64 bit version of AxInterop.AcroPDFLib library

We have a VB.NET application which runs on DOT NET Framework 2.0. It is a windows based application which has enormous reports. Few reports are loaded using crystal report viewer and few reports are loaded using PDF Viewer. In places where we use PDF viewer, we use AxInterop.AcroPdfLib library to load the reports. We use AxAcroPDFLib.AxAcroPDF class to load the report.  All these reports are working fine on a 32 bit Operating system. But when we run the same application on a 64 bit OS, we are not able access any of our reports. All other setup remains the same except for Crystal reports Redistributable package (64 bit) which is installed on 64 bit OS. All the libraries in our application are compiled to support “Any CPU”. In order to determine the cause of the problem, we developed a dummy application, which included just the AxInterop.AcroPdfLib library to load the pdf file. While loading the report, the application threw Class not registered error. After researching on this problem, we came to know that AxInterop.AcroPdfLib library will load only on 32 bit compliers. So we re-complied the dummy application by changing the target CPU type to x86 from Any CPU, and checked the same scenario. This time we were able to view the PDF file.  We are also able to view crystal reports through crystal report viewer, so we doubt that the problem could be because of AxAcroPDFLib.AxAcroPDF library.
we have already tried the scenario of running the application using “X86” compiler option instead of “Any CPU”. By doing so the AxInterop.AcroPdfLib.dll file will load the reports without any error. But by doing this change, reports which are viewed in crystal report viewer will stop working. This is because we are using Crystal reports Redistributable package for 64 bit OS.  Also our application is very huge with plenty of dynamic link libraries. It is not feasible for us to convert all the dlls to load on 32 bit OS. More over our primary objective of moving to a 64 bit OS was to increase the performance of the application, which will take a down turn by doing this change.
If there is no way to load reports using AxInterop.AcroPdfLib.dll on a 64 bit OS, then we will have to think of some other alternate approach. One of the approach would be drop the facility of loading reports using AxInterop.AcroPdfLib.dll, instead we should change all our reports to be viewed only on crystal reports.  This will also have few drawbacks, as we will have to maintain two different versions of files, one for 32 bit and one for 64 bit.
Following is the system configuration:  Operating System:                Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 1 Acrobat Reader version:       Acrobat reader 9.2 Name of the Dll:                    AxInterop.AcroPDFlib.dll Nature of Problem:                We are using AxInterop.AcroPDFlib.dll to load PDF files. When this dll is used on a 32 bit OS, it loads the report without throwing any error. If the same dll is used on a 64 bit OS, it throws “CLASS_NOT_REGISTERED” error. There are no other third party components/application used in the printing process. Is there any AxInterop.AcroPDFLib library which can be used on both 32 bit and 64 bit OS? Please let us know solution to this problem.

  • AxInterop.AcroPDFLib.dll throws "Class not registered" error on 64 bit OS

I have an vb.net application which uses AxInterop.AcroPDFLib.dll to open PDF files. The application works fine on a 32 bit operating system. But when the same application is accessed from a 64 bit Operatiog system, it throws error "Class not Registered".
Am i supposed to use different version of AcroPDFLib.dll for 64 bit OS.
I have Acrobat reader 9.1 installed on 64 bit OS machine. Is there any newer version of SDK/dll which will fix ths problem.
Please let me know solution for this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

I am pretty sure if you compile your client application as x86 itwill work fine....you are probably compiling it with the configuration set to AnyCPU. The application loads up as 64bit or 32bit depending on the OS when set to AnyCPU. You want to force it to load as 32bit by compiling as x86. That way the app runs under WOW and loads the AcroPDFLib correctly.
    Hope this helps

  • Is there a 64-bit version of AcroPDFLib?

Hi, please can you give me a final answer, as I have searched the internet for days now and haven't found anyone who appears to know the answer to my question.
I have a 32-bit application that we are considering converting to 64-bit, but it fails when accessing the AcroPDFLib dll.  I understand that this is because this is a 32-bit dll, so will not work when we run our application as 64-bit, and I appreciate that we can run our 32-bit application using WOW64, and it works fine.
The question I have is - is there such a thing as a 64-bit version of AcroPDFLib, or something similar that will let us view PDF files in our 64-bit application.
If not, it seems such a shame that a wonderful add-in such as AcroPDFLib hasn't been carried forward into the 64-bit world.  We may have to consider keeping our application as 32-bit and running it using WOW64, which would be a shame as we would miss out on all the benefits of 64-bit.
    Please help if you can.
    Many thanks,
    Gary.

Thanks Pat, it is amazing how many people have asked the same question over the last few years, but there still doesn't appear to be a solution forthcoming.......
Oh well, someone did suggest opening the PDF document in a web browser instead, which we may have to consider now that it is becoming apparent that there is no 64-bit version of the wonderful AcroPDFLib that worked so well on 32-bit.
    Thanks for your help,
    Gary.

  • ITunes on XP 64 bit ... Can I Run a 32-bit Version?

I understand that there is no supported version of iTunes that will run on XP 64-bit, but I followed a hack that I found and got it running on my XP 64-bit machine at work. The problem is that I am now getting an error message that says something about "Can't save library, not enough memory" or something like that. I have 6GBs of RAM and almost 200GB of space open on my HD. Is this a common error using a hacked version of iTunes? Is it possible to install and run a 32-bit version on a machine running XP 64-bit? I have both 32 and 64-bit versions of Photoshop and they both run fine.
I also have Service Pack 2.
    Thanks in advance...
    Lloyd

Here's what one user said to to to get iTunes to run in Vista/XP 64 bit.
Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right Click on Command Prompt -> Run As Administrator.
    Type “cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64″
    Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll
If you don’t do Run as Administrator, the regsvr32 will fail. Also, be careful to run the command in SysWOW64, not System32! System32 on a 64-bit system actually contains the 64-bit system libraries.
No guarantees, but it might be worth a try. You may find alternative workarounds if you search this forum for "XP 64". None of the workarounds I've seen have been completely functional, so an upgrade to a newer version of Windows is probably something to consider.

That usually indicates that your Apple Mobile Device Support has not installed. That's also what is being shown by the diagnostics (the driver is there but the application isn't).
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes 10.5 64 bit version won't install on Windows 7 PC

After 5 hours, I still cannot download the 64 bit version of iTunes 10.5 on my Windows 7 computer.  Removed all anti-virus protection, uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted, etc.  Nothing.  Seems to be a big problem.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes then install the 64-bit version of iTunes

I have seen others post this same question but the answers provided does not resolve my problem. My iPad Air is running iOS 7.1.2. I have been using this same computer for three years. It has Windows 7 home premium, service pack 1,  64-bit Operating System, Intel 3.4GHZ computer and 16.0 GB .  I used this same computer with my iPad2 for several years. I purchased an iPad Air a year ago. I never had a problem with either iPad using iTunes. About a week ago, my computer would no longer recognize the iPad Air. I thought it must be a driver problem or iTunes somehow became corrupted. I uninstalled all of the Apple products except for iCloud and deleted any Apple software left in my Program Files and Program Files (x86). I then downloaded from Apple, iTunes64Setup.exe which is a 110,833 KB program. I installed the program without a problem. It installed Bonjour, Apple Software Update, Apple Application Support and iTunes. These programs I had previously uninstalled. I then brought up iTunes.  I now plugged in my iPad Air and a popup message appeared "This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes then install the 64-bit version of iTunes". OK, I did as instructed. I used the iTunes installer to remove iTunes then ran iTunes64Setup.exe. I brought up iTunes and got the same message. "This iPad cannot be used because the required software is nt installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes then install the 64-bit version of iTunes"  In general, I have found the Apple software to be robust and reliable. This situation however is very disappointing. I am hoping that someone has an answer that I can use to resolve my problem.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component, such as Apple Mobile Device Support, won't install normally.
In your case I suggest you start with a clean download of the setup file using the direct link. If reinstalling AMDS alone doesn't work try tearing everything down again.

  • How come iTunes keeps saying:"this iPod can not be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64 bit version of iTunes?"  Wth...i am using the 64version.

Hi. How come iTunes keeps saying:"this iPod can not be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64 bit version of iTunes?"  Wth...i am using the 64 bit version of itunes. Why does it keep saying that? Will someone Help me please!? This is is getting frustrating. I already had done a full removal of everything! I even removed and deleted my library...then had to put all 500 songs back on one by one. So, i don't have to remove everything again, just to get my ipod to work on here. You, know before the itunes update, my ipod and itunes were working just fine.

wow, that was a quick reply. lol. but i have removed everything. I wasn't even able to get iTunes on my computer for a little while. i kept getting errors on that. Now it's saying that the required software isn't installed. Hmm, could it be referring to Apple Mobile Device Support? That is supposed to be installed with when iTunes gets installed right? I only ask, because that  didn't get installed with the itunes setup.

I am trying to utilize a function in SharePoint to permit me to open a library in Explorer mode. The function is available on the Share Point page and when I select the function my IE browser stops working. Unfortunately IE at it's current setup on my system is required for most internal applications. For what OS as Firefox for Windows from [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ www.mozilla.org] is only Win32 and will work on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. Firefox for Mac OSX is a combined 32/64 and There are separate 32-bit and 64-bit versions for Linux.

    Hello,
I'm using the Linux version of AMS 6.0.3 on a 64-bit machine. I'd like to use the AMSCheck tool but noticed
that unlike FLVCheck, the AMSCheck tool was delivered as a 32-bit executable (even thought I downloaded the
    64-bit version of AMS):
    /opt/adobe/ams/tools# file flvcheck
flvcheck: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, stripped

amscheck: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, stripped
    This looks like an oversight.

I Have downloaded the 64 bit version of iTunes for my Sony running Windows 8.  Install went fine and I can get in to iTunes and see the music residing on this machine.  However, everytime that I try to run iTunes Match Windows crashes.  So frustrating.  BTW, this worked fine until a couple of weeks ago.  Anyone know what's going on?

How big is your library?  I would recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
    - Backup your library.  Always a good idea before messing with things.
    - Create a new library.   Refer to this article for details:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589.  This won't delete your old library, you're just creating a new empty one.  Also refer to this article to get back to your old library later.
    - Add a few albums into this new library.  Not everything, just a small sampling, as a test.
    - Activate Match on this new library.  You shouldn't have to re-pay, it should just say "Add Computer" or similar.
    - At this point, Match should run again. With just a few albums it should complete in just a few minutes.
If iTunes doesn't crash at this point, then likely there's something about your original library that Match doesn't like - what that is I don't know, but at least you'll know it's not your PC.   If iTunes still crashes, then if could be a number of other things, but probably not your library.   My next suggestion (if you haven't already done this) is to uninstall / reinstall iTunes.   If that doesn't work, then my next ideas you won't like.
