A reason of disabling of Batch Updating by a CHAR type

Hi all,
Why, when there is a table column of CHAR datatype, does JDev disable Batch Updating feature in "Tuning" page of Entity object?
Is this related to that, that CHAR datatype blank-pads a value, of cause if the latter is shorter that the CHAR column length?
I'm interested not in the technical aspect of this (as we know, this is done by setting Refresh After Insert/Update checkboxes of the corresponding CHAR field) but in some other aspect or implication of doing that by a JDev.
JDev version is 10.1.3.3.0.
Regards and thanks,
Yerzhan.

Hi,
Thank you for ur answer.
I've followed the procedure that you have explained and the Quantity 3 have been succefully passed to VA01 but is set to zero when i execute the next OK-CODE (=UER2, i think it is llike Enter button ). I simulate the same procedure by creating a sales order on VA01 and i've finally found the problem : at item level, if i enter the Material (MATNR), the order Quantity (KWMENG) and the Reason of rejection (ABGRU), the quantity is set to zero after clicking the enter button ; but if i enter only The material and The quantity followed by enter button, and enter after the Reason of rejection, it works fine, the Quantity doesn't change.
What is the solution that you propose to me?
I've try this one on debugger mode:
The FM which interpret the Idoc create the sales order by CALLING TRANSACTION 'VA01' USING bdcdata....
I've modified the bdcdata to implement the sequence of the steps before (MATNR + QTY <ENTER> ABGRU <ENTER>).
1. Is it possible to code this modification?
2. Is there a way to structure the Idoc for having this sequence in bdcdata?
Thanks in advance!

  • Disable JRE Auto update in Vista for all users?

    I feel like a complete idiot that I can't figure this out, but it's either so obvious I'm overlooking it, or I just plain can't figure it out, so I'm hoping someone here can help.
    We have not yet been able to figure out how to simply disabled the Auto Update option when installing JRE under Vista, so it will never check for updates, no matter what user is logged into a pc. I've just installed the newest version 1.6.0_05-b13, but get the same results.
    Basically, we are creating a "base clone image" of a Vista workstation and we need the auto update feature of the JRE to be disabled so it doesn't check for updates. When a new user logs into the pc, we want them to 'inherit' this setting from the default user profile, or we simply want a 'global' setting on the pc that stops all JAVA update checks from occuring. But even though there are multiple registry keys that 'look' like they control the auto update function, no matter how we set them the update option still shows it is enabled when you open the JAVA control panel.
    We have 2 basic problems:
    - When a standard user runs the JAVA Control Panel applet and they select the 'Update' tab, the option to "uncheck" autoupdates is "grayed out". If we make the user a local administrator, then it is not grayed out anymore and they can set the option. Problem is, we have thousands of users and none of them are local administrators, hence the problem of getting it to already be defaulted to not check for updates. How do we get the update checkbox to NOT be grayed out for a NON-administrator?
    - How do we set the 'global' (or default) option to disable the auto update checkbox for ALL users? No matter what we try, when a new user logs in, the auto update feature is still enabled after their initial profile is generated from the first time login.
    I was able to figure out if I change the "EnableJavaUpdate" value in the below registry key, it will "remove" the Update tab from the JAVA Control Panel. But does the simply remove the tab? Or does it remove the tab AND disable auto updates for ALL users on the computer?
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy
    I've sent multiple emails to Sun asking for help on what should be a simple thing to do, but have never received a reply from them.
    Keith Hemmelman

    Thank you for the reply. I apologize for not getting back here sooner.
    We actually already use a deployment.properties file located under the Default User profile on our Vista setup. It's located under the "C:\Users\Default\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment" folder. This file does get copied over to a new user profile when a new person logs in. This is what we want since we have set things like the maximum cache size and temporary file location.
    The problem though is there is no setting that disables the automatic update check within this file. The best I can figure out is that for some reason under the Vista environment, the auto update setting is controlled in the registry at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy
    There is a REG_BINARY key there that appears to control this option. It is named "EnableAutoUpdateCheck". The problem is that the value of this key is "several" characters long and it is "different" from one user to the next. I tried disabling auto update under the Java Control Panel and then copied the value of this key into the same aread of the Default User hive but when a new user logs in, it ignores that setting and auto update is still enabled. I also tried using a simple "0" to disable the autoupdate or a "1" to enable it for this key, but it doesn't work either. (This is very frustrating why there isn't a simple 1 or 0 setting to turn the auto update setting on/off.)
    We had no problem getting this to work under XP. Basically we didn't have to do anything special in XP. We simply created a temporary user account and made all the settings we wanted and then copied that profile over to our Default User profile and the Java autoupdate setting under the Java Control Panel was disabled for all new users. We did the same thing under Vista, but the auto update setting was ignored and re-enabled for all new users.
    I read through the settings for the deployment.properties file located at the below link, but there is nothing there to control the auto update setting.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/properties.html
    Thus, we can't get the auto update setting to be disabled in the default user profile so it will in turn be disabled for all new users that log into the computer. This is extremely frustrating.
    The other equally frustrating problem we have run into under the Vista environment is that when you run the Java Control Panel, the option to disable the auto update check is "grayed out" and the user can't uncheck this option to disable auto update. We have found you must be an administrator before this option is no longer grayed out. Since none of our thousands of users are admins, this is also a problem for us. (This option works fine for a standard user if you are on a XP machine though. It's just Vista where things have changed.)
    I've sent repeated emails to Sun in the past asking for help, but they never replied.

  • Best way to do batch update of an online database

    We have a periodic process which will do batch update of the online database. I would like to have some advice on what is the best way to avoid this operation affecting cache.
    We have multiple environments using shared cache, so the total cache size is pretty big. Each environment on average refresh once a day. Some are pretty big in the DB size but not necessary have high traffic, and thus doesn't have high count in the cache. I am wondering if I do a refresh (basically lots of puts) to the db, will the affect the cache? if so, is there a way to not affect the cache?
    If there is a way to disable caching of the LN at environment level, that should also work for us as we a 1st tier object cache.
    Also, I would like to cleanup the log at the end of the batch update. Will the cleanup process block the reader threads which are set at read_uncommitted?
    Thanks!

    Josh,
    It is possible to use a base API Cursor (with the CacheMode configured) to write entities in a destination EntityStore after reading them from a source EntityStore. The idea is to read the entities using a DPL cursor from the source store, and then use the binding of the destination store to convert the entities to DatabaseEntry objects, and finally store the DatabaseEntry objects using a base API cursor from the destination store.
    import com.sleepycat.je.CacheMode;
    import com.sleepycat.je.Cursor;
    import com.sleepycat.je.DatabaseEntry;
    import com.sleepycat.je.OperationStatus;
    import com.sleepycat.persist.PrimaryIndex;
    import com.sleepycat.persist.EntityCursor;
        PrimaryIndex srcIndex = ... // index of source store
        PrimaryIndex destIndex = ... // index of destination store
        EntityCursor<MyEntity> srcCursor = srcIndex.entities();
        Cursor destCursor = destIndex.getDatabase().openCursor(null, null);
        destCursor.setCacheMode(CacheMode.UNCHANGED);
        EntityBinding<MyEntity> destBinding = destIndex.getEntityBinding();
        DatabaseEntry key = new DatabaseEntry();
        DatabaseEntry data = new DatabaseEntry();
        for (MyEntity e : srcCursor) {
            destBinding.objectToKey(e, key);
            destBinding.objectToData(e, data);
            OperationStatus status = destCursor.put(key, data);
            assert status == OperationStatus.SUCCESS;
        destCursor.close();
        srcCursor.close();Please let me know if you have questions.
    Obviously, this would be a lot easier if there were an EntityCursor.put method, so that the CacheMode could be set on the EntityCursor. I'll file an enhancement request to add such a method.

  • HTML Article Management: Is there an easier way to perform batch updates?

    I have a folio with many html articles.
    After a batch of edits I need to update the folio via FolioBuilding panel.
    I've tried 2 ways both however both are time consuming;
    1) via Updates: updating is time consuming because i have to select each artcle, go to menu select update, wait till complete, repeat for each article.
    2) via reimport: select each article, go to menu & select delete, wait till complete, repeat for each article then re-import all articles
    Is there an easier way to accomplish batch updates?
    Thanks,
    John

    Just use "import" & the sw insts' will load and assign accordingly, automatically.
    But oddly, there are times when importing a SMF w/imbedded prgm changes, that LP8 loads a completely wrong instrument to a specific track(s).
    One reason that I've kept only one of my trustworthy external midi modules (Roland XV5080), specifically for just importing SMFs'. When the XV is in GM mode, any standard midi files I import to LP8... always load pgm changes correctly 100% of the time.

  • Statement caching and batch update

    Can these 2 JDBC features work together ?
    Is it possible while statement is cached to be reparsed (soft) if used in batch update ?
    I am asking this questions because i have a sitution where an insert is cached using implicit statement caching and then put in a batch to exeute batch updates !!! From statspack reports i find that 1/3 of statements are reparsed ... even soft !!!

    Statement caching and batch update work fine together. The most common cause of unexpected soft parses is changing the type of some parameters. If you first bind one type, setInt(1, ...), do addBatch, then bind another type to the same parameter, setString(1, ...), and do addBatch, you will get a soft reparse. There is nothing the JDBC driver can do about this, the RDBMS requires it.
    In general, whatever parse behavior you see with statement caching you would also see without it.

    iTunes app on the iPhone is for purchasing music.
    The fact the iPhone starts playing when connected to your car stereo is a function of your car bluetooth system.
    Consult your car dealer/bluetooth system manual.
    I have attempted to delete all music from the device (so there would be nothing to play), but 1 song remains in the iphone memory and I have been unable to delete that song.
    Connect the iPhone to computer and select it in iTunes.
    Click the Music tab and uncheck Sync music.
    Then click Apply at lower right of iTunes.

  • How to disable yum auto-update in OL6

    Hello,
    What is the correct procedure to disable yum auto-updates?
    The "yum-updatesd" daemon that existed in OL 5 does no longer exist in OL 6.
    I found out that the "PackageKit Update Applet" seems to be responsible for running the auto-update. It can be enabled or disabled in the new Preferences/Startup Applications control panel. There is also the "gpk-prefs" control panel to set the update interval to "never". However, both control panels work on a per-user/login basis and cannot be used to disable yum auto-update system-wide.
    Finally I found /etc/PackageKit/PackageKit.conf, which has a DefaultBackend parameter, but I don't know what I should put there.
    Is there here a way, to disable the yum auto-update system-wide without uninstalling PackageKit?
    I already checked the documentation at http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Deployment_Guide/ch-PackageKit.html but it was not helpful.
    Thanks!

    The actuall problem I'm trying to fix is the following error:
    <pre>
    Another app is currently holding the yum lock; waiting for it to exit...
    The other application is: PackageKit
    Memory : 45 M RSS (357 MB VSZ)
    Started: Tue Jul 10 09:27:04 2012 - 04:09 ago
    State : Sleeping, pid: 2317
    </pre>
    The above error can happen if you have an active Gnome session and e.g. connect as root using ssh session and try to use yum.
    I may have found a way now to disable the automatic system updates, however, I don't know if this is the proper solution since I cannot find any information about it.
    I modified */etc/PackageKit/PackageKit.conf* and changed:
    <pre>
    DefaultBackend=yum -> DefaultBackend=nobackend
    </pre>
    It requires a re-login of your Gnome X session to take affect.
    Then Administration/Software update does no longer scan for updates, and apparently no longer lock yum at the system level. At least the problem seems to be fixed globally that way.
    I will mark this question as answered, but any ideas are still welcome.
    Thanks!
    Btw, here is a link to previous older thread to disable it on a per-user basis:

  • Problem with Batch Updates

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement where in I have to use batch updates. But if there's a problem in one of the updates, I want the rest of the updates to ingore this and continue with the next statement in the batch. Is this not one of the features in BatchUpdates in JDBC2? I have been trying to accomplish this since 2 days now. Can anyone help me with this. Can anyone please help me with this?
    FYI, I have tried the following.
    I have 3 test updates in my batch.
    2 nd statement is an erraneous statement(deliberate). Other 2 statements are fine. It is appropriatley throwing 'BatchUpdateException'. when I ckeck the "arrays of ints" reurned by executeBatch() as well as BatchUpdateException.getUpdateCounts() are returning an arrays of size '0'. If remeove the erraneous statement, behaviour is as expected.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bharani

    The next paragraph of the same API doc:
    If the driver continues processing after a failure, the array returned by the method BatchUpdateException.getUpdateCounts will contain as many elements as there are commands in the batch, and at least one of the elements will be the following:
    3. A value of -3 -- indicates that the command failed to execute successfully and occurs only if a driver continues to process commands after a command fails
    A driver is not required to implement this method.
