my application, the displayed width of the panel seem to be 3350 pixel (and the rest is cropped).
Even if I try to enlarge the panel with mouse the limit remaining.
There is a way to pass this limit ?
Thanks for your precious support.
Solved!

Hi Wolfgang,
Thanks for your reply.
I did as you suggested:
"GetPanelAttribute" get 3344 pixel width (the portion of panel displayed), and SetPanelAttribute (panel, ATTR_WIDTH, 10000) return 0 (non errors), but the portion of panel displayed remain unchanged.
You do not need a large display to run the test.
Attached the code

• Panel Width Stays Fixed in 64-Bit but not 32-Bit

Hello all,
I've recently installed Configurator 1.0 and created my first
panel as a collection of menu commands and tools I most often use.
The panel is 800x130 (HxW) pixels. I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate
with PS CS4 32-bit & 64-bit installed, and have observed that
with the panel exported to both versions of PS, it will open in
each at a 214-pixel width as the application initializes, but then
very quickly resize to the 130-pixel width I defined. However,
while consistently true for 64-Bit PS, that is not the case for
32-Bit, where the panel commonly remains at the 214-pixel width as
often as not. This does not seem to be affected by whether the
panel is docked or undocked, or whether I've resaved a workspace or
even created a new one with the panel active. I'm not certain of
this, but it seems that if I close the panel in 32-bit PS before
closing the application, then it is more likely that if I reopen
the application and then enable the panel, it will initialize to
the correct size. Oh, and when it is at the 214-pixel width, I
cannot resize it manually. Similarly, when the panel is reopened
for editing in Configurator, it always opens at the correct
130-pixel width.
Note that the panels for each version of PS were separately
exported to the respective Plug-ins/Panels folder and I even tried
replacing the folder under the 32-bit PS with a hard link
(junction) to the Panels folder in the 64-bit PS. That made no
difference in the observed behavior other than that it does allow
one exported panel location to serve both applications. I tried the
same with a shortcut in lieu of of a junction, but that didn't seem
to work insofar as the Panels extensions being loaded.
Has anyone seen such behavior as this? It is really no more
than a nuisance, but I'd like to avoid it if possible.
Thanks,
Daryl

Since the Configurator doesn't include a compiler, so the flash panel generated by it doesn't have a native height and width.
So the height and width you assigned in the Configurator is saved into the .gpc file.
You observation is very sharp and accurate, when a panel is opened first time in the Photoshop.
It will show the panel in the default size first, then it will load the height and width you assigned from the .gpc file, and resize it to the size you want.
And then when you close the panel, it will save the current panel size to a flash player share object.
The next time when you open the panel, it will load the last time saved size back.

• Spry Tabbed Panels Width

The width of the tabs at the top of the Spry Tabbed panels seems to be about 70% of the width of the panel. Adding additional tabs then wrap around to create a new row of tabs.
How is it possible to extend the first row of tabs to be 100% of the width of the panel to avoid the wrap?
Many thanks.

Thank you, David.
I'm happy that the tabs don't have a fixed width and I'm happy about setting a width as you describe above.
My problem is that if I add more tabs then the tabs will wrap around to create a new row of tabs before the first row reaches the full width of the panel. The width of all the tabs in a row seem to reach approx 70% of the width of the panel before this occurs. I would like to have more tabs along the first row before they wrap around. You can see from the two images what I mean. One image shows 6 tabs that wrap around after the first 4. I would like the other two tabs to fit on the first row. Do you see what I mean about the 70% of width before they wrap onto the next row?
The other image has 13 tabs spread over 3 rows. I would like them to spread over just 2 rows by forcing more tabs on the first two rows.
Thank you again.

• Can't change tool panel width

I drew a red circle where should be these vertical lines showing that i can change the width of the panel, but they are missing with some of the windows (color and paragraph at the moment), at the beginning it was ok, but at some point the color panel got static and i wasn't able to decrease it's with, at that that point it wasn't that huge, but now that bug occurred again and it got even bigger this time. Can anyone please help me before my whole screen is full of this tool panel
The other tool windows work properly, as soon as i switch the window, the vertical lines appear and i can change the toolpanel width, but changing back to color or paragraph, it's not possible the change it anymroe
Thanks in advance,
Andres

Try resetting the workspace. If that doesn't work, try Replace Your Preferences

• Minimum panel width?

Thanks to everyone who worked on this, it's already an
amazing tool!
I'd like a very thin panel to run down the left screen edge,
Configurator has let me create one that is only 130 pixels wide.
This thin panel displays, saves, and exports with no problems.
Unfortunately Photoshop won't display it less than (I'm guessing)
220 pixels wide. This is taking up screen real estate
unnecessarily. Running in Vista.
Is there a way to display the panel the size Configurator let
me create it? If not, can this count as a feature request.
Thanks!

If you create a panel as height=220, width=130, and then
export it into Photoshop, it will be displayed as the same size
(220*130). I have verified this on my Vista and Mac with PhotoShop
CS4.
One known issue is: If a panel has been re-sized in
Photoshop, and then be re-exported with a new size, the the new
size will not be applied for the panel in Photoshop.
I think you can create a new panel and set its size as
220*130 and then export it.

• Bug: Default Panel width on Photoshop CS5 12.0.2 (all CS5 products?)

Hi!
It seems, the Photoshop CS5 12.0.2 update sets the default panel's width to 10 px on Mac.
When I clean install the panel on new Photoshop it first opens like a thin line about 10 px width
and about 300px height. It looks very strange and some people cannot scale it back with ease.
(On Windows the 132px problem persists (bug #9 from here) even after update - panel cannot be scaled less than
132px)
Thanks
Update: This behaviour is also confirmed on Illustrator CS5, so I guess it's a wider thing connected to the latest update of some CS5 component.

OK, I found the source of this bug.
minWidth. When you set minWidth on CSXSWindowedApplication with the latest updates to CS5, the suite will strangerly resize your panel to this minWidth whenever you try to set this.width. I will post it to the list of bugs.
The test case is very simple:
<csxs:CSXSWindowedApplication minWidth="10" applicationComplete="on_creation_complete()" xmlns:csxs="com.adobe.csxs.core.*" xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" historyManagementEnabled="false">

private function on_creation_complete(): void
// the following line will scale the panel to its minWidth value instead of 500
this.width = 500;
this.height = 500;
]]>
</mx:Script>

• Panel widths in CS5

I would like to reduce the width of the Layers Panel during a screen recording at 1024x768 screen size. I have dragged sides and corners as far as they will go but have I missed some other setting somewhere?
Thanks.

The width seems somewhat influenced by the UI Font Size setting you choose in the Edit - Preferences - Interface dialog. I've not seen any way to make it smaller in width than its chosen minimum, which for me (with the smallest UI font size) seems to be set by the minimum width of the blend type and Opacity. Mine looks like this:

• Panel fixed width

My frame contains a panel, which contains 2 buttons and a label, like this:
button1 | button2 | label
The panel layout is GridBagLayout, all 3 components are anchored WEST, fill is none.
The text of the label varies dynamically: it represents a number, varying from 0 to 100000.
When the length of the text varies, then the panel width changes (when the number of digits becomes lower, the panel shrinks, and when the number of digits becomes higher, the panel grows).
What can i do in order to mantain the label size fixed (i don't want to use a DecimalFormat for formating the text, i just want to set the initial label / panel size to it's maximum size when the frame shows for the first time)

the code looks like this:
labelQ = new JLabel("000000"); // i'm initializing it with the longest value
panelToolbar.setLayout(new GridBagLayout());
GridBagConstraints gbc = new GridBagConstraints();
gbc.gridx = 0;
gbc.gridy = 0;
gbc.anchor = GridBagConstraints.WEST;
panelToolbar.add(labelQ, gbc);
getContentPane().add(panelToolbar);
getContentPane().getLayout().layoutContainer(getContentPane());
labelQ.setMinimumSize(??);
labelQ.setMaximumSize(??);
labelQ.setPreferredSize(??);
labelQ.setText("");(1) here i'm trying to set the panelSize
a) if ?? is: new Dimension(labelQ.getPreferredSize().width, labelQ.getPreferredSize().height)
=> the result will be too small
b) if ?? is: new Dimension(labelQ.getWidth(), labelQ.getHeight())
=> the result will be too long
So, which one is the correct dimension ?

• Panel Questions, user difned width

In the grid view I have the left panel (navigation of db) set to a wider width so I can see my complete folder names, and child keywords etc... Every time I open LR the Panel goes back to it's default width. Same thing happens in the develop panel. I have the right panel set to a wider width...
How do I keep panels at the width I want between sessions?
Thanks

Paul, PC or Mac? I'm on a Mac and Lightroom remembers panel width when I change it.

• Horizontal Sliding Panels with 100% width

Hi,
Im trying to use horizontal sliding panels with a width of 100% for an expandable website. So far i got it working with the vertical sliding panles where if i increase the width of the site the sliding panels width increases as well, but how do i get them to float left and slide horizontally, if i change the slidingpanelscontentgroup width it messe up. so far here is the css:
.SlidingPanelsP {
width: 100%;
position: relative;
height: 300px;
padding: 0px;
border: none;
.SlidingPanelsContentGroupP {
width: 100%;
position: relative;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
min-height:0;
border: none;
.SlidingPanelsContentP {
float: left;
width: 100%;
height: 300px;
overflow: hidden;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
border: none;
.SlidingPanelsAnimatingP * {
overflow: hidden !important;
.SlidingPanelsCurrentPanelP {
Thanks in advance

Had a hard time find the solution, but this seem to work in major browsers, except Opera which does not like the 33.33% width apparently and shows a bit of next panel. You may be able to play with margin or padding to correct this behavior.
You have to know the number of panels and make the calculation of the SlidingPanelsContent class width accordingly. Here's my test page and code for you:
