A Web Page Development Question

Hi,
I want to develop a web page with an image. By clicking different areas on the image, people can go to different links. There are many such areas on the image.
How can I implement that? Answer or whereabout of the answer is appreciated.

Its very much possible.. There is a attribute in IMG tag which will help u do that.. just check the IMG tag details..

OIM custom web page developed shows up on copy pasting the URL in browser

Hi experts,
I am facing this weird issue. I have developed a custom web page to generate password after adding custom menu item in OIM.
The web page shows up on copy pasting the URL in browser. Only System admins after loggin in should get this menu item and page after clicking on it.
http://xxxx:7778/xlWebApp/generatePassword.do
But any1 can access this page currently. I have changed the action class to check for valid session,so clicking reset doesnt trigger the code.
So atleast the functionality is protected.
But the page still shows up on copy pasting the URL. How do i prevent this from happening ??
Any suggestions and pointers would be appreciated.

Web page development

I have a question on the footer of a web page.
Do you use
<META http-equiv="<script type='text/javascript'>" content="type">
</HEAD>
Before HTML5
I lot of my audience uses old equipment and browsers.
Would I also include the <Footer> element assuming the browers would parse what they needed?

Well that means we need an answer. I have been using the <Footer> but I do not know if it is successful or not.
A lot changed since the last time I redid my webpages. Like the capitalization of the elements and attributes.
What have you looked in? Anything like the HTML reference in the Apple Developer Library? Or something else.
I also eventually find answers by changing my query question on the internet.

Web Page Composer Questions

Hey again
Im new to web page composer so here are some questions that i cant seem to find a proper answer to:
1- Im using a Framework witch have two zones:
                 Header Component - Normal Iview
                 Content Area - witch changes depending on top level navigation node
                                      This area is mainly build with pages that have detail navigation and a iview to a WPC Page.
              My problem is: when i preview the iview's im using in content area i can see the WPC im supposed to see , but when i log in as a user that is supossed to have this framework and content as the only available , this iviews to the WPC content are not really showing. the tray is there but no content inside it.
              What could be the problem?
2- Im used to have my Custom CSS / JavaScript in components but with wpc that wont be the case anymore as we want people to change content if they want too. is there a way to load CSS's without a "invisible css provider component" ?

An entry point provider makes one or more folders available as links that you can access from a central point.
Please refer to this.

In this context as soon as you create an entry point, you can upload site specific/ global content and images or documents into these folders

HTTP External Web Page Link Question

I found the following info when searching this group:
To open an URL from within a Designer generated form you will need to use the gotoURL method of the xfa.host object.
i.e. xfa.host.gotoURL("http://www.cnn.com");
You will need to create a object such as a button that when clicked will execute the above script.
My question is how do I do this? For example if I drag a button on to my form please tell me EXACTLY what I need to do after that. I'm sorry but I do not know what is the xfa.host object. I tried right clicking on the button but every option I tried did not work.

The Current option will launch the new web page in the same window as the Captivate course is playing. This will effectively mean that you leave the Captivate lesson and would need to relaunch the lesson again from the beginning. New - launches the URL in a new browser window. Parent and Top are not likely to be useful to you because they are only used when your course HTM page is playing in some kind of frameset with multiple levels. Parent refers to the frame in which your current window is playing. Top refers to the frame at the very top of the window hierarchy.
In your case you need to use the New option so that your user does not leave the Captivate lesson. Your new window will open on top of the Captivate lesson and when they are finished with that window they can just close it to get back to the Captivate lesson underneath.
Since you are launching your other URL via a button in Captivate, you need to remember this has only one pause point. As soon as you click that button the pause is released and Captivate will continue play. If you want this button to be permanently paused, you can do this using Advanced Actions.
Create an Advanced Action with two clauses. In the example below, I've called the AA LaunchURLandStayPaused. The first clause launches your URL, and the second clause will reset the value of the system variable that tracks the movies current frame. This effectively negates the pausing behaviour.
Set the On Success action of the button to Execute Advanced Action and then select the new Advance Action you just created from the drop-down menu.
You'll need to set up another button or click box for the user to click when they DO want to advance to the next slide.

Bookmarks and web page display question

I have been used to using Netscape and Internet Explorer where you can have a vertical column of bookmarks running up and down on the left side...and then the window to the right will display the web page...i.e., you don't have to click on a separate bookmarks page, open your link, and then toggle back to the Bookmarks page.
I like the idea of having ALL of my many bookmarks available to me on the lefthand side while seeing the pages open in the window to the right.
Is there any way Safari can provide close to that same layout? I know about how to use tabs and I know of the bookmark horizontal bar, but I do miss the vertical on the left bookmarks column showing everything (several hundred) and just clicking and having the web page pop open on the right while keeping all my bookmarks available on the same screen.
Can Safari do this? Or what might be the closest workaround?

Sorry for the confusion, here's a more detailed description of what I'm aiming for. Also, I don't have any web pages published or a web host yet so I can't post a URL to my page.
This Adobe forums page acts just like my web page. On the right side of this Adobe page, there is a gray and white checkered design. If the bookmarks (or favorites) are closed (I am using Firefox with a bookmark toolbar on the left side), then the checkered design is pretty wide. If the bookmark toolbar is opened, then part of the checkered pattern is cut off from view, but the left side of the page is still completely in view.
Coca Cola's website is more of how I want my website to be: http://www.coca-cola.com/index.jsp
On both sides of Coca Cola's website, there is a gray-white gradient. If the bookmarks are closed, then the gradient pattern on both sides are exactly equal in width. If the bookmarks are opened, then part of the outside portion the the page is cut off on both the left and right sides quite a bit, but the gradient design widths on the left and right are both still equal in width.
So if the opened bookmarks are going to cut off part of the web page from view, I would prefer to have both parts of the left and right side removed instead of just the right side. I tried centering the page by following David Powers' thread, but either I didn't do it correctly or it didn't help with this problem.

Java Studio Enterprise 8 - Web App Developing question

I just installed the Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8 one wek ago(self training) and have a basis familiarity with the product, because I'm working in a very important project at work.
I read (PDF, links, etc) information but I really have a problem, I need to know how to work with the runtime window to watch the application an JSP & Servlets running?, maybe it's something that I'm doing wrong. The runtime window has :
Servers: Sun Java System Application Server 8.1
Bundled Tomcat (5.5.7)
Processes: <No Processing Running>
Databases: Folder Drivers
two jdbc pointbase (broken)
Http Server: Running
VCS Commands: Empty
Web Services: Empty
XML Entity Catalogs: with info

If you are working with JSPs and Servlets this means you are working with a web module. This type of application is executed on the Web or Application Server such as the Sun Java System Application Server.
In order for the module's bits to get to the server you need first to deploy it there. However this is done by the IDE transparently for you.
Thus if you want to see the output of the JSPs - choose "Run Project" from your Web Module project's context menu. This will open a web browser with your project's root page preloaded and you will be able to work with/test your project.

Flash / web page reload question

On the main page of my web site I inserted a Flash object
that plays an mp3 file automatically.
Problem is, when the user clicks on a link to go to an html
sub-page then returns to the main page (using the browser's back
button or the "Home" button I provide), the audio clip plays all
over again. I do not want this.
How can I get the AS code on the main page to execute only
once per session? I do not want the mp3 to keep auto-playing every
time the user goes from a sub-page back to the main page. Only when
a user formally closes their browser then reopens it and returns to
the main page at a later session should the mp3 file play again.

user keeps using
your navigation system?
If it's so..
then maybe it's a right time to go back in time and use html
frames?
Place your mp3 player in the top frame, but whole content and
navigation
system in the bottom frame.

Illustrator best for web page development?

In the past I have used PS CS to do some graphic text and rollovers. I basically did almost evrything in PS and then used go live and inseted smart objects.
I am re-doing the sites now using Dreamweaver. A friend recommended that I do the type and graphic stuff in Illustrator because it was vector based. Is this accurate information and is there and advantage here? I am more familiar with PS but willing to learn Illustrator if there is reason too. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

How to center Text Box on Web Page? -- Web dev with Word 2013

I'm trying to assist a user who wants to use Word 2013 for simple web page development.
There are many tools but they want to use Word 2013.
Actually have it working by saving the Word 2013 files as web pages... like index.htm, about.htm, etc.
The problem is when we use the "Insert" tab in Word to create a "Text Box" or a "Shape" ...
And align it centered on the page... it looks fine in Word but when we open it with a web browser the "Text Box" or "shape" are no longeer centered.
We thought we had it fixed by making the "Text Box" Layout Options "In Line with Text" but again... looks fine in Word but not in a web browser.
The question: How can we get a "Text Box" in Word 2013 to appear centered on a web page?

For webpage design, I would suggest customized form under develop tab on the Ribbon over insert object directly. I tested from my side, using customized form will lock the object position on the
page.

How do I include the discussion lines fron Disqus in a pdf created from a web page?

Space is reserved for the text material but the lines do not appear to have been included. here is the specific web page in question.

How do i publish to the web page?

i put lion server on my MB Pro. It's up. When I http to the IP address, I get the default web page. my question is how do I publish to this web site? I've tried FTP access and it doesn't look like that's supported. I tried opening the site with dreamweaver and no joy.
I'd like to just create a web page and publish it to the mac server but i don't know how.
i guess I could create a web page in iweb and publish it to the sites\default but I was wanting to do it from a remote location. is that doable?

I suggest you upgrade to the latest iWeb version while copies are still availalbe: iLife '11 - Apple Store (U.S.). That's because it's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

Hi, I almost forgot the little I learned about web page development, so, I'm a total noob when it comes to this and I need your help.
I saved as a complete web page on my hard disk this web page but when I open it in Firefox or IE, it doesn't display as much as I need it. I'm mostly interested in displaying the logo images as they appear on the original web page. The browsers just show them briefly when refreshing but hide them right away. I can see the image files downloaded to my hard drive and if I open the page in Dreamweaver it displays these images in the preview pane but I can't make them show in the browsers. From Dreamweaver I saved the page as in the folder where the images are and this also updated the code with the relative image links but the browsers still don't show them.
I will greatly appreciate your help with this.

Can't get javascript to change movie playing in web page

I'm very new to web page development and scripting, so please bear with me. This is a test page I'm trying to get to work. Eventually there will be several images of different videos, and I want the different videos to play in one player, depending on which one is clicked on. This is the page: I have tried this on both Windows 7 Home Premium at home and Windows XP Professional SP 3 at work. All the links work except the crucial one, which is supposed to change the movie.
