A plea to Oracle
Dear Oracle:
Please fix ftp.oracle.com. I have wasted countless hours trying
to download copies of your product, and it is starting to drive
me FLAMING BONKERS!

I am facing unique problem. I am connecting to Oracle using Oracle Inproc server 3.0 type library(Set Session = CreateObject("OracleInProcServer.XOraSession")).
After establising the connection when we execute the a stored procedure using the datbase object
Set SQLStmt = Database.CreateSql(SQL, &H0)
Now when we try and insert nine digit decimal number e.g 1011111.87 instead of updating it with above no it updates it to 1011111.88 or 1011111.77 or any other random last 2 chars
Now here the SQL is of the type string which fires a stored procedure

HTML DB call Oracle Report and Print
I have a PRING button on the HTML DB report. When the user click on this PRINT button it launches the oracle report location Portal Server in UNIX box. The report display in Lanscape format as I set it up. However, when I go to File/Print and click print. It print inf Portral. I tried depressly to make it print on page in lanscape format, but I was not success. Pleas help.
This isn't really an APEX question and it's not that clear what you're wanting to acheive.
However, have you tried choosing the landscape print format on your printer preferences via the File -> Print dialog? -

As our application uses AXIS to do WebServices, we have removed the default oracle xml shared library by using remove-inherited in orion-application.xml. In addition, we package our own xerces in our application ear file. It looks like PDK is looking for oracle xml parser resulting in the NoClassDefFoundError exception.
The above exception is thrown if I access the JDPK provider URL after accessing our application.
However, if I restart the OC4J and ccess the JPDK provider URL without accessing our application, I get the following error

Can someone please tell me that if I remove the inherited default oracle XML parser using remove-inherited tag in orion-application.xml, how do I make the JPDK use my own packaged xerces XML parser.

Oracle recovery from tape backup
A plea for help fellows,
Can an a few Oracle tables be recovered using datafile/s that were backed up to conventional tape back up?
The story is that a few days ago I started trying to recover tables for a warehouse (10.2.0.1.0) that appeared as recovered by using EM and rman script embedded in such that gave me a 'confirmation' that the rows were flashed back. It turns out that the rows were not there (unless something else has to be done after the confirmation message in EM), and this was done on three tables.
It has now passed the time (apparently) that I can flash back the tables, as I use the SCN for the relevent time to recover (a flashback query) and I get 'ora-01555: snapshot too old' - the undo won't reach back that far. The database is in archivelog mode. It has now reached a point where the data warehouse owner would like the tables back pronto, but only three of hundreds of tables. What is desired by the data warehouse owner is for the tables to be restored to a location where his team members can pick the 'necessary rows to recover' from a restored copy of the tables.
If I could restore whole tables - to different name, (even unnecessary ones) or even a whole tablespace - different name, the contents could be gotten rid of once it has been scavenged. But the tape restored data file/s would have a different SCN.
Can someone tell me how this can be done please? What is the level of difficulty?
Regards, DavidSo basically, you want to get 3 tables from an old hot or cold backup taken sometime ago, correct? If so, create another seperate db, restore the old db, recreate the controlfile, recover(if restoring a hot backup), open the db and then export the tables.
Another option is to use RMAN to restore the db, open the db and perform export.
You can then, say create another schema in the target db in another tablespace and then import the tables under the new user's schema.
Hope this helps. -

Error Installing Oracle SOA Suite
Hello,
I'm getting errors below (only copied partial error) when I start managed server soa_server1. Main errors seem to be:
"No unique bean of type [javax.persistence.EntityManager] is defined" and "Caused By: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/bpm/analytics/cube/action/CubeCommand".
Any suggestions on where to start debugging?

Using Oracle Database Express Edition in development environment
Hi All,
I have doubt regarding the usage Oracle Database Express Edition in Development environment. I am not sure weather I can ask a non technical question here or not. Pleas forgive me if I have done any thing wrong.
I am working in an IT company where we take up projects outsourced by our clients. As part of our current project we are making some modification to a web application used by an institution. Our client is using Oracle Data Base standard edition. Due to budgetary constraints of our Company we can not set up a Oracle standard edition data base in our development environment.
So would it be illegal if we use Oracle Database Express Edition in our development environment? We can guarantee that only our internal development team which comprise a maximum of 10 people will have access to this development database and this development data base will never be opened to our Client for their business purpose(Who have their own Oracle standard edition in their environment). As part of the project we delver only table DDL script and stored procedure to our client and they put it in their environment.The sole purpose of a internal Express database will be development only.
Could some one please tell me if it would be violation of license agreement if we install Oracle Database Express Edition in our development environment.Hi Paul,
Actually I have already gone through the Oracle Technology Network Developer License Terms for Oracle Database 11g Express Edition . But was not quiet clear about the content. It says in the license terms that "We grant you a nonexclusive, nontransferable limited license to use the programs for: (a) purposes of developing, prototyping and running your applications for your own internal data processing operations". Does the term "your application" includes an application we are developing for another company. Since the Express database is installed in the development environment only and is not opened to any one else not even for Our client it definitely falls under the term "internal data processing operations" right? -
How to set the target of af:commandLink in Oracle ADF faces ( af:menuTabs )
I try to use tabbedpane component from Oracle ADF...As I found, they stated that only <af:commandLink> can be child of <af:menuTabs>
I want to press the tab then the result can be show at the bottom of that tab...as same as the jsf demo from SUN.
<af:menuTabs binding="#{editor.component}">
<af:commandLink text="Quick-Info" action="#{action.qinfo_page}"
selected="true" />
<af:commandLink text="Vertrieb" action="#{action.vertrieb_page}"/>
<af:commandLink text="Wichtig" action="#{action.wichtig_page}"/>
<af:commandLink text="Kontakt" action="#{action.kontakt_page}"/>
<af:commandLink text="Notizen" action="#{action.notizen_page}"/>
</af:menuTabs>
Now when i press to each tab, it will redirect to new page as i define (such as the code in welcome.jsf...then it redirect to qinfo.jsf when i press at Quick-Info tab).
Pleas help me to solve this problem...I need to show the result at that page (area below the tab). Thank you in advance.We're sorry, but this isn't supported. One rationale is that it's not generally sufficient to simply reload the target page; you also have to reload the tab control itself to show the new selection. We generally recommend not using frames in this circumstance, instead putting the menuTabs and the content on one page.
(BTW, "target" isn't really supported on <h:commandLink> either)

Oracle on alternative Linux platforms
Does anyone knows whether Oracle will support Linux on
alternative hardware platforms (like PowerPC or Alpha) or not?
If not do you know a database with Outer-Joins (Postgresql has
not) and subqueries (Mysql has not) support for Linux/PowerPC?
Thanks in advance.

I had the same question (Oracle on Alpha )
and asked altavista ;+)
The answer is yes, but only shipped for x86.
I think, we ( the customers ) have to ask Oracle
for their products on different hardware plattforms...
Pleas read this:
http://www.idg.net/crd_linuxworld_9-125976.html.
Maybe, DB2 runs on PowerPC, because IBM sponsors the
Linux development on their plattforms.

Migration of older version Oracle forms to Oracle 6i/9i
Can someone tell me whether I can use Oracle JDeveloper Application Migration Assistant to migrate older version of Oracle forms to Oracle 6i/9i?
Thanks a lot,

if so,
i have an humantask activity in the process. in revision 1.0 , i have some instances which are running. it is exposed as a service which other services consume.
now, if i redploy to the same revision, the state goes stale, so that we could not act on stale human tasks which should not happen
what should i do in this case if i am unable to migrate to the revision?

How to use "Auto increment" in temp table Oracle
Pleas tell me yaar,
In MS Sql for Auto increment i am using like this "seqid int identity" for temp table
t_seq_tbl table(seqid int identity,EVENT_SEQ_NO varchar(30))
In oracle how to use....As far as I know there is not any auto increment data type in Oracle. Instead of this you should create a sequence and get the next value of the sequence while creating a row in your table.
CREATE SEQUENCE Test_Sequence ;
CREATE TABLE Test_Table ( Id NUMBER , Foo VARCHAR2(4) ) ;
ALTER TABLE Test_Table ADD CONSTRAINT Test_Table_PK_Id PRIMARY KEY ( Id ) ;
INSERT INTO Test_Table ( Id , Information ) VALUES ( Test_Sequence.NEXTVAL , 'FOO' ) ;
