5530xm Horrid bug

Im back, this time reporting some weird & annoying bug which happens when you're writting an SMS and you receive an incoming call/SMS. After check it up your incoming MSG and back to the in-progress-typing SMS, you wont be able to continue typing "anything". The keyboard just wont work, its kinda stucked, freezed, you have to wait about 6 min to get that sh** properly working back or just quit at all from the MSG manager and then restart it.
BTW, latest Firmware installed, no hangups or reboots anymore but weird things with MSGs coming up...

Hmm... Maybe should I post this @ "Bugs & Errors" thread...

  • 5530XM System BUG. HELP PLZ!

Everything was working fine till today when I tried to install an APP more precisely PowerMP3, from my phone since I run UBuntu and can't acces a pc suite or OVI suite program.
So i just run mass storage mode, copy the .sis or .sisx file and intall from phone but today my phone read, "unable to open file"  plus It didn't let me open the options menu to delete the .sis.
I decided to try a diffeerent app and a Theme neither of them run wether they were .sis or .sisx. The phone showed the same message on all three tries and even after shutting off and turning the phone back On.
    How Can I fix this??
P.D does anybody know a package or prgram that can manage nokia phones from Ubuntu, I'm runin the latest release (10.04) up to date??

If you copy a sis file to the memory card   . I usually copy to downloads folder  .
Then open file manger locate the sis and run from there it should install .
Unless that ubunto has corrupted the file .

  • CDC mousePressed Bug (in J9)

I have found a horrid bug in IBM's J9 CDC implementation.
The way they have implemented popup trigger is by placing it in the mousePressed event. Since the trigger on PocketPC is to hold the pen on the screen for a "while", this means the mousePressed event is not delivered straight away.
The result of this is that the application does not know when the pen hits the screen, but only at some point later! this makes all kinds of stuff impossible; from signature captures to drawing apps, to custom on screen keyboards... loads of stuff.
It is sounding like IBM does not regard this as a bug but a feature of the platform. I do not agree with this at all, as it is just poorly implemented. If the trigger was placed in the mouseRelaesed event the mousePressed event could be delivered striaght away, and the trigger could be detected from the difference in time beteeen the press and release (providing no or little mouse movement ocurred in the elaped time). This is not a tricky fix by any means.
    Anyway, to my point;
Surely the certification for whether a CDC platform is compliant or not should cover obvious things like making sure events happened when they are meant to. After all, mousePressed() is called that for a very good reason! maybe mousePressedSomeTimeAgo() would be better ;)

    Hi,
I tried both Socket and Connector.
    For Socket take:

  • Few bugs and lacks on my Nokia 5530XM (firm 20.0.8...

Hello everyone, on december I upgraded the firmware on my Nokia 5530 from 11.x to 20.0.80 and luckily lots of bugs I reported were fixed. Now that's the situation:
    - Worst problem: When I receive a call and the phone is locked the two bars appears (the green to start the conversation and the blue ones). The problem is that sometimes I just can't reply to the call even if I slide lots of times the finger on the green bar (it seems to be inactive)... but the blue one works!
    - The switch between the normal and the landscape display mode is still too slow and inaccurate It takes two seconds to "rotate" the display (or sometimes it does not rotate at all .-.) and lots of times it rotates unintentionally (or because I rotated the phone for very few degrees, for examples when I take it out the pocket)... veeery annoiyng .-.
    - Is it possible to improve the global speed of the phone? Sometime the kinetic scroll lags and normal applications takes more time to start (even if I haven't programs running in background).
    - I've got two email profiles on the Messages, and when I connect to one of this the phone notifies the presence of new email (if any). The problem is that the little symbol of "new emails" on top-right corner of the home screen remains active also if I read all the messages and I close the connection.
I need to restart the phone to make it disappear.
Thank u so much for attention

  • Java (.jar) applications and games on 5530XM

    Hello
I have used the search option before asking, and I have manually searched some of the sub-forums (or boards) I thought could and would be relevant to my issue, and have seen no similar questions being asked. I have also worked with my good friend Google, and had no luck there, either. Most of the results were pirated software links, which is not necessarily bad, but does not help me resolve my issue.
Now, I'm not sure this is the correct board to post this in, but I'm not too far off even if it isn't; so bear with me. Now, onto the question.
I would like to know if it is possible to turn off the D-Pad emulator, and how one would go about doing that?
Let me elaborate, for those who are not familiar with what I'm talking about:
Namely, the 5530XM has an elegant solution for running non-touch apps and games (i.e.. those made for earlier revisions of the S60 OS, or even those legacy apps for S40), and it is as follows - the phone places the app/game interface in a window, scaled to the apps original rendering resolution, and then places a set of touch command buttons. It makes a Directional Pad, consisting of concentric circles, divided into 5 areas, 4 directions (up, down, left, right), and a general "OK" button (center). It also displays four "Letter-buttons", labeled "A", "B", "C" and "D", which have variable or no functions, depending on the app that is run. Finally it displays two function buttons, Left and Right Menu buttons, usually placed near the red and green phone button on phones with keypads. This works flawlessly for old apps and games, with the limitation that the interface is not multi-touch, meaning it will only accept one virtual keypress at a time.
My problem with this setup is that some of the more recent Java applications are run as legacy as well; meaning ALL of the touch-aware apps and games that I have tried running. This is unacceptable for several reasons. First, some of them don't recognize the simulated commands, rendering the virtual D-Pad useless. What's more, the virtual interface covers a good portion of the app's original interface, making it impossible to use it. The apps and games I have tried are shipped as .jar, and are supposed to work with a touch interface. And they do, it's only that they're half-covered with an unneeded virtual D-Pad!
I am open for all suggestions, I have the latest firmware installed, 20.0.080.C01.01, the phone is, as mentioned, 5530 XM (RM-604), and I haven't manually altered Java in any way. I am, however, ready and willing to go for some more serious tinkering if need be, even if it involves altering system files, hex editing and whatnot, and I won't cry to mama if I brick the phone, I know full well the range and scope of possible consequences. This would probably constitute breaking the rules, maybe even voiding the warranty, so I'm not asking for anyone to give an answer of that level here, publicly, but feel free to send a personal message or ask for my e-mail / IM screen name, so that we can communicate about such taboo topics
One more note, probably relevant: .sis and .sisx apps and games work flawlessly, bot the old ones needing the D-Pad (they get a virtual one) and the new ones, which are correctly recognized as touch-capable. Even some that are reported incompatible by the phone work without a hitch. It really is a pity to see the Java apps fail after everything else is flawless.
Perhaps, if there is no known solution or a dirty workaround, we can file an official recommentadion/bug report/feature request to the developers in charge? I can wait.
Thanks to those brave enough to read my wall of text, and thanks in advance to all who reply something useful
Careful what you wish for... You just might get it.

  • New bug in IE11 -- scrolling position:fixed + background-image elements jitters badly.

visit the following page in IE10 and IE11, and use your mouse wheel to scroll the page:
    http://www.oussamaharb.com/
In IE <= 10, Safari, Chrome, and FireFox, the header section of that page stays put when scrolling.  However, only in IE11, when you scroll the page the the header jumps around and jitters.  Essentially IE11 will do this on any div with a fixed
    background image.
Note the jitter does not happen if you grab the scrollbar with the cursor and move it up and down (which people rarely do).  Some sort of bug when using mouse wheel has been introduced in IE11.

You are too late to see.  He removed
background-attachment:fixed with IE11.  His link originally showed the stuttering.  It looked too unsatisfactory.
You can still see his handsome design with FireFox where it continues to work well.  (And also good with Chrome, Opera, Safari too).  See how the picture on top stays fixed when you scroll the page?  Not with IE anymore.  With IE
that great effect is removed, sacrificed to cure the ugly wart.  The picture now just scrolls upward with the page to avoid the IE11 bug.  Too bad.
Since your first reply here 7 months ago.  Have you any special MVP insider-info yet how to make this great CSS3 port-hole feature scroll smoothly with IE11?  Or possibly, you have encouraging news that it will become corrected in IE12?  Your
name is IECustomizer MVP.  It sounds like you will know.
Here are more stutter examples for you to examine.  You may click the background to toggle several different ways to see the affliction during scroll.  Please post back and tell your observation that you can see this stutter.
    https://googledrive.com/host/0B8BLd2qPPV7XOGl1Sjk3c29uVlU
Possibly somebody still hasn't yet noticed in bryanangler's example ("OP"), IE11 needs to be maximized (or large) to observe the problem.  At least,
somebody has not acknowledged.  Bryanangler's page is Responsive Web Design (RWD).  The menu on top is present when space permits.  That's when the
background-attachment:fixed applies and makes the horrid stutter.

  • JDK 1.5 bug: FileContentsImpl.setMaxLength()

OK - not only is this a bug, but it's a good example of how incredibly horrid the new logging format is. The bug is in the JWS Swing code that displays a dialog asking the user if they want to increase the maxLength of a file. Here is the smallest relevant part of the log spewage:

  • 5530 Turning on lockup bug (tips for nokia to solv...

I made a separate topic because the other one is 14 pages now. I think there shouldnt have discussion, only bug post.
A lot of people complain about this annoying bug, where you turn off the phone and cant turn it on. It locks up on "nokia" boot screen. To turn it on you must remove memory card.
I think i just found the problem of it. It happens because im using phone memory to store all the messages. SMS and 2 email accounts. When my phone memory is selected it boots normally, but when card is selected, it cant.
Nokia, we want a powerful update for 5530xm. Please read the other bug topic (/t5/Nseries-Devices-and-S60/Nokia-5530-bugs-and-lacks/td-p/514289) and the ideas for improvement topic (/t5/Software-Updates/5530XM-What-we-like-to-see-in-new-firmware/td-p/634726)
    Thanks!
    PS. Im running v20

Did you confirm that the batteryis having sufficient charge ? Connect the charger and leave it charging for an hour. Then try switching ON without disconnecting the charger.
If problem remains, have you considered trying a new battery ?

  • Illustrator CS3 - Bug? Export to JPG has white line on outline of image

When using the export (under file) in Illustrator CS3 to save the image to a .jpg file I save it as a RGB (was created initially as CMYK) using quality of medium, method = baseline (standard), depth = screen and anti-alias checked. I tried a number of variations from these standards. THis is what was used on the image you can see at http://www.punchitupnow.com. You will see that a white border (even though made sure to use yellow border color) is present, especially on the bottom of the image (look closely as the image include yellow, which blends with the page color). I you use the file > save for web option you get a preview that shows the white border on the bottom of the image. Any ideas why this is showing? Is it a bug?
    Thank you.

    Eileen:
Jacob is saying you should use a crop area.
You should also consider setting the Matte (in Save for Web) to match the background-color of your page.
Also, you really should work in RGB from the get-go to design anything for the web at all... There are lots of colors in CMYK that don't exist in the RGB gamut and vice-versa.
I'd suggest using a smaller image or just some text on your page while it's under construction, or maybe a combination. The way it's set up now, it's kind of annoying to have to wait and look at that horrid yellow while waiting for an image to load only to find it won't do anything for you.

It may not be a good soloution for a novice, but I have been using hosts files to block unwanted URLs for many years with zero disasters and lots of positive results.
As I noted, whenever I find a new "bad" site, I simply add the name to my hosts file. It takes a few seconds and then it's gone forever. I find no difficulty whatsoever.
No, it's not for everyone, which is why I gave no specific details; but for those who are interested and have the desire to learn about these hosts files, it is a very good way to avoid "bad" websites.
I also enjoy the "clean" view of a webpage when there are no ads showing at all. The page loads faster and  the distractions are gone.
I never realized how much junk I am supressing until I got my iPad and saw all those horrid ads that are blocked on my other computers.
Here is a typical result of properly using a hosts file:

  • Major Graphic BUG???

FCP6/HDV appears to have the same Bug that FCP5 had for a while. Imported Photoshop files (any still format) show up looking like they are single fields instead of frames. In other words, every other scan line of pixels is not showing.
Playback Quality changes don't help. And the truly weird thing is that the same file looks perfectly fine in the Viewer, but not in Canvas.
    Rendering doesn't help.
Native Photoshop, JPEG, TIFF--all look horrid. Files that played last week just fine in PS 5.x now look like a mistake.
FCP5 had this bug--similar, but not exactly the same behavior--when it was brand new, and it took Apple months to realize it and fix the mother. In FCP6 the major difference is that the still image looks horrible as soon as it is inserted in the timeline. FCP5 looked fine in the timeline in Canvas, but lost integrity when rendered or viewed running.
All effects, titles, matte painting FX, still overlays, still insertions are affected.
Please, somebody, tell me there's a switch somewhere that fixes this?
    -iNova
    Dual 2.5GHz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

While I'm not monitoring on an external monitor, the rendered file plays back with a perfectly clear background HD image and a flawed title overlay, so it's not the reviewing apparatus or conditions. Digital Cinema review shows the effect, too. Exported QT files show it, too.
What's significant about RT is that at High, the background is fine and the overlay still is corrupted, appearing to be 1/2 vertical resolution while maintaining full horizontal res. At Medium, being 2 x 2 pixels per detail, both clean background and overlay still look the same. At 50% scale Canvas viewing they look the same, too, which is to be expected. I'm not talking about field artifacts in motion. Those are easy to see on the computer monitor.
In the Viewer window, enlarged right next to the Canvas window, and both at 100%, pixel-direct viewing, the Canvas image is corrupt and the Viewer image of the same file, thrown into the View window from the timeline, looks 100% quality.
Since the Viewer window can portray the still bitmap image while looking perfect, and can portray moving footage perfectly, the issue seems to be in something that the Canvas window's handling routines are doing with the JPEG and .psd files. Since it does the same flaw with TIFF files, it seems logical to assume that it's not the incoming format, rather it's something in the way the timeline/Canvas handles bitmaps.
Are you seeing stills pixel perfect? Scale a 6MP digital image down to 1920 x 1080 and JPEG it, importing it into FCP6. Then view that in Viewer and Canvas at 100% scale after you drop it into the timeline.
One extra oddity; PS files import into the Browser as .psd format (1440 x 1080= exact resolution) self-contained sequences.
That's the way they show up normally--and must, if they had layers. If you double click on the source .psd file, opening it as a sequence, it shows up in its own timeline, and in the Canvas without the mangled look. It looks right.
But drop that source file into another timeline--the way you must to use it in an edit--and the corrupt appearance returns.
So we can add a new bit of mystery solving: It's possible for the Canvas to see a still image file with clarity--IF that file was imported as an existing sequence, the way .psd files do. But somehow still files of several formats can land in the timeline with this flaw. Making titles in Photoshop very ugly. Plus this: Do anything to the OK looking .psd image and render that--poof! The flawed appearance returns.
I'll bet Premiere doesn't make this mistake.
It's not a scaling artifact. It has the look of an image minus every other scan line, showing dramatic aliasing on shallow angle contours and loss of vertical resolution only.
    Too much head scratching.

  • First bug I've found since 2.2 update - anybody else?

Ok so... I've had the update for a little over a day now.  Other than a few quirks, I've found one thing I really REALLY don't like, and wondered if it's a bug or something they did intentionally (cuz I can't figure how to fix it).  So... here's what I'm experiencing.
    1.  Battery life SEEMS to be about the same so far... but I haven't been on my phone much today.  (I'm using the 1750mah battery from Seidio).  We'll see as time goes on, but yesterday was horrid, but I was doing alot of tweaking.
    2.  Things are a bit more sluggish.  Unlocking the phone, typing in my texts I notice alot of lag, even though it still puts it in there, it's a big more laggy.  Not a deal breaker, but I noticed.  I can live with it.
    3.  More apps that came with the update are still running (I have uninstalled ATK as suggested), but I'm letting the phone sort those out, seems to be doing ok.
    4.  Here's the big one... when I go to my text messages... If I'm actually in the text message portion for that person I'm texting, and I send a text, I set my phone down cuz I'm done.  If the screen is still on and they text me right away, it doesn't do the notification sound or even the icon at the top.  It just displays the message.  I noticed this when I had seen texts the next time I opened it up that I didn't hear the chime go off.  Now... if I let the screen go off and THEN they text, it does the sound notification.  If i hit the back arrow button and go back one step out of the texts with that person, and they text back while the screen is on, it will do the sound notification.  So... only when I'm still in the text message list with that particular person will it NOT do the chime as long as the screen is still on.  Which can be a pain if I text and then set the phone down and I'm not watching it, I won't know if they texted back right awhile while the screen is still on.  So... basically I have to back out of the text message with them each time, just in case.  Which is a hassle... again, not a deal breaker but, I don't like it.
    Anybody else?

are you both using the stock messaging app? i don't know about the notification issue because i never leave it open. i guess out of habbit i always back out (or at least hit home) after i send. but maybe if you don't want to back out twice, you could try just hitting home after you send. still a pain...but at least it's only one touch. see if that gives you the alert??? as far as your other issue snowwhite....mine keeps the entire thread....but when i go into the message it takes me right to the most recent. the most recent is at the bottom, which is where the app takes me directly too....with the oldest message being at the top. not sure why yours would be different????

  • Attention with new Driver 2.15.0006 / Bug

This driver is very buggy and includes 2 phenomens:
-When 96 KHz Output Sampling Rate is set, only 88.2KHz is comming to the receiver (Entertainment Mode)
-When using ASIO the creative pannel is hanging after a short time. No system reboot is possible, only the trick with the reset switch is working :-)
I have restored my system from image, because reinstalling the old driver is not working directly - only with a stressy workarround.

Checked on XP x64, 6 GB RAM (there is no 4GB problem even with the driver from year 2006), Elite Pro...
Message Edited by Darkstorm on 03-5-2008 :36 PM

This is a good thread, if we keep all the driver issues, and workarounds in this thread it may help us in someway, as containing the feedback stops the CL guys from trawling through multiple threads.
I have been testing this Driver on 2 different OS' XP 32 and Vista x64 with SP. I have not found any issues except for some reason my "Decoding" tab is greyed out. I am not sure whether this was caused by the firmware upgrade or whether the driver does not support decoding (in XP and x64) due to perhaps some upcoming application release from CL.

    Pioneer 22-BK with latest Firmware
    Enermax 720W PSU?
Windows XP Pro SP2/Windows Vista Ultimate x64?SP
Now, everything game wise and MP3 wise seems fine on both OS' except for Crysis which has some horrid sound delay and crackle issues on some parts of the game. I am told that this issue relates to a bug with the game as many people have this issue with their onboard sound to.
Decoder options are greyed out/disabled on both OS', it used to work on XP using the 2.09.007 driver.
I will do some more testing and keep you guys updated. PS It's good to see the crystaliser setting is fixed (now it does not always force to 60 or so % each time you turn it on as it now remembers your setting).
    Keep the feedback coming.
